Duplicate target for RAC database

Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition
Red Hat Linux

Hello

I'm a RAC database cloning using the command duplicate target database. First of all, we need create an auxiliary Instance using the source RAC database init file.

I see the following in the init file,

Mdb1.undo_tablespace = "UNDOTBS1.
MDB2.undo_tablespace = "UNDOTBS2".

What should I enter in the file init auxiliary instance for these Undo tablespace? I'll put CLUSTER_DATABASE false since the duplicate database is a single instance one. Only the Source database is RAC.

I'm cloning only SYSTEM, SYSAUX tablespace user and tablespaces Cancel two to 14 days sometime back. I'm ignoring all other storage spaces.

You only need a cancellation single tablespace... you can also create one afterwards if you want.

  • Another issue duplicate RMAN - RAC database to single instance

    Hello

    I have a problem with RMAN duplicate procedure and hoped that someone can help you.

    I would like to create a duplicate of our data base RAC production on a separate and autonomous, database on another site server. This duplicate will be used to execute queries to another business unit that I don't want to have access to our database of intensive production.

    My procedure goes like this:

    1. create a (not ASM) disk based backup data files and recovery logs archived:

    'run {} '.
    allocate channel d1 type disk;
    backup format ' / u02/stage/df_t%t_s%s_p%p' database more entered archivelog delete;
    output channel d1;
    }"

    2 tar and scp those files to the same location on the standalone database server.

    3. in the meantime, work that's happened on the basis of data production and other archived redo logs have been generated. I don't really care about these papers for the purposes of the duplicate however, I just want to replicate to the point of the last backup. I have to do this, run the following SQL to determine the sequence number should I be duplicating up to:

    "Select max(sequence#) thread # v $ archived_log, whereas the deleted = 'YES' group by thread #;"

    4 duplicate the production to the stand-alone database database (SQL Net work orders).

    'run {} '.
    until the sequence (the value returned by the SQL statement above);
    duplicate target database xxx;
    }"

    However, my problem because I don't know how to handle the fact that he has two sons. I understand that each thread relates to one of the CARS, I don't know which one to specify the copy. We have a service of data that the client application connects through, and that the service runs on any of the bodies. I should just care about newspapers in the instance where the service is running?

    AM I even approach that this is the right way?

    I look forward to any help that people may be able to offer.

    Kind regards

    Phil

    You must use the VALUE until and specify the sequence with the next lowest change, or RMAN will search for the next log in this thread.

    for example, if you specify until the thread in the sequence 9750 1; RMAN will search journal 7933 on thread2 to catch the 1 wire SNA 569259816.
    Specify the set as a thread in 7933 2 sequence; and two copies must go ok!

  • IF database-> RAC database: estimate of the size of the SGA for each instance

    Hello!

    Let's say that there is a single instance with SGA 100 G size DB (assume this size is optimal for this database).

    If this database is intended to be converted to a RAC database with 2 instances (suppose DB workload will be spread over multiple instances).

    How to estimate the needs of SGA size for each instance in the RAC database?

    It takes 50G + General cool CARS (say 15%) for each instance?

    (Do not consider situation when one of the instances has failed, and all the charge redirects to an instance having survived)

    I'd be grateful if someone has offered or provided useful references.

    ---

    Kind regards

    Kyrylo

    As a general rule, I would size the SGA on new nodes to 120% of the SGA to single instance. Yes, this means that you will more than double the size of the SGA. You will need additional space to hold the load memory Cache Fusion. And the buffer Cache are possibly a little more space to store additional versions of blocks that seem to accompany the many implementations of CARS. Now, it's just a rule of thumb, so it has a high degree to be very wrong.

    You'll want to consider two big things... (1) the service being used. Will you take advantage of the services to perform the partitioning application? If so, instances can see various workloads that can lead to requests for different resources. (2) you will support a kind of failover (TAF or manual failover) applications? If so, then the LMS must be sufficiently sized to support the additional workload.

    See you soon,.

    Hello;

    In theory, it should work.

    "DUPLICATE recovers by default until the last archived redo log generated at the time the command was executed, or until one hour set with a SET clause up to THAT."

  • Multiple RAC databases on IM even using different subnets for Public i / face

    Hello. We are setting up a 2 cluster nodes. This group will be the host of several RAC databases. For security reasons, our network team want to create separate subnets for the application traffic to each RAC specific database on the cluster.

    For example, request 1 to 2 application servers that will connects to database PROD1 RAC via a single subnet, application 2-3 application servers etc which will be connected to the database RAC PROD2 via a different subnet,.

    In addition, the network team want to configure a subnet separate management DBA etc. will use to administer all the RAC databases and infrastructure in the cluster.

    Version 11.2.0.2 grid infrastructure. The database versions vary from 10.2.0.x to 11.2.0.2. All databases will use RAC.

    We want to take advantage of the features of earphone SCAN to support connectivity to databases on the cluster. 2199620 [https://cn.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2199620] thread suggests that 11 GR 2 supports several subnets, that seems to be exactly the functionality we need. Please can you confirm how it works and tell us any documentation (standard docs, whitepapers, MOS, etc.) which could help us to configure it.

    Document referenced in thread 2199620 was not exactly what we were looking for and didn't translate too well in Google Translate.

    Hello

    With Oracle 11.2, you can have multiple public networks accessing your Oracle RAC.
    You must set the init.ora new LISTENER_NETWORKS setting so users are load-balanced on their network. Services are related to the networks so users who connect with network 1 will use a different service as network 2. Each network will have its own VIP.

    Impossible to use both network SCAN function because SCAN will work into a single network and on GRID 11.2 you cannot config more than a SCAN.

    So, you can have a public network (for example, 10.10.10.0) with SCAN/VIP and another public network (e.g. 192.168.217.0) you will only use VIP on TNSNAMES.ora.

    You configure a Service (A) on the network (10.10.10.0) and one other Service (B) on the network (192.168.217.0).

    In the example above using (A) Service you will configure SCAN (scan host) and using Service (B), you must configure all address VIP.

    Hi Eric,.

    Let's not your syntax for log files. Check out the docs:

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/rcmdupdb.htm#BRADV89956

    You need only name the Group once followed a list separated by commas of the logfile members.

  • Company of Mgr 12 lost connection to the RAC databases after the restart of the EM

    This last weekend, we restarted our main production RAC database (name = prod, instances = prod1 and prod2) and our certification test RAC database (name = cert, instances = cert1 and cert2).

    These databases have been put up and work OK as a target in MS 12 c for a few months.  However, I was not able to connect to these databases into EM yesterday, so I rebooted the server database repository EM both of EM application server.

    As of today, I can connect to the web console of EM successfully, and I can bring up our databases not CARS.  But if I try to put in place either of our CARS (prod or cert) databases, or if I try to put in place a specific instance prod1, prod2 or cert1, cert2, I get errors like this:

    IO error: the network adapter could not establish the connection

    The connection descriptor was (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp) (HOST = nhaoranla - oracle.nha.local)(PORT=1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = cert1) (SERVER = DEDICATED)))

    The server nhaoranla where cert1 database instance.  We use the standard port 1521 for all targets.

    Two CARS of prod and cert authorities are running, and user applications are able to connect to the two bodies.

    I have not changed anything in EM.  The only difference with last week's restart.

    I tried to restart the server applications EM once again, but that solves nothing, I get the same error.

    Any suggestions or bugs that are known for this problem would be appreciated.

    Figured out what the problem was... TCP error message indicated it was looking for nhaoranla - oracle.nha.local , but I nhaoranla-oracle in/etc/hosts on the server to OEM applications.

    Lesson learned... If you add databases to the OEM through node discovery, initially, it could work, but it will fail when you restart your server OEM if you don't have good (complete) entries in/etc/hosts.

  • Grid Control 11g of the problems with the basic policy of RAC database

    We have a group of three nodes 11 GR 2 (rac1, rac2, rac3) and a policy based RAC database 11 GR 2 (ORCL) with cardinality 2 (ORCL_1 and ORCL_2) on this group. Used to monitor the Control 11g Grid infrastructure. Founded political RAC databases are linked to the pools of the server and not to the cluster nodes, therefore, restart the cluster database instances can run on both on 3 nodes in the cluster. For example, if ORCL_1 is running ORCL_2 and rac1 rac2 Sir after a full reboot ORCL_1 and ORCL_2 can be run on rac2 and rac3 respectively. Binding of the pool with two special nodes will be as if we use database RAC database administrator and not the policy based.

    Now the problem is that Grid Control registers the services in database with the node that is running the instance due to which, once the instances are started on a different node, she complained authorities are declining. We don't have to then reconfigure database instances and say Grid Control that they are now on another node. However, this removes the history of AWR for these instances.

    Is there a solution to this problem?

    Kind regards

    Kashif.

    Hi koko,.

    to work around this problem (I think that there is no "automatic" support in the current version of EM for switching hosts databases), you can create an ACTION_SCRIPT for your database cluster resource that is running the relocate_targets command emcli (so an emcli should be placed on all nodes of your and recorded with Super Administrator privileges). So every time you start your database resource, this script command / move the target to the current host without losing any historical information.

    Best regards
    Robert

    Edit: You can find an example of the command emcli in this document written by Rob Zoeteweij: http://oemgc.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/manage-node-failover-in-an-active-passive-setup-using-oracle-enterprise-manager-grid-control1.pdf
    In this scenario is an active/passive environment, but the command itself appies to your situation, too.

  • Mrp for RAC RAC Data guard configuration configuration

    Grid infrastructure: 11.2.0.4

    DB version: 11.2.0.4

    OS: RHEL 6.5

    Never configured dataguard to the prior CFR.

    We have a production of 3 CARS DB nodes and we plan to implement a physical standby 3-node DB with real-time applies for this prod DB.

    In a RAC database, we can only configure one mrp on the side waiting. Thus, apart from the day before, we decided to use Node3 to run MRP. We send redo all instances as stated above on the primary side

    Configuration side Step1.Primary

    Thus, in the all 3 instances of primary DB, we will configure LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 as follows.

    Again all 3 instances should now point to Instance3 Node3 break-in:

    ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 = 'service =acmsprd_dr0_tns delay LGWR SYNC AFFIRM = 0 DB_UNIQUE_NAME = acmsprd_dr0 VALID_FOR = (primary_role, online_logfile)' scope = both;

    Where acmsprd_dr0_tns is the following entry of TNS. As you can see, this name TNS tip to the side instance3 ensures

    acmsprd_dr0_tns =

    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS_LIST =

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = yrmst197 - vip3.apac.strcld)(PORT = 1521) .net)

    )

    (CONNECT_DATA =

    (SERVICE_NAME = acmsprd)

    (INSTANCE_NAME = acmsprd_dr03)

    )

    )

    Configuration of Step2.Standby side:

    Instance3 side Eve in Node3 in, start the MRP with real time apply

    sqlplus / as sysdba

    bootable media;

    change the database recovery managed standby database using the current log file disconnect;

    Nothing wrong with my steps above? Is there anything else I should do with respect to mrp?

    Thus, apart from the day before, the RFS process in each node will apply again he received primary for SRls independently to know if the mrp runs in this node. Right?

    Incorrect answer. RFS does not apply again as you said. RFS receives that again. However, RFS on all standby nodes can receive redo of any process of LNS on any node of the primary.

    It is the MRP which makes it apply, no RFS.

    Hi Brian,.

    You said

    "It is not necessary to attribute a SRL to a specific thread. This means that it is possible (and this is how I set up my backup RAC databases) for a SRL be used by any instance, no thread. »

    When you configure dataguard RAC DBs Eve (or primary DBs), add you the newspapers of recovery sleep without THREAD clause as below?

    alter database add standby logfile Group 1 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    alter database add standby logfile Group 2 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    alter database add standby logfile group 3 ('+ ORL_DG1', '+ ORL_DG2') size 500M;

    I dot does not specify a thread when creating my SRls. There is no reason to do so. Just that if you have X son of your primary and each thread has groups of newspapers make there, and then create of X * Y SRL in the day before.

    While you create the SRls, remember to create in primary school as well. You'll want them at the primary level to support the transition to the future operations.

    If this is the case, in any node Eve RFS can apply again to roll forward pending any newspaper in the standby database. Right?

    Often when people have discussions like this, it hurts ensure us that we are semantically correct otherwise, we can easily get confusing terms...

    In this case, RFS can write to any SRL, since they won't be assigned to a specific thread. And the SRL is not written in alternating as the ORLs. Then you can definitely see some of the SRL files never get used if you don't have enough flow to make to justify.

    I stay away from the term applies when the MRI because apply is that means MRP. Terms of mixing can sometimes lead to confusion on the road, that's why I would make sure to use the term appropriate to the discussion at hand. I started this answer indicating that RFS is not the 'applies' because of the way the term should be used. That I get to this part of your last post, I see that maybe we get mixed up words that's why I wanted to sort them.

    See you soon,.

  • 10g R2 no RAC-database unique Instance to upgrade to 11g R2-2 node RAC database

    Hi all

    I have a requirement for my client.

    We have a three databases with replication between them activated by MV & MV connects to the 10 g R2 database.

    This must be upgraded to Database 11g R2 with a 2 RAC node.

    Please tell us how to get started and go.

    Also please notify once upgraded to database 11g R2, how replication can be achieved.

    Thank you

    Vijayaraghavan.K

    > We have to first upgrade to 11 g R2 Instance unique and then move on RAC - node 2

    You must install the grid Infrastructure for Cluster and RAC database software in the new cluster.

    Then upgrade the database as a single instance database.

    Then, convert it to the RAC

    See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e17264/install_rac.htm#TDPRC185 for the conversion of the measures.

  • Need help for analysis "plan and background events waiting" on the report statspack for oracle database 11.2.0.4 on AIX

    HI: I analyze the STATSPACK report: this is the "volume test" on our UAT server for most of entry or "bind variables".  Our shared pool is well used in oracle.  Recovery of Oracle logs is not configured properly on this server, as in "Top 5 events of waiting", there are 2 for Oder.

    I need to know what other information may be digging from of 'waiting in the foreground events' & ' background waiting events ", and which can help us better understand, in combination of ' Top 5 wait event, that how did the server test /?  It could be overwhelming. wait events, so appreciate useful diagnostic or analyses.  Database is oracle 11.2.0.4 updated from 11.2.0.3 on IBM AIX 64-bit, level 6.x system power

    Hello

    I think that your CPU is overloaded by your stress tests. You have one VCPU with 2 wires (2 LCPU), right? And the load average is greater than one. You have time DB which is not counted in (CPU time + wait events) and which comes no doubt from time spent in the runqueue.

    > Oracle recovery logs is not properly configured on this server, as in "Top 5 events of waiting", there are 2 for oder

    It is an error in statspack for show "log file parallel write here." This moment is historical and is included in 'log file sync '. And I don't think you have to redo misconfiguration. Waiting for 1ms to commit is ok. In OLTP you should have more than one validation in a user interaction so that the user don't worry not about 1 m in batch mode, unless you commit to each row, 1 DC to commit should not increase the total execution time.

    The fact that you have a lot of line lock (enq: TX - line lock conflict) but very little time (on average 97 ms) is probably a sign that testers are running simultaneously a charge affecting the same data. Their set of test data is perhaps too simple and short. An example: when stress tests of an order entry system if you run 1000 concurrent sessions, ordering the same product to the same customer, you can get this kind of symptoms, but the test we unrealistic.

    It's a high activity of 2000 calls per second, 52 transactions per second, user. But you also have low average active sessions, so the report probably covers a period of non-uniform activity, which makes the averages without meaning.

    So note to tell about the events of waiting here. But we don't have any info about 39% of DB time devoted to the CPU which is where something can be improved.

    Kind regards

    Franck.
