DVD plays not

WIN XP Home SP3 - not quite fully patched/updated.

I did a clean install over the weekend, and the installed media player was v9.

I've updated to 11.0.5721.5145.  When I try to play a DVD, I said that I need a DVD decoder.  I don't remember ever doing that before with 9 or 10.  This is something new, or have I missed something that should be installed on my drive GPU?  Or perhaps a dll of the Nvidia driver.

If my memory is good, I think remember earlier, something about a dll called PC Friendly, which was a form of control on users/DVD players, movies etc.

But before we get into this PC F, I was just wondering if there may be a box etc. I unchecked somewhere in my new system.  I took screenshots of pretty much all of the settings on the computer until I did the XP installation.

Hello Alexander

Thank you for your reply - I'll look into your links etc and get today come back later - I'm the other side of the "little pond" [UK]

However I don't know why this latest version should behave like that.  I got 9 but updated to 10, not so long ago.  I checked the edits and there is not, but it's V 11.0.5721.5145?

I remember not dll decoders etc - certainly do not buy anything for 9 or 10.

If I can come back at 10 I.  At the momet I tried other video formats and they work - wmv, quicktime, mpeg, etc. - it's just the DVD movies, the origin of the problem.  I also pointed out that on the back of some DVD - didn't look like not at all yet - there is a very small reference to technical support, and it's PC Friendly.com - now that's a coincidence - I thought it was familiar.

My laptop has 11.0.5721.5280, and who plays what I got.  I'll see if I can find one of these codecs/decoders in there.

I have a yellow! in the [Universal] for entry - nVidia WDM Video Capture Device Manager.  Properties displays a driver but the State cannot start Code 10 - troubleshooting does not work, but have not yet try my GPU drive.  But this may have nothing to do with this case.

I won't be able to get back here for a few hours

Windows XP does not include a DVD decoder. When you
first bought your system there was probably a decoder
included in your package of OEM software.

The following link might be worth a visit:

Info about DVD decoders: Plug-ins for Windows Media Player

Or you can try one of the following freeware media players:

As fior the Nvidia issue... There is a possibility that you need
update your video driver. Visit the Nvidia support

  • A very strange problem with DVD player (some DVD play not)

    Hello everyone.

I bought a laptop Dell Inspiron 3543 2 months ago. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product, but I have a problem with the DVD player. When I insert some DVD discs, the driver reads some DVDs but not others. After trying to play DVDs, I see that the DVD player play about half of the DVD I'm looking for. Although I can guarantee, I didn't send my laptop to the service because I can't work even a day without my cell phone. So, in order to solve the problem, I bought a DVD player new, original Dell (the same model of dvd player, which is Panasonic Matshita DVD +-RW UJ8E2). Today I started using my new DVD player, but it also has the same problem as my old DVD drive or it also does not play some DVD.

To make the issue even more strange, here are some details:

-My dvd drives have no problem and I have tried many original DVDs (especially the original films). And all the dvd disks that do not play on my computer play on other computers with no problems. There is no problem with the disks.

-Certainly no problem with the "DVD region Code". I use original DVDs with region code 2, which is the area code for my country.

-All my drivers, the operating system and the dvd drive drivers are up to date. When I look at my DVD drive properties, it is written that "the dvd drive works properly.

-When I insert a DVD disc, if my DVD player he plays, he plays each time. But if my dvd player does not play a dvd, and then he never plays it. So, there is a consistency in the dvd disc set to play or not. When a DVD disc does not play, my DVD player rolls the drive some time and then the DVD done pretending as if there is no disc in the drive.

-Both my old and newly purchased DVD drives have exactly the same problem, so I think that there's no problem like a lens dirty. I also think that there is no mechanical problem with one of my DVD drives because my newly purchased, original DVD player also has the same problem.

I thank everyone for any help or advice in advance.

Today, I received my dvd player third, new, Chinese, not original from a seller of spare part. He plays all DVDs with no problems. :)

If in the future someone always has the same problem as me and read this Web page to find a solution, you know where is the problem.

  • HP TouchSmart DVD plays not new Blu - Ray

    Computer: HP Pavilion e9250t

OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I'm playing a Blu - ray (Dexter season 6) most recent title thanks to the program "HP TouchSmart DVD", and it does not work. He asks me if I want to check for an update of the software when I try to read the disc. In the past when this has happened, the update allowed me to read the disc, but I seem to already have the latest version of the software (4.1.5122). He can't find the updates, and I found no updates through manual searches on the internet.

I can still play other Blu - ray discs. Scott Pilgrim just jumped in, and it worked fine.

Y at - it a newer version of the software out there? Or do I have to wait longer for an update? I guess the other possibility is that the drive is faulty, but based on my story with this question, I would say that the obsolete software is a more likely cause.

Does anyone have information on this? Anyone with similar problems? Thank you.

  • Help! DVD plays not

    Hello

I looked around and could not find my question.

I imported a sequence of first 5.5 worms again through dynamic links

I had some project settings for

    fashion design - dvd

    standard telivision - ntsc

    transcoding settings - ncodec MPEG-2

I tested the DVD on my Dell i7 processor, 12 GB of ram

and it worked fine I gave click to print directly on DVD and burn several hundred copies

I just got them and when I insert it into my Dell Insiron 6400 laptop (about 4 years) message is: virgins dvd you want to burn files.

In short, he won't play, but visually it seems as if she is burned

    What I did wrong.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    > I tested the DVD on my Dell

Business DVD players how did you use for testing?

If you have tested only on the computer that you used to create the disc... you come to know this isn't a good test

    Also...

Create an ISO (yet), or a folder on your hard drive (still or Premiere Elements), then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO on DVD or BluRay drive (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)

    .

ImgBurn will read the mark of REAL from the disk drive, which isn't always the same as the label for the box (Memorex is known for 'nothing' buy and put inside a box of Memorex)

    .

When you write on the disk with Imgburn, use the slowest possible speed adjustment, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well trained" laser drill holes... Since no DVD drive is required to read a burned disc, have a 'good' after a try to white high quality will help

    .

Use Taiyo Yuden simple layer or layer two Verbatim

Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printable two layer

  • Some DVDs will not play on my laptop satellite

I was redirected here from this forum: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Drivers-and-Utilities/tsstcorp-cddvdw-su-208bb-failing-to-recognize-dvd/td-p/463603

I can't read some DVD (which will play on other computers) but some DVD will not work.

As per link above the pilot is tsstcorp cddvdw su-208bb. Tried uninstalling the drive and reboot but no effect.
I don't know my exact model. It's just a Satellite, and this is the only information I can find.

It is not easy to say what may be wrong with that. Try to clean the lens and check it once more.

  • Satellite 1400 DVD will not play DVD

    Hello

After cleaning the notebook of the cousin of my fiancee, who had a number of viruses, the DVD player will play is no longer the DVD (it will play data CD, however, can read data DVD as well, but I don't have any of those). When I put a movie disc, it will try and try to read it, and in the end, he gave up. If I click on the drive again, it asks me to put it on a disc.

I tried all sorts of things to fix. The DVD-Rom is a Hitachi GDR-8081n. I uninstalled and let Windows detect it again, I uninstalled the secondary IDE channel is on, to ensure implementation in DMA mode (it was in PIO), no effect. I loaded the latest version of WinDVD, no luck. I uninstalled WinDVD and installed PowerDVD, no effect. I manually deleted cdrom.sys and had put Windows back, without result. I found an update of the firmware somewhere, but unfortunately it simply does not work (it calls for the CD/DVD is not actually present).

Someone had a similar problem and figured out what to do? Search online for those who have had similar problems with other DVDs, the usual assumption is that it is a hardware failure. It is quite possible that this is the case, I guess, but it would really be a coincidence for making it happen the same day wherever I tried to wipe the drive, so I am doubtful.

Any assistance that may be provided is much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Elio,

From your description of the problem, I think that your DVD player has a problem with the laser. IN a combi laser scanner uses two different frequencies, one for CD and one for DVD.

I suspect that the frequency of DVD is not working properly. The fact that the player to repeatedly try to read a DVD when you insert one indicates to me that the software works correctly, but the laser is not able to focus properly on the DVD.

Unfortunately, your only real option is to consult an authorized Service Agent or replace the drive yourself if it is the least expensive option.

    Best wishes

  • Re: Satellite Pro L450 - 13P - CD / DVD does not auto play

    Hello

Recently, I've provided a customer with a new Satellite Pro L450 - 13P (Windows 7 Professional). He came back to me the a few days saying it was a great laptop but CD / DVD will not auto play. I googled this problem and I tried all kinds of solutions suggested, including the various changes of registry, uninstall and reinstall the device DVD driver, unchecking and rechecking always use AutoPlay box everything has failed.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 (Vista) and thought I would try to insert an automatic game disc in my drive. To my astonishment, my laptop had developed the same problem, it used to auto play, but now it doesn't.

Any assistance people can give me in this matter is accepted with gratitude.

    Thank you very much
    Mark

    Hi Mark

As far as I know autoplay can be set to Autoplay settings (Control Panel).
There you can define what should happen when you insert each type of media or device.
For example, I have all the options set to ask me every time.
Have you tried to change these settings?

Have you tested with different media?

If you have noticed that mean the same thing on your laptop computer you have tested with the same support as your client?

  • Pavilion Desktop PC p7-1414: DVD will not play video

All of a sudden my DVD will not play on my computer.  DVD will play the data but not video.  Check Device Manager, which States that the device is functioning properly.  Insert other discs that have always played, but now they are not. Videos will play, however, on television.  No new hardware installed to cause a conflict. Checking for updates for the driver, but there are no new updates/drivers to install.

My second problem is I think I lost my magic canvas and I want it back!   so, how do I get it back?

my computer is model: 320-1030 hp. TouchSmart.

    Hello screamgueen:

Normally I do not answer on this forum because that HP tollaly messed up everything on their Web sites. Your computer may not always play Blue Ray Disc unless you purchased a driver Blue Ray Optipical a surcharge. As you've found Hp has a set very limmited cd / dvd codes there. An option for the last time I check update update cost $87,00 codes. For the link to update in excess open HP Media Player click Refresh. You'll see what I mean that it is an update that you must buy if you want the update. Second option is to just buy an external cd / dvd player witch is cheeper then updating all together. Not only that when you get back you don't have to buy the update again. When you perform a restore, you lose your update.

Now Software Web for you.  Open Manager HP recovery and software selection and drivers until it clicks. Opens a list go to the bottom of the list and click on canvas magic hp HP Touchsmart 4. HP Touchsmart 4 is already in HP Touchsmart desktop computer.  I don't know how the model of your computer listed there. If you need to load it on the HP website. I will then have the rest of the information on your computer. HP Touchsmart - 320? ??? As it is a wealth of sample are: Hp Touchsmart 600-1050 windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and my lap top is HP Pavilion DV7t - 7000cto Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.  Thank you frrw

  • Why my self playing dvd will not be recorded dvd?

I have a saved auto dvd that won't play on windows media player despite me download a shedding of different codecs. I don't know what the record was made in format, it comes from a canon camera recorded to a dvd player/burner. My computer is HP pavilion and it sees the drive as white, any ideas anyone please.

I have experienced and recorded the dvd, as well, the DVD - RW and DVD + R with two freewares and I'm able to play an exceptional video on my computer or DVD player.  Two freewares are available on internet and their software can be downloaded and run your browser on a computer.  The two programs are DVDVideoSoft's "Free Disk Burner" and the other "Convert Video" by X2XSoft.  I use video conversion to convert my video the Audio_TS and Video_TS files and output them both in a directory on your hard drive.  C:/DVDdirectory/Audio_TS and Video_TS/DVDdirectory/C: use of software Free Burner of disc to burn both files on the DVD.  The files to burn must be considered in the as free disc burner: Audio_TS Video_TS, otherwise your DVD will not play on anything!

Free disc burner "finalize" the DVD for you.  The Audio_TS is to render the sounds.  The Video_TS is the image.  Do not be misled by the Audio_TS bend not containing or not list all files!  Your good and ready to burn.

A pointer, however.  You will find your best record burning SPEED on "more SLOW!  You may be using a DVD that can be recorded at 40 x or 48 x or 16 x, or some fast deal, but always choose 4 x or slower.  I check in at 2.4 x and get better results than the faster speeds.  You paid for the DVD, do what you want to do.  Hope you can understand this and happy saving!
