DV7-2180us

Hi I have a dv7-2180us and wanted to upgrade the processor, I wondered what the fastest cpu I can install it. the card system is Quanta 3624 18.42 I also wanted to see if I can update the graphics card, I think that there are 2 win options you bought the device I currently Radeon HD 4650. Any information on this would be great thank you.

It's perfect the link you provided has the reference numbers listed on page 93 and shows that the CPU can be removed on the page folloqing. Looks like I can go to the following cpu

Intel Core 2 Duo T9800 2.93 GHz with 6 MB of cache L2 and FSB 1066 MHz 507951-001

regarding the sick graphics more closely some more it may or may not be not be attached to the main Board see link

the link you have provided will help a lot thanks anyway.

    Hello

I'm looking to replace the hard drive on my DV7 2180 with a SSD. Are there recommendations for SSDS brands/models that are known to be compatible with this model? Will be the WOOD for this model accept/read/write to an SSD? Help, please!

I plan on my existing drive cloning, and I am currently running Windows 7 64 if that helps.

  • downgrade from Vista to XP 32 bit on dv7-2180us

Hi, I have recently bought a HP dv7-2180us notebook model and downgraded to XP. The downgrade worked fine, but I'm having a little trouble getting all the drivers for the hardware. I already checked the post-its on the decommissioning and it helped a lot, but for some reason, does not work my graphics driver. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 graphics with 1 GB dedicated video memory card. I installed the driver that came with it (32-bit), but when I install it comes up with this error message, "Setup has not found a driver that is compatible with your current hardware or operating system. The Setup will now exit. "and that's it. Y at - it a cure for this? Thank you very much in advance.

Also, I have a few other drivers that I have yet to install, which is a 'HP Integrated Model' pilot, three pilots 'Base system device' and an 'unknown device '. How can I find out what they are and how to get the drivers for them? But it's the kind of a secondary issue. My main priority is to get a graphics driver for the laptop, and then I can concentrate on the rest of these drivers. Thanks again.

Ah I found the solution to the problem. I had to manually install the driver on my own. In case someone else has the same problem I did, install the driver somewhere, X:/ATI /.

Then go to your device, made Manager right click the VGA hardware, and then choose set to update driver. Choose the second option, saying that you will find the driver on your own. Then in the next screen select "don't search" and click Next. In this list choose graphics cards and then click Next. Click "Disk" and navigate to where you extracted the driver. Select the INF file (mine was "CX_81744.inf") and select ATI Radeon HD 4650 in the list of drivers. Finish it and enjoy

Thanks to CherylG for helping me find the rest of the drivers. That helped a lot. See you soon!

  • Adding a second drive to a dv7-2180us

I recently bought a new dv7-2180us to replace my older zv5000 of 5 years who has been/is having supply problems. I want to take the drive of the zv5000 and place as a 2nd hard drive in the new laptop (mainly because I don't want to have to fight to keep the old lit long enough to transfer files). Is it possible to do so, and if so do I need something more to mount the drive.

    Thanks for any help.

    Sabrina

Not exactly. The drive is not compatible with the equipment of the new HP. (IDE connector old to a more recent IDE to Sata connector.)

You could get an external enclosure and get this support, or you could get a cable adapter, like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812156015

I recommend the latter, myself. I have one and it works fantastic for information on older hard drives. It does not have technical knowledge to use, but I think you could probably understand.

  • My dv7-2180us ceased to start with the new SSD (work)

    Hi people,

Just got THE Vertex 100 GB SSD last night, installed on my Pavilion DV7 laptop and went to the city. Installed Windows 7, flashed the bios to 0.41, installed the chipset, storage and display of HP drivers, installed office, installation of visual studio, patched and patched and patched again. All in all, it was three hours and 10-15 restarts with nary a problem. The _only_ glitch I met was at the very beginning, when the installer of Windows 7 stuck during the "expansion of the files. I just clicked on 'back', re-picked the scores he has already made and further success.

I turned off the machine last night and this morning it would not start. He would just stroll downtown. I tried pulling memory and disk, he beat POST, second addition of add-on, player still worked, added, crash. Replaced the SSD drive with my drive OEM, fine boots.

I thought the drive was toast, but put in a USB enclosure to make sure. It works perfectly.

Any suggestions? Seems to be a potential problem between HP, maybe the new bios (?) and the reader, but I can't understand why he spent so long after it flashes without problem.  Could I go back to an older version of flash?

    Thank you!

It would not be a bad idea to head over to ocztechnologyforums.com to check that you have the latest firmware recommended on the SSD. I followed the guide for my SSD Vertex and have had zero problems with my installation of Windows 7.

You should be able Flash the BIOS of your laptop computer to the previous version.

  • error of USB hub

    Hello

I've upgraded to windows 7 on my Pavilion dv7-2180us a few months past without any problems and things worked really well since then.

Last night, however, I started having errors on the usb port.

If I open the Device Manager, it gives me a list of USB devices are working properly, and then lists "unknown device".

If I go to properties it says that it is the standard USB host controller and gives this message:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I've upgraded to the latest Windows hotfix. I have re-downloaded & installed the drivers from the chipset intel from this site and I still get the error.

I checked the event log, but there is no error reported.

Two USB ports are now does not work.

It could be a hardware problem, it could be a driver problem or it could be something to do with other software I have installed...

Any ideas how I can limit?

    Thank you

    -kevin

It actually turned to be annoyingly easy.

I finally managed to find a web post where someone had the same problem. Taking their suggestion, I turned off the laptop, he unplugged and took out the battery for a few minutes. Then restarted and... * ding *... works very well.

Seems there is a capacitor on the usb controller which must accumulate a load to deodorize the parameters. And unless empty you the load completely from the map, they can get corrupted. As I rarely turn off my cell phone, it never gets drained. I had turned to bike a few times since the problem, but never taken from the battery.

I am pleased, it's a simple solution, but I must admit to being a little disappointed by that.  Seems like that should fall into the category 'you should not do. "

    * shrug *.

Maybe this will help someone else, at least.

  • HP Pavilion dv7: unable to connect to the Internet

I can't access the Internet via ethernet or wireless. It seemed to happen after an update of Windows 10.

Other computer and android phone can access the wireless. When I click on the wireless icon, I see different networks, including mine. However, it is said, "No Internet, secure." I ran a diagnosis, saying that the wireless network adapter and the wired network adapter does not work. I tried to update the drivers, but to no avail.

I remove this update. I have HP Pavilion dv7, produces none. QJ799AV #ABA. It seems that there are no drivers for Windows 10.

  • Pavilion dv7t-4000 laptop: AMD HDMI port on the computer laptop dv7 is lost after free trial Win10 returns to Win7 Home Premium edition

My laptop was purchased in sept 2010 and runs Win7 Home Premium Edition (64-bit).

It worked perfectly until June 2016, when the trial version free odious Win10 forced itself on my laptop.  I had no choice, I used Win10 for a day or 2 and then discovered that:

    (1) I lost the audio capability, HDMI port, I use to connect to my TV, and

    (2) the Win10 trial enabled me to return on Win7, I did without delay.

In my Win 7 restored, everything was fine, except when I have her go in Control Panel to configure / reconfigure HDMI as the default, I couldn't - the element used to appear as "AMD HDMI Audio" is no longer displayed.  I remember a message during the free trial period Win10 that says it has disabled any material incompatible.  Without a doubt, Win10 free trial 'killed' this HDMI/device port, at least audio-wise.

Today, I always run the same Win7, but I can't have audio HDMI on this port.  When I connect to my TV, the video works.  Win7 Device Manager it shows with an exclamation in yellow, and when I right click to get more details, there is a message saying Microsoft:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52).

Is there a way to 'get it '?  'this' is AMD HDMI audio.  (and wthout spoil the graphics - that is, video)

I tried to install the drivers provided by AMD [graphics] and that did not work. The Internet from AMD website says that the audio drivers are included in the package for graphics drivers.  There is also a huge confusion in the way these low level items are named/described: ATI and AMD, because they have merged, were used somewhat interchangeably.  I also tried the graphics drivers AMD HP Support Web site specific to my laptop and it has only gotten worse.

Thank you for your kind attention.

    Hi @ RTX,

Awesome response. I read the details and depth of your post. I understand that the bios is updated. So you could end up with this update.

Happens to the other updates. This will be the order.

    1. Uninstalling the driver Chipset and resettlement.

2 reinstalling and uninstalling graphics drivers

    3. uninstall the sound drivers and reinstall.

Before uninstalling, you can try to update the drivers supplied by device also Manager and if that market that will be great. Please, do it only if you don't have already done.

Before uninstalling please make sure that you capture an image of the complete Device Manager window. Take some pictures of your cell phone. Please note the exact device for audio and video chipset drivers. Then, you will need to uninstall it from the Device Manager and install from the support site in the above order so that there is no confusion.

If nothing works as a last resort, you may need to restore complete system to factory settings. Please backup your files before doing so. This is possible since the recovery of your computer's hard drive partition.

  • Pavillion DV7: Can I PUT

Anyone know if my laptop can run win 8 or 10 instead of VISTA.

    is laptop Pavilion DV7 - 1215eo

What about Windows 7? Superior to Vista way. Your video chip Radeon HD3450 is on the list of specifically not supported by Windows 10 chips. Windows 8 would probably work OK, but you would be better with 7 instead of 8. I know for sure 7 works fine as I have Windows 7 running on essentially the same model without any problem.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 - 3188cl: HP Pavilion does not connect to Internet (resolved)

I recently got a HP Pavillion Entertainment, model number dv7 - 3188cl, for me to use for a class at the school by my uncle. Before the recovery, everything worked perfectly well. My uncle asked me to reset the computer, so we used the recovery disks that wiped the hard drive successfully but then refuses to reinstall the operating system. Instead of getting another set of recovery disks that I've used a Windows 7 install disc to reinstall the OS and he did so successfully with one flaw, the laptop does not connect to the internet.

I tried to connect via ethernet and it does not find my WiFi network. I suspect his lack a driver and checked for drivers on the HP site but he said that there is none. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and if there is no driver for this I would be grateful if you could tell me where to download from.
