Dreamweaver permissions for local site?

After a long while I need to update a site I built using Dreamweaver CS3. I've never bothered update DW to CS5 because he worked well with DW3. But now he says that licensing for DW 3 requires a reinstall so I finally installed DW 5. Now he says, he can't find the index.html file. This is in the site of my public folder folder, but I guess after several OS updates (Yosemite Mountain Lion) somehow the permissions changed.

At present, the public record is me: read and write, everyone: write only;

the site folder is me: read and write, staff: reading and writing, all read-only. (I don't know what is personal.)

Nobody knows what the permissions should be?

It does not sound like a permissions issue.

"It is said that he can not find the index.html file.

The path is not complete to find the index.html file

The staff is quite normal to see.  The staff is the user group by default for you that is assigned to the files and folders that have no admin group membership.

  • Dreamweaver won't save site local/network settings

    MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.2

    Dreamweaver CS6 version 12 build 5808

1st site definition: I want to test files locally, then 'put' on my test server.

2 definition of the site: I want to take the file from my local folder and "put" it on my production server.

I set up the 2drives on the Mac... my test server and my live server.  Readers were mounted on different mount points so that they do not overwrite each other.

I go in Dreamweaver and select "manage sites". I go to my local folder for the first screen... the next wants to screen (Server tab) the path to the test server.  I have on the correct server (verified!) and click on "choose".  The path indicated in the box in the "Server" active tab is correct... BUT when I click on 'save', CHANGES in path to my production server.

Absolutely, it will NOT save the information that I've specified.  I connect to my server via local/network.

I renamed dreamweaver Pref files and deleted the contents of the cache site...

Nearly an hour on the phone with Adobe, as well as the tech told me that they were not trained to help with local/network configurations.  What is interesting is the fact that when I navigate on my test server to "manage sites", I can see my files, expand my folders, etc.  It is not a question-Dreamweaver just will not save the information that I enter the permissions.

Would appreciate any help I can get on that...

Nancy, I appreciate your time, but it looks like we have found something that will work for us...

OS X doesn't seem to know what to do with mounted drives, if they have the same name.  For example:

    IP: 192.xxx.xxx.22\MyServer

    and

    IP: 192.xxx.xxx.23\MyServer

When they are mounted, even with different IP addys and different mount points, OS X only 'sees' the share name and seems not to take into account the mapping on the part of Awesome!

Re-appointing one of the network shares was NOT an option and the option Alias on OS X help not at all... OS X sees that the name of sharing, even when the Alias is well... renamed as an alias... go figure!

Since we were unable to find a way to solve this problem of OS X, we ended up creating a second network share for the target folder, using a different name.  Problem solved.

  • the font files could not be copied into the directory of local site. Please check permissions

Hello. I'm new here. Can someone answer me why dreamweaver cannot accept files of fonts when I try to change the style of police with the program? Im making any good by Lynda - Dreamweaver CS6 Essential Training instructions of lessons, but I have a problem when trying to add new files of fonts css rule - could not be copied into the directory of local site. Please check the permissions...   Thank you.

Open the fonts using Windows Explorer file and try to copy from its current folder in the folder root of the site on your hard drive and see if you get a Windows error.

Do not use DW to import the file to the site.

I guess that the file you are trying to copy is protected.

Jscher2000. thanks for the suggestion. I wanted to avoid erases all data for all sites, but I found a way to clean up the data for a specific site:

While on the site in question, long press on the URL bar. This will bring up a menu that allows you to clear the data of this site and the specific permissions that have been created for her.

Once I deleted permission for location data, he again asked me to share my position, and everything was good.

I always use Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 for my Web site. The new CC Dreamweaver will be able to use the old traced or will I have to start over?

CC of Dreamweaver is capable of handling any HTML page, regardless of where it was created. However, you might find that your existing code is not valid (it depends on how good your understanding of HTML is).

Download the demo version and see how you rate. However, you should be warned that Dreamweaver CC is very different from DW 4.

  • How to find 'beginning-dreamweaver-first-site-Web' zip in the local site folder?

    Hallo...

I download this file already. But somehow it does not appear on the "local site" folder when I want to save it as in the tutorial video suggests...

What I have to do something else before you save it. ???

BTW, how to decompress this file...?

    Thank you very much.

To create the folder root of your local site, use the operating system of your computer to create an empty folder and name it what you want.

Download a program such as Winzip (Windows) or Stuffit (for MAC) to extract (unzip) your zip file in the folder root of your site.

Open DW and use your Site Manager to set your new site and enter the local path to the root of your site.

  • For both needed local Sites FTP connection

V1 of my pages html5 loaded properly on the ISP server. The pages were made in haste without much thought CSS. v2 that fixes the but I am unable to ftp to the server. I don't understand why I can't just select what local site to connect with. Connection to the server of the first local site works to wonder, and then 30 seconds later local site v2 can't connect.

I suppose that you have two different site definition settings in DW.  One another for Site2 to Site1.  That you're given grief, try to switch the FTP mode passive power. You'll find it under servers > more Options.  See screenshot.

  • Using Dreamweaver | Implement a local version of your site

This question has been posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.Adobe.com/Dreamweaver/using/set-local-version-site.html

A suggestion, I think. Can you make a copy of your site files and place it in another folder on your hard disk, create a new site definition in DW to see if that helps?

In the meantime, I remember an employee of P7 on the forum. I'll see if I can hang him in this discussion.

  • I have a DW 8 existing local site local site for DW cs5 without overwriting

I just upgraded from DW 8, DW cs5 and had to uninstall the old software to have room for the new (perhaps a fatal error?).  Of course, all my files are always My Documents in my local site folder and I have my site running on the remote site.  All of this is good.  I can open all files from the workspace and all, but like cs5 is concerned, I have no Web site.  I want to configure my new DW to use my existing files, but he wants to make a new local site.  I wonder that if I create a new site in the site manager will be he crush or should I just copy everything in this new folder?  I can't he hang out somewhere? Seems like it should be simple - people upgrade their software all the time! What Miss me?

Just to clarify, it is not necessary to copy the files from your site. HTML is HTML.  You can work on your existing site in DW CS (whatever) just define the site and pointing to the folder of the hard disk where your site files currently reside.

The error means that DW still think your Checkin/checkout is enabled.

    Follow these steps:

1 using the site manager, create a NEW site definition that points to the same
local and remote sites than your original.
    2. to connect to the remote site.
    3. find and DELETE all instances of *.lck at the remote site.

Now, try to import the file. What is going on?

  • Permissions for all accounts

What I want to do is to create a work environment where all accounts on the Mac have full access to read and write to any file on this computer.

I use a program called Freeway Pro Web site. In order to add a feature not included in my version of the program, I downloaded a 30 day trial of a newer version. When the time was up, I could no longer access the Web site file because the site was made by the most recent version. So, I created a new user and placed files and a newly downloaded new version of the program in there. I could now open the site and work on it, but when I went to publish or download, I would get an error message saying that I "don't have access permissions. The file is located in the documents in my home user account. I went to look for info and all the permission modifications inside were ghosts. Is there a terminal command or another way for a universal setting for allow permissions on everything? Or a way to force change in permissions in particular programs? This a home, unique user's machine.

    Thank you

If you don't have local copies of your site on your computer...

1 create a new Site definition using your old FTP GS-01 information: definition of a new site. Learn Dreamweaver CS5 & CS5.5 | Adobe TV

    2. Once you have the defined site and can connect, click on the Get (down arrow) command in the files Panel

3 when you are prompted to hit "get the entire Site? Yes

    4. After downloading the entire site, navigate to the Site > Manage Sites > click the site > Edit > servers > click on the remote server > Edit to enter your new GoDaddy FTP Info

    5. after the test connection to check, you can connect, click the command Put (up arrow) in the files Panel

If you have a site already defined for your old Web host, go to #4 above.

  • Dreamweaver doesn't remember site credentials

    Hi Adobe community.

Why my Dreamweaver CC, every time I close and start the Application, only for some sites, in the Site Properties-> servers-> user name and password fields are empty, even though I checked "Save" checkbox?

In my view, is a matter of the Sync Option, just an opinion, but I have no idea how to fix this.

It's really annoying when you need quickly edit a page/script and publish it on record, and it gives you an error of FTP connection.

    Thank you guys.

    This is definitely not normal.

What operating system do you use?

Any kind of version control that you use?

Have you tried normal troubleshooting steps as the clearing the cache of program or restore preferences?

    Deleting a corrupted cache file

    Restore preferences | Dreamweaver CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6

Have you tried to create a new site definition in the existing local root folder to see if maybe it's just the site definition that went corrupt?

Hi, I have Adobe Acrobat Professional. And I would like to create web forms via Adobe for my site. What I have? or is it included in my Acrobat Professional software?

When you say that web forms, do you mean HTML forms or PDF forms? For web forms, Adobe has a number of products, you can use, including FormsCentral and Dreamweaver. For PDF forms, you can create them with Acrobat.

If you want to create HTML forms with FormsCentral, which calls the web forms, you will need a subscription for the FormsCentral service. The FormsCentral application that comes with 11 Acrobat is used to create local PDF forms, but if you want to create web forms with him you will need a subscription. Note that there is a free subscription, but it is quite limited.
