Driver compatibility: Envy M6-K615dx Windows 7

I bought a desire M6-k615dx that came pre-installed with Windows 8 (which I hate). I want to downgrade to Windows 7. Given that this laptop has been designed to work with Windows 8, I want to know what drivers will be retro-compatible with Win 7. Y at - it somewhere that I can list?

Thank you!

Hello

Sorry, there is no way to know exactly what will be done. For the most part, Windows will install drivers for all the features required to make your laptop work. You can even run Windows updates to see if that provides additional drivers for you. But you may lose programs such as Beats Audio, SimplePass, CoolSense, Cyberlink are just a few examples. None of this will affect how something works, but you will lose the customization of programs/software can offer.

    Hello

I just bought a HP Envy 17 - j020us today. It came stock with Windows 8 is installed and I have, for my own reasons, decided to install Windows 7 above. Long story short, the installation has worked, for the most part. The only problem was that I was missing some drivers. I searched and found http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/ENVY-17-j020us-windows-7-driver... which was very helpful. However, there's still about 3 pieces of material that is not installed, the drivers with the network controller. Hi all I set up my cell phone before installing Windows 7.  The compatibility check says I need to download the latest driver for Realtek RTL8139/810xFamily Fast Ethernet Realtek Semiconductor NIC and before reinstalling after installing Windows 7.  However, when I tried to do this Realtek said it is not available. Any advice on what to do? If I install Windows 7 I'll be without driver, really worried then. Thank you in advance, really need help. Thank you in advance, Ros

If the manufacturer of the hardware does not support the operating system to use, the only possibilities are driver compatibility mode Setup, hope that works of an integrated 'generic' or replace such hardware with something that is supported on the operating system, that you choose to run by the manufacturer of said material.

You say that you have started from the XP CD, but something is wrong with that
you do. Just boot from the CD and follow the prompts for a

However, if I turn off the PC with a bootable CD/DVD in there, the PC recognize the media and initiate the CD when turned on. This confirms that the DVD/CD drive actually works, but for some stupid reason, Microsoft Windows 8 Professional will not recognize the same DVD/CD player it loaded since! Thanks again Microsoft for another product of shit. Now, how are you going to fix this? Description of the problem:

Optical drive is not recognized in Windows 8.1 (x 64) or in the UEFI System Diagnostics.

    Steps to recreate:

    UEFI:

    1. Start the PC in diagnosis system UEFI (F2 at the STATION)
    2. Pane controls
    3. Optical drive
    4. Sequential control
    5. Error: Optical drive not installed.

    8.1 Windows (x 64):

    1. Run Device Manager
    2. Error: No CD/DVD Drives section.
    3. Search for new hardware changes nothing.

    Relevant system specs:

Mobile: HP Pavilion 15-n023sa (construction of vanilla)

    Optical drive: HP DVDRAM gu70n

    Steps already taken to solve:

    • Replaced the DVD drive with one of the similar specs of HP Pavilion. The replaced gn70n perfectly in the other machine. No change on problem laptop. Conclusion: DVD player works, and there is no problems with Windows 8.1 (x 64).
    • Removed DVD player. Restarted the computer. Sign in to Windows. Stop. Replace the DVD drive. Start the laptop. This is trying to solve defects of material with the PnP devices; more help to solve any problems of intermittent loose connection. Conclusion: No change.
    • Ran, troubleshooting of hardware and devices, via the control panel. Problem found: material changes may not have been detected. Explore more options just takes you through http://social.answers.microsoft.com/search/en-us/?query=hardware+device, that it is a 404 error page. Conclusion: Help and Support Windows is sorely lacking. They show no more information than just that something was detected as incorrect.
    • Ran the Microsoft FixIt troubleshooting of optical disc and auto repairman. (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/5/8/F586FB7C-78E0-40EB-AF41-4C925F803CAF/CDDVDWin8.meta.dia... The convenience store has reported that the device was not found. He recommended to remove all power cables, power off, and various other things which have no relevance for computer laptop troubleshooting of switching equipment. He said: If the problem persists, contact the manufacturer. Conclusion: Windows troubleshooting can not solve the problem.
    • Run Windows Update to ensure that all updates and definitions have been installed. Conclusion: Windows is perfectly up to date.
    • Run a complete Rootkit and malware using Sbybot S & D 2.3 heuristic analysis. as a signature database scan using Windows Defender. Conclusion: Laptop is clean of rootkits and malware, to the best of my knowledge.

    Notes:

The DVD player is NOT appear in Device Manager, OR in this PC.

The DVD drive is NOT detected by diagnostics system UEFI.

There is reference to the DVD in BIOS drive NUMBER , other than as an option of Setup, which is generic.

The DVD player itself, works and has been verified on a different machine.

The only possible conclusion is that the optical drive port mini-SATA on the motherboard is dead.

  • CD/DVD drive does not appear in Windows 8

My CD/DVD drive no longer appears in Windows Explorer in point 8.1 of Windows on my desktop HP Pavilion Slimline 400-034. The disc rotates during startup. I tried the troubleshooting of Microsoft Window 8 with no luck. I would try the HP troubleshooting which requires access BIOS when booting, but by pressing F10 at startup me does not BIOS but Windows load normally. Any suggestions to at least help me get the BIOS?

Solved! No. thanks to HP. Even if I had never opened the file on my PC and make sure that the cable DVD could not be disconnected, I decided to look for. Much to my surprise, he has been disconnected - but not by me - by a HP technician. I remembered that I had to return the PC to HP to replace the power supply warranty in June 2014. Not only have they not reconnect the cable SATA DVD, they put the cable from the hard drive in the MB connector where the DVD cable was supposed to be. After trial and error and insert the DVD cable in the 3 open SATA connectors with no luck, and finally move the cable from the hard drive to another connector and put the cable DVD where the cable from the hard drive was, the DVD has been recognized by Windows and working correctly. Thanks to HP for the many hours I lost to try to correct their mistake.

  • Is no longer possible to write on the drive CD - RW with Windows XP SP3. Could write to the drive of CD-ROM under Windows XP SP1. How can I find a cd - rw disk write access?

My Dell Dimension 8250 with XP was initially equipped with Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.2.0.91 which enabled me to write on the CD drive (NEC CD - RW NR-9100). Later found out that the installation of Service Packs (2 or 3) disabled this feature. In an attempt to burn a CD will result in cancellation error during the writing process. Running MS Fixit tells me that my records are incapable of burning. I tried to uninstall Roxio Easy CD Creator via the Control Panel Add/Remove Harware/software and then reinstalled Easy CD Creator. Upon restart, this caused re-installing my computer immediately close with a blue screen message that the problem was caused by the fault of the file Cdr4_xp.sys (Driver_unloaded_without_cancelling_pending_operations). Then, I restored to a previous/y configuration work and uninstalled the Easy CD Creator. I can still read CD, simply, I can't burn. My question is, what can be done to restore this ability of burning CD or what kind of options are available for me to find this feature?

Note: Reading other forums (Roxio and others), I find that Roxio Easy CD Creator does not work with Windows XP. The upgrade to another operating system is not an option that I need XP for other devices that are not compatible with Vista and a later version of the Windows operating system.

I hope that you may be able to help.

Sorry, I wanted to write in my notation at the end, was that Service Pack 1 of Windows XP works with Roxio Easy CD creator that came with the machine. However, after later SP, writing ability fails. That is what I had read in the forums, and what seems to me be a.

This isn't a correct information.  At least, Roxio Easy CD Creator v. 5.3.2.35a works fine on my XP Pro sp3 machine.

Of course, this information didn't you all good... and at this point, after running a FixIt, uninstall, reinstall, do a system restore, and everything you have done, I have particularly good advice to get the CD Creator to work for you.

If you want to try something (with a small chance to make matters worse - assuming that you can now get the CD player to burn using integrated Windows - see the article cited by Shenan Stanley), here you go...

Download Easy CD Creater 5.3.5: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cd_dvd/burning/easy_cd_creator_plt_upgrade.cfm this download, however, is an upgrade, and I don't know if it will install after uninstalling the version 5.2.0.  Assuming that you can not install this update in your current...

What you could try - and no guarantees here - is to download the trial version of Revo Uninstaller Pro and run it in progressively more aggressive modes, until you get to the mode "forced uninstall" to ensure that all traces of your previous installation of Roxio is gone.

After you have uninstalled all traces of the Roxio program, run system restore to create a restore (just in case) and then open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK), right click on your CD drive and select uninstall.  Restart Windows should detect the CD drive and install the default Windows drivers.

Then, reinstall your current install media Roxio and finally install the 5.3 update.

As an alternative to the last step - especially if you're hesitant to download software from the site of AfterDawn (I don't know anything on them, one way or the other), you can buy a full version (but open box) of Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum for around $11 or 6 Platinum for $7

  • C drive is too full of windows files, they make more concise?

My old computer is running xp and has a 20 GB C drive.  I also have an external hard drive 500 GB, where I store most of the data files.  I run C cleaner and remove programs, I do not use.  My drive is too full to defragment, and I don't have enough space to install office Pro 2007 for work.

The composition of my C drive includes; 7.1 GB Windows, 2.6 Docs & settings, 2.5 GB of program files, 2.2 GB System Volume Information, 1.1 GB of files and the rest is negligible.  I suspect a lot of windows stuff could be deleted, but do not know how to determine what is important.

I would disable restoring the system to the outside you don't need on this

    Is that hibernation .

Lowering of the system restore on C has nothing to do with the external hard drive. It will have its own settings. If you use your external for backup, I wouldn't bother with system restore. System Restore is generally used for programs that have been installed. Or maybe if your system is infected with something (you turn it off)

The only thing system restore is good because houses viruses / Trojan / malware. If your system is infected. I would like to turn it off

  • Error installation software device driver for removable devices in Windows Vista x 64

I have Windows Vista x 64 installed on my PC and nVidia Forceware motherboard and graphic cards.

When I plug in any removable drive into my USB 2.0 port, Windows starts the installation of the device driver software and then sees it as an unknown device. The dialog where he asks me if I want to 'locate and install driver software', 'Ask Me later' or 'don't show this message for this device.

I select the recommended option: "locate and install driver software.

I click 'Continue' when Windows asks me permission to continue.

Then, when the execution of the installer of the software in the bottom right of my screen, the installation of driver software for device, it shows "unidentified device failed.

Then another window pops up saying this:

"Found New Hardware - device unknown".

Windows encountered a problem installing the software driver for your device

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error trying to install it.

    Kodak

An error occurred during the installation of the device:

The driver for this device is missing a necessary entry. Maybe it's because the file INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit their website and check the support section for driver software. »

That's what he does when I'm trying to connect my Kodak Easyshare M550 digital camera. I would go ahead and contact Kodak, but the problem seems to extend to ANY removable device on my computer.

For example, I have a Lexar Flashdrive. When I plug it into my USB 2.0 port, it Windows says the following:

"Windows needs to install driver software for your USB Flash Drive", etc...

'Install the device driver software', 'USB Flash Drive search Windows Update'...

Then a window opens asking me to "insert the disk that came with your USB key. Problem is that no driver disk not supplied with the hardware that Windows Vista is supposed to come with the drivers. I know this because the camera and usb flash drive worked very well until I reinstalled Windows Vista on my new hard drive (new installation, because my old hard drive crashed) and I've NEVER had to install device drivers for Windows to recognize it as a removable drive and operate automatically.

Also, I installed Daemon Tools Lite and I had to manually "Update" the device driver to point to the "Windows\INF" folder in my hard drive, after copying the cdrom files needed for the specific subfolders for windows to let the program assign a drive letter for the drive virtual it creates.

I think that perhaps not all device drivers have been installed when I installed Windows Vista, this time. If that's the problem, I don't know how that could happen, nor how to fix it, but I really prefer to find a way to solve this problem without reinstalling Windows Vista again. I don't mind not manually install the drivers as long as someone can show me what files to copy and where to find them on the Windows Vista disk that I bought at Microsoft. I KNOW that Windows HAS come with these drivers.

If anyone knows how I can fix this, please tell me, because it's ridiculous to not be able to use any removable device readers (except for the use of all Flash drives). Thanks in advance.

I know it can be frustrating to solve problems.
