Envy dv7-7202tx black screen at shutdown (inside information)

When you hear "black screen at shutdown", you might think I'm trolling, but I'm not. What I'm talking about, it is that when I try to close my laptop, it actually not-.-it will freeze on a black screen while the laptop is still on (fan is still underway off the coast), the only way to close it in fact at this State is through hard reset (holding the power button).

Here is some info on my laptop:

-BIOS: Insyde F. 24 01/22/13

-OS: Version W8 6.2.9200 build 9200

IDK nothing else to put here.

Also, when I just leave this State (black screen), like 5 hours later, it will reboot itself it will appear and info message saying "PC has encountered an error blah blah blah, it was restarted to prevent something."

Help please. I don't want to keep hard reset my phone, it's dangerous for his health.

My thought is that it's either the Windows code is corrupted or is a hardware failure.  While I am not positive, I feel that it occurs when Internet Explorer is used.   System Restore is not enabled on this computer, so this isn't an option.  Can someone help me understand this means and how I could fix this?  I know that will later Windows version can solve it, but this isn't the answer I'm looking for.  Thank you

Attempt to initialize the network is not a 'possible', it is certain that your PC is doing exactly this depending on your BIOS settings. In addition, she tries the network initialization after already trying to start on an optical disc. The two attempts at device boot doesn't have, in all likelihood after having already failed the boot from the hard drive. There is no message to indicate than an attempt to boot to the hard drive, or he leaves the screen too fast to see you or you did not save it in your original post.

My advice on the diagnosis is based on the studied the real model of your PC, not generic advice for all Dell PC with Vista installed.

    1. Your computer has already finished POST (Power O n Self TEST) otherwise you wouldn't see any attempt to start at all.
    2. You've already provided specific error messages.
    3. I have already advised the best and most approriate diagnostics for your PC.
    4. Your PC will not start in any mode if it becomes a default 'hard', rather than the intermittent fault means your original message. Start in any mode, you can and make a backup as soon as possible.
    5. Unless these recent changes include adjustments to the BIOS settings, they are irrelevant, that he is a boot failure which can be caused by anything done under Vista.
    6. Removing the external devices is never a bad step of troubleshooting if you encounter problems. I doubt it will help in this instance, but it will not hurt to try, especially if they are peripheral bootable.
    7. Startup Repair will not solve a hardware problem (by far the most likley scenario).
    8. System Restore is not usable unless you can actually start to Vista and it's never going to treat problems of material.
    9. IMO, this is not a software issue. See also point 4.
    10. If you have a hard drive failure, it is not recommended to try to reinstall the operating system. First of all prove that the hard drive is OK as advised before trying to re-setup. In addition, if you can, back up your data before reinstalling the operating system. In all likelihood, that's what you have to do but for a hard drive replacement.

I repeat that a failing or failed hard drive is the most likely scenario. Other more distant possibilities include

    • A failed or failing disk controller (almost certainly on the motherboard)
    • Boot from the hard drive is disabled in the BIOS (highly unlikely if this anomaly is intermittent)
    • Some sort of weird for the failure of the BIOS
    • Option 3 mentioned in the previous post (unlikely unless your PC has been internally inspected/modified or subject to vibration displacement/hitting more/remove etc..)

    Hi there @golila

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that the display on your all-in-one is black at startup, and you tried to connect an external display. I'm happy to help you.

Now, I can certainly understand your frustration because of the circular nature of the problem. I would say that first of all concentrate on the main display. I realize, you've probably already tried this, but just in case where to navigate on this page:

HP and Compaq all-in-One and HP TouchSmart desktop PC - screen is blank after you start the computer

If you do not answer on the main screen, then you are pretty much left with a repair option, because you can't work without loading the drivers of the external USB adapter. • HP DV6 ENVY: Envy HP dv6 black screen that turned while WE

I am very grateful for HP, that my cell phone ran very smooth for about 3 years, a few months after Windows 8 is out, and Christmas was coming right here. But after these good times, something strange happened on my laptop exactly at the beginning of April (wow exactly to April Fools Day and Yes this laptop trying to DECEIVE me I think, lol)...

I'm used to update my computer so I could keep my computer running well as much as possible. The last update, I've done was updated my graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 4000. Unfortunately, there were errors in the update of the map, so I've manually updated, and it succeeded. Now the computer tells me to restart the PC, so I did.

Now, something strange happened, he went through the process of restarting my laptop, after HP logo with the circle to move below the logo appeared, and after a black screen came through my eyes. Generally, it should be just 10 seconds so that it appears on the screen of Windows 8 and the login for the account, but that's happened. The black screen was 5 minutes, 10 minutes, still, waited 15 minutes and even 30 minutes! I was wondering what happens after upgrading my graphics card.

If someone help me? Thank you!

    With legitimate answers correct?

    Oh yes my laptop specs:

    Intel Core i7 3630QM

    8 GB RAM

    Graphics Intel HD 4000

    NVIDIA Geforce 630 m 2 GB DDR3

    Resolution: 1920 X 1080

Max of about 900 GB disk space

    Hi @sab-ero ,.

Welcome to the HP support community! I hope you enjoy your experience with us.

I see that you get a black screen after the upgrade of your Intel graphics driver. If the screen remains black our troubleshooting options are limited. Try to do a Hard Reset to see if a clean reboot gets it going. Keys Num or CAPS LOCK flashes at all? If so, how many times? If you are connecting to an external monitor, are you able to see anything?

  • DV7-1210eo Black Screen with CPU and graphic Error Codes

I'm running out of ideas on how repair this laptop so I thought I would ask here. Like so many other people with these portable mine seemed to go right after my warranty expires. I went to power on one day and he presented that a directed graph code error with a black screen. Instead of trying to fix the original slide myself I thought it would be best to just replace it. After the new Board of Directors came and I reassembled it all has been great to work for a few days. I went to power on one morning and he presented the same graphics code error as before. I then reset and tried again, but this time that he gave me the CPU error instead, after 15 seconds or later he would begin to switch between error a CPU and graphics. I assumed that the jury who sent was defective, so I sent a replacement. Once the replacement card has been installed it would always give me the same errors, sometimes it would be the graphics and other CPU.

I was told the jury that I sent worked great and replacement has been tested before it was sent, it even came with the results of the tests to check. I tried to replace the CPU and memory with a work known and same notebook AC adapter, which does not seem to help.

If anyone has any idea as to what could be the problem I would be acknowledging the entry.

    Thank you

I want to just update to anyone who seems to have the same problems as me.

I finally had time to replace the CPU and specifications works fine now. It seems the controller memory on the old CPU came out and was causing memory to not be detected properly and causing graphic errors. Before you spend money on a new motherboard, you may want to consider the processor as the problem.

Now if only I can figure out how to keep it from cooking itself...

    Thanks for all the help,

  • HP Pav Dv7-1210ea black screen

    Well, hope all is ok...

I got a laptop HP Pav 1210ea DV7 to repair, but I think it's much bigger than something I could fix.

When I turn it on the lights and the fan made, then after 1 second literally the fan turns off all the lights remain on... screen is black nothing more nothing less.

I tried connecting an external hdmi monitor and nothing and goes the same for the vga connection.

Can someone please tell me what could be the problem and how much it would cost to get it fixed or temporary repair methods to get it operational

As I did abit of research this is a fault that dv range of laptops "die" and HP COULD repair a large if out of warranty it is no justification for this?

Thanks in advance for the help

Tried to boot with the HDD removed?

If no positive result, then the system board failed. Replace the system board is your only option in this case.

  • HP DV7 - 3164cl Black screen at startup

I have a HP laptop dv7 - 3164cl entertainment who has had problems for several months with closure. It's not often, so I have to press the power button. From the start, I leave starts in normal mode. It worked a few days previously, and now when I turn on the computer to start, I get only a screen empty. My light lights up (they do not Flash) but my screen just stays black. I tried a hard reboot... Remove the battery, holding down the power button down for 30 seconds, replace battery. I tried to hit the fn button 5, the fn button 8, esc. None of the above worked. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thank you!!

If heat / really noticeable noise for a while, you get it at a service tech for a few checks (probably for a cleaning of cooler-fan)

computers take damage from the heat over time and this damage don't dissipate

He can continue to work for a while, but will be worse later if this is the case

  • HP Envy 700-430QE: black screen after log on

My computer updated something and required a reboot.  Before rebooting, I had inadvertently downloaded Strong Signal.  After removing the signal strong, I rebooted my computer.  I had the logon screen and connected.  The screen went black without tiles, icons, start button or any Visual (QC) I used Ctrl-alt-del to access Task Manager.  In the Task Manager, I was able to access various programs, including my google browser.  However, I have no access to the start, a victory 8 tiles or office.

Someone at - it expeieced this ad, if any, what was the soluton.

I'll probably have to try a restore of the system however I was hoping there is a more simple/fast solution if this has happened to others.

    Hello

    You are welcome

Just to confirm, was the entry that you found Binkiland?

If that corrects, I would suggest AdwCleaner download from the following link to clear the files - save it in your downloads folder.

    https://toolslib.NET/downloads/finish/1/

A once downloaded, close all programs, open your download folder and double-click the application to run it (click Yes to any uac prompt).

    Click the scan button.

When the results are displayed, click the Clean button - when you are prompted to restart, click Ok.

  • SimplePass works no-ENVY HP dv7-7202tx Notebook

Hi - I have updated my PC Windows 8.1 times back and had no problem with simplepass initially. I then suddenly could not drag my finger and sign in.

I read through some of the conversations are realize others has had a problem too and saw some suggestions to resolve and follow up and was able to download an updated driver and it worked fine until last week when even once it has stopped working.

I am disappointed that HP has NOT solved which I think should have been done long back because people are complained about beginning of 2013 (or before).

I am at a loss to know what do it because, I depended on using this for a lot of my web sites etc. (keep my password in place course), but now I can't use my finger print recognition to make and need to type my master password every time.

I bought this computer for ease of managing my security but HP made me lose confidence in their products, given the battle I faced.

I'm worried about installing any software updated as indicates it a solution because I'm not sure it will solve the problem without deleting my files from data password etc.

The HP team can advise you and if possible contact me directly for this problem.

I chose to discuss this pubically because I think that HP is lying on I think it's a problem they have NOT delt with more proactive in reaching out to the loyal customers like me.

    Thank you

    Await your response

    Hi @noelhensman ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP ENVY dv7-7202tx

Laptop and having problems with the software HP SimplePass Identity Protection could not initialize correctly. I read all the patches in the post previous that you me bound. Thanks for all the information, it is very useful to know what you've already tried.

First thing I would check enable biometric support in this document.

If this does not help, I would say to uninstall HP SimplePass and reinstalled the latest version for Windows 8.1.

    Hope it suits it.

    Thank you.

  • ThinkServer RD630 black screen

    Hi all

I've been set a ThinkServer RD630 to present itself as a storage array. I was able to configure the RAID array, install Server R2 2012 and connect. However, I lived with DHCP issues. To try to solve this problem, I have checked the BIOS for all the 'hard' parameters and had not found any. After reboot, I was presented with a black screen with no other information. I tried to reset the BIOS, but to no avail (server never shows anything on the attached KVM). I also have basic troubleshooting and various other devices connected. It is clear that the USB ports are turned, but none of the devices are never activate which would indicate the server makes to the BIOS. Any thoughts?

FYI: Solved my problem. Resetting jumpers CMOS brought me back in place and running!

  • HP ENVY 15: WiDi on Windows 10 gives black screen.

Attempted to connect a TV to my desire to 15 through a Microsoft display adapter, but only get a black screen when connected.

Product envy num is L0L25PA #ABG.

Microsoft display adapter model is 1628 with new firmware from 1.3.8220.

    Intel (r) worm 6.0.40.0 WiDi.

The MS display adapter has the latest Miracast driver see 10.0.10240.16394 downloads of Microsoft.

The display adapter brings up a ready-to-connect "display in 1080 p with a black background.

Once connected, the laptop says it is "connected to the MS display adapter" and the TV goes black.

This dual-screen development. The TV becomes a kind of signal from the WiDi, but this isn't a "screen" as with no. signal the TV is blue. "

So I'm not sending ether does not correct data to the Member States display adapter or the adapter is not properly translated.

The adapter has accepted an update for it via the WiDi who ran ok. All the screen during the update wasn't on the portable TV.

Can do all the right things on the TV with an HDMI cable.

Is there a fix for this or I have to wait while the MS, Intel, HP sorting?

    Windows 10 is fully updated.

The MS display adapter was not winning in 8.1.

    DAY FOLLOWING.

Found an update of the driver Intel(r) HD Graphics 5500. The Intel verification app update does not pick up this one, I found it when checking the drivers in Device Manager.

I can now get a projection, but it's a bit and on everything when he wants to work. Once it starts, it is good, all that either with a slight flicker/stutters when the video display on the TV. Sometimes it takes a reset of the ILO and a new attempt so he could start as for the moment, to the extent where I wonder if there is a hardware problem BOUNCING temperature with Member States display adapter.

Having found a reset button on the adapter has helped.

    Another tomorrow.

I found that my problem is the TV I use for my screen, a cheap 32 in Vivo that works very well on an HDMI cable. It of very subject bar she receives MS card or not.

Everything is good when it goes, but you cannot change modes of projection etc without him dropping to and then once that happens it is very difficult to make it show again.

I found this when I could try a Samsung which worked perfectly. Can change the mode, connect and disconect as much as I like without any problem.

Thanks for the help HP forum,

I hope this will help others who have a similar problem.

How can I say that it is resolved?

Sorry SDF15, I give you a little nudge upwards or one solved as long as you did not help at all.

Even your suggestion to show how to mark your question as resolved does not apply in this case that you does not solve the problem.  I did and does the option solved on the original post. If I can do this response, I.

I've updated the BIOS and it seemed that nothing was happening then loaded windows. My antivirus has been turned off and need to restart the computer now its stuck on the black screen turned on again. Help, please!

    Hi @Jaxibrey,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked into your problem on your HP ENVY laptop and having starting problems.  Try to make a hard reset.

When you perform a hard reset note remove all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.

Here is a link to put the laptop in Safe Mode. Then you can do a System Restore. System Restore will help if something is automatically updated and wasn't on the laptop. You may need to consider a few days before that the issue that has happened.

Here is a link to computer does not start for Windows.

Plug the adapter directly into a different wall socket. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

Please let me know how it goes.

By clicking on the Thumbs Up below, you can say thank you! .

    Thank you.
