Dual Vostro 200 boot is a different amount of system memory

I have an old slimline Vostro 200 desktop with the motherboard G33m02 and configured with 3 sticks of 1 GB and a 512 MB memory card.  The machine is dual-boot Win 7 and XP 32 bit (only used offline).  When I boot on Win 7, the computer - screen properties poster 3.50 GB of system memory, but if I start XP he 3.24 GB?  I thought XP 32 bit should be able to see the 4 GB?  The... what?

There is no specific amount, because the amount of memory can vary.

  • Windows xp professional sp3 general system control panel displays the wrong amount of system memory

Have a Dell Optiplex GX280 running Windows XP Pro SP3 with 3.5 GB of memory. BIOS confirms the good memory installed, but the control panel > system > general tab displays only 2.99 GB of memory.  Is there a fix for this issue or Windows using only the first 3 GB of memory?

If you have Windows XP with service pack 3 - it's a 32-bit operating system.  The most he could use is 4 GB and some of which will be used for overhead costs.  The most I've seen Windows XP with SP3 report was 3.85 GB of memory - although it is more common to see a 3.25 and 3.5 GB.

Memory shared (with a video device) can also take off the total.  It's usually anywhere from 64 MB to 1 GB if the video device uses the system memory compared to (or in coordination with) committed memory.

With Windows XP, however, have probably seldom got you much above 1.5 GB of memory space used without some graphics intense or video edition GOLD of virtual machines.  ;-)

Essentially - there is unlikely to be anything to fix.  If you want to use/manage better memory, you need a 64-bit operating system (I'm not implying Windows XP 64-bit) and possibly a new video device.

  • The amount of system memory is 32-bit Vista Handel?

I'm running a video editing software "PowerDirector 7". Now, I use 4 GB of system memory and want to extend to the 8 GB without moving to a 64 bit OS... I can tolerate some slowdown since the 64 bit OS is more effective, but I am told by some vendors that 8gig on a Windows Vista system will not work. My machine has a base score of 5.4 because of the memory of the graphics card, but a 5.9 on access to system memory. Please advise...

  • VOSTRO 200 Windows 10 drivers

I'm a previewer for Windows 10.  I have Windows 7 running on my VOSTRO 200 in 32-bit mode.  I could not load the preview builds or the final version of Windows 10.  Microsoft says that I need Windows 10 drivers but I have to get it from Dell.  Anyone know if there are special drivers for VOSTRO 200 / 10 Windows?

Note that I use 10 Windows on a laptop with a very similar setup successfully... 4 GB memory, processor Core 2 Duo Intel, Genuine Intel® CPU 2140 @ 1.60 GHz × 2, 1 TB drive, Intel G33 graphics card, etc...

    George

    Bev,

I can never find the 'yes', but YES, it was useful.  I'm in dual boot Ubuntu 15.04 64-bit with Windows 7 32 bit on the (otherwise unmodified) VOSTRO 200 with two hard drives.  The start is on disk 1 with Ubuntu and Windows on drive 2.  This could be a problem because the error is 800703ED (undocumented by SM, but it is everywhere on the web as a problem), but I do not.  I disconnected drive 1 and worked with the system as Windows only and a single.  Same song, second verse... No joy!  Windows 7 works well but Windows 10 won't charge or upgrade.

I love playing with older devices and software.  The laptop that I am trying is same vintage as the VOSTRO but will not run 64-bit, Linux (Ubuntu or something else).

If in your home and you find something useful, please send me a note.

I played with Windows 7 a reconstruction the VOSTRO or the computer laptop but MS wrote that they "don't will authenticate not' it if I do: catch-22!

  • Vostro 200 CPU Upgrade

Does anyone have a list of CPU for the Vostro 200 compatibility?  I've fallen back on the curve of computer knowledge and find so many processors available. Right now there an E2140 and I'm interested in something like the E6300 - a little faster and not too expensive.  I see a Newegg for $78 with free shipping.  TIA

    RichCal

First, you must determine, the version of motherboard your Vostro 200 has and your system comes with a 300w, or power supply 350w?

As already said that the Vostro 200 was built with the two different motherboards, a G33M02 or a G33M03.

If your Vostro 200 has been purchased with a Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual-Core or Celeron and a 300w power supply, this system has generally a card mother FoxConn G33M02, who can't stand that the Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual-Core and Celeron processors.

If you have a Core 2 Quad processor and a 350w power supply, you have the FoxConn DG33M03 motherboard.

This motherboard can be used for both Quad 4 and Core 2 Duo processors.

  • Vostro 200 desktop computer does not start

Hi all, our company has an old desk, Vostro 200, which works very well for a few years.  A day after the cleaning, the machine does not start with the amber light.  Fans stop, even the power supply fan stops.

    I tried:

    1. using a different power supply, it's the same thing.

    2. using another CPU, it's the same thing.

After I unplug power 4 pin for the processor, fans start working and it seems normal but show nothing.

I also tried out the case from the jury and put it back, in order to avoid any shortened with the case.  It does not work.

What is the failure of the motherboard? I had a copper shortcut or circuit on the map?

Although it is an old computer, but we do not produce a bin with other parts in good condition.

    Thank you.

One last thing is the license Windows XP OEM's sucks it as well as the motherboard has failed because the license is listed in the BIOS?  Thank you.

    Thanks Bev

    1. After spending the Green and black cables, the situation is the same: the fans stop with power of CPU 4 pin; fans of work without power CPU 4 pin.

    2. after disconnecting devices PCI/video /, the situation is the same, still no beep.

    3. after remove the memory, the situation is the same.

After checking the CPU socket, I put that there could be some not vertical pegs.  Is it possible that I folded a few pins so that it didn't?

    Thank you

    CECTT

Yes, it is possible, the processor installed correctly, for more information, go to pages 152 to 155 of the owner's manual, if the LGA 775 is damaged, this may require a motherboard replacement.

    https://www.Amazon.com/Dell-motherboard-Inspiron-systems-compatible/DP/B003CO0WQS

The Vostro 200 was built with two different systemboards.

Motherboards should have engraved on it model number.

If she says G33M02, then it only supports Core 2 Duo processors.

If it says G33M03 then it supports Core 2 Duo and Core 2 quad cores processors.

What are the OEM sSpec numbers and processor that was installed as a replacement?

    http://www.Intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/000005554.html

Have you tried to reinstall the original OEM processor?

In addition, the procedure is usually to Flash the BIOS to the latest version, before the upgrade of the Vostro 200 processor.

  • IDE hard drive not recognized in bios Vostro 200

My friend gave me his Vostro 200 when she bought a new computer. I took the 130 GB drive HARD from my old computer and installed with a mini vertical bridge Sabrent SBT-SCIDE and a Molex to SATA power adapter. When I booted the computer and check the Bios, it does not appear. I checked the connections, and they agree, then I hung up in the old computer to ensure that it still worked. No problems in the old computer and no errors when I ran the disk check. Re-installed in the Vostro, but still not recognized.

Did I miss something as controllers or orders at the entrance?

For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated... ed

Most of the time these IDE SATA bridges do not work - you may need to try several of them until you find one that does - assuming one will indeed work.  The only reliable method to fix an old IDE drive to a new SATA system is to mount the drive in an external USB box.

  • Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower - for SSD Samsung 850 Evo BIOS settings

Hi - I am looking to replace the HARD drive in my Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower with a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.  I am running the BIOS 1.0.16 and do not see the option AHCI, RAID or IDE only.  Should what BIOS settings I use to optimize the performance of an SSD benefits?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I could get my SSD working under RAID (10 Windows) with the following steps (which some may not be necessary).

    1. MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable 9 CD to clone a copy of the existing for the Samsung SSD HDD (Samsung data migration tool did not acknowledge the Samsung SSD on Windows 10, even though Device Manager it identified as such).  It took nearly 36 hours to clone froma 160 GB 250 GB HDD to the SSD.
    2. Replace HDD with SSD and it started / worked as an IDE drive.  TRIM has been activated and works.
    3. Apply the hotfix to the register noted in the first post of this thread (it may or may not be necessary):
      1. http://forums.HEXUS.NET/motherboards/112584-how-enable-AHCI-RAID-mode-without-reinstalling-Windows-P35-ICH9-ICH9R.html
    4. Downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.5.0.1017 A00 (which is appropriate for the Vostro 200 Slim Tower) from the Dell Web site and run the extracted exe file on the disk.
    5. Opens the folder where the drivers have been extracted and made a right click > install iaahci.inf and iastor.inf files.
    6. Restarted the PC, went into the BIOS and changed the IDE in RAID mode.
    7. When the system is booted, I received the message "Inaccessible Boot Device", so I let the system automatically restarts, go through the automatic recovery/repair options, then follow the guests to launch the advanced Windows options recovery to start in safe mode.
    8. Once in safe mode, I opened the Device Manager, which now showed the following new features:
      1. Disc players

        1. SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 500G
      2. Storage controllers
        1. Intel(r) ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller
        2. Microsoft storage controller
    9. The system is then able to start and be used normally.
    10. There are still problems with the Samsung Wizard software, but it seems that it is a matter of Samsung.

Hope this is useful to someone.

    Hi Doomstriker1,

Thanks for writing on the Dell Community Forum.

  • Vostro 200 and Installation of XP problem

Hi, I bought a Vostro 200 with Vista mini recently.  After I got it, I tried to install some software I have and faced many problems.  So now I'm trying to reformat the hard drive and install XP on it.  I have an old XP SP2 CD of previous computer purchase.  I booted from the CD and it looks like it to load things, and then the blue screen of death that presented themselves.  The stop error is 0x0000007B.

My question is how to install XP on Vostro 200?  I have XP SP2, XP SP3 do I need? or a few other drivers?  I have no disk on this machine so if other drivers are required for installation, how to do? F6/floppy would not be an option for me.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Jason

    Sounds like the SATA driver.

Check in your BIOS for the SATA operation mode.   If it is in AHCI mode, change the ATA, then XP should be able to recognize the drive.

However, I must warn you: If you are using XP CD was originally an OEM version that is installed on another computer, it is a violation of the license agreement to install it on another system.   An OEM license is valid only for the computer, it has been installed on and cannot be transferred. only one copy retail can do.  The only exception is if you have purchased the Vostro with Vista Business or Ultimate, in which case you have right to demotion to use your license Vista with XP.

  • HIS HD 4670 Itceq in Mini-Tower Vostro 200?

    Hello

I just bought a Vostro 200 Mini Tower System. It is not the slim version. Should be delivered soon. In any case, I wanted to upgrade the video card. The new HD4670 seems to be a perfect choice for the few non-hardcore games. The supply must be sufficient, there is no need for an additional power connector and the card seems to be low. However, the only 4670 card that is currently available is a model of SOUND that has a cooler Itceq attached. The thing is that, while the card is very short, it is a double-slot cooler design and requires little additional space. Could you get it someone please let me know if there is enough space below the graphics card to a dual-slot video card slot?

Here is a picture of the card itself:

    http://www.hisdigital.com/NewImages/products/HD4670_IceQ_PCIe_500.jpg

If anyone has any pictures of interiors of Vostro 200, it would be much appreciated.
