Dropdowns Menu Spry flicker/Disappeing with IE7

Hello Experts Spry,

I worked to find a solution to this problem for weeks and have search many forums on how to not fix or none this result. Of course, FireFox works fine, but IE7 has a flickering problem / endangered on the Spry drop and it seems to happen only when it is contained directly below. This leads me to believe that it is a matter of z-index CSS that IE7 does not agree with. I use Spry pre-release 1.6 and my temporary Internet files from IE 7 automatically checks for newer versions. When the cursor is in the meantime drop IE menu items seems to want to active the "hideDelay" action comes from the SpryMenuBar.js file. If you select the first item in the menu drop-down menu to wait one second and then select the next item below and wait again, you can slow down also move downward without the drop endangered. However, this will not do for navigation and quickly irritate users.

Here is a link to demonstrate the problem of flicker/disappearance in IE 7. http://www.obtain.com/WebTest/TopSideNavPage.html.

This link shows that no content under the menu bar drop-down menus work perfectly.
http://www.obtain.com/WebTest/TopSideNavPageNoContent.html.

I really need a solution and fast, I appreciate this forum can provide any assistance.

Found the answer on another forum. It seems IE must have all instances of 'li' and 'a' tags defined with display: block in CSS. Now everything works fine.

  • Another problem of horizontal menu SPRY with IE7

    I've posted this before, with no responses, but I think I narrowed down it to a problem of CSS with IE7.0 response. If you view the attached link with Firefox or Opera, the background color of menu responds correctly on the bottom of the fall. In IE7, the background color is ignored, causing the menu to be translucent and, uh, ugly. Does anyone else has had a problem with the CSS background-color in the horizontal menu css SPRY attribute does not?

    HELLLLLP! and, uh, thank you.

    I posted on the forum Spry in Adobe labs and got the answer. He resided in the z-index of the horizontal menu style. I invite you to consult the answer suggested in this forum. I tried 3 times to put a link in this response and it wrong three times. Sorry "about it.

    I want to create a 2 cells in demand for numbers, the 1st cell is a dropdown menu with items of text, when choosing an item, that it would be represented by a numeric value in the other cell. How can I do?

    You can use vlookup() like this:

    (1) crate a table like this:

    the first line is a heading row

    the first column contains the same list of items in the context menu

    the second column contains the corresponding values

    name of the table 'value '.

    In another table (where the pop-up menu), you can use the table of choice of 'Value' like this:

    create a drop-down list in cell B1

    Select cell C1 and type (or copy and paste) the formula:

    = VLOOKUP (B1, Value::A:B, 2, 0)

    short hand for this is:

    C1 = VLOOKUP (B1, Value::A:B, 2, 0)

    now change the pop-up to display the value in the change of cell C1

  • Spry menu does not work in IE7

    The page in question is http://www.mayland.edu/test/index.html .

    I'm at my wits end to solve a problem of menu drop-down submenu in IE7. I used Horizontal Spry menu creation in Dreamweaver CS3, put it in a < div > tag and use it to fill the bar in the design of the page and Center it in the window. I changed the background colors and font sizes. Page looks fine in Firefox and Safari, but when the submenu appears in IE7, menu items appear inline horizontally to each other instead of vertically one below the other. I don't know there is a setting in the CSS that I have messed up or is not configured properly to make the menu appear correctly, but I can't find the problem. Could someone take a look and give my an idea of what I could do to make this work?

    Open your spry script file and find this line:
    this.createIframeLayer (menu);

    Put 2 slashes in to to comment on him, like this:
    this.createIframeLayer (menu);

    Then go here and deploy the setting wmode to your flash animation:

  • Submenu of the menu Spry restores do not correctly on IE

    I am working on a menu left vertical spry has several submenus fasteners.  When I download the page in IE and hover over the menu items that have submenus, the submenu in the top right of the menu, any distance to the bottom of the list.  The spry menu actually works fine on firefox and chrome.  Unfortunately, a lot of people who will be viewing this page using IE, and I need to make it work properly on all applications.  I would paste the code, but am really not able to do.  Any ideas why it wouldn't make properly on IE?

    Spry is dead.  Nobody uses it more.  Adobe abandons Spry in 2012 because they have outlived their usefulness.  They're not receptive & don't work THE right on modern or touchscreens (iPads, iPhones, Androids, etc...).  Take this opportunity to replace your current menu with something better.

  • I can ONLY connect to the internet with IE7 and Outlook Express

    I have Win XP SP3, home wired network, Netgear router, cable internet, Lenovo desktop.
    I can run IE 7 and Outlook Express and connect to the internet very well with these.  However, I can not connect using FireFox.  Windows Update returns an error and does NOT connect to scan my computer and display the necessary updates.  I just installed tax program this year HR CD block and it is unable to connect to internet to download the updates.  I used IE7 to go to the web site of the tax program to download the update manually, but it doesn't connect either.  I also can't complete installation OF Adobe (Digital Editions) program because it must connect to the internet in order to make a registration.

    I have disabled the Windows Firewall, do not have a configured proxy.  So, I can browse the internet with IE7 and get email with Outlook express.  I went on the site from Google Chrome to try to download it and install it that (using IE7 of course), but after I press the "Download" button, IE7 says that it cannot connect to perform the download.

    I scanned this forum and not seen similar symptoms that would allow me to reach a solution.  Everyone knows about this issue and how to resolve?

    P.S. I have two other laptops Win XP which CAN completely connect to internet with IE and Firefox via the same router and the modem cable.

    I tried trojan remover and none of the things in the menu utils found any problems.

    But it turns out that my problem was a hidden/partial copy of Symantec Client Firewall that I thought was deleted.  Over the months some programs had been updated and Symantec didn't know about them, so it was blocking their access: FROM Adobe, HR Block, IE8, Firefox, etc.  Given that I have not seen it listed in the start menu and it was not listed in Add/Remove Programs, I didn't have to try to remove it.  And it was not poping up to tell me of a new program attempts to access the Internet.

    I used the Symantec tool to remove all THE stuff of Symantec and it cleared up my connection problems.  I then reinstalled Symantec Client Security (antivirus and firewall) and turned off the Windows Firewall.

  • Menu Spry missing first submenus, but showing only the last.

    Hello, I'm doing a site for a school project and I have a spry menu code that looks good, but when it is turned on, when you move the menu, submenus are empty except for the last.

    Here's what it looks like on a mode live view:

    Above war-torn project are three submenus. They have the text, but will not appear. My other menus do the same thing. For personal reasons, I will not not to publish the entire site because of his real name, address, contact, etc.

    I guess you have your SpryAssets responsible, including the javascript file concerning it. Also, check the bottom of your swap file for the javascript code specific to this menu bar. Spry menus come with three components, the call to the head of the document for the javascript files and css, the structure itself in the body of the document and javascript code at the bottom of the body (before the tag).

    Javascript is not published (and not for the faint of heart); the css controls the menu bar similar to and can be edited with care, and this at the bottom of the page (for example), defining the new variable in the menu bar:

  • Menu Spry, horizontal submenu, must fall down in front of flash player in Internet Explorer

    I am building a Web site that contains a horizontal menu spry with submenus on some of the tabs. On one page of the Web site, there is a flash drive in the upper part and for some reason any IE puts the drop-down list behind the flash player. I guess I need to change the CSS files for Spry menu, but I don't know where to start? How can I tell IE to display all of the Spry elements on top?  Any ideas? Just a side note... all other browsers display the menu correctly.

    I use Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac.

    Thank you

    I'm curious! Please take a look here http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14201.html

    GRAMPS

  • Menu Spry help positioning

    I literally spent the last three days (eight to ten hours each day) trying to figure out how to customize a menu spry for CS4. I looked at countless tutorials (more of which were written for CS3), the I combed through articles and discussions. I read the stuff on the spry site. I have been more my book Dreamweaver The Missing Manual a dozen times. Because navigation is one of the most basic features of Web design, you would think that it is a simple method of bullet proof. It is certainly easy enough to add menu items. After that, it's a nightmare.

    As soon as I would get one thing working properly, I noticed in a browser and see that while I could have corrected a problem of submenu now I've screwed up to the appearance of the menu bar main or vice versa. I would get so screwed things that I would have to trash everything and start again. I had to do at least four times. Once I trashed the widget, deleted all spry assets and inserted a new menu. I did a preview in a browser of the menu new ordinary and and all of the foires parameters of employment previous spry was now the new menu. WTF? How can this be? I have saved, closed and restarted and it was back to normal. But that does give me a lot of confidence in what I see in mode live view.

    Okay, so now it's three days later and during my attempt in fifth and in fact, I had all this work as it is supposed to. All I want to do now is to position the menu bar. Right now it is floated to the left against a menu div with a background. The menu div is 40 px high. The spry menu bar is also sitting at the top of the div and looks terrible. I don't want it centered in the div tag and I don't want it rinse top left sitting. What I want to do is move it to the right to match any other content on the page and Center the menu bar vertical in the div. I tried adding padding to the div and mess up the appearance of divs. I tried to add margins, I tried to add a padding to the high level ul.menubarhorizontal (he didn't really like that). Bottom line is that I'm afraid to touch anything for fear that all this will fall apart and I'll have to start over. The page I'm working on is going to be a model for an entire site. So I can't do anything else until I fix this. Can anyone help? Please?

    Without looking too closely, this is done for me:
    {#menu}
    background-image: url("..) ("/ Images/Layout/nav_bg.jpg");
    background-position: left, top;
    background-repeat: repeat-x;
    height: 40px;
    padding-left: 104px;
    Width: 856px;

    }
    You can adjust the padding on the left and width accordingly.

  • Dropdown Menu problem Dynamics

    Hi all

    Hope someone can help me with this little problem. I am filling a form of dynamic dropdown menu using data from my database. Store values in a single column of my database... However, there are duplicated in some records and no name in other names and I want that my drop-down menu to display only one option at a time... then...

    Rather than view this:

    option01
    option01
    option02
    option03
    option03

    I just like it to appear:
    option01
    option02
    option03

    My SQL to query the database is:

    SELECT *.
    OF databasetable
    WHERE databasefield IS NOT NULL
    ORDER BY databasefield ASC

    But what I need is something like:
    SELECT *.
    OF databasetable
    WHERE databasefield IS NOT NULL and does not multiple records with the same value
    ORDER BY databasefield ASC

    Problem is that I don't know the code to achieve and does not multiple records with the same value

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you very much... I've knew the SEPARATE command but could not work out where in the code is to be placed. As always a simple answer when you know how, but it takes someone competent and friendly enough to help others.

    Dave, your help is much appreciated.

  • menu Spry displays behind the video content

    Hi guys, I built a horizontal menu spry just above a section that contains a video as the first element. The menu is just above this area, and when I test on Firefox and Safari, the menu goes behind the video. IE 7 works correctly display the menu of the video object. I've seen other posts with problems in front where IE does not display the menu on the rest of the content. Any suggestions with the video problem?

    That's ok. And by the way, there is no index-z involved in this. It's that
    Flash is constantly redrawn on the page, so the content assets.
