DV2899EA artist Edition Motherboard failure

Hello

I have a problem with my laptop. When I gave in the HP service center, they said the chipset has failed because of the heat of the NVIDEA graphics card problem. The only way is changing the complete chipset, but it costs about $ 400.

That is cool that much and I have no another way to put my laptop in working condition.

What worries me is if change the chipset, is there a guarantee that it works very well without heating problem?

Is any other motherboard available without graphics card NVIDIA for my laptop model?

My laptop model is DV2899EA.

Kind regards

Riadh

You have the version Intel dv2700 series which is not as prone to failure as the AMD version. However, you do not have the nVidia GeForce graphics card, which as you have seen may fail.

460716 001

The foregoing is the reference number of the motherboard with the Intel integrated graphics card. Here is a link to the Service Manual:

Manual

The motherboard itself is easily available on eBay:

http://www.eBay.com/ITM/new-genuine-HP-460716-001-Pavilion-Intel-socket-478-laptop-motherboard-/230836287498?PT=motherboards&hash=item35beea380a

This motherboard would have lower performance in game and graphics, but would run cooler and likely to last longer.

The Council must adapt, but there may be minor differences with the ports that may require a fitting.

You might be able to get a local service shop to install Rod type grahics integrated around work $150, which would make the total bill more like $ 250 to $ 400. Frankly, I would like to buy a new laptop before spending that much to fix, but it's your call.

First of all - i guess well never again HP, if you out of warranty - these guys are unnecessary and just pay, something has already been paid for. So here's my problem-i got HP DV6Z-1100SE artist edition laptop, blue-white custom and high body. It was shipped with Windows Vista on it and later has been upgraded to Windows 7 came laptop with Stardock MyColors with HP artist edition 2 theme for her. Months ago my HARD drive died, brick full. Not a problem - I looked up the back, so I bought a new HARD drive and reinstalled windows 7. Well then I got barely - hp.com is my model of laptop, nothing. So executed 'autodetect' - it will recognize it as usual portable base DV6Z-1100. Although drivers are the same, so I got this operational part. But then I tried to make my Windows 7 look like it used to be-with the HP artist edition 2 Theme. And here the problem-i can't find it, I can't download it, found older 2-3 markets here on "back-up your theme. Then, I used my Googling advanced skills and got the software back-Stardock MyColors app. I was able to find 3 or 4 themes such as "Edition Vivienne mAh" and "wrong Boontje edition", but I want MY BLUE AND WHITE HP THEME! " Well-i guess, it's time to call HP, right? * beep *-wrong answer. The guy does not even what I'm talking about and tried to sell me extended support program and to charge me $ 99 to do this, if I don't want to pay to go to HP.com and download it. Loop... So, if anyone can point me to HP software package with Stardock my colors HP Artist Edition 2, or if there is an owner of the laptop can even email - me the theme file. Any help is apperciated. I hope I can get it, otherwise that this laptop will be the last HP product I got. Same Dell which is known for terrible customer serivce can maintain at least their website with good product downloads. Thank you very much in advance, I really hope that I'll bring back the original look of my laptop.

This agreement of the whole of the community is as useless as the HP technical support. I got the theme recovered from the former to the top (lucky me). HP never more. Laptop goes on sale, do not want to take care of this thing once again. If someone looking for theme-leave your e-mail, I'll send it to you.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-1260se artist edition Entertainment Notebook PC Hard Drive Question

Hello, I hope someone here can answer a question for me. I have a 4 year old HP Pavilion dv6-1260se artist edition Entertainment Notebook PC and the hard drive died on me. I have been trading for the replacement of the hard disk and found a 1 TB disk toshiba sata hard I like, the original drive was a 500 GB. I'm a graphic designer in order to available disk space is important in a replacement player. The page of product for my laptop specification does not say if the original hard drive was a sata drive. Did anyone here know if a 1 TB sata drive will work in my laptop? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Your hard drive is SATA. Service and maintenance Guide lists the largest available in 500 GB hard drive. This isn't a definitive answer that your laptop can not use a 1 TB retail hard drive. However, if you use recovery disks Vista to install Windows on it, the more great concern will use a hard drive Advanced Format (AF). Most recent hard drives are AF and Vista will probably not be able to install.

  • upgrading HP Pavilion dv6-1260 Artist Edition dual core i7 processor

    Hello.

Is it possible to put my laptop dual core

upgrading HP Pavilion dv6-1260 Artist Edition

    to i7?

    Thanks in advance.

    Andrey

    Hi, Andrey:

Accroding to the specifications of your laptop, it comes with a processor AMD Turion X 2 Ultra ZM - 85 Dual - Core Mobile, correct?

If this is the case, you can not put an Intel processor in a laptop computer with an AMD processor.

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

Support for AMD processors are listed in Chapter 1, page 1.

It would not be the time or the money to upgrade to one of the most numbered 2 processors as yours.

  • Comfort provided with dv6-1299ea Artist Edition - How does it work wireless mouse?

Hi, I just got a new laptop of artists Edition that came with a "comfort wireless mouse. The guide quick installation for the mouse seems to show some kind of USB dongle required, but nothing like this anywhere in the package. Does anyone know how to get me a?

    Thank you

I was puzzled by that initially as well.  So I decided to read the instructions and found that there is a small USB transmitter/receiver inside the mouse battery compartment.  What explains that the cover is of irregular shape for a single battery.

  • HP Pavilion dv2800t artist Edition - display problems (GPU/Nvidia)

I bought the edition of artist dv2890ca about a year and a half ago and have had a problem with the video card (just recently discovered that it is on the motherboard); The computer had a 1 year warranty.

It started with a blue screen and the computer to turn off after about 10-15 minutes whether I did a little research and then disabled the nvidia card and started to run on the normal screen of windows (Vista); Obviously didn't help and turn it off has started to happen more often and in shorter time periods.

Now the screen does not come on at all.

It is apparently a known issue with Nvidia gpu overheating with reminders, etc. - but not for this laptop.

Just found out that I have to spend about $300 - $450 for this compensation and have no way to resolve this issue with hp directly.

Nobody knows anything about this or if there is a way easier and less expensive for this issue?

    Ends on a high note

Picked up the cell phone today from the service center HP (Visual, Penrose, Auckland group) that have replaced the hard drive, which was the apparent cause.

HP paid for evaluation and replacement, so I'm not complaining!

All I can say now is that I am impressed that the issue has been addressed quickly and in my favor, regardless of the initial complaint. I can live with that as long as I don't have the question again in 3 months.

Thank you Charmaine (in Wgtn) and Rajeev (in support of HP... I guess that the India)

  • Is - that look like a motherboard failure

Last night I moved to sentence the BTX HP PC while it worked, barely, and a few minutes later, I found myself without internet. I don't really know if it was that which made it or not, because I could have sworn that the internet was working again after I moved the PC.

Whatever it is, the wireless, or the part of the network adapter wireless network adapter seemed to have stopped working and don't recognize any wireless in the air. I tried not to cable.

I was searching a solution when all of a sudden just before I turned off Vista or just before I turned off, both monitors failed. All I did was and then reinstall the network card software, although I m I don't know how since I didn't have the CD, I was just saying it lean on my hard drive to see if it was not found. so I really don - t think, what could be her.

I tried the integrated graphics card and also n - t work, the monitors would not recognize the PC.

The PC turns on, sounds power supply unit end and as far as I know it could load the operating system, but I can see is nothing. That look like a partial failure of the motherboard which increases randomly just for a full no fails. The connections from the motherboard may be failing in this way

And is it possible to extract the master hard drive on this PC and paste it into another HP as nothing ever happened

    Hello

You can get an external USB enclosure for your hard drvie so that you can retrieve your user data.

If the PC seems to be start then maybe you need a video card.

  • Motherboard failure: licence of redemption and change OS?

    Hello

I own the CS6 Premium Production package - I am a student - I bought in September 2012. I installed it on a MacBook Pro running OS x 10.6.8. Unfortunately, I have recurring problems with my computer: motherboard crashed twice in late 2012 and 2013 start - I already contacted him Support from Adobe at the time because software were supposed to be always installed on "another computer" due to change of card mother and this problem has been solved very quickly - and I currently meet what appears to be the same failure of the motherboard.

Because now I have not fixed my MacBook yet and I don't need - yet - troobleshooting licensing, but I can't start it, which means that I can't cancel the license of my Adobe software. As it will probably be the motherboard again (same symptoms) I would like to know before handling my computer to Apple if it will be possible to cancel, once again, my previous install on this motherboard almost dead once it is replaced.

Second question, because I'm a little tired of this costly problem of Mac, I plan to go back to Windows, but I feel trapped in my too expensive Adobe software are Mac only: what are my options? Is it possible to do it for free because I'm obviously the Mac for Exchange and do not use both? Being a student, is there additional options?

  • Satellite M200 - Windows Explorer; alleged motherboard failure

My Satellite M200 works on 32 bit; The OP is Vista Home Basic.

For the last two months I had messages that windows Explorer has stopped working... windows explore restarts etc.
After efforts to find a solution, I took my laptop to a local technician, to find a solution to the problem and to upgrade RAM. The problem continued, and he advised that the motherboard is faulty.

The intention had been to reformat computer technology however, or I can get to the startup section; Windows itself continues to operate.
RAM has been successfully extended to 2g. My computer tech had tried to upgrade to 4g even if the laptop is only 32-bit - to my knowledge capable of only 2g of RAM.
He said he changed the BIOS according to the instructions of Toshiba to try installing 4 g; but only 2g works.

I also tried to install Nero9, supposed to be compatible with Vista. On the first attempt, 4 hours later only 9% had installed; When subsequent attempts after 45 minutes, only 6%.
This program has been installed successfully on computers running XP.
I tried to send this message before, but he did not appear on the forum. My apologies if you are reading this (abridged version) version for yet another time.

    camerc

    Hi mate

The use of 4 GB depends on three factors; Operating system, Chipset and BIOS.
All these parts must support the 4 GB if you want to use.

The 32-bit Windows OS (no matter if it s Win XP or Vista) would recognize only 3.2 GB.
So, even you would have a BIOS and capable chipset, the OS appear only 3.2 GB if it s 32-bit.

I put t know what chipset using your laptop but if it s one of the Intel chipsets then all the details can be found on the Intel page. There you can check if your chipset would support 4 GB of RAM or not.

Please follow the methods and check if it works very well.

    Method 1:

Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer except keyboard, mouse and monitor, and then try to install Windows XP.

    Method 2:

  • Motherboard failure, repair hp will affect the OS?

    Hello

I have a laptop that is under warranty, which probably has a broken motherboard. I was wondering if they will change only on the motherboard or will they also to reinstall the entire operating system? I have a lot of programs installed so that it would be a little awkward to reinstall them.

There is really no way of knowing if a recovery will take place until they get the system.  If the components of the motherboard are exactly the same, so they does not work probably recovery... unless they identify software issues.
