downgrade Win8 home for Win 7
After a few months of sporadically trying to access a Microsoft Account or the store on my Dell Inspiron 660 without success (with some 1,000 others Win8 according to M.S. Articles), more its incompatibility with * all * of my external audio interfaces USB despite the driver updates, the time has come to downgrade to Win7 from Win8 preinstalled host. I guess the software is the problem as long as the hardware works fine otherwise and everything will work in Win7.
So, the issue will be any retail version of Windows 7, for example. at Amazon, being 100% compatible with this machine, or is there some stuff with the bios that would need fixing. It's a Dell configured with Win7 version to buy.
There is not a Dell of Windows 7 version to purchase. Dell Windows 7 media differs from Microsoft media it activates automatically when it is installed on a Dell computer that is eligible, and it has some elements of customization (background/user images, logo support, etc.).
A 'detail' key and the included media will be fine.
You can find drivers Windows 7 x 64 for the 660 here:

Issue of volume control after downgrading A210-1AS for Win XP
Hey all,.
I recently upgraded my satellite A210-1AS to xp and after sorting more things, including the audio drivers, wireless, etc, I have some problems (surprise, surprise)
1. the sound adjustment on the front wheel can't control the volume, although it worked fine in Vista.
DD realtek audio Manager is installed fine, AFAIK. Any ideas how to solve this problem?2. the buttons on top to control the media work more (toshiba easykeys?).
Are there drivers for these that everyone found for XP?3. (and I'm not too fussed on) there are 3 yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager.
1. I believe is the modem, which I am not at all worried, the other 2 I do not know. Any ideas?Thank you very much for the replies, would be nice to sort. Although I could use volume control in xp, it is not ideal, as I'm sure you can imagine.
Will check in the morning, thanks again
Hi Joshua
I m the owner of the Satellite A210. This laptop is similar to the Equium A210.
I installed a Windows Vista and XP on the second partition and I have the sound and the sound volume control works very well with both operating systems. But I had a little problem with the installation of driver sound. After a short investigation here in the forum, I discovered that I need to first install MS patches; KB888111 and KB835221.
After installing the patch, I installed the Realtek audio driver. It worked like a charm.(2) control buttons doesn't work on my laptop because I have an A210 with the AMD processor and chipset and XP from Toshiba Utilities for my series are not available.
(3) I have 2 yellow exclamation marks in my device manager. The modem works because I installed the modem driver from an another series of notebook A210. The driver also works.
Two other unknown devices ("possibly PCI memory controller" or "Mass Storage Controller) may be linked to the material that is only supported by Windows Vista and not XP. Therefore, the XP drivers don t exist also.Good bye

Update for Win XP Prof at home on Satellite A75 S209
I'm going through Win XP Home to Win XP Prof when I do, I get a message that the DVD may not work after the installation is complete. I continued and then I get a message that the file cannot be found. When I look at the CD, I find the right files when the installation is looking for it. I can't Win XP Prof to install completely and have now icons missing from my homepage and things are missing as my favorites in Internet Explorer. If I try to add the missing icons on the desktop or for Internet Explorer, I get messages indicating that they are there and I want to write. Can anyone help?
Hello, Robert
During the upgrade of the operating system, the HARD drive will be the format and all the files, links and data are lost.
So if you need your old links in the IE Favorites you must copy these files in the folderC:\Dokuments and \Favorites Settings\ (your account)
If you n t use the Windows XP recover CD, but the CD version full of Microsoft, you need drivers Toshiba, tools and utilities for the correct operation of the laptop. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on the Toshiba site.
Good bye

product key for win xp home installation disc
I have a disc of original home installation win xp, but have lost the product key that was on the box of the cd, how do I know what is the key?
"homiej09" wrote in message News: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy * .com...I have a disc of original home installation win xp, but have lost the product key that was on the box of the cd, how do I know what is the key?
If you have a computer on which the product has been installed AND it is a retail version of XP Home (not a version installed at the factory where you never entered the label key), you can use a program of keyfinder to retrieve. I usewww.magicaljellybean.com keyfinder program for this purpose. Even if you have a hard drive that had the operating system installed on it and it still can be read in another computer then the tool load the hive in this program will be found the product key. Otherwise, you're out of luck. -
Another way to downgrade to win 8 pro for win 7 pro
I got a new Mini-Tower xps 8700 with 8 pre-installed pro victory. I think this falls into the rules of dell for win 7 pro downgrade. The question is can I use a reinstall pro 7 dell victory of a computer drive dell laptop to achieve this downgrade?
"I got a new Mini-Tower xps 8700 with 8 pre-installed pro victory. I think this falls into the rules of dell for win 7 pro downgrade. »
They are not rules downgrade "Dell"... they are rules of downgrade from Microsoft, and Yes, Windows 8 Pro (Pro ONLY) qualifies for the downgrade rights. Activation for downgrade rights is the responsibility of the user, so you can activate it using ANY other license (even if used on a different machine/account without affecting this license)... a Dell installation DVD is eligible. Normally, a Dell installation DVD requires NO key to enter, and the range of systems that work with a DVD is extensive, but not universal, so if it asks for a product key, you will need to have one of your own to provide.
Why would you downgrade?

See the response of Mike Hall, but also, note the following:
What virus do you have? How do you know if you're a? Reinstalling Windows due to a virus is almost never required and is usually exaggerated way. It is normally much easier and much less likely to cause you problems if you delete the virus with a good antivirus program.

How to activate Win 7 Home Premium SP1 if I have a product key for Win 7 Home Premium without SP1
I bought the Dell with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium computer. I recently had a problem with the firewall system and found that the only solution is to reinstall Windows. I downloaded .iso with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 because my current version has been already upgraded to SP1. After that I installed it, it asked me to enter the product key. I have provided the product key, but he says it's a bad touch and I realized that my product key must be for Windows 7 Home Premium without SP1.
I downloaded .iso with Windows 7 Home Premium without SP1, but I can't install it now because it says that my current version is newer than the one I am trying to install. What can I do about it now? Can I get a product key for Win 7 Home Premium SP1 if I have Win 7 Home Premium? Service pack 1 is free anyway...If you have downloaded a Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 integrated, you should be able to use the product key located on the COA sticker in the battery compartment.
Skip entering product key and complete the installation.
Click Start, right click on computer
Click on properties
Scroll down to the Windows Activation
Click on the link 'change product key '.
Enter the product key located on the COA sticker attached to the bottom of your laptop or in the battery compartment. Click next to activate via the Internet.

Hi rhagland,
To prevent files or sharing folders do the following:
(a) open computer management. To do this, click Start, then right click on computerand then click Manage.
(b) if the user account control dialog box appears, confirm that the displayed action corresponds to what you want, and then click Yes.
(c) in the console tree, click System Tools, click shared folders, and then click share.
(d) in the Details pane, right-click on a shared folder and then click stop sharing (this option appears only if you started the computer management by using a member of the local Administrators group account).
To stop sharing multiple files, press CTRL while clicking the file names, right-click one of the selected files and then click stop sharing. This removes access network shared files selected.
