As you can see speed is normal for this drive, so there is something wrong in Windows (no BIOS)!

    Why is it limited?

This sentence is wise, but I fixed it in decrypting my HARD drive. Yes, TrueCrypt limited my hard drive... Now, transfers are normal for this HARD drive (average of 38 MB/s).

  • Time Machine deleted messages on an external drive to the trash can on iMac are taking place on the hard drive?

I am struggling with a computer, try to empty the trash with 1million 300,000 Time machine backup files. It runs for two days now and won't install. At this rate, I'll need a week before my computer becomes viable. I don't feel able to go to the Terminal to do the trick. Also at this point, I'm afraid to stop the process again... Backups on an external drive of pigs 400 GB on my drive hard imac... I have so little room to work right now. I deleted some 200,000 files already yet the storage on my imac HD has not moved. The files in the Recycle Bin of the external drive really live on my hd now until they will be deleted if all goes well before Christmas?

I have a new computer to come next week so I'm wondering if I'll just reformat my entire hd in my imac to solve this problem... Any ideas?

You do all this in the Finder?

Time Machine has to delete the files from the user interface, normally "browsing Time Machine backup", navigate to the desired folder, and select the option "delete all backups of...» ». This is the approved way that should work.

If you are manually dragging the items in the trash of in a Time Machine backup, it can choke. Time Machine stores data with many levels of access control permissions & Finder seems to have difficulties to remove to empty the trash. In fact, I think that the TM drive has limits to prevent normal users to change data on this disk.

Personally, I think your safest option is to abandon the process, restart, erase and reformat the Time Machine drive. Who will lose all history backups but again in a clean condition seems to be better than trying to manually prune the Time Machine data. Time Machine removes old backups when it is full - so you shouldn't really need to intervene like this anyway.

Wait and see if anyone has a better idea.

P.S., each disk has its own "basket", so doing drag items should not fill your Mac startup disk. Maybe the operating system is out of memory, try to process all the files, exit other applications & see if that changes anything, you may have to wait just if you want to avoid to abandon the process.

  • Portege 7200 - HARD drive upgrade

I have a Portege 7200. It was just given to me. There is therefore no documentation or manuals.
I'm interested in upgrading his old 4 GB HARD drive to something more modern. Can someone tell me what could be done to it? I mean - if standard 2.5 "HDD is Ok, is there a limitation of the motherboard/BIOS card as to the maximum size, etc.. ?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    The manual can be downloaded from the Toshiba European page;
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/JSP/home.do?service=EU&from=http%3A//www.Toshiba-Europe.com/

Here, you should go to support downloads & -> user manual for Toshiba.
    In the upload form, you must choose;
    Archive-> Portege Archive-> Portege 7xxx--> Portege 7200

Maybe you will find some info in the user manual.

But I want to provide some details too.
To my knowledge, several versions of BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. I mean that not every size of HARD drive is supported.
I have goggled a bit and discovered that the Toshiba MK1214GAP HARD drive can be used with the Portege 7200. It s a 12 GB HARD drive that supports ATA-2/ATA-3/ATA-4 interface.

    Maybe you could test it.

Hi, my HP Elite 371f desktop computer needs a new internal hard drive. He l just replace one that is in it, or do you recommend a better? I listen to a lot of TV and my nephew likes to play video games on it. THX

    Hello.

According to the specifications of your motherboard, you have 2 ports SATA - 1xSATA I and II 1xSATA, so if you choose, you can add another hard drive and have two separate storage locations. However, remember that I have the speed SATA port will be limited to 1.5 Gb/s, which is the maximum speed available SATA I can reach.

Regarding a specific hard drive that I can recommend, because you want to run applications from the secondary storage unit, you can check WD Black, which is a performance oriented HARD drive with limited 5-year warranty and has good features like a built-in dual-core CPU that makes the ideal player for multitasking , or WD Blue, which is intended for the calculation of daily and he is quite able to run most of the games as well as many programs for editing or programming. Here are some links if you want to take a look:

    WD Blue - http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=iErTRv

  • Maximum hard drive on Portege M200

I recently bought a Portege M200 on ebay and I think to install a new hard drive of 250 GB IDE.
Y at - it a maximum size of hard drive for this model?

    Hello

There is certainly a HARD drive size limitation the point is that the BIOS supports all HARD drive sizes and to be honest I don t think a 25GB HDD would go 0.
I think it s all just too big

Unfortunately, Toshiba doesn't provide details about the possible HARD drive s max
I looked a bit of a found that the M200 was equipped with 60 GB HARD drive
That's why an 80 or maybe a 100 GB HARD disk too should t be a problem

  • Satellite A50-522: what drives are compatible

    Hello

I have the following problem, could someone help me thank you
I have a toshiba satellite a50-522 and the hard drive seems to be dead

While I was looking to replace.
So here's the question; Where can I find a list of the compatible HDD with the laptop?

    Thank you

    Hello

To my knowledge, Toshiba provides official information on hard drives compatible.
But don t worry buddy. I think I could help a bit.
Always is that the Satellite A50 was delivered with the 40 GB drive HARD IDE (ATA-6)
Therefore, you need to use hard drives that support the IDE!
The SATA drives are not compatible!

Now a few words about the size of the HARD drive. Laptops BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and not all HARD drive sizes are supported. But I think 60 or 80 GB would be compatible so just testing everything.

    Best regards

  • Install a new drive HARD satellite 2430 402

I just bought a HARD drive to 120 GB for my S2430-402 and I was wondering if there was some guides on how to open my laptop, remove the old drive and put the new?
    See you soon
    Mike

    Hello

Are you sure that the BIOS will recognize 120 GB HARD drive?
To my knowledge the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and probably the size of 120 GB HARD drive is not compatible. The 2430 Sat came with the 40 GB. Am I wrong? So I m sure that the laptop can handle the s 20 GB, 40 GB and 60 GB HARD drive but I m not sure if the 120 GB will work!

It seems that you will have to test it.
However, to remove the HARD drive, follow the steps below.

    1. turn the computer with the drive of optical media in your body.
2 slide the latch of optical media on the left and then remove the optical media drive.
    3. remove the four black screws that fix the computer HARD disk.
    4. with two fingers, pull the HARD drive using the rear brackets. HARD drive slides out of the connector inside the HARD drive Bay.
    5. pull the HDD of the HARD drive Bay.

Notes; upgrading the HARD drive is not hard, but if you have no experience contact a technician laptop for work.

  • Satellite L20-182 (PSL2XE) & 120 GB HARD drive upgrade

    HELO :)

I'm going to buy a new HARD drive and I think that about 120 GB but I.m not sure if it works in my L20-182 (PSL2XE). The user manual says:
+ "Available in four sizes: 40, 60, 80 and 100 GB." Other drives may adopted in the future. "+ Is - anyone of you tried to put 120 GB? It work? Need BIOS update?

    wooytson

    Hello

The user manual says that you can use up to 100GB HDD for sure.
I think the tough have not been tested on this notebook L20 and it seems that we can only speculate whether it is possible or not.

The problem is that the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. So not all HARD drive sizes are supported. In the worst cases, the BIOS does not recognize the HARD disc.

However, I think that you can test. There is a great chance that a 120 GB might work properly!

  • How to reinstall sound Unimodem driver without reversing the BCM 56 K Modem update Windows automatically installs?

I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional, version 2002, Service Pack 3.

I recently reinstalled my operating system on my Dell Dimension 2400 PC and allowed for automatic updates.  Previously I did not allow updates.  I use very slow dial-up on a BCM 56 k

Voice/Fax/Modem.  My previous connection was about 26 Kbps.

During updates of Windows XP, Microsoft notified me of the update following software:

(Broadcom Corporation - Modems - BCM. v92 56 k Modem, size: 2.8 MB, Broadcom Corporation modem software update published on August 27, 2003.) only the Microsoft Update downloaded and installed on my PC.

After the installation of update BCM, my modem went much more quickly in about 40 Kbps, however, I lost the Unimodem half-duplex audio driver configuration.

After the automatic BCM update, my modem sounds is the audio connection as he had done before.

I checked and the following driver files still exist where they belong: [C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ks.sys; C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\MODEMCSA.sys; C:\Windows\system32\ksproxy.AX; C:\Windows\system32\kuser.dll], however registration is missing in browser, under 'Sound, video and game controllers' Device Manager where it was previously before the upgrade.

How can I reinstall my audio Unimodem half duplex driver without roll back my BCM upgrade?

My audio driver is not my problem.  The speaker still works in my Modem when I have dial-up.  Otherwise, the rest of my sound works fine, so I don't think I need an audio driver.  What's missing on my upgrade was my driver for unimodem half duplex, and everything remained the same after the upgrade.

Here's what's happening.   Often, I reinstall my OS together by formatting my hard drive.  After the initial installation and install the drivers for Dell provided, my modem works fine, but at a slower speed.  When I switched I hear the dial through my external speakers, which I prefer because I have restriction of hearing Audio and can hear it better amplified by the modem speaker.

When I install the update to windows BCM, it accelerates the rate of transfer of my modem, I like, but it removes my driver audio unimodem half duplex, which means I can hear is no longer my dial-up connection to know everything is going well.  The sound comes directly to my modem card, however, due to the location under my desk, my PC I can barely hear the connection is established and can not use this sound for diagnostic purposes if I can't connect.  It allows to hear the connection to remind me in case the line is disconnected or the phone company disconnects and provides their voicemail automated on how to restore our service.

I just want to still hear my modem amplified through my external speakers without losing speed BPS who provided me the upgrade.

Not yet tried to use the dell service tag for Dell drivers.  Don't know how to specify this tag, or if it would provide other drivers that I already downloaded, but will check the next.

In the meantime if anyone has a useful answer as to how I can get my external returning without sacrificing my BPS speed increase, I would like to hear it.

Thanks for all the answers everyone, even if for the time being not useful yet.

I don't think that it is half-duplex driver Unimode (even if I'm wrong).  My XP3 box has a Unimodem full-duplex audio driver "" list in the device under ' Audio, video and game controllers' Manager, and I've never had the modem sounds come through the main speakers.  [The difference between "half-duplex" and "full-duplex" is if you wait until a part expresses before the start of the other or if both parties can talk at the same time.]

Rather, apparently some - but far from everything - modem drivers have a checkbox somewhere in the modem properties dialog box (accessed through Device Manager or control panel > modems Options and) who runs the sound of the system's external speakers.

While you're in the control panel > phone and Modem Options, click on the "Advanced" tab and check the Unimodem 5 Service provider is installed.  It must have been installed by default, but if not, you might want to add (using the 'Add' button).

I suspect that your previous modem driver - which limited the speed of your connection - had the external speaker box, but that the new driver - who has more speed - connect does not work.

It is probably not very satisfactory, but you can increase the volume of the tiny speaker of the modem (a little) by using the "Additional initialization commands" box in the "Advanced tab" in the modem properties dialog box.  There are two relevant orders, the order of M (which determines when the speaker is on) and the command L (which sets the volume of the speaker):

    M0 speaker always off [that's a zero]
M1 Speaker is activated when the modem is off the hook and the carrier is not detected. [default]
M2 The speaker is always on.
M3 Speaker is activated after dialing the ends and turns off when the carrier negotiation is complete.

    L0 low volume
    L1 low volume
    L2 medium volume
    High volume of L3

Orders are entered, preceded by "AT" (without the quotes) in the box "Additional initialization commands", and there is no spaces.  Thus, for example, if you want to hear the sounds, most at very high volume (which unfortunately is usually not very high), you define L3 and M3 by entering the following text in the box:

    ATL3M3

With regard to the number of Dell's Service: on the page linked in my previous post, there is a link "enter serial number".  If you click on this link there is a box to enter your Dell service tag (and yet another link to tell you how to find if you don't know where it is).  Dell uses the "service tag" to identify your specific computer hardware configuration, because the same model Dell (e.g., Dimension 2400) can come with a variety of different hardware options.  Using the service tag is supposed to customize the material presented to you so that it is applicable to your computer.

Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer on your modem sounds.

  • "Receive the error message" Windows cannot find a driver for your network card.

Original title: unable to connect to the internet. Perhaps driver problems?

I installed windows 7 on a blank hard drive.

Everything seems to be fine. When I open solitarie it is said ' Harware acceleration is disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow down the performance of the game. "
A mistake is over that I noticed that I can not connect to internet.
My ethernet cable is fine, he hooked directly to the wireless router. so I troubleshoot-made it and the error is "Windows could not fine a driver for your network adapter" HELP Please thank you.

If you have recently installed Windows 7, you must also install the device drivers for your hardware.  Windows has some drivers shipped with the operating system, but away from it all.  They are not necessarily the best drivers.  For example, you may be using a generic video driver with limited capabilities.

Looks like you need at least the network adapter and video drivers.   It is best to get their form your computer factory web site.  You need to get the Ethernet disk using another computer to get to the line at the start.

I recommend that you check device manager and see what other devices may need to update.
