Don't start the EPSON Scan in Windows 7 application

Hi all

When I try to run the Epson Scan application, nothing happens.  Let me explain further.

I have a printer all-in-one Epson Artisan 837 that never gave me any problems on my old Dell under XP SP2 desktop computer.  I recently bought a new Dell Windows 7 Professional XPS8700.  First, I used the printer installation CD and follow the instructions to install Epson.  After installation, the printer works fine, but when I try to start Epson Scan, nothing seems to happen.  I connect the all-in-one to the PC via USB.  Then, I uninstalled all Epson Utilities and tried to reinstall using the package of utility combo for Windows 7 64 bit download on Epson site.  The result is the same; nothing happens when I try to start Epson Scan.

In Device Manager, the printer appears under imaging as expected devices.

An image can be obtained using Microsoft Paint (opening "from scanner or camera").

Printer works fine.

The all-in-one has also four slots for memory cards, which work very well as well.

Another Epson utility, called the Epson Event Manager also does not work.  At the launch, I get an error that States, "cannot find the scanner driver. Install the driver before using the event handler".

I went through the Epson technical support for several days and the result is always the same.  Today, they said that the problem is not related to their products and that there is something in the operating system that prevents the application to open.

My only thought is that Windows can use its default driver, not the Epson driver.  However, if I try to update the driver through the Device Manager, I always get a message that the more exact driver is already installed.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to determine what is the problem and why Epson Scan does not work?

  • Is there a way to increase the text size in Windows 8 applications?

Is there a way to increase the text size in Windows 8 applications?

I find the way to text size too small in most news reader applications.  Looks like you should be able to increase or decrease the text size the same thing you do in a browser using CTRL + or CTRL-, or your mouse wheel.

You can increase the size of the text on the desktop, but it doesn't have any effect on the subway, or whatever you call it today.

Probably, there should be a setting to increase the size of the text under settings of PC!

IMO, I would probably find a lot of people out there wouldn't buy a W8 Tablet since the text is to small to read!  This has fixed as soon as POSSIBLE!

Edit: I noticed that a lot of Apps is updated to help with this problem.  Unfortunately not on the main screen of App, if you select an item to read the improvement will become visible or selectable.

    Hello

On the start screen simply type the word "police" and select the filter settings on the right.  You should see an option 'Make text and other items more or less '.  Click on that and adjust the text or at the desired size.

    -Curt

These instructions don't change the DPI of the screen ratio when it is in the classic user of Windows interface. The new interface Windows username however does not change when this setting is changed (which, in itself, is rather unfortunate).

The only way to change the font size of Windows apps Store is as follows:

    1. click on the Start button to get the new user of Windows interface

2 start typing 'police' (without the quotes)

    3. click on "settings".

    4. click on "enlarge everything on your screen; This opens the settings of PC (which is different from the classic Configuration screen)

    5. set "Enlarge everything on your screen" on it.

Personally, I still find it too small for a lot of apps, but it's a small improvement on the default settings.

  • How to start the Library/bookmarks only window?

Older versions of FF had a command line option in the style of a 'b' after another character. In this case, I could edit and export bookmarks without having to start the main program with all its plug-ins.

I want to resize pictures on my computer, but I don't see the option of resizing under file.  He simply disappeared.  Is there something to show?

    Hi NicolePutnam,

The option of resizing is not given unless you are connected to Windows Live.

The best way is to resize the image is to open Windows Photo Gallery, and then select the photos.

Click on the button send and then asks it to resize the pictures.

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Original title: trouble with automatically the VPN connection

Hi, I want to have my VPN connection to start automatically when windows is running.

    Simple version:
I tried various different methods, including; Paste the shortcut in the startup folder and adding the task in the Task Scheduler.

I have the same problems with both methods. Just the VPN starts automatically... I have to run it manually whenever I turn on the computer or wake up sleep mode.
Does anyone know other methods finally a solution for the other two methods?
In the version of the depth of the problems:

Method of Task Scheduler: I get argument is not valid, it is even after I have successfully created the task and click OK. The task will not work, and also by some strange reason, my VPN password is not get recorded on my connection more. So now, I need to manually start the connection and type in the password. (I click on save the password whenever this does not work, when the task is active...)

Shortcut to the startup directory: Simple and easy... It simply doesn't get it. I followed the steps very carefully and I'm 100% sure that I did it the right way...
