Don't Palm Centro (AT & T) no calls incoming or outgoing audio

When make or receive calls, I can't hear the caller at the other end of the line.  In addition, the option of touch screen to activate the speaker (or turn off my bluetooth headset, if it is active) is no longer present.  Some callers can hear me speak.

pTunes now also only play through my headphones.

Maybe in relationship: I had occasional problems getting my phone to stay off when I turn it off, and at least a display claims that I call you instead of Maryland North Carolina.

So, I tried all the resets, called customer service AT & T and Palm customer support.  The consensus is that I'll end up paying $200 to repair or can I buy a new phone.

1. someone at - it similar experiences with the best solutions?

2. If others have similar experiences with the same solutions, they are crap phones and what kind should I expect instead?

One thing you can try is to plug and unplug headphone plug about 10 or 20 quickly in succession.  It seems that if you set the switch which indicates the unit plugged headphones.

Plug and unplug, you can retrip the switch and headphone jack should work.

Regarding the phone showing you in another State which is entirely based on the settings of the network and the phone number by the carrier.

  • My new Palm Centro freezes during incoming calls, which affects my business that I'm self-employed

    Hello

I tried all the patches on my new Palm Centro, nothing helps.  I use my phone as my business phone and I am self-employed independent.  I missed more than several business calls very imnportant because of this problem of freezinf.  I use mobile phones now more than 15 years and have never had this problem before.  As mentioned, I tried all the mentioned patches, no joy.  I don't have any third-party software.  I do not sync my Centro on my desk.  I only used the phone and calendar option.  I don't see any point in calling the support line because it will cost me money for a known problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Mike

I've been in the same situation a year ago and my advice is, get something else.

The unlocked GSM Centro clearly has a problem and many of us have gone through several refurbed and sometimes even new units and still had the same problem. It's not worth the hassle. Pity even so, as the calendar of the Centro and form factor is ideal for business, the aints however lock and will do your head in.

So my advice is to get your money while you can. If you are looking for Centro and freezing here and other forums, you'll see what I mean.

  • Verizon Palm Centro with data block incoming picture message issue

My wife & I have Verizon Palm Centro.  We have a data block on the account that we only wanted to fuse our PDA with our phone to carry less devices.  Recently, someone she knew sent him a picture message.  She never received as to be expected since we have a block of data.  BUT now his phone constantly freezes and will not allow her to put it to sleep.  I noticed that when he behaved in this way, there are two icons triangle above the antenna meter chart, which mean the transfer of data (they go gray and then become green and grey).

To try to remedy the situation, I did a soft reset.  One more question.  Did a Hard Reset.  One more question.  She took it to the Verizon store.  They said he had no trouble finding.  Has continued to be a problem.  Then I saw on the Palm site there is an upgrade of the operating system.  Done (which includes some reset hard).  One more question.  The next day, my wife returned to the Verizon store.  This time, they saw the issue.  They said there was nothing they could do, but give him a new phone.  She brings the phone home and same problem.  I then HotSync had to get all its data back on the phone.

Now, I get a little concerned, as it has been 5 days since the beginning of the question.  As this problem happening my wife tells me of the picture message sent him these days ago.  While it's a data connection, I opened the message Centre and there is an icon of mail with arrows to move through it stay at 0%.  When that disappears, the triangle icons disappear from the graph of power antenna.

I call the technical assistance.  The person is very and said we should would never block because someone should only get this phone for data.  I explained that we wanted only to combine devices.  I explained the picture message. blah blah blah.  He then says that it is from a software on the phone.  Takes me through a bunch of read him information.  All the time that he does not believe me that it's something to do with the unrecovered MMS (which we do not want yet).  In any case, it is more than an hour on the phone with the guy.  It had Palm on instant message and at the back of their hand for me.  He then tells me to do a Hard Reset.  I told her that I've already done a lot and it was not the solution.  I had to do because it could it resolve, he said.  I did, and for the next few minutes, it doesn't lock upwards with the icons.  That is why he said it was fixed and it was something we did on the phone.  Then, he wanted to end the call.  As he was not driving, I ended the call.

Well..................  I did a restore complete everything on the phone my wife, starting by a Safe Hotsync for his calendar, list of tasks and addresses.  Then I restored one - by - one all of his requests including its Documents to go files, etc..  It took another hour +.  The phone worked ok for some time and now 1 day later... The same thing is happening again.

Is there a way to stop this madness?  Verizon can't kill what is trying to get out?  Is there something in the Palm that can kill the message?  Any help would be great.

PS Our phones have the same exact software on them with the same applications, provided with the phone and the modules provided by Verizon/Palm.  We have the same ringtones.  We have the same content of music on our MicroSD cards.  The only thing different is photos we have taken.  My phone doesn't have this problem.  The only difference is that picture stupid someone message.  Hopefully, it's not mine.  Thanks again.

Thank you very much for the reply.  After that I posted this, I contacted Verizon Technical Support.  It seems that the problem was exactly what I said it was.  There was a picture message which was held by the data block, but still somehow try to get on the phone.  I spent some time with a very competent tech person who took the time to solve the problems with me (and down tell me).  We tried to remove the block to see if the message would come through.  Still problem.  We went through all kinds of things to reprogram and realign the phone to the Verizon network.  Still problem.  Then he looked again and found a setting in the application of message for MMS messages fired automatically.  When I disabled this setting, bam message came (no picture because of the block) and the problem stopped.  I was very pleased with the help and the phone my wife is no problem.

P.S., while my wife & I have the same contacts this is a manual process to keep the same.  We have different identifiers of Palm.  Our devices are different.  The only reason why I mentioned in my original post how we hae the inforamtion even had to point out that his phone was screwing and mine was not (with essentially the same content).  Once again, thank you.  G

  • Brazilian firmwre level Palm Centro

    Hello

A few years ago Palm released a update for the Brazilian version of Palm Centro that solved a problem whit incoming calls freeze BOUNCING.

I have the files needed to update the ROM but I forgot how to start the Palm Centro from SD card, as update procedures indicates that it will take to copy all of the files on a SD card and start the phone to the card.

Can anyone here tell me how to start the Palm Centro from SD card?

Try the Palm/HP knowledge base article:

It happens to be for Sprint phones, but the procedure of update of map memory is detailed.  Hope that does this for you

  • Palm Centro will not turn on

    Hello

I bought a Palm Centro refurbished about 7 months ago. In recent days he refused to turn on at all, so far I have tried pulling the battery for anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 hours and putting again. Same thing every time, the red light comes on, the screen remains blank.

I have left this phone hoked up to wall charger for more than 12 hours in a row and am quite sure that it is not a battery problem.

    Some information about this phone:

For a little more than a week before that it would scroll through hotsync indefinitely without any cables that are attached. I would like to pull the battery plug it back and the hotsync cycle jump upwards as soon as he end of initialization, it would then stay in hotsync display 'connect to computer' I would press cancel, after a few mintues it would, then he would cycle all over again.

He also seems to be corrupted in the diary entry, but appears not hardware related.

The phone is originally a reman, I purchsed it about 6 months ago and within a few weeks, I noticed that the power button was less than perfect, I ignored a month ago, when she started to I have to pull the battery to end a call the button would not register to hurry.

I called AT & T and was told that because this AI a reman, they offer only a warranty for 90 days (written near the middle of the team of specialists).

    Any suggestions are appreciated gratefully.

I doubt simple moisture could cause it to fail--it usually involves the lower part of the phone is dipped in the liquid or a good splash on it.   Users to use hair dryers on low, or ask the phone (with battery removed) under a desklamp which releases gentle heat.

I found the solution to this problem with another Member of this forum.

I downloaded the free program DbFixIt of Pimlico Software, Inc., www.pimlicosoftware.com, & was able to install it on my Palm Centro.  I ran the program & it removed 2 problems of the Calendar database.  After that, the HotSync operation took place without problems.

  • Palm Centro Calendar add events

My Palm Centro is around the age of 14 months. It does not allow me to add any appointment to the calendar either manually, or sync with my PC. All other features work correctly. I made soft resets. Actually, his own soft reset. Whenever I try to manually enter an event. I type a letter and it automatically goes into reset mode.

I had three other Palm handheld devices. After about 1 year or more, the calendar feature seems to ruin.

    Bonnie B

OK, if the Centro worked Ok before sync'ing then it looks like there could be data corruption in the calendar.

Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will search the database and then to declare the corruption. You can then search records at the origin of the problem and fix them yourself or you can buy the program and do it automatically repair records.

    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm

To install the program, the value of all lines of "doing nothing" except quick installation or install if you use Palm desktop 6.2.

After installing the program on your handheld, the scanner and scan also to BLOBs in the calendar.
After you clean up the database on the handheld, set the conduit in hotsync for handheld overrides desktop and perform a hotsync.

  • Palm Centro - Verizon - does not recognize the memory card

I have the new Palm Centro from Verizon.  Had several problems with the pda and now with the memory card.  I have a Sandisk micro sd 512 MB card.  It works on my old phone and motorcycle in the slot on the computer, but the phone emits no beep when it is inserted and the menu says no 'no card inserted '.  I don't have another card to try right now.  Have I not a bad phone unit?

    Help, please.

  • Restoration of hotsync after Hard Reset Palm Centro

    Hello

My Palm Centro was freezing randomly and in particular whenever someone called me. As this was very annoying, I performed a Hard Reset of the device. Before I did I did a Hotsync to back up everything (or so I thought).

Now when I do another hotsync after Hard Reset nothing is restored, the only things on the device that were there before are the photos that were on the memory card. All my Contacts, phone numbers, notes, calendar entries and everything disappeared. How can I restore them?

EDIT: Ive since found all my contacts, calendar entries, memos, etc. in the application of "Palm Desktop" in Windows XP. How to I move from the computer on the Palm Centro?

    -Aussieguy

When you hotsync it will ask for a user name, be they existing or invites you to create a new.

you remember what username you assigned when you do the front hotsync.

You also said that you can see your information in palm desktop, check the user name in the upper right corner where you see the user name.

regardless of the user name displayed in the area where you can also see your data, this is the username correct to decide when you hotsync.

now, your device is empty so kindly do the hard reset on it and then try to hotsync, but this time, you should be able to know what username to choose.

  • Emulation of PC for Palm Centro

I have a Palm Centro with a broken screen (it broke and has this black bird shit and white it wait).  But I do not think that the data has been damaged.  I brought to the sprint store and they said they could access the data, but that they could not trasmet it because the phone has been password protected.  They suggested that I try to plug it into my computer and synchronize it.  I had never done this before (a bonehead move my hand and something I do now with my new phone).  And although I could do to connect and to recognize the device / connection of the computer, he told me that I have to wipe out of sync for the first time.  I'm sure it's because I have a password on the phone, that I could type in, if the screen worked.

With all this, so I have a simple question.  Is there some sort of base of Windows XP Pro 'emulator' (run via USB) that I could put on my computer and then effectively "take back" my Palm Centro?  If I could do it, I could paste the password and hopefully access the data we're here so I can copy it to my computer and then load it or type it in my new phone.

I appreciate any information that might serve as someone in the forum and thanks in advance for your consideration.

Try PDAREACH (www.junefabrics.com)... You can navigate your phone using your PC with this software.

  • Palm Centro

I confess to being old and outdated technically.  I rely on my Zire31 PDA Palm of to store address, phone #s, mileage to work and record especially, go to my Palm calendar.  My Zire starts acting tempermentally and may crash at any time.  I just found out that the PDA is dinosaurs and so its time for me to replace it with a cell phone.  I think buying the Palm Centro that has USB capability I need for synchronization to work.  Please someone tell me that this new phone will save all my old addresses and keep all my old entries in the calendar of the Zire by downloading this information on Centro?  Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I can't use Outlook at work, but they won't let me not use Palm OS (I don't know why). Thank you

    The answer is Yes.

You will be able to synchronize your calendar and contact information for the Palm Centro.
