I have 3120se DV6, product #LE529EA

Whenever I start it, it goes to a black screen with 'the SMART disk check has detected an imminent failure, to ensure no data loss, please save the content immediately... ". "I knew that is to indicate my drive failure and I replace it, it is a chance I like to save the content first? and how? because I have no recovery disk. BTW, I already bought new WD 500 Gb hard drive and I would like to replace by myself but I need support so that I can learn. Could someone give a favor? Thank you very much.

Transfer of data from a drive that has failed is a maybe, without guarantee of success.  I recommend that you order a set of recovery disks.

This will cost much less to have to buy an operating system of Microsoft installation DVD.

The next time you buy a computer laptop of any manufacturer do you the favor of the creation of a set of recovery disks or usb recovery media when the software asks you if you are ready. This will give you a plan 'B' in case of problems like the one you have now.

  • Pavilion dv6: graphic driver problems

    I recently updated my graphics drivers on the AMD website, which I did not know that at the time, did not fully support the laptop itself. After having done that, I had a problem with playback of videos where in certain circumstances the video would be black but audio would play again. I tried to uninstall the graphics driver that seems to resolve the video issue, but then none of my games would launch at all. Is there a way that I can return the graphic drivers for the basic version where I had not either of these issues?

    Select a restore point created before you tried to update the graphics driver from AMD.

    When I was browsing through the maintenance and service guide, I noticed you have switchable graphics.

    That being said, I suggest you do a recovery in factory.  This will reinstall the drivers of graphics cards correctly and I hope to solve this problem.

    Performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

    During the recovery, there is an option to backup your personal data if you do not have a recently I'd do one now to avoid any data loss.

    Restore files that have been supported to the top using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)

    If for any reason any recovery did not resolve the issue please provides your exact model of DV6.

    I have a Pavilion dv6 for the past three years; It worked perfectly until recently.

  • DV6-3120 difficult upgrade

    Hey all -

    Updated the palmrest for my Pavilion dv6-3120us and decided to buy one with a built in fingerprint reader.

    This was announced as a palmrest "dv6-3000' series, and it is a perfect match for my laptop."

    The only problem is my PC gives me a Code 28 (device driver (location: Port_ #0001.Hub_ #0005) not installed) and I was up at present unable to find the driver or software for the fingerprint reader.

    Maybe it's because during the original purchase, I did not buy the package with the fingerprint reader? When I replaced my keyboard, I saw the port labeled "fingerprint reader", so I assumed (apparently unwisely) I could just 'Plug and go '.

    My driver update reveals no useful answers.

    Any ideas?

    If the fingerprint sensor port was on the motherboard that I have to think that the security chip is there, too. It should work.

    Hello, so here's my problem. This laptop is only three days old, and already I have a problem. So what is happening is that the audio transmission is having a problem. I have 95% use a headset and the audio works fine with headphones. BUT what happened earlier today that I just listened to a few songs and then I got a call from Skype, and just as I began to speak, the sound was messed up. The person's voice played through headphones, but my computer sound (the song) started playing through the computer and not the headset. Then, I tried to unplug my headphones and plug it back in, but then it didn't always work. The only way it worked was if I held the helmet and halfway into the socket. So, basically, I can't really talk to anyone on the computer without computer audio is turned on and messed up. Any help would be good. Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum.

    Try this and see if it helps.

    Right click on your sound on your taskbar icon and enter the Settings of Volume Option.

    Check the boxes for your audio devices.

    Click OK

    Now, click on the sound icon and see that you will have a sound control for your devices appear next to each other - there will be a line through them.  If you set the primary audio device, everything goes with it, adjust the other (s), it/they adjust only.

    Adjust the checked boxes and sliders to get what you want.

    I think you need to use the "Exclusive Mode" setting on the Advanced tab to keep only one application (another) to capture the sound control.  I don't know which application would have priority (or which one you prefer under what circumstances)-I think this is where you will have control over what happens when, for example, you use a Skype headset session and start a game session which (I assume) would use the speakers on the laptop (or external speakers (, depending on your configuration.)  See the graphics down.

    Note that you can play with a variety of other sound settings (without making any damage) to increase the listening pleasure.  Just go slowly and check between the changes to make sure that you do not have too much too fast.

    Beware of the "improvements".

    For example: The Loudness equalization can make a song sound clean and strong, it could deafen and strangle with the next song and make it difficult to hear. It is the opposite of what we want to do.  So desperate, try - if it works, use it, otherwise shut it off.

    I bought a HP Pavlion DV6-6C52EL, last year, with Windows 7 pre-installed. After two months I have upgraded to Windows 8 and now to Windows 8.1 (I did a new install of Windows 8 and an upgrade from 8 to 8.1).

    But I have some problems with the video drivers. In particular, each time I get an error message about 'Application of the load MMDriver. First of all, I must say that my VGA is an AMD Radeon 7470 M + the built-in Intel HD 3000 (my processor is an Intel Core i5).

    So I uninstalled the video drivers (the AMD and Intel VGA drivers) and reinstalled the new on the HP Support site, but they are for Windows 8 (not for the 8.1) and not updated. in fact, I always get the error message, and I see that the AMD Radeon 7470 does not work. Only the Intel HD 3000 jobs. In Device Manager, I get the error Code 43 on the Radeon. Suggestions? I've already updated the BIOS to the latest version, without success. Should I downgrade to Windows 8 or 7?

    HP, please update your drivers for Windows 8.1.

    12/15 PATCH: Finally, I have completely solved the problem. Now, both the VGA and the brightness adjustment work perfectly.

    After numerous tests, the pilot plants and the facilities (and a lot of patience ), I would like to share my solution for users with my same problem.

    Before you begin, please check the HP support Site if Windows 8.1 drivers are now available.

    • If Yes, you will get your graphics card works only by installing the proper drivers.
    • If No, please go to read this post.

    -If you plan to make an own 8.1 Windows Installer, just download the Windows 8 drivers for Intel HD integrated graphics card and the dedicated graphics AMD Radeon on the HP's Support Site and install them. They must work immediately.

    -If you have updated your system to Windows 8 Windows 8.1, as in my case, you may have some graphic problems. I'll show you how to solve these problems step by step.

     

         1. update your BIOS to the latest version available. Download from the Official Site of HP Support.

          2 uninstall the driver of Intel's integrated graphics and the dedicated Control Panel AMD graphics card driver. Do not restart your PC.

          3 using the free tool Display Driver Uninstaller (search on Google for the latest version), clean the registry keys and system files to completely remove drivers AMD. Restart your PC now.

    4. download the HD Graphics of Intel and AMD Radeon drivers for Windows 8 on the HP Support Site, but only install drivers from Intel.

          5 enter the BIOS Setup and change the mode of "Switchable Graphics"on"fixed".

     

          6 now install previously downloaded AMD Radeon drivers and reboot your PC.

    When you restart Windows 8.1, you should get the fully functional Radeon; check in the Device Manager to see if it's ok. If this isn't the case, please follow my guide illustrated in the 'Update 12/08' above post and try with that.

    You have now (finally!) the Intel and AMD Radeon graphics working with the brightness setting.

    Hi, I have a hp dv6-6107tx. The specifications of the laptop is i7 2630qm, graphics 1 GB HD 6770 m, 4 GB memory card. I want to replace the motherboard as it freezes after a few minutes of use, sometimes in 5 minutes and sometimes 30.

    The question is if I can replace it with the motherboard which has 2 GB of vram instead of 1 GB. I'm not personally interested 2 GB but its cheaper on ebay and easily found.     Please see page 27. Your CPU is a Quad Core and is listed as compatible with the laptop and Board 650799-001. Just as the gel be sure and that are not caused by anything like the memory or the hard drive before the extraordinary step of replacing the motherboard.

    FYI, your system came with Windows 7 64-bit 32-bit only... so unless you put in shape it back to the right o/s your out of luck on the right driver...

    Try the following.

    Unplug the ethernet cable from the laptop.  Return to Device Manager, open the network adapters, right click on the entry for Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and select uninstall - you should also receive a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

    When it finished, restart the computer and let Windows reinstall the hardware.  Leave empty for a few minutes and try the ethernet connection.
