Driver printer installation problems

I am trying to install a Brother MFC 7420 printer. I am running Windows Vista 64 bit on a HP Pavilion laptop. At one point, I was able to install the drivers and use the printer, but unable to use the scan or OCR functions. I uninstalled the drivers (obtained from the manufacturers Web site) and tried to reinstall them. When the computer asks me to turn on the printer and connect the USB cable, I get the error message "USB device not recognized" and installation hangs up right there. I uninstalled, closed and restarted my laptop several times and get the same response. A curious thing. The control center just the printer even after uninstalling the drivers.

Thoughts?

Look under programs and features in Control Panel and look for other applications that can refer to your printer.  If you find all remove and try the install again.

Another possibility would be to try the compatibility mode for XP for the installer.

Either way, after you get the printer running again manually check Windows updates in the drivers section for updated drivers available for the printer.

  • Printer installation problem. Watch is printers and fax machines, but does not print

I had to move my printers due to a collapse of the motherboard.   I moved my HP DeskJet 710C from a computer (under XP SP3, through LPT1:, where he was part of a network home and works very well) to another computer, also under XP SP3 on the same network, but who doesn't have a printer port.   I replace the cable with a USB printer and I tried to install if via a port USB001 printer.   The machine seems to install the printer (manually - it is not automatically find) and it shows in the printers and Faxes folder.   However, it does not print.   Any document disappears into the other, is not listed as a document to print, but it does not reach the printer.    I did everything I can find listed on the HP web site and run the FixIt program nothing works.   A search for network printers, are looking for a printer, provides a list, of which some are listed as invalid.   I think that I had uninstalled to printers to my computer until I tried to install this printer.   Now, I wonder if these "invalid" entries are mucking up of my installation.   How can I remove 'Invalid printer' names in my list of installed printers.   It seems in any simple way.

I have my sure others must have had similar problems, but I can't find it on the net.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thank you, Tom,.

I have found no useful HP support. They seem to only want to buy a new printer, but if I can't install my old I'll be able to install a new one? Or > when you think that you download using them, you actually download scanning for the third-party driver software, which has then finds all kinds of driver problems > and wants you to pay to get them replaced or updated.

This isn't HP; That's the scammers try to sell you anything for an exorbitant price.

As the computer receives automatic updates from Microsoft and works well otherwise, I do not trust software that detects problems everywhere in my machine. Or am I > stupid? Or is it driver/driver scanner software update that you can trust?

Most of the pilot sites is not trustworthy. I used Device Doctor and found useful. There no drivers to download IIRC; It just tells you that drivers must update and where to find them. Here is an article on this subject (and no, that Thomas is not me):

    Hi Scott,.

    • What exactly happens when you try to install the network printer?
    • You receive an error message?
    • What is the network printer connected via an Ethernet or wireless?

However, you can access the link below and follow the steps in the article to install the network printer and check if it helps.

  • Printer installation problems

    Separated from this thread.

    Hi all

This is the first post I do on the forum.

In fact, I also have the problem with my laptop. It is a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7 (x 64). The issue began just after I installed the drivers for my HP Deskjet 1000 - printer J 110a. It only printed the page test and after that, he stopped working as well as other virtual printers who were there in my system (i.e: XPS writer, OneNote, writer DoPDF and PaperPort). I uninstalled the HP driver and the other the virtual printer drivers, but it is always invites me to install drivers when sending documents for these printers. After a deep search in the web, I think that the cause occurs due to the HP printer driver.

I ran the Microsoft FixIt tool that is posted above, but it couldn't fix the problem. I have some solutions through changes to the windows registry, but here I think it's dangerous to do since I do not know much about the instructions that appear elsewhere. Thus, it would be very useful if someone from the community can provide a solution step by step to solve the problem without going to a system wipe-out.

Thank you and have a nice day :)

Make sure your Deskjet 1000 is NOT connected to the computer.

If you have problems following the instructions below, let me know when the problem occurred, what happened, and the full text of the error message.

Reinstall the XPS Document Writer as follows:

    1. Click Start , and then select devices and printers.
    2. Click Add a printer.
    3. Select Add a local printer.
    4. Select use an existing port.
    5. Select the Port of XPS , and then click Next.
    6. In the manufacturer list, choose Microsoft.
    7. On the right side, choose the most recent version of the XPS document writer, and then click Next.
    8. Choose the currently installed driver, click Next, and then click Finish.

Note: If the XPS Port is not available, perform the following steps:

    1. Click on Add printer.
    2. Choose Add a local printer.
    3. Select create a new port.
    4. Select Local Port , and then click on Next.
    5. In the enter a name field port, type Port XPS, and then click on OK.
    6. In the manufacturer list, choose Microsoft.
    7. On the right side, choose the most recent version of the XPS Document Writer, and then click on Next.
    8. Select use the driver that is currently installed, and then click on Next.
    9. Name of the printer must be Microsoft XPS Document Writer, and then click on Next.
    10. Select the Do not share printeroption, and then click Next.
    11. Click end.

Note: leave the XPS Document Writer as the printer default for now because the only other printer you have is the fax printer.

When you are done with the above, restart the computer.

    • Open an application simple processing such as Notepad and type a few lines at random.
    • Go to the print function of the application (for example, file > print), select the XPS Document Writer as the printer and click on the button 'print '.
    • A window "save the file under ' should open.   Note the folder where the file should be saved (it's probably 'Documents' - you can change if you wish), type a file name that remind you and press the Save"" button.
    • Find the *.xps file and double-click it.
    • What is going on?  -The file should open the "XPS Viewer' and you should see the text you have created.

Assuming all goes well, re - install the XPS Document Writer, follow these steps:

    Create a system restore point:

    1. System opened by clicking on the button start , right click on computer and then click Properties.

    2. In the left pane, click system protection. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. Click the System Protection tab and then click on create.

  • In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click on create.

  • Go to control panel > programs and features.  If there is no HP software installed, uninstall it.  If you uninstall all HP software, restart the computer after the uninstall is complete.

Go to the HP site and download the package "HP Deskjet full feature software and drivers", which is 46.5 MB download, or package "HP Deskjet basic drivers", which is a package of 16.9 MB.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-DeskJet-1000-Printer-series---J110/4066042/model/4066376#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1

I do not know that HP includes in its package "Full Feature", but it includes the "HP Toolbox" which allows you to check and set some parameters of the printer, to do some basic without any maintenance tasks doubt and notifies you of the low ink level.  You have really no software beyond the base driver, but it is up to you.

Find the package that you have downloaded, double-click it to run it and follow the on-screen instructions.  Connect the printer to the computer when you are prompted to do so.

Once the installation is complete, open Printers and devices.  If the Deskjet printer is already selected as the default printer, right-click on it and make sure.

    Print a test page.

If everything is fine now, create another system restore point, restart the computer and then download and install DoPDF (http://www.dopdf.com/) or CutePDF Writer (which does the same and is also free) (http://cutepdf.com/).

If you need to reinstall send it to OneNote printer, we can do that too.

  • Printer installation problem

I installed an HP Photosmart C6280 all-in-One on a macbook pro with the Mountain Lion. The installation says it succeeded, but when I try to print I get a message indicating that the printer has not been installed correctly. It has an option to repair. A few seconds after I click I get a message that says Photosmart close unexpectedly. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

DO NOT use the CD.  Throw it out.  It is NOT intended for your version of Mac OS X.

We will uninstall the software by using the "scrubber":

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
    Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
Press on and press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard at the same time as you click on uninstall, it IS the Option of the scrubber, no button is labeled "washer".
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click on continue and let it finish

    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

    Restart your Mac.

    Now reset the printing system:

    -Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
-Right (control) click inside the box that lists your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
-Select the sign + to add again. Search for the printer, select it, and wait until the button 'Add' becomes available. Until it clicks.

    Hello

Peripheral Microsoft ISATAP Inter Site Automatic Tunneling Address Protocol is used to help the transition to an IPv6 infrastructure companies. T he card ISATAP encapsulates IPv6 packets using an IPv4 header. This feature allows the customer to carry IPv6 traffic over an IPv4 infrastructure. This approach allows organizations to migrate slowly to an IPv6 infrastructure without having to spend too much time and financial resources to convert the new infrastructure.

This means that the Microsoft ISATAP device driver is an update which is specifically designed to connect to the network. This driver is not a requirement for your operating system. It's an extra update for a better network functionality. If your internet connection works fine, then you can ignore this driver. Otherwise, follow the solution below to solve this problem.

Here are the steps you can try:

    1. follow the steps on this link to update the driver: update a hardware driver that is not working properly.

    2. run the troubleshooting of autopilot: hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows.

3 try to uninstall and reinstall the driver.

    To uninstall:

    1. Click Startand then click Control Panel.
    2. Click hardware and sound.
    3. Click on Device Manager.
    4. Double-click the type of device you want to uninstall.
    5. Right-click on the desired specific device, and then click Uninstall. You can also double-click on the device and then on the driver tab, click Uninstall.
    6. Click OK to complete the uninstall. (Restart your computer so that the changes take effect).

    To reinstall:

    1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.
    2. In the left pane, click check for updates. If there are any available updates, click the links to see more information about each update. Windows Update tells you if an update is important, recommended, or optional. Each type of update might include drivers.
    3. On the Select the updates you want to install page, look for updates for your hardware devices, select the check box for each driver you want to install and then click OK. There could be no available driver updates.
    4. On the Windows Update page, click install updates. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Windows Update will tell you if the updates have been installed correctly.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thank you.

  • Options to upgrade to internal hard drive on laptop computer dv2000t (installation problems)

I need to replace a failed hard drive in my laptop dv2000t of 2006.  The drive I'm replacing was already a replacement car from the original 80 GB drive came with the laptop.  The first replacement 3 years ago (2008) was a 200 GB drive, which worked well for about 3 years.  But he just crashed (apparently).  I received warnings of imminent failure in 'Smart' car a week before, and then it finally is more start.  Subsequent tests on the extract disk show it as having failed in many sectors.

I had no problem to order a spare for the first time in 2008, restore a backup image to original disk Acronis, installation, etc.  Everything went well in 2008.   So I assumed that all would be gone smoothly for yet another replacement and upgrade.

In 2008, the drive I ordered was a W.D. (Western Digital, stick with the same brand as the original) disk SATA 2.5 inch 5400 RPM (200 GB).  It's a SATA (I) (1.5 Gbit/s interface).

The first disc I ordered recently (March 2011) was a W.D 2.5 inch SATA II (3.0 Gbps interface) 500 GB 7200 RPM (from 'Black Scorpion' line of W.D.).   Got the disc image disc to it and she came to the laptop.  Unfortunately, at the start and after the screen BIOS, all I get is a black screen with a white cursor blinking fast at the top of the screen.  Apparently by car is not recognized by the computer?  Then I did some reading in some online forums and found some references on this laptop is made not with the capacity of disks more or 320 GB with 7200 RPM drives (because they're hotter than 5400 drives).  And finally, references to the SATA interface speed.  I ordered a 2nd drive, W.D "Scorpio Blue" line, this time above a 5400 RPM 320 GB drive (but still SATA II).  Same story, still does not work.  So I decided that maybe the question was the SATA speed.  So I found someone who still had a SATA plus old (1.5 Gbps) W.D. drive in stock.  It's a W.D. SATA 250 GB (no longer manufactured).  It should arrive in a few days - and I hope this one works!

I would like to get some sort of confirmation on the white flashing cursor on the black screen at startup.  Is this typicalif the system could not find a bootable hard drive?  Also, is this SATA or SATA-II issue a probable cause of my problem?   I'm sure that there is nothing wrong with the new drives themselves and images restored on them, as readers will be installed them and available when I plug them in as external drives on my other computer.

I was able to solve my hard drive installation problems.  It turns out that there is no problem with any of these new replacement discs, I ordered (thinking I had ordered some readers with the wrong specs).  It was a simple solution to the problem.  Restored readers were not start because there is no MBR (Master Boot Record) on the disks after restoring from disk images.

I use Acronis True Image Home 2011 as my (backup) disk imaging software.  And I just did not understand how to restore properly backed up images on a new hard drive.  I had done everything right except that I had not checked the box to 'restore the MBR' - both do not understand what it was or what it means.  Once I checked this box and reimagee the new drive, it worked fine.

  • HP C309g - m 3-in-1 printer Photo - problem of re - load software

I'm on Windows 8;  I used this same photo printer 3 in 1 HP C309g-m on an older system of Windows 7.  I was able to use this printer for a year and so far this week, I had no problem.  I can print documents, but for now, I am unable to open the HP Solution Center to scan documents or images.   I don't remember if I had installed something new before you have problems.

I restarted my laptop and printer, the error message reappears (unfortunately, I capture a screenshot of the error message).  I decided to uninstall/reinstall the software.  The uninstall appeared to go smoothly (I don't, however, have uninstalled the primary software first), so I put the software CD reinstall the drivers/software.   There is no option to install the software, only one option 'leave' (screen attached).

I went to the HP support and downloaded the HP Print and Scan doctor.  I also used the HP printer install wizard for Windows.  Both seemed to work without a hitch.  The same HP C309g printer installation window came to download the software and drivers.  The download went through the entire process.  When I clicked on 'Finish', a time error msg (screen attached).

On a previous Help topic, it is suggested to download CCleaner - I decided to do it, but I don't want to change my browser in Exchange by using the tool, so I cancelled the download.

Here is the screenshot of my program list that shows there is "empty" remains of the downloaded software previously.  As you can see, the only software that today is a result of reinstalling is the HP Photo Creations & support Solutions Framework.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Your very informative post, I see that the Photosmart C309g software gives you a very difficult period, do not install it and allow you to analyze.

I would suggest a few steps which I think will be very useful.

    • Since the Office Windows and R key on the keyboard
    • Type %temp%, press ENTER> last 7z Ouvrezledossier > Util> CCC
    • Run the L3 uninstall and restart the computer
    • Disable your antivirus / firewall.
    • Open the folder %temp% again, this time hit CTRL A to select all and delete the contents of this folder.
    • Disable start-up items; Windows key and R and then type msconfig. Click Start and disabled all the, and then click Services, hide all Microsoft and disable these institutions.
    • Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player: Adobe Flash Player
    • Restart the computer and try to install, HP Photosmart Premium C309 all-in-One series full feature software and driver.
