Drive renamed LR CC

I set up a backup system to have two backup drives and renamed the reader that all my photos are on "Backup plus Seagate drive" (generic name) to "backup Seagate 1 - Black. Then I uploaded the photos I took today for her. Now LR can not find old photos from 9,000 + on this drive because it has been renamed. The older photos are showing up in the library, but all records are grayed out.

I read on the forum looking for an answer, and none seems to cover my situation. Because LR cannot 'see' this newly named player I can't use suggestions earlier as "Update folder location" because records are grayed out. When I click on 'Find the missing folder' I get a message "the selected folder or one of its subfolders is already in Lightroom. You want to combine these files? "And then he asks me to cancel or 'MERGE '. I kinda afraid to merge maybe I'll screw something up and be irreparably lost.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Sorry for my unclear language. All my photos are on a separate drive from my computer, I need to plug in to work with the images in LR or PS I respect not all images on my computer, because it doesn't have that much space (250GB). I decided that I needed a second copy of all of my photos on a second separate disk.

For what purpose? If this 2nd disc is a backup drive you should use Sync backup software or a file separated to keep two external drives "synchronized."

PoetDoc wrote:

I'm hosting LR to make "backups" whenever he requested after the application is closed. I have no idea where the backups are stored.

LR backups only backup of the catalog LR file... nothing else! You can select the location of the backup folder, as shown below. I suggest to choose a folder location on your external drive #1 who is also saved on disk #2 and all your photo folders. Once again, the best way to do it is using backup or a synchronization software... separate file no copy & paste.

PoetDoc wrote:

So my question is, can I rename an external drive and have LR understand how to find the images contained on this newly appointed record and link to images already in LR on my computer, the new name for the reader?

Yes, but you must "locate" and "reconnect" the renamed folder from within LR, as has already been explained. This article may be useful: reconnect missing files and Photos in Lightroom CC | Peachpit

  • External hard drive renamed J k. How can I meet him at K?

I have used Windows 7 Pro for 6 months now. I also backup using Acronis. Everything was back up fine on drive K. However, last week I connected for the first time another external hard drive to use a few photos on this topic. I did not notice what drive letter it assigned. Last night when my backup was planned, he could not save because he back - up drive K, but it showed as reader J.

I assumed it was something to do with me using this another external drive for the first time last week. So I unplugged the power cord on this new disc (earlier in the week that I have had removed safely by just unplugging the USB and then turn off the power strip that has external drives on this subject). I then stop, and turn it back on and turning on the external drive power strip, I was hoping that my external origin 'Back-up' would return to drive K, but there is drive J.

How do I make my external original identify as drive K so my backups can run?

And what I can do to prevent that happening, because I need to use the other hard drive periodically?

    Thank you

    Steve

You must remove this particular device to the drive letter before they can be assigned to another device,

If the device is a reader of card win 7 does not let you delete the drive letters unless there is inserted media.
-No problems with removal XP / assignment of drive letters to media without inserted media players

If the device is a card reader internal, you will need to insert a card into the reader
Right-click on the block that has the info in there.
you will get the context menu
change drive letters and paths to remove unit K:
or if you don't have a compatible card to the reader
you will need to uninstall it from the Device Manager to free the drive letter

If it is an external USB card reader simply unplug to release K:

  • External drive Renamed itself in LR5

    HI -.

I have had two drives connected to the LR with the same name (which is stupid, I know, but it was a mistake).  They were two named Media.  Since the realization of this screw-up, I unplugged the old drive media, but not until after LR has tried to remedy the problem by naming my latest drive (the one that holds all of my photos) Media 1.  Mac system see Media Player, so the problem is not in Mac OS.  How do I change the name of the drive to Media in LR so my photos can be found by LR?  I have more 100 000 photos on the renowned LR disc.

    Hope it makes sense.

    Mac OS 10.10.5

    LR CC 2015.3

If you need to reconnect photos in Lightroom so that the drive is detected as a 'Média' and not 'media 1 "then follow these instructions to connect to the top-level folder, and then all subfolders will also be connected through this operation.

  • Replacing the hard drive in a z61t

    I have a ThinkPad z61t (9441-4SE) with a 80 GB hard drive and I would like to replace it. Both drives I look are Hitachi 5K 320 (320GB) and Hitachi 5 K 500. B (500 GB).

These readers are compatible with the Active Protection system and with my laptop? I really don't want to spend twice as much on a Lenovo drive (which is simply a Hitachi drive renamed).

Also, is there a size limit of the z61t HDD? I noticed that Lenovo website only lists a 320 GB drive for a z61t, but sells 500 GB disks for other ThinkPad models.

    Thank you.

First Lenovo didn't just use drive HARD Hitachi, they also use Seagate and fujitsu too.

As long as the hard drive is 9.5 mm thick, 2.5-inch form factor SATA drive, then it is correct. 500 gig is possible, I used one in a Z61t.

  • Question about file names and organization

    Background

I connected my camera to my iMac and downloaded my photos directly into iPhoto without ever thinking about it. I just thought it was the way to do it.  Now that I began to rethink the organization / structure of how I want to drop my photos I find myself with what to do on all my previous photos.

    Question

I am wanting to rename all the photos of my real FILE NAME to a certain format that I read recently on the subject, and I wonder about how this topic with all the previous pictures I imported into iPhoto.

Is my only option to EXPORT all of the photos to a certain spot on my hard drive, rename them and then re - import in the iPhoto library, or possibly create a whole new library?

I understand that the change of name to a photo in iPhoto does nothing for the name of the file on the computer so I'm looking for all of the options that I might have.

    iPhoto v9.5.1

    iMac 27 end 2009

    OS X 10.9.5

    3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo

    16 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Is my only option to EXPORT all of the photos to a certain spot on my hard drive, rename them and then re - import in the iPhoto library, or possibly create a whole new library?

Yes. It's your only option to change the file names.  But here's the thing: If the photo is in iPhoto, then the file name is not just serious. Not at all. Never.

So it would be totally useless.

Replace the title by any means, and then if you move ever leaving iPhoto you can export using the title as the file name.

I don't know what naming scheme you will think, but be sure that it involves no character ' / '. Avoid colon.

  • Update BIOS not in Windows?

    Laptop: dv4-5121tx

How to upgrade to recent versions of BIOS from a USB port? I checked MANY pages in this regard. But they all refer to BIOS distributed in different formats and does not work for me.

The BIOS file, sp66897.exe (last version, F.39) and sp60266.exe (previous version known to work, F.34), contains the following files

    01837.FD
    FlsHook.exe
    FlsHookDll.dll
    FWUpdLcl.exe
    InsydeFlash.exe
    iscflash.dll
    iscflash.sys
    iscflashx64.sys
    Platform.ini
    Xerces - c_2_7.dll

There is none. BIN for. GIS files.

I copied all the files on USB drive, renamed HP_TOOLS, in Notepad and 01837.fd drive copy of all of the different names appeared in other pages, connect the USB and power on with the Windows key + B down. End result is a black screen and flashing Caps Lock LED.

Is it possible to recent BIOS update from USB? Or can I update in Ubuntu / WinPE or any other bootable device?

    Background:

I took the laptop to it to the HP service center. Because I need to use the hard drive (formatted with TPG), I asked to removed the hard drive and HP engineer did. After repair, the laptop says something like «no device startup...» ». It is found that the BIOS has been DOWNGRADED to e.17 (initially F.34), which did not support GPT.

Therefore, I need to update the BIOS and any method that requires the local hard disk is not usable.

The hard drive quick test could run in the BIOS. This means that the hardware is OK. But the laptop doesn't know how to boot from the disc.

I want to solve this problem by myself, because visiting HP Service Center is an EXTERMELY UNPLEASANT experience.

Finally, updated the bios in windows pe.

  • I can't rename my hard drive.

When I try and rename the hard drive of my iMac, I get the message: "name... cannot be used. "Try using a name with fewer characters, or no punctuation." I know I'm trying to change my name is in the right format - not too many characters or punctuation.

    I'm running OS X 10.11.4 on a 21.5 "iMac Late 2009 (3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) with 8 GB of RAM.

Recently, I replaced the optical drive with an SSD, leaving the original 500 GB to 500 GB HARD drive. After you have installed the SSD, I used TechTool Pro 8 to clone the SSD HARD drive. I have now boot from SSD, and that is that I started to boot from the SSD I have this problem. If I boot from the HARD disk, which always has the operating system installed, I am able to change the name of the SSD, but not when booted from the SSD.

    Thanks for any help!

I don't know why you may not be able to change the name, but it seems that you have a solution - just rename the SSD at the start of the HD.

You may want to try to start mode safe (from the SSD), and then restart normally and see that this clears the problem.

  • Rename the Alu Stor E 2.5 drive "

    Hello world

I just bought a Toshiba Stor E Alu 2.5 "500 GB and it showed only 465 GB capacity I stupidly did a quick format of my Dell Latitude 110 L laptop running Win XP pro.

Since then the name of disc that I put in the properties is not recognized, and even though I have the rename, the only label that keeps returning under explore is "Toshiba USB - HDD".

It is not a big problem because the drive is still working properly, but for a purchase up, it's pretty boring.

  • can I rename my c: drive?

I replaced a faulty hard drive and when I was installing Windows XP the new hard drive is now the H drive.  Unfortunately, I had a multiple format card reader in the system at the time wherever I have it loaded Windows.  Is it possible that I can rename and redirect the new hard drive to the C?

In the case of a new installation - your best bet is to disconnect the card reader and any other device and format/install Windows again.

Other things to try/test. I don't know if you have tried these things or not.

    1. are you able to rename the files/folders on a drive different from the system external hard? If not, then maybe some infection had damaged you Windows files. If this is the case, then you can try the (sfc/scannow) System File Checker or a repair installation, or do a clean installation of Windows. There is no way for me to know the exact state of your computer from here, or what would be best for you to do.

    2. can you rename the files/folders on the hard disc of origin if it is attached to another computer? If Yes, the problem points to your original operating system is damaged by the virus. If not, then the virus probably damaged files on the external hard drive. It is not uncommon, especially if you have been infected by a kind of ransomware. Again, I have no way of knowing that you have been infected.

    3. If you can rename the files/folders on a different hard disk, you can also try to move the data off the external problem, formatting and see if you can rename the files now.

And that's all I have. Good luck in your efforts. I have nothing else to add about this.
