Drive on Pavillion G7 failure

I have a HP Pavillion G7 1083nr running Windows 7, which gives the message "imminent disk failure.  I tried to run the tests on the other boards, and they all show failure (the hard drive and the battery test), but do not give any particular message of error themselves.  I tried to run chkdsk.  He ran through all 5 sections and reported no errors or bad sectors.  I am resigned to replace the hard drive.   I would like more information (or where) on how to replace the hard drive and you place your order of recovery discs and if these disks will reinstall the operating system.

See page #51 of the HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide of g7 for teaching about replacing the drive hard on your laptop HP Pavilion g7-1083nr.

As a general rule, a "SMART disk error" indicates that the hard disk has failed or is about to fail. Please replace the hard drive with a similar replacement solve your problem. After replacing the hard drive... you need to use the HP recovery media, you created when you first set up your computer, return the computer to a factory State.

If you create this media, please see DVD - Windows 7 64 b + Supp 2 Recovery Kit contact official HP customer care in your region / country, via the Portal Support HP's worldwide, to see if the HP recovery support is available for your computer. Software may not be covered by warranty, and there may be fees for the HP recovery media.

  • Don't drive HP Pavillion G6 2210SA RED hard failure no bootable image message

    Hello

I'm sure that the hard drive has failed. I tried reset hard with and without mains. I left the power on and after a while, I get a message saying that the selected boot image is not authenticated. I went into the BIOS, but there is no Diagnostics tool to test the hard drive.

I'm happy to have another hard drive (if you can confirm that this is the question), but how to install Windows 8 once I have reinstall the hard drive? I can't even find my phone on the support forum and even fewer know about recovering from a hard drive failure.

Can someone help please? Thank you.

No, the product number is encoded in the BIOS so you only have the recovery disks.

  • Possible hard drive after clean install failure

Appreciate it really all thoughts on this issue, because it drives me crazy and apparently get worse...

I added 8 GB of RAM and an SSD Samsung 840 PRO in a Mac mini in 2011 about three years ago. At the time, the Fusion drive has just been introduced, and I found the online instructions to configure the combo HD SSD/existing as a Fusion player. After ironing out a few bugs, it worked perfectly (at least from the point of view of the user) for nearly three years. Significant speed increase, could handle more intensive applications of multiple users, etc.

Three weeks ago, I decided to do a clean install. I wanted to get rid of all accumulated waste, as well as some of the Notification Center widgets don't work properly. Immediately I noticed the startup time is longer, but once connected, all seemed well. Just moved old files to the new system from a Time Machine backup, and everything worked well. In disk utility, it looked as if the OS has created two discs as a Fusion player, so I left as what.

A week ago, I started notice stuttering in the downloaded movies in iTunes, which never happened before. Around the same time I started having the spinning beachball while running almost nothing: Safari with less than 10 tabs open (no video game), iTunes (inactive), Mail, etc... Impose anything. I performed first aid in disk utility and found no problem. I kept the activity monitor for the last 24 hours with nothing significant, other apps does not not showing the spinning ball.

I saw someone else evoke here EtreCheck, so I did that and got two red warnings:

I think it is obvious that you have a disk failure. Could be the SSD, HD, or both.

    Hello

The error code 24 characters is a disk failure short self-test and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the problems you describe.

If you want to replace it yourself, it is quite inexpensive - a brief guide on this is below.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive starts on Page 54 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

As you have upgraded to Windows 10 and as long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the upgrade, you can simply use another PC to create the installation media for Windows 10 and then perform a new installation - it is all detailed in the guide on the following link.  Note: On the activation screen, select "I don't have a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-Windows-10/

Regarding the existing personal folders on the failed disk, one possibility would be to place it in an external enclosure - is an example of the link below - connect to another PC and see if you can access your files.

All of a sudden I'm getting blue screened when he returns to mode 'sleep' and get the error message "driver power state failure." and it takes forever to do restart and operation. Hello

Unfortunately, it seems that you will need to replace the HARD drive - the error code for short drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

The disc is a warranty item, so if your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP (with the error code 24 characters) and arrange for the replaced disk - you can check your warranty status here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • EliteBook 8540p: HARD drive, out of warranty failure

Our laptop Elitebook 8540 P gives a terrible warning about the imminent demise of the hard drive.

    Failure ID is 90F953-5B67SD-XD7U3A - 60A 503

    Product ID is XT924UA #ABA

    Capacity is 320 GB

So, looks like it's time to replace the HARD drive. I saved the document, making a system image and a repair disk. My question is, how do I proceed from here?

It would also be nice to know why the warnings are produced. Operation seems normal.

    See you soon.

    Gerry6

The warning is a good thing - in a bad situation. The hard drive is under surveillance and warning is always a heads-up before he finally dies on you, so you can get a backup.

You can buy a Mobile SATA Hard Drive to install and then start with your repair disk to restore the Image of detail. Just be sure to get a capacity at least equal as the 320 GB or more.

  • Moving from one machine to another HARD drive because of hardware failure, need to reactivate. Need help.

Trying to help someone, their Compaq PC dies M/B or failure of the CPU. I am replacing a similar age of old IBM ThinkCentre o. Both machines have a valid XP license attached, the Compaq has XP Home, IBM has XP Pro. When installing the IBM HARD disk, I get the message that it must be enabled before it can connect, activation fails try to use the automated system, and when I called and tried to talk with a MicroSmurf of India, the female [explitive omitted] disconnected the call before I could try to explain the situation. (Both for customer service).

I need to know how to get this thing to validate and let me log, because, at the very least, I kinda need to run the file and Settings Transfer Wizard so everything works out on an external drive.

I tried to use the Hack on MyDigitalLife, Yes, I know, designed for crackers, but it is legitimate, but the tool it is infected with a Trojan, so I had to spend.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Remember that here, there is no attempt to violate the license: the 'new' machine has a valid license attached, the OS just needs to be informed of such.

    Thank you

Licenses on these machines are more likely to OEM licenses and so are related to the first machine to which they were installed on.  So, when your Compaq is dead, then no license.  What you need to do is install the Compaq drive has failed as an extra drive (secondary) on the IBM. Sometimes, when you do this, the computer will attempt to start since incorrect disk.  If when you start your IBM machine, you must press the key at the beginning that sends you in the settings of the BIOS on the computer.  Somewhere in the BIOS settings, you must specify that you want the IBM to boot from the original disk which has been in the IBM instead of the disk from Compaq.  Once you do this, IBM should start from its own drive without licensing issues.  You should then see the Compaq drive mounted as a secondary drive under "My Computer".  You will then be able to copy or back up files, you need to save this record.

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

This "might" be a power problem, even if this isn't the most common cause - in this case
It seems that the PSU could be the fault.

9F is probably a driver issue. Security/antivirus/antispware programs can also cause these issues.
Have you added the recent devices or the updated drivers - don't forget to check in the Windows updates to see
If a driver has been updated before this happen. This can also be caused by a loose card or cable
and even a weak power supply.

This error means that a driver does not properly support the power state. Check in Control Panel - device

  • HP mini says check Smart hard drive detected an immenent failure

Went to use my mini and he had a black screen with a warning about the content of backup immediately because it has detected a failure immennent.  It won't let me something but run the proposed test and the test of hard drive has failed in this regard, a HP mini 110-3100. Not even yet 3 years old.  Can someone tell me if I lost all that on it or if there is a fix that I can do myself or take home. Could what cost be, no idea?

    Please and thank you!

Probably the best chance to recover all your files would be to remove the hard drive. Then attach it to a > hdd USB adapter or a > USB hdd Enclosure. Plug it into a machine via USB and hard drive will appear as a drive to extra storage that you can browse and copy files on the hard drive of the machine to work. Of course, it depends on how much life is left in the drive.
