XP - can I both Microsoft and Windows updates?
I get automatic updates from Microsoft and Windows.
Should I have them both!
VIC Luci
Yes.
What are the differences between Windows updates and automatic updates from Microsoft Updates? While Windows Update provides updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software, such as Microsoft Office and Windows Live [as well as Silverlight & Microsoft Security Essentials]. Update automatic is a feature that allows you to configure your PC to automatically download and install updates using each service, making it easy and convenient for you to keep your current Windows PC.

Impossible to disable firewall NIS2010 so I can download and install updates
Microsoft told me that I should disable my Norton firewall and antivirus while downloading and installing updates to avoid problems (I have dial-up access)
In msconfig when I remove the chech in the box for this program and click 'apply' the audit took place in the area and it does not turn off. If I then click on "OK" and restart it won't always turn off. I unchecked other programs and click on 'apply' and it worked.
I tried reinstalling and it still does not work. In addition, I can't change how it starts in services.msc
I'm waiting until it is resolved to do my updates. Help, please.
Thank you

32-bit Vista, System Restore and windows update are suspended.
This problem started happening almost two months ago. When I turn off computer and windows update tells me that it is updated, I leave. Ive come back hours later to see that my computer never updated and turns off. Ive tried click on windows update to update while I was connected and it still crashes just forever. Today, I think I discovered perhaps the underlying problem. Finally, I got fed up and decided to do a system restore, after hours of research and try all kinds of solutions on these forums (none worked). So now he is suspended from the system restore. Suspicious to me that when the windows update crashes is on the screen where it says create restore point.
What can I do?
I do not want to download all that regcure, II _ I chercher search on google, seems tgtbt and I don't want to take the risk of harming my system.

You should go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest network drivers wifi and card.
Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT after each driver.
Maybe the other pilots. software and updates to the BIOS, you can get there.

Windows Vista - Windows Defender error 0xc80000222 AND Windows Update, error 800800005
I replaced the hard drive on my HP laptop and used the recovery disks to restore my computer to factory setting. I also uninstalled Norton Anti Virus, download Mozilla Firefox and downloaded Avast Antivirus. I tried to update, but got 2 two errors - Windows Defender error 0xc80000222 (the program cannot check the definition updates) and Windows Update error 800800005 (Windows could not search for new updates.). I even tried to install Microsoft Fix to perform diagnostics, but it does not have (we're sorry, but Windows PowerShell could not run). My system sign says that Windows is activated. In the end, I want to use my upgrade for windows disk 8. I used these discs before recovery without any problem. Thank you.
