XP Media Edition installation failure.
I install XP Media Edition OS on the new HARD drive. Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA6G. I have reset the BIOS by default. CD ROM is 1st boot device.
The BIOS recognizes the HARD drive.
When I press the button to start the installation, I get "Setup inspects your hardware configuration. and back to the beginning and start all over.
If I miss key, I get "NTLDR is missing. «Hit control / ALT / Delete to restart»
Hi Frank,.
What is the brand and model of your computer?
Please follow the methods and check if it works very well.
Method 1:
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer except keyboard, mouse and monitor, and then try to install Windows XP.
Method 2:
If you have connected additional hard disks, please disconnect the additional hard drive and check.
If you have several sticks of RAM installed, make sure that you use only one stick of RAM and check if you are able to install Windows XP. RAM minimum for Windows XP is 128 MB.
NOTE: If you are not comfortable removing the RAM stick or disconnect the hard drive, please contact a local hardware technician or contact the manufacturer of your computer for help.

Toshiba Media Controller Installl failure... (WIN 8)
Hi all
Seems to be the Toshiba Media controller released [here: http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK]
Is detined to fail by design...
It's 'metro', the problem is that Windows 8 will not allow you to install files appx unless its the store unless you have domain connected machines etc. you also need a development license.
I tried loading side this with powershell, but nothing helps...
Anyone who is or have they just get something out without testing?
Thank you
L
Hello
Yes, you are right, as far as I know that you can not install Apps from metro unless its on Microsoft Store. So in my opinion, this was a bad download.
You should not try to install this application on computer you. -

Backup of personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then do a format and clean install of Windows. Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) will NOT fix it!

I need help with an installation failure to interpret and troubleshoot a Setup log.
Background: A few years ago, many editors of cinema used Final Cut Pro 6 (also contained in Final Cut Studio 2) for their editing projects. Shared Apple Final Cut X uses a different format that is not compatible with FCP6. Sometimes, these editors are called to work on a few historical projects that have been published in FCP6 and need this version to run now.
Starting with OS X Lion, FCP6 would install not in Lion and thereafter.
According research by Jeremy Johnston as noted on his blog, he discovered that Apple has inserted a file in the folder CoreServices in the Library folder of the system folder that causes versions the version Final Cut Pro X (and other older Apple programs in the same situation) do not settle. He suggested changes to this file that would seek to prevent interfering with the installation of FCP6 in Lion, many users of final cut PRO 6 were successful in their efforts to install in Lion and work with it.
Later in a discussion update on installing FCP6 in Mavericks, HawaiianHippie determined that the simplest way to perform the installation of FCP6 was simply copy this file and remove it from the system folder, install FCP6 and then restore the copied file:

I used this method with success to install FCS2 in Yosemite:
However, in my attempts to install FCS2 in El Capitan, it fails in the last 5% to install the first DVD:
First of all, I need advice on how to display an extremely large Setup log in this thread (on MacRumors, it is a method to insert a 'code' in a small box that can be the object of a scrollbar if necessary to read all along). I am unable to find such a method to post here.
Then once approved, I need help to determine which component is causing the installation to fail and perhaps this element can be omitted from the installation:
If this element is not required, then maybe FCP6 can be installed successfully without it. And if that omitted element is necessary, perhaps a manual method to install it can be determined by pacifists.
It is my goal to help those who need to install and use FCP6 on their new Macs running El Capitan.
Here is the post on MacRumors with pre-installed Setup log:

Hi BruceWalz,
· What is the brand and model of the machine?
· What is the full error message that you receive?
a. you can disable the eSATA from the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) drive and then try to start the installation of Windows XP from the Windows XP disc.
Note: Changing the BIOS / chipset can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/chipset can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
b. After you downloaded and installed the SATA drivers from the manufacturer's website, reactivate the eSATA drive.
Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

Pavilion Media Edition a1640n - adding hard drives
I want to add a second hard drive of my Media Edition Pavilion a1640n.
I found the SATA ports, but I can't find a free plug in power cable.
The existing HD has 2 caps of small power inside. 1 is just a 2 orange wires.
Any help?
You must upgrade the power supply to one with more capacity and connections to add a hard disk in the current configuration of your PC.
An alternative would be to delete the connections of power and data on the DVD player and use them for the additional disk. You really use the DVD player very often or is it just take place?
I could really justify not upgrade the PSU, in terms of expenditure, as the PC has very little residual value after eight years of use.
The PC is worth the upgrade when it may stop working at any time?
Eight years of use on a pc is actually quite extraordinary. Consider yourself lucky.

I have a gateway xp media edition with sp3.

Cannot find my recovery disks. Is there a place of Microsoft
can I download the file directory? If not, is it possible to copy the repair
Directory of any xp cd to replace my missing? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Hello
· Are you able to start on the computer?
· You get the error message?
· What anti-virus program do you use?
Follow these methods and check if that helps:
Method 1:
I suggest you to download and run the latest Microsoft security on your computer Scanner and check if it helps:
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: the data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.
Method 2:
I suggest you install the latest anti-virus Microsoft Security essential on the computer program and check if it helps.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/products/security-essentials
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 3:
If you have Windows XP CD you can try to check and scan of System File Checker running if this can help.
