  I have a dv7-3160us, which has the secondary drive Bay.

  I have a second WD 500 GB SATA bare drive.

  Where can I get information on obtaining a mounting bracket so the cable appropriate to mount this drive naked in the secondary drive Bay?

  I was on the phone with HP tech supp, even after nearly 30 minutes to try to explain what I had it and still had no idea told me he ALREADY had a hard disk of 500 GB in it... :-) Enough of that.

• DV7-3160US not display

  Hi all

  I have a DV7-3160US that powers on but has no display. All the leds light up to the don't start just no video output. I have the seal to an external display and I confirmed that there no video source. I came to the conclusion that the motherboard has to be bad. I was checking the support area of the product, but I wasn't able to find the listed service manual. I checked the forums and found a manual laptop DV7 series but its for intel according to models. Anyone know where I could possibly find the manual for the amd models? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  That certainly makes sound as a system card is no longer functional, but have you tried a hard reset as a last resort.

  Try a hard reset as follows:

  (1) remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
  (2) press and hold the power button for more than 15 seconds.
  (3) plug the DC power adapter (leave the battery for now)
  4) press the power button

  I would spend 4 GB memory to 8.  It seems to me that two of your DDR3-1333 4 GB modules would work, but I am not sure.  I tried to run the memory verification program, but it does not work for me.  Two of these modules will work in my machine?

  I believe that your laptop memory is DDR2, if that's the case, DDR3 won't work (or made) because they are physically different modules

  This is the upgrade for you mobile recommended by Crucial

  Check the memory you already have installed using CPU-Z - when it is installed, launch the application, click the SPD tab (if it shows nothing change memory slot selection in the drop-down list box) and check if your memory is displayed as DDR2.

• DV7-3160us: hard drive problem or the operating system?

  After the HP screen, I get a black screen that says: Boot Device not found please install an operating system on your hard drive. Hard drive-(3F0).  But if I hit the f4 key it states: there is no hard drive.

  If anyone out there can answer to this dilemma, I just need to make the recovery discs or replace the hard drive?

  Thank you, had an independent check that the drive was dead. Can be fixed, but still old technology was so not worth.

• WAN Railink 5390 g6 vs Atheros AR 9285 in dv7.

  I just bought a g6-1b70US for my wife. She uses a dv7-3160US for 15 months. Island dv7 was simply too great for travel. She visits several times a year.

  When I put the two computers within a couple of feet of my wireless g Linksys WRT54Gs router my network shows 100% for the dv7 meter compared to 90% for the g6.

  When I moved two laptops for 2 laptops in the office of my wife at the end of the home, away from my office where is the router, the g6 falls to ND - 10% (1 to 2 Mbit/s), the dv7 for 30 to 42% (54 Mbps).

  The g6 has a Railink 5390. The dv7 has Atheros AR9285 adapter.

  Internet still works, and she has no compIained still on speed. I can think of several ways that bothers or expensive to fix the problem, but y at - it a simple? I have the updated driver.

  I noticed that the Atheros AR9285 is on the list of parts for the g6 series. I'm a victum of cheaping out?

  I finally gave up and moved to my desktop computer connected to the router in my office for a room of friends closer to my wife's computer.

  I moved the Office of the guest room at my office and it has established as my main desktop computer.

  I dug my WRE54G range extender off storage and installed in my office

  Everything is now satisfactory.

  It would have been a lot easier if the wireless in the new laptop of g6-1b70US of my wife wasn't so horrible.

  I just installed an OJ Pro 8500 and signed for ePrint.  Everything seemed good.  However, the printer is unable to find the e-mail address.  It is very well served.  The application runs until it times out.  FYI, win7 64 bit os running on a computer laptop dv7-3160us Pavilian.

  "Thing" printed about 4 hours later!

  Go figure...

• Pavilion DV7-6000 series. Error message at startup invalid product information

  I didn't know that my motherboard was bad from the factory.  On the first day, I was unable to do a full factory restore.  I always send to HP.  They sent me a motherboard and after installing it, I was able to do a full factory restore.  It was amazing... However, I now have this error message at startup.  Does that mean exactly?

  When I go into the BIOS, information on the system is xxxxxxx.  When I go to HP technical support.  The product name, serial number and product number is yyyyyyyy.  I know it's fake, why?

  OK I won't tell you who, but you already know this is bad and you need to call HP. There is a special piece of software used for 'tattoo' Board of Directors. I have seen a few cases where they just give you a link to download and instructions on how make the 'tattoo '.

• 3160us dv7 - Corel is not installed after reformatting

  Hi gang,.

  I recently had to send my laptop for hp because of a battery problem.  Not wanting to send my private files, I copied the and did a reformat using the recovery system.  Everything seemed fine until I went to edit a photo using Corel paintshop, and it was not found.  I started thinking that maybe I had just installed another program of painting such as GIMP, but while they were inspecting the record lists:

  Corel PaintShop Pro Photo X 2; Corel Video Studio X 2

  that are installed since the restoration.  Is it possible to install these disks I made when I bought the machine?  This isn't something like I saw in another post that suggested that advertising would not and programs are supposed to never be on this particular machine, these programs have been installed before when I bought the machine.

  You are not the first to complain about a problem similar to this one.  The recovery partition is set to restore the computer to factory settings.  This is a common configuration on all computers in a similar line and of course the 'Corel PaintShop Pro Photo X 2; Corel Video Studio X 2 "programs were extras or addons.  Search for the installation discs reinstall the programs.  It is probably necessary for keys activate once installed programs.  If records cannot be located, I suggest a call to customer support.  Have documentation of additional programs - such as the original receipt along with a list of what has been bought.

  When you hear "black screen at shutdown", you might think I'm trolling, but I'm not. What I'm talking about, it is that when I try to close my laptop, it actually not-.-it will freeze on a black screen while the laptop is still on (fan is still underway off the coast), the only way to close it in fact at this State is through hard reset (holding the power button).

  IDK nothing else to put here.

  Also, when I just leave this State (black screen), like 5 hours later, it will reboot itself it will appear and info message saying "PC has encountered an error blah blah blah, it was restarted to prevent something."

  Help please. I don't want to keep hard reset my phone, it's dangerous for his health.

  I couldn't find it on eBay. You can try HP Partsurfer but usually the price there is about the same as amazon.com.

  If I know that you were really interested, perhaps we can expand the search to find it at a lower price, but I expect it to be much less than maybe $175 it is a motherboard upscale a few years and get harder to find new.
