Inspiron 560 - DVD optical drive has stopped working.   Driver problem?   How can I download a replacement driver? Any help appreciated.

Hi Westy1,

All optical drives use the same generic Windows driver. Let me point out to my troubleshooting guide (link below) for some ideas on how to diagnose the problem.

  • What can I do this message-"Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working"

    Hello

My DVD drive used for good work... and then I installed iTunes.
He then worked for a while, but only by using "Run as Administrator".

After a few weeks I started getting the message "Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working".

I uninstalled iTunes - and uninstalled and then re-installed DVD player - but it still doesn't work!
    Any solution please?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Ms. Q_reeus

My solution is to remove a Toshiba DVD drive and install VLC player. You can get it for free.
It can play all video formats, and you don't need additional codecs.

  • Equium A210 - after that set BIOS to update the DVD player has stopped working

I tried the program fixme Microsoft who does not work, upper and lower register isn't here ether in regedit.
Someone at - it solutions for getting the DVD drive working again?

    Thank you

    Hello!

The CD/DVD drive is listed in Device Manager? You see an error code?
If the drive is listed in Device Manager, you should try to remove it, and then restart the laptop.

Try to load the default settings in the BIOS.

Have you tried to remove the upper and lower filters by yourself? Here is the solution from Microsoft:

  • DVD player has stopped working

I am running Vista Home Premium. My ATAPI DVD drive has stopped working. Device Manager shows it, drivers are updated, I tried Microsoft Fixit, nothing seems to work. I read about this problem, seems a lot of people have the same problem with no fix, what do I do?

I am betting its windows. So what is my options, buy windows 7. Maybe a different o/s. How many problems like mine have had to deal with?

Absolutely not... If the question is the disc or other material so you are stuck with a system
You can not install it on. And there may be serious flaws that are too expensive to repair.

Previously published several ways to use a variety of boot floppies to see if the driver will be
actually boot outside of Windows. If this isn't the case, then you have a more serious problem. If it isn't
startup then you should re - install Vista to be sure there is no other problems with the
disc before any thought of the upgrade.

I hope this helps and happy holidays!

  • DVD player has stopped writing DVD on my Satellite 5200 801

Quick question that I hope someone knows the answer to. My DVD player stopped earlier for DVD writing (several relocations of system have proved that it is the reader and not a pilot/conflict error) so I put the hand on another drive. Fitting was easy, however, it seems that there is something funny with the ide channel configuration in this laptop. The old drive was put on CSEL, however, the new drive is set as slave. because of this the HD or the DVD player are available.

Does anyone know how to pass to CSEL dvd players to make them work (I tried to put the jumpers on the hard drive to change between a master and a slave, but with no joy.)

    Thanks in advance

    Hi John,.

Normally, the readers of CD/DVD design slim are preset by the manufacturer, but it is apparently possible to change the setting, if you really want to. Please check the following post: -.

    Hello

If you didn t do a backup before deleting upper and lower filters that you can t restore it. This could be a bit difficult so, normally, you should always make a backup before you change or delete something in the Windows registry.

As Akuma writes, you can try the system restore. Maybe it will work

  • Satellite L500 - CD/DVD player has stopped playing CDs and DVDs

I was with Windows Media Player yesterday to copy music to my MP4 Player. It read 2 cd, but on the 3rd, it stopped working. I thought it was because it was a CD however, burned my CD store, I tried buying and everything and even DVD and it takes forever for the driver trying to read, and then in the my computer window, it pops up a message: "Please insert a disc into drive D" and ejects the CD or DVD.

I checked the properties and it says that the device is functioning properly.

I even ran the PC DIagnotistc tool on the D drive, but he jumps right over him.

Any ideas? My phone is only a month or 2 old.

Remove the optical drive from the list of Device Manager and restart your laptop.
After reboot, the device must be installed again.
Check the feature using different CD and DVD.

What model of laptop do you have exactly?

Sometimes when I press the eject button, that nothing is happening outside the orange light flashes and continues to blink. When this happens that I lose the drive in my computer and the only way to make it work again is to restart the laptop.

Usually, it works when I reboot then stops working, but it doesn't also sometimes from the restart.

    Someone at - it ideas.

    Hello!

Have you looked on the Toshiba site for an update of the firmware? Search on the Toshiba site for an update, maybe this will solve your problem.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

However, I think it could also be a hardware problem that your drive is defective. Then I'd go to a local ASP. A technician can check your laptop.

  • Driver for tsst ts-l632p DVD player has stopped working

Yesterday I tried to install office 2007, but after inserting the dvd into noticed that it lacked the d:\ icon. I went into Device Manager and I just found out that the "tsstcorp cddvdw ts-l632p ata device' is yellow, with this error:

Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
The BIOS is recognizing the material, and if I delete the entry in the Device Manager it reinstalls itself, so if I'm lucky is not a hardware failure, but a driver problem.

I have not tried to start the laptop with the included dvd disc, I'll try that to confirm whether this is a hardware or software problem. In the meantime, what can I do to fix this?
It's windows Vista edition premium, on the toshiba satellite L305-s5885. I don't want to reinstall vista just for that. Is there a way I can download a new driver and try again?

  • After using the EPSON WF-3520 installation CD, the DVD on my Vista PC player has stopped working.

I use a three-year-old Toshiba Satellite A355.  The Eastern question is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50F Up at this time yesterday, it had been working flawlessly.  Now, it only makes clicking sound, but does not open.  Device Manager says "this device is functioning."  No, it isn't!  EPSON help guys said that they had had some problems with the contractor providing the installation disc, but no one else had complained that the DVD player has stopped working.  I want to just get it repaired.

  • CD/DVD drive has stopped being recognized by Satellite A100 - 01 G

I have a Satellite A100 - 01 G, but the CD/DVD drive has stopped being recognized by the machine.
I have full Vista like the o/s.

    Help, please
    Thank you

    Hello

Have you checked in the Device Manager if the CD/DVD player display correctly?
    Please check this!

As a follow-up, I would recommend removing the reader of CD/DVD of the crèche of the device a restarting the laptop.
The Windows operating system should recognize the new device (ODD) and should load the drivers again.

Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    and reboot.
