  If I understand your problem, I think it may have to do with the addresses stored in your address book. Thunderbird can display the name of your address book instead of the name of the post office, where corresponds to the e-mail address.

When I run the installer of the Apex 3.2 my HTTP Server breaks because the Apex is built around the dads.conf approach. There must be a better way to get an installation of OHS at a higher level and and install Apex that won't kill the ESO. Are there not?

  Well, you're not :-) It's indeed not here for Linux x86_64. Yes, you can install the 32-bit binaries on a 64-bit platform. Avoid any noticeable problems. But if you really want the 64 binary bits, you can install SST based on Apache 1.3 on Oracle Application Server CD. Download here the "Oracle SOA Suite 10 g (10.1.3.x). This will also work with Apex. The SST is equipped with mod_plsql.

  I wish I could the URL redirects. I'm under XE with Application Express 2.1.0.00.39.
  
  I want to be able to have a URL like www.schoolwebsite.com and when the user presses on it - have redirect to the page of the Apex for the application. I thought I had to use a redirect in the configuration file HTTP and that XE used Oracle_HTTP and I have set up this way.

This access point is a brand new and has not been deployed in a network and has not been controlled by a CA previously. I tried to find how to enable HTTP on the access point but in vain. And also when I try to run any command to activate the mode I get the following error message:

  I use a stored procedure to write an xml file in a directory with an alias "DIR_EXCEL_EXPORT". (This directory is created in the database to reference the folder on the db server. The folder is/tmp).
  
  Can you please give me an example how to download the file created automatically once the file is created or at least how to open it manually using a button in the apex?

  Page & APP_PAGE_ID.
  Defined for example application DOWNLOAD_XML

  Then check that your APA process is conditional on demand DOWNLOAD_XML

  Also, make sure that DAD user have read privilege to the directory that you are using

  As far as I KNOW, the SST is a product authorized, not free. So you can consider this aspect.

  You need a container with ApexListerner JEE, not Apache. Not supported, but a good option is Glassfish Community Server. You can always choose to deploy the Apache, in addition to JEE container, for URL rewriting, etc.

  EPG is not the fastest server around.
  I'd go with Apache + GF + ApexListener.
