Hello
1. have you connected external devices other than the keyboard and mouse?
2. what security software is installed on your computer?
I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.
Method 1:
Disable temporarily the security software and then try to load Service pack 3 and check if the problem persists.
Follow the steps to temporarily disable the security software:
a. right click on icon antivirus on the left corner of the taskbar.
b. click Exit or settings and temporarily disable the security software.
Warning: If you need to temporarily disable the security software, you should reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 2:
Put the computer in a clean boot state, and then try to load Service Pack 3 and check if it works.

Original title: problem after installing Windows Service Pack 3 on Windows XP Home Media edition pc
My pc runs Windows XP Home Media edition. I installed Windows Service Pack 3 successfully, or so I thought. Whenever I turn on my pc a box opens indicating "files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions." To maintain the stability of the system. Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Install your Windows XP Professional CD2. I don't have any Windows XP Professional CD that I use the Home Media Edition. If I press Cancel repeatedly, the window disappears to return with the same information, but ask me to install Windows XP Professional CD3. How can I stop this happening?
Hello
Step 1: I suggest you perform the SFC scan on the computer and check.
SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
3. at the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:sfc/scannow
Step 2: Also, look for error messages in the event viewer. If you find error messages after return the exact error message so that we can help you better.

Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
Hi all
I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build) 2600 and have loads and loads of problems. Windows keeps hung and everything I tried didn't seem to help.I brought this second hand from a company computer, I used to work and I don't have the original installation cd or rescue disk. I meet a lot of problems and everything takes forever to load and work. I was advised to run maleware, spyware, antivirus and defrag on the computer analyses and I did all that and nothing works. Also, when I tried to run the system restore it wouldn't let me, and when I try to run the scan disk after a reboot it does not work. As a last effort, I tried running SFC and it looked as if it was working, but then it asked me for the initial startup disk, that I don't have. so I tried to cancel it, but now every time that I reboot/restart my computer load SFC and I have to start the entire process. Also, none of my cd drives work. Please help meAlso, I'm now a message that says minimum virtual memory is very low.I would be very grateful for any help or advice anyone can offer us on these issues. a million thanks in advance.bfchildHello
After you install service pack 2 for windows vista
After installing service pack 2 for windows vista on my HP laptop, I started having a few problems. First off the computer would not go beyond the Welcome screen because he showed that an update was the installation (step 1 of 3:0 % etc.) and the computer reboots before finish. It kept the case whenever I started upward, even on safe mode. I tried to restore, but it would never be completed and nothing else would work. Now I can't go beyond the microsoft loading screen because it shows a black flat screen with no cursor. I can't enter safe mode. Help, please. Safe mode only shows the start screen but won't start so I can't access the control panel and tried to boot to the last known successful startup but it failed.
Hello
Try a startup repair and / or a system restore using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft
Manufacturers recovery disks normally do not have Service Options; they are normally a relocation to the factory only settings option.
Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.
