Double click on file as parameter inpurt to vbscript

I want to open MP3 files with mpg123.exe silently when a .mp3 file double click in Windows Explorer. To do this, I wrote a VBScript like below and changed the default program for reading of .mp3 files by assigning my vbscript via Open with-> choose default program.

My script works fine when run from the command line (cmd.exe), but when an .mp3 file double click in windows Explorer I get an error message this double clicked .mp3 file is not an executable file on Windows. Here is my vbscript, let me know where I am doing wrong.

If Wscript.arguments.count = 0 then

WScript.quit

on the other

strSoundFile = WScript.Arguments.Item (0)

end if

Set objShell = CreateObject ("Wscript.Shell")

strCommand = "mpg123.exe - q" & Chr (34) & strSoundFile & Chr (34)

objShell.Run strCommand, 0, True

Thanks David

I received by e-mail a file which I can not open... so I downloaded the Microsoft compatibility pack. He asks me to double click the File Format Converter.exe file on my hard disk to start the Setup program.  I'm not savvy and don't know where to find it!  Your help will be admired.  BF

Hello, I downloaded myself today and when I read your question, I went looking for him.

The only place where I found it was prefetch.

However, I was able to view the file after downloading.

When I download I always save it to the desktop, then the scanner and then double-click it to install. If you haven't noticed where it was installed, check your temp folder.

Or download it again and save it to the desktop.

    I hope this helps.

  • A double click of files no longer works.

As I installed Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac on my MacBook Pro, there are a lot of files that I can not open more using double click. I tried to change the double-click settings in the preferences panel, and by assigning a specific application for opening each type of problematic file using the button 'Open with' in the information panel, nothing happens.

I also tried to restart the computer, and I fixed the permissions of the main HARD drive. None of this has worked.

What is curious, it's only by double-clicking on a file actually seems to start the application. The application icon bounces for a while, as if she was trying to open. But after seconds of bouncing icon, the icon 'block' is displayed (do not know the exact name of this icon - it's this formidable multicolor spinning I speak). The application icon bounces for a minute or more with the projection of icon "hang" and then the application closes (without any message about some crash) or I use "Force quit" to close.

At the present time, I have to open the app for files that don't work ( Word files .doc and .docx, Preview for .jpg, .tiff, .png, and .gif files, Safari or another web browser for .html and .url files) to make them work. It goes same for my photo files RAW (.pef), which won't open in Capture One Pro more when you use the double click.

I have not tried other image far files

It is, it prevents the newly installed applications to open as well. Today, I tried to open a demo app I downloaded a third party developer (i.e., not Apple), and its icon tossed around for a minute before he quit. I did not yet have the window with the message "you are about to open an app from a [...]', asking if I want to open the file or not.

Everyone knows about this problem? More important, nobody knows how to fix?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I tried to find some more information on the issue throughout the day, looking in the forums, websites, etc. I couldn't find anything on this issue.

I was about to give up, but I decided to reboot once more, just to see if it would change anything. Seems the restart was once again the key to success. Perhaps refreshing memory has been the key to solve the problem.

    Detective Conan, I hope.

  • I'm trying to download Flash Player 11.4.402.278. However, when I double-click the file to install it, it does nothing? What can I do?

I went to the Adobe site to download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (11.4.402.278). The download was successful. However, when I double-clicked on the file in the download for Firefox, it did nothing. The file security warning dialog box does not appear. I don't know what is happening. Y at - there someone who can help me?

The download location by default on Windows Vista is the record of downloads, under your user folder. You could try to close Firefox and check there to see if the Flash installation file has been downloaded... If you see it, double-click on the file. If this does not work, try again:

After you download the file to install Flash on your computer, open the downloads window, right click on the file you downloaded and select "Open containing folder", then take it out of Firefox before running the Flash installation program that you downloaded.

See Flash Plugin - keep up-to-date and solve the related problems to the title of the update of Flash... There is a link to download the Offline Installer, if the normal download does not work.

  • Double-click a file, go to a specific URL

A file given (for example, an attachment or an element in a window of the Explorer) with a particular extension (which contains data in a format for my own application) I want to double click on it to open a specific URL (www.clevergrids.net23.net) and pass the file (or its content) at this URL, then different methods, it offers execution of the application (for example the launch JNLP, applet).

I understand how to associate a browser with an extension, but do not want the browser itself to simply open the file; It would obviously not be my application. It is also unsatisfactory pass the file (path) more directly to the application via an execution of orders (.bat).

You try to program (in a way) and which is beyond the scope of the above Windows forums.  We are not programmers (and if by chance it is actually a programmer or two here, this kind of questions is not addressed).  I don't know if this forum will help (but I think it's the right one), but I would at least begin by the scripts Forum:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ITCG/threads when experts in the scripts will be more that happy to help or, if what you want to do, it's not what they cover, I think they'll have a better idea of the correct forum where you can post.

  • Can double-click is no longer on a virtual computer after update to Win 8.1 (on the Mac host)

    Hello

We have VMWare Fusion Version 5.0.3 (1040386) running on a Mac Book Pro (Mountain Lion) with a Windows 8 VM, updated week last through the App Store to 8.1

We have this problem on all our machines:

1 open Windows Explorer, navigate to any 'virtual' folder (ie. a folder which is actually pointing to a folder on the Mac, for example My Documents).

    2. you can see everything, but you can't do anything with it. For example, double-click a file to open it and the application (for example, Notepad, Excel, whatever) does not start. The workaround, it is that you have to go to the physical folder on the Mac and open the file, then it will open the appropriate application of the virtual machine (and the file opens in the application). On VM Win8, it wasn't necessary, it has worked well for the virtual machine.

    3. you double-click any subfolder to open it either, you can never see the top level of the virtual machine.

It seems that the behaviour of 'double click' is broken.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

OK, the solution to this problem is not double click, but sharing folders. VMware tools needs to be completely ONE installed, restart the virtual machine, and then reinstall the VMware tools.

I also had to change the registry settings in Windows for VMWare tools first, because otherwise it could not be uninstalled.

The steps to edit the registry are in this thread, the Zypher response:

    https://communities.VMware.com/thread/460232

Changes to the registry, then select Virtual Machine in Fusion, the menu reinstall. This will cause the Tools CD-ROM mounted in the virtual machine (Windows 8.1 in my case). Ignore the guests that appear and instead, open Control Panel and choose to uninstall VMWare Tools. You must restart the virtual machine later. After the reboot, new Virtual Machine in Fusion menu goto and now select "install VMware Tools". You will need to logoff the VM at the end and reconnect again.
