duplicate media

Given that I was unable to contact Kevin at adobe via Facebook, this topic and it has been marked SOLVED elsewhere, I want to open it and get this problem solved once and for all time for the mental health of my entire post production team.

Despite trying all how, including audit XMP IDs on a new project of costs, we have been unable to move files in both feeling between editors working remotely without experiencing the files related to the same media. Of course, delete the duplicate in the project Panel, out of sequence a calendar. I've been in editorial for more than 10 years, and it wasn't a problem with AVID media, or media in Final Cut Pro. I am always amazed that this isn't a feature that is working to create. It's literally the only feature I wanted in first since we began using it on this animated film.

Someone else? I tried to make a feature request for this. Has anyone else had luck with this?

This tutorial works as if you are not to share media with another person.

Hi Michael,

When import us a sequence using the media browser, we have a list of criteria we use to determine if a file has to be duplicated on importation.

It is difficult to know exactly what criteria are inconsistent with your project, but I suspect it might be linked to the fact that the paths are different after having moved the source files.    Another possibility could be potentially linked to extracts with XMP inserted at different stages (not 100% sure on that)

I would like to get your comments on a possible circumvention and would like to hear if it would help your workflow.

After receiving a draft of an external editor / China, etc. can you transfer just this PROJECT FILE on your local computer?

The next step would be to open project and use the repeat dialog box to connect to the local press on your computer.

I recommend starting by reassociation of a single sequence (or a couple), then use them in the next step.

Save and close the project.

Then, open your main project and use the media browser to import sequences of the "external" project

This helps to reduce duplicates?

    Hello

When you import media from the photos app, I want the media to stay where he is--in the photo app library and not be duplicated in the library of FCPX. My photo library is stored locally, not in iCloud ("Download the originals of this Mac" option is selected). In the General preferences to import FCPX I management option selected files "let up". When you import media files finder, FCPX leaves the files in place as you wish. However when you import media (photo files and video) of Photos app, support is duplicated and copied in the library FCPX.

  • I have to remove the duplicate files, but having problems by selecting more than one file in the player at the time.

I have to remove the duplicate files, but having problems by selecting more than one file in the player at the time. How can I select multiple files at the same time so I can just delete them. I used to be able to do this in previous versions of Media Player, but this function seems now blocked or unavailable. The problem is this: through previous use of media player, it plays all my multimedia files several times whenever a device support has been added. He would try to save the files on my main drive, but since there is not enough room this would save the files somewhere else. This happened several times, I suppose, because when I upgraded my computer and a media scan was conducted he found duplicates of all my media various times of at least 6-8. I've consolidated since my plates on 3-disc multi to, but have now records duplicated hundreds and thousands of duplicate media files. Previous versions of Media Player would allow me to select all files and then delete them both of the reader, but also from my hard drive. So now I'm stuck with more than 300 GB of duplicate media I have to search line by line through all my hard drives to find each duplicate both, unless I can get media player to do what it can. Any help in this area would be appreciated.

    Hello

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. is Windows media player files in double creation during playback of music files?

To delete duplicate entries, click on another feature tab in the drive (for example the current playback), and then click library.

If this does not remove duplicates from your library, you can use the Add to library dialog box to search computer to analyze a file on your computer the duplicate entries not valid-pointing. The player will remove invalid entries in your library that point to files that no longer exist in the folder.

Complete the steps above for files that are stored in the hard disks.

Method 1: Use the add to Library dialog box search for computers

    (a) start Windows Media Player.

    (b) press F3 on your keyboard to open Add to the library of the find computers dialog box.

    (c) click the Browse button to locate the folder on your computer so that your library contains invalid entries. Specify the location of the folder in the box look in.

If you are not sure what duplicate in your library entry is not valid, you can add a path column to display in your library. Specify the folder on your computer that corresponds to the path not valid file displayed in your library.

    (d) click on the Search button.

The player will search for digital media files and playlists in the folder that you specify and remove invalid entries in your library that point to files that no longer exist in the folder. If not valid in double entries point to other folders on your computer, repeat this procedure, specify a different folder every time.

If only a small number of duplicate entries exist, you can delete those invalid manually by right-clicking on the invalid entry, and then clicking Delete .

For large double-number of entries in your library (or if all your library is duplicated), it might be better to create a new library and delete the files.

    Method 2:

After you remove the duplicate entries, run the troubleshooting of Windows Media Library settings to solve this problem.

  • A project of PP gave XMP?

I found this thread, but it wasn't much help:

Re: Storage of the data in the first draft

    1. that might work,
    2. This is a scary experience.

Why not store these data, private of your Panel, associated with this project?

Save a list of matches in a .txt file somewhere (the prefs dir is available via the API seems like a likely place); something like:

    OSFolder/Users/username/work_projects/ProjectXYZ_ingest = /Users/username/Documents/Adobe/projectname.prproj:ProjectXYZ_ingest

Your group could sniff the current path of the project, check this file .txt for matches, and then synchronize. Get 'project context' of IBC, of projectItem.treePath, to avoid problems with name bin fooled.

Potentially of interest: there is a pref "hidden" tucked in "hamburger palette" browser media (three horizontal bars next to the name of "Media Browser"): "allow duplicate media during import project. Turn off this, to ensure that users always get a copy of the referenced images.

In a statement to be released, you should be able to add a property (of value) for the schema of the project metadata, but I would start with the above proposal.

  • Verification of a file to see if it is part of a LR catalog?

I am condensing multiple disks media and seem to have a lot of duplicates. After you import a folder, LR indicates that the pictures have already been imported.

How can I determine if this particular file has already been imported OR if this folder contains duplicates, media that has already been imported? I would just delete the folder if it contains duplicates, if I want to make sure that this folder is not contain actual photos in the LR catalog. Is there a simple way to check this?

    Thank you.

Probably the best way to identify duplicates and if the file has already been imported, is trying to import pictures in the folder. Lightroom will tell you if the pictures were previously imported. If this happens, you go in the Lightroom folder Panel in the library module to determine whether or not the file has been imported. If the folder exists and the photos in the folder, and then you try to import time of the file a 2nd. If the folder does not exist, then you try to import duplicates.

  • How do I recompress sequences of a new project?

As a former FCP 7 user, we used Media Manager as a staple of our workflow. Turn in STROKE-Intra100 or DSLR.

When we return, I ingerer ingest sequences of images, try it in sort of separate bins, collecting images and create sequences to separate sequences for our editor for chopping. Then I selects the sequence you wish to export, since I cut out all the bad shots and shots of waste, select Media Manager and then select the option of recompression. I select offline Photo JPEG HD and create the new project, select destination and save.

FCP7 then crosses the sequences, inside media, compresses it to the resolution in offline mode and create a new project for editing offline with the media in the sequences, not the shots of rubbish.

After editing, I recover the FCP project file, open it and reconnect to the high resolution for a finished television show.

How do I do that in first CC? I see the encoder will compress images and project manager will move the project. Is there an option where it will do both? Duplicate media, create a new project and compress all the images in a format of my choice?

Drag your rushes in Adobe Media Encoder and batch encode to your desired codec.

You can see that prelude interfering and outputs to different codecs, but I have not used.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit with Windows Media Center and I have a 2 TB external drive, I keep all my multimedia (music/movies) and I just realized that my entire music library has been duplicated several times that I now have 4-5 copies of each music file in my library on my external hard drive. You can also see duplicates in Windows Media Player library?

Because Media Center uses the same library as WMP, I suggest that you try to reset the media library of WMP. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is started, double-click on the service and click on stop.
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, delete the folder Media Player. If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the duplicates have been fixed.
