  • Smart HARD drive detects imminent failure on Satellite P

    Hello

I have a message "SMART provides a defect on the disc dur0: TOSHIBA MK5055GSX-(S1)" or (the same in English) "Smart Drive detects imminent failure".
On the newsgroups different 'people' says to change the disk.

My problem is not to change the drive, it's easy. Expensive, but easy.

As I understand it, on each disk from Toshiba, a hidden partition, which allows to restore the machine, with Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator there?.
I would like to change the disc and use the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator? to restore Vista.

How can I reinstall everything what to use Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator? This new disk to reinstall Vista from this new album.

    Thanks for any response.

    > If I understand correctly, each disk Toshiba, there is a hidden partition, which allows to restore the machine, with Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator?

    That s not entirely correct!
The Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator creates the recovery disk! The recovery disk allows to recover the laptop using the drive and not the HARD drive recovery process!

New portable Toshiba supports HARD drive recovery which allows to restore the laptop without the use of the recovery disc!

You can view this document on the HARD drive recovery:

  • HP 15-g094sa Notebook PC: short hard drive DST check failure

Short hard drive DST Check: failure

    Failure ID: PGFB13-7JP81S-XD7WL1-60VN03

Do I need a new hard drive?  He's still on warranty. Bought in the UK but for the moment in the Middle East.  What to do next?

    Thank you

    Miker1

    Hi @MikerP!

I'm sorry to say this, but the 24-character error codes indicates a drive failure, which means that the drive is defective and must be replaced.

You always have access to the data stored on the disk? If you do, then save as much information as possible and look for a replacement drive. If the product is still under warranty, you can contact support, but in case you have no guarantee and you would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself – please let me know.

I hope this helps and good luck!

    Product ID: A7538EA #ABU

Model: PC laptop Presario CQ57 64-bit

I never liked this HP laptop - but to have a drive only hard failure after 1.5 years is ridiculous. I regularly perform system checks/run antivirus etc software

Can someone tell me if this is indeed a hard drive failure? Much else is problematic too - especially the speed.  I have already restored the computer laptop back to factory settings to sort the other probs - a lot of your time.  If I restore settings still is likely to address the problem of restarting?  Thank you

Yes, this error indicates failure of hard drive and need a replacement.

    Hello

Error code 24 characters for short drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

  • W3 - 810 driver Power State failure error (BSOD)

I have a W3-810 Iconia I've upgraded to Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. During a recent update to the 2016 office, I had a blue screen and an error message that a failure of State driver had taken place and the computer needed to restart. After a few moments, the computer restarted and I was able to complete the installation of Office 2016. I remember getting this error during upgrade to Windows 10. Recently, while watching a YouTube video, the Tablet locked up and I got the blue screen again, with the same "Driver Power State Failure" error again. I check the Device Manager and noticed that in the "system devices" all of the "Intel platform dynamics and thermal framework (DPTF)" associates pilots had yellow flags indicating that the drivers did not work properly. When I tried to update the drivers I get a message that the latest drivers are installed.

Someone at - it recommendations to solve this problem? Should I uninstalled all the drivers DPTF and reinstall? Thank you.

Update: I drove all DPTF drivers in back to version 6.2.9200.30457 Device Manager and then restarted the computer. I tested the computer to see if I could cause a BSOD pilot State failure occurred earlier today and it does not happen again. I hope that this solves the problem. Thank you.

  • Diskette drive 0 seek failure

Windows XP Pro is installed. Its a Dell Dimension 8400 series. Question is diskette drive 0 seek failure is. The disk has been disabled. Now stuck in a loop, to select one of the options to start... Windows starts normally, safe mode, last known good configuration, etc.

What other options do I have? THX

    Hi rubenrjr77,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. You are able to access all the boot options?

This would normally occur due to faulty or badly inserted diskette, incorrect settings in the system of entry/sortient system (BIOS), the diskette/tape drive interface cable, or lose the power cable.

I suggest that you check in the system basic input/output system (BIOS), if all the settings are correct, for more information you can contact the manufacturer of the computer.

Important: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • On startup, I get the message following diskette drive 0 seek failure 1 not found drive Serial ATA, SATA 2 strike F-1 key to continue, F2 to run the utility series

At the start of the black screen appears and tells Diskeyye drive 0 seek failure 1 drive not found: Serial ATA, SATA2 strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run the Setup utility, how can I keep this lift every time?

    Hi FRANKDURHAM,

    1. are you able to boot into Windows after the error message?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

3 when was the last time it was working fine?

Usually, this would happen if the hard drive is not set correctly in the basic input/output system (BIOS) or the settings in the basic input/output system (BIOS) are incorrect.

Basic input/output system (BIOS) is a program built into personal computers that starts the operating system when you turn on your computer. It is also referred to as system firmware. Basic input/output system (BIOS) is part of the hardware of your computer and is separate from Windows.

Microsoft cannot provide specific instructions for changing your CMOS and BIOS settings because they are specific to your computer. • Diskette drive 0 seek failure screen black/continue F1, F2 Setup, CORRECTION steps

Have followed the instructions for the BIOS, floppy drive disabled

Has not solved the question-are there - it something else?

That's what I discovered, trying to follow the instructions of several positions of countless times and several Tech IT these past two weeks.  This FIX is actually three steps; Two steps in blue SCREEN, the second of two parts missing in the instructions in the previous post Forum fixes:

    STEP 1. Select "F2" on your SCREEN black Error Message 'diskette drive 0 seek failure;

Missing the 2nd step indicating where 'Floppy' must be DISABLED... is actually in two places.

STEP 2.  Arrow down and SELCET «CMOS...» "near the top of the list - (the keyboard is not active) and on the next screen, arrow down and SELECT -" Floppy Drive-1, 44 is activated "MUST be EXCHANGE FOR: 'DISABLED' (the readers of floppy-1, 44 are obsolete) another menu screen will pop up, to make your selection, the arrow down to select"OFF"and the ECONOMY-F10.

STEP 3  Submenu will return to the MAIN - BLUE SCREEN Menu, you need to arrow down and select BIOS; as stated in previous POSTS and need RESET BIOS to: #1 HD, CD/DVD #2; #3 unable to READ floppies; then select F10 to run, return to the main Menu of previous blue screen; "F10,"saves and exits" you in the main Menu of Blue SCREEN" toCOMPLETE FIX... Windows Start Up, immediately, translates the computer starts normally and returns to theWindows Logo and connection status.

    • (See this correction, corrected an error in the boot order in the BIOS since the 'HD' has been 'DISABLED', floppy drive was 2nd "Enabled" and CD/DVD has been 1st disk "Enabled"; and CMOS had "activated" "Floppy drive-1, 44" that has generated this ERROR BLACK SCREEN and interrupt thenormal Windows process at startup computer n and connection. • 1720 smart hard drive detects imminent failure. do backup - how can I move my files when I get a new hard drive?

Hi, I have "1720 smart hard drive detects imminent failure" made a backup, Gather I have to get another drive. How can I transfer my windows vista / files to new drive? Help, please.

    Hello

There are different ways to do

and these methods depend on your hard drive work

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning to move your operating system software from the old to the new drive hard If your old hard drive still works

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html

also to put your machine how you bought:

    1. If vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new drive hard If the old drive still works

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

Please take I don't know anything in the explanations, I'm pretty new in the field

It would seem that you have a hardware problem.

If under warranty, contact the manufacturer of the computer.

If it's not under warranty contact a local and trusted computer repair, (not a type of installation of the repair shop retail chain).

    See you soon.
