Duplicate IP address

I got a pop up saying that someone as the same IP as me on this network that im use, does that mean someone as hacked my account?

Probably not. This means that another device on the network has the same IP address as your computer. Since you have said nothing on your network, if the IP addresses are static or dynamic or computers/devices that are on your network, that's all I can say. If you would like more information, please provide the missing details. Include information on the topology of your network. that is, switches, router, modem, cable/DSL, home/work network group, field, etc. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

    I have seen several threads about this, but they are all either point to one) all resources used or b) firewall issues, and since I have neither, I wanted to see if anyone knows the answer...

    I have 6 servers identical all running the same exact version of ESX Server 3i 3.5.0 build-153875 and 5 of them work perfectly, but the 6th gives the same error as the original poster. It obviously isn't a problem of firewall from the 5 / 6 work very well and I connect to all (and about 15 other servers vmware ESX Server) of my workstation. The server with the question has no installed VMs (don't stay connected long enough to build a) and he passesd all hardware diagnostics I run on it. It has an IP address static, put in place like all other servers and ESX I reinstalled several times.

    Looking at the logs, I see this message: virtual machine on the host has been detected with a duplicate IP address

    How is this possible, is that there is still no VMs on that? Anyone know how to fix this?

    How is this possible, is that there is still no VMs on that? Anyone know how to fix this?

    Not sure why she complains VM, as you didn't tell any virtual machine set up, but define you as static.  Are you sure that you do not use an IP address already in use?

    Disable the ESX host, can you ping the IP?  Something is using this IP address somewhere, so the message can be vague, but something is causing an IP address conflict.

  • Using the P2V "duplicate IP addresses.

    Hi all

    I managed to convert the physical server which is a Windows 2003 Server box running on a Compaq DL360 machine to a virtual machine using the Vcentre Converter standalone. Now my question is...

    1. the physiqueet server is on a domain should I remove the domain and add it to the Working Group, then disable the physical NETWORK card? So I can use the same IP address of the physical server.

    2. once I have removed the physical server in the domain and add the same IP on the new virtual server that I need to make changes to the DNS? is DNS be confused when a physical server is converted to a virtual server with the same host name?

    I tried to pass the ip address after the closure of the old physical server however. The virtual server has complained that the ip address has been used by a hardware address of the physical server and then I got a message "address ip duplicate"

    Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you very much

    KeV

    You can also do the P2V without removing the domain host, if you have a local account on it.

    After P2V shut down the old server, log in to the virtual clone with your local account (domain account will not work because of the missing network config), set up the old network with IP address, reboot and everything is fine.

    Domain ObjectID etc. will remain the same, the only thing that changes is the MAC, but it is not important for the domain.

    Hello

    Step 1: The problem is probably in your router.  Reboot the router by unplugging the power cord for a few seconds and then plug it again.

  • MAC address auto PowerCLI / duplicate MAC

    We have a duplicate MAC address problem when we move to a server a server vCenter to another. Our method to move the server is to disconnect the server from the vCenter server and then attach it to the other server vCenter. For some reason, the MAC address reviews does not change when it is attached. I would assume vCenter regenerate an unique MAC address based on the unique ID of vCenter but apparently not. Then the old vCenter seems to affect the old MAC address again on the next guest created therefore create duplicate address.

    We try to automate the process of moving to a guest from vCenter for vCenter via PowerCLI. One of the hotfixes in the duplicate MAC addresses is to set it to manual and back to auto ( http://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere4/doc/vsp_esxi41_vc41_rel_notes.html )the problem comes when we want to set the MAC address of a MAC auto return manual. The setting of the MAC address manually is no problem, but we can not seem to figure out how to set the MAC address of return via PowerCLI. Anyone know of a solution?

    Thanks in advance for any help provided.

  • Access point WAP54G whose MAC addresses are the same

    I have 3-point WAP54G access that are connected together using wireless bridge settings found under the "AP Mode" in the menu.

    I would add a fourth unit, but as I am doing so I discovered that the 4th unit network MAC address is the same as that of the three already existing in my lan bridge WAP54Gs.   How can this be?  All units, aren't supposed to have unique MAC address of the factory.  I have triple checked to make sure that I am indeed two different units WAP54G.  Yes there is indeed to disting WAP54G units in my possession to what appears to be duplicate MAC addresses.  Then two units with double MAC addresees exsist on the same bridge LAN?  If this is not the case, is it possible to change one of the units, itg is not possible to return a device?  Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

  • "Another computer on the network has the same IP address as this computer. Contact you network administrator for help resolving this issue. More details are available in the Windows system event log"

    Please, anyone can help as I don't know what to do? I am running Vista to the Windows Welcome page
    I am the administrator and I have no other computers attached to my laptop?
    I use the same USB port to connect to internet, but recently, I had to try another USB port I get the above error message.
    I have no idea how to do to correct the situation and would appreciate guidance step by step.
    Thank you.

    Hi RDCICON,

    1. which device you are connected to the USB port?

    2. you still get the same message when you connect the usb device or use the device on another computer?

    Method 1:

    You can try to run the tool built into Vista Network Diagnostics. To do this, click Start, go to network and select network share.

    On the left side of the window select the diagnosis and repair.
    It should help to find which device is listed with the duplicate IP address.

    Method 2: Release and renew the IP address by following these steps.

    a. Click Start. Click Run, type cmd, press ENTER.

    b. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER

    ipconfig/release

    ipconfig / renew

    Method 3:

    Check and confirm the DHCP client service is started and set to automatic.

    If the DHCP client service is not running, then set it to autostart. Steps to set the auto service:

    a. click the Start button

    b. type services.msc in the search box.

    c. search for DHCP client and set it to automatic and make sure that it is started.

    Method 4:

    Reset the router and see if the problem persists.

    You can refer to the 3mentioned of general troubleshooting method in the following article to reset the router.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/956196#Gm3

    You can also see the producers of the router manual or contact support for additional assistance.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • VM mac address

    I migrated about 40 virtual machines from a virtual centre to the new virtual centre along the esxi host.

    now, I'm having a problem of duplicate MAC address. a few times my old vcenter takes a MAC address of a new vcenter.

    How this can happen and how to stop it.

    Another way rather than change the MAC address of the virtual machines attached with my new virtual centre.

    Thank you

    Hello

    When using multiple vCenter make servers you define unique ID on each vCenter. In this way, they don't use the same MAC address range.

    This will help only for VMS newly created however. I'm afraid you must change the Mac of your existing virtual machines or delete their network cards and create new ones.

  • Duplicate e-mail notifications sent to suppliers

    Hi Oracle Community-

    Some of our suppliers are complaining that they receive notifications by e-mail in doubles.  We noticed that one of the duplicate email addresses has been added with the '. AMERICAN' language according to article Oracle suffix, 'suffix of language (i.e. "."). AMERICAN") is added to the e-mail address of the provider in the notice of purchase order Email (Doc ID 427969.1()'. '.

    Although Oracle recommend a patch to fix this problem, I'm reluctant because we use iSupplier for notifications and the position of the buyer for create/update all purchase orders.  The article States, "this 12.1.x solution will change the field in the email to the supplier of a combination of vendor and site name of the provider instead of concatenated with the language code e-mail address."  This change is applicable to the purchase orders created or updated using the purchase orders form and not to the purchase orders created or updated using the center of the buyer." "

    In addition, the article does not mention that these "." AMERICAN' suffixed emails are duplicate notifications.  In my case, they are.

    Please let me know that someone has any suggestions, or if all goes well, a solution to my problem.

    Thank you, Donna

    As you already use iSupplier, I would recommend updating field medium of Communication with the NULL value instead of send and see how it goes.

  • display of the results with a mac duplicate script

    I'm still pretty new to powershell scripts and have learned quite a bit from reading the code, others have implemented here on the forum and other items. Given that, I still have a lot to learn and I'm having a really frustrating issue with a small script, asked me to set up.

    The purpose of the script is to try to locate the duplicate MAC addresses separately for VM, host physical NIC, and VMKernal interfaces. First, it brings together all the MAC addresses for each and stores individually. It also combines each of them in a table, so that in this way it may list the duplicates they each individually, as well as duplicates between them as well. When I run the ps1 file into powercli, I get the partial results. The VMKernel box lists the mac address, but not the name of host or portgroup related. The combined results end up completely empty. If I paste the exact content of the ps1 file into powercli directly, it goes through correctly and displays all the required information that is not there when I run the script file, with the exception of the vmkernal host and name new portgroup. For some reason we won't not display information at all. I noticed that the amount of extra empty lines displayed in the combo box are as many lines of results that come through when I just paste the script in. So it's like we know it is data, but just can not visually display for some reason any and I honestly don't know enough to understand why. I guess its some sort of in the form of question, and I hope someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

    Is attached a copy of the script, and copy/paste between the powercli window runs the script and also simply paste the script into the window. Of course, my poor coding style makes it semi difficult to read when I just paste the contents of the script in powercli.

    Note: according to the vmworld session I attended with LucD as one of the hosts, I apoligize for killing puppies with my continued use of the write-host I have not had time to study alternatives and not me used them as well.

    I really appreciate any help that anyone can provide me with

    Great idea for a script.

    I think that your problem is with this line

    $combineddup = $combinedreport | Object-group Mac | where {$_.} {Group - gt 1}

    who should I be

    $combineddup = $combinedreport | Object-group Mac | where {$_.} {Group.Count - gt 1}

    I have attached a revised version of the script with a few other changes I would like to suggest. Take a look.

    Do not hesitate to ask if some of my proposed amendments are unclear.

    On puppies, you're excused for the first 10 scripts that you post in this community

  • Find Mac address duplicated on VC

    Hello:

    I wonder how I can check for Mac address duplicated on the virtual machines under VC.

    Basically, I want to run the script that will tell me if there are any duplicate Mac addresses exist.

    I know how to find mac on VM (I use $vmMAC = $vm |) Get-NetworkAdapter | Select MacAddress), but are struggling to compare with a different Mac address without loop a whole script.

    Thank you.

    No, $macTab is defined as a table of hash on the first line.

    It could be that the MAC address is not available on some guests.

    Try the next version, I added a Where-Object to eliminate expectations of customers.

    $macTab = @{}

    foreach($vm in Get-VM){
        Get-NetworkAdapter -VM $vm | where {$_.MacAddress} | %{
            if($macTab.ContainsKey($_.MacAddress)){
                Write-Host "Duplicate MAC address" $_.MacAddress "in" $vm.Name "and" $macTab[$_.MacAddress]
            }
            else{
                $macTab[$_.MacAddress] = $vm.Name
            }
        }
    }
