DWM.exe crash at startup.

I recently installed Windows 7 and all of a sudden, I get a DWM.exe error starts every time I log on to Windows 7. No virsusses on my PC either. Now I can't use all the customization options for the office. ... of transparency does even more. Already tried to settle in Windows 7, but that has not worked...

Hello

What is the exact error message?
All device drivers have been updated?

DWM.exe is the Desktop Window Manager.
It's a windows process that must be started for the aero and other features to run on windows 7.
DWM is giving you all these pretty effects in Windows Vista or windows 7 Transparent windows, live taskbar thumbnails and even the selector Flip3D you can deactivate and replace with Switcher.

I suggest you see if Desktop Service Manager is running.
To do this:
1. click on start
2. type 'services' in the search box of start.
3. now check the status of the "Desktop Service Manager".

You can also try to update the graphics drivers and see if it makes a difference. You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.

1. open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. in Device Manager, locate the graphics card and then double-click the device name.
3. click Driver tab, then click on set to update driver and follow the instructions.
Now, try to follow the link provided to update a hardware driver that is not working properly and check the question below.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

I also suggest that you update the BIOS to the latest version and check.

  • HP ENVY x 360-m6-w103dx: AccelerometerSt.exe crash at startup

Bought this new laptop for Windows 10 a week ago. Windows did a few updates a few days previously, and now whenever I boot, I get an error message saying that the application failed to start properly. (0xc000007b)

After finding others on this issue, I learned that it's the HP 3D DriveGuard program.  I completely uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled sp71708.exe as recommended HERE.  Who has not solved the problem and the error message is displayed every time that the laptop starts.

    Hello:

You have an unknown device in Device Manager with a hardware ID of 6007 ACPI?

If this isn't the case, then has the problem itself and the 3D driveguard system works.

If you do not see an unknown device with a hardware ID of ACPI 6007, this means that the 3D driveguard device does not, because the driver is not installed.

Disadvantage of this... If accidentally fall or knock your laptop, the hard drive heads will not be parked by the accelerometer, and most likely the hard drive can be destroyed and must be replaced.

IMO, if you drop your laptop computer, 3D driveguard probably won't help anyway, unless you dropped less than 2 feet from the ground.  That would be environ.75 of a meter on the metric system.

  • Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 crashes at startup (Photoshop.exe)

After update today with CC 2015, I get the above message whenever I try to launch Photoshop.  I tried a number of suggestions, but nothing seems to work.  I also called support and they told me they would call me back within 30 minutes.  That's more than an hour there.  I just tried to call back, and no one answered.  The website says they are open until 19: 00 PST, which is still an hour away.  Support sorry and an unresolved issue.  It seems that Adobe is looking for ways to make their customers to leave.

Anyway, does anyone have a solution to this problem of Photoshop?

  • Firefox not working in Win7 now it crashes at startup even after a clean install. is there a problem with Symantec?

Firefox worked on my Windows 7 desktop. One day he gave me a report of crash at startup, I went through the troubleshooting procedures suggested. I tried restarting, upgrade, uninstalled and reinstalled, uninstalled and cleaned the files and the registry and deleted the files module then resettled but nothing works. It keeps giving a crash report on startup. I remember that my Symantec software gave a message that FireFox has been stopped due to an attack on my system. Ever since then, it won't work and I can't seem to cross the screen to crash at startup of FireFox.

Thank you for the report crash IDs. If you open the error reports and click on the 'Modules' tab, you will see that the first on the list in each case is "FLVSrvLib.dll". This module installs with various programs of Applian Technologies including Freecorder and Replay Media Catcher.

This crash is closely related to have BOTH software Applian software of security AND Norton. As no doubt you don't want spend away from Norton, you can remove or disable the Applian software as follows:

    (1) uninstall and restart

If you have either of these programs and it is not essential, try to uninstall it then restart Windows to ensure that none of its components are running.

Firefox will start normally after that?

    (2) avoid auto-start

If you do not uninstall the program, a few others said using the msconfig program to stop execution at startup FlvSrvc.exe circumvented the problem.

    See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-system-configuration

You may still need to restart to unload the software of your current Windows session.

    Success?

  • 7.2 Skype crashes at startup

I know this topic has already been here. And believe me, I've tried with serveal things and none of them worked. I don't really know what else I can try to do.

The story is, that Skype has worked very well for me (next to rare accidents, nothing to worry about). then all of a sudden that it crashed, every time I picked up a call (or called someone). The writing was no problem and since it's essential I usw Skype for, I had no real problem with that. But after a while, I wanted that it works correctly. So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my Skype and since then it crashes at startup. I use the normal SkypeSetup.exe I downloaded from the main site. I also tried older versions, nothing works. I tried to delete the settings in Skype and to my surprise, Skype starts after that. Unfortunately, it crashes as soon as I connect.

Please help me, I really have no idea what could be wrong with my PC (or Skype).

    Skype-Version: 7.2

    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

    additional notes:

I read that IE needs to work, and that's fine.

I also ran the dxdiag program and attach the file to this message.

    DxDiag crashed into Direct3D:

DxDiag previously : Crashed to Direct3D (step 3). Re-run DxDiag with the command line parameter 'dontskip' or choose not to ignore the gathering information when prompted may result in DxDiag obtaining this information

Skype does not work with default Direct3D.

Steve Winograd's right - no executables are normally launched from the Temp folder where you specify unless the malware put them there.

Your system is currently or has been infected and perhaps your detection/removal software clean the folder Temp of the suspicious content but this process does not always boot entry that points to the location/suspicious file, so that each reboot (or login), he wants to run it.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..

It is easy to get rid of the error message by doing something like disable the startup item in msconfig (if you can still find), but I suggest you fix the problem and difficulty not only the symptom of the problem simply remove the startup message.

I would recommend also you start to search in the register, unless you have a backup because there is no 'Cancel' or 'quit without saving changes' option in regedit.  If you make a mistake, that's all.
These ideas relieve 'rapid' and sometimes risky of the symptom, but may not actually solve the problem.  Also, I'd be suspicious of ideas that begin with the words "try."  You don't need to try things, you need to fix things.
Here are the detailed instructions that protect you and solve your problem in the 'right' way.
Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira
!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..
A "Cannot find...". ', ' Failed to start..., "Could not load..." ». "Might not work... "" Cannot run ""error loading... ". "or"specific module could not be found"message at startup is usually related to the malware that has been configured to run at startup, but the referenced file has been removed after a malware scan, leaving behind him a startup item or the registry entry pointing to a file that does not exist.
It might be a removal of malicious software or an application not installed.  The entry may have a curious looking name since it was probably generated at random when the malware was installed. If you search your system for the referenced file, you may not find.
Windows attempts to load this file but cannot locate because the file has been deleted for most probably during an analysis of the malware. However, an orphaned associate of remainders of startup parameter or registry entry and tells Windows to load the file when you start or connection.
So you should delete the referenced entry Windows stop trying to load or run the file. It may or may not be included in the registry, but you can find it.  Autoruns (see below) you get the elements no matter where it is.
If you just locate and uncheck the item in msconfig, which disables the element but does not remove the reference to the element of false starting your computer.   The msconfig program is not a Startup Manager, that's a troubleshooting tool.  Disabling things in msconfig to put an end to the messages and think that your problem is solved is short-sighted and leave behind him a sloppy XP configuration.  Just disable the display of a start-up error message should not count as a 'solution' to the problem.
If you are comfortable editing the registry, you can find and remove the reference directly from there or remove it using a popular third-party tool called Autoruns.  The problem can always be found in the registry well.
Before making any changes to your registry by hand or with third-party tools, don't forget to first make a backup of the registry. There is no cancellation or exit without saving the option in regedit.
Here is a link to a popular registry backup tool:
You can use Autoruns to find the element of start remains little matter where he's hiding.  Autoruns does not install anything on your computer.  It will display all startup locations where the reference may be then you can turn it off or remove it completely.  Here is the download link for Autoruns:
Run Autoruns.exe and wait that he at the end of the filling of the list of entries.
When the Autoruns is finished scanning your system, it will say "Ready" in the lower left corner.  Autoruns can be a little intimidating to first if you have never seen it before because it displays a lot of information.  You are really interested only a few sections.
The problem is usually to start the system or the user startup entries, then click the connection tab and see if the startup item is there.
Scroll through the list and look for a boot entry associated files in the error message.
If you can't find on the connection tab, look in any tab.
You can also click file, search to search for logon, or any tab for all or part of the name of the element.
Right-click on the offending entry and choose Remove
.  If you are not sure what it is, you can simply disable, restart and if the problem is resolved and then remove the offending entry.  If you don't see it in Autoruns, you may edit the registry and remove the item from your startup folder it.  Autoruns shall display the same information however.
Given that you had or have an infection, followed with this:
Perform scans for malware, and then fix any problems:
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
Restart your computer and solve the outstanding issues.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

No simple AV tool and not every doesn't know everything you need to use more than one scanning program in your arsenal of AV.

In the perfect world, do some exectutables launch of the Documents and Settings folder.

It seems that despite your Panda AV, your system is always somehow afflicted.

Sometimes even the 'best' AV tools are unable to clean up the mess of certain conditions or they can't tell if what they discover is a true infection or something you did on purpose so they will leave him alone, and then do you a little housekeeping cleaning by hand.

  • C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\dwm.exe

I get the above message block when I start my computer. I run Ad-Aware, Malware bytes and StopZilla with no luck. He won't let me connect to the internet. Any ideas on what I can do? My wife needs this computer for school work and I need mine to be deployed. Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Normally indicates that you have or have had a virus. Usually programs do not run in the temp folder.

You can try an online virus scanner to check the virus first. For example:

    ESET: http://www.eset.com/online-scanner

    TrendMicro: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Once you are sure that you do not have a virus, you can download and run "Autoruns" from Sysinternals http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

Download the program, unzip it and run it. After accepting the EULA, it will take time to discover all of your startup items. Go to the bottom of the list and uncheck the item "setings\temp\dwm.exe c:\documents and Settings owner". Autoruns to shut down and restart the PC to see if the error is still in place.

You can find information on using Autoruns to the same address as above.

You will need to let us know if this sorts your internet problem.

  • Windows 7 Fallout 3 crash on startup, I tried patch, fix xlive.dll, ffdshow does nothing

My laptop should be a system good enough to run Fallout 3.
    Windows 7
    Core i3
    4 x 32/64 GB ram
    smartaudio cocoa 2
    Intel hd graphics card

I downloaded the patch on the site of Fallout, then got error xlive.dll, downloaded the patch to correct that, following the crash at startup, sought ffdshow could not find, when I found it in the registry allowing or disable it has nothing to do with the port of gameplay or fallout, read also this is another solution that does not work - particularly for windows users 7.  Tried running Vista and XP, I'm set to run everything as admin, none of this works _.  I bought this game in detail, since when a game doesn't?  AND when I paid full price for it?  It's stupid _.  Is it the graphics card - I do not think?  Please help, I don't play much games, was really looking forward to try this one.  But I guess that things are not only made the way they used to... to work.

    Hi litleredpoetess

I suggest you to check with the manufacturer about compatibility with Windows 7.

You can even check the compatibility of the link below: Windows Compatibility Center: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Try to install the configuration file in Windows Vista or in XP compatibility mode. Steps to follow:

    i. right click on the game (on the .exe file)

    II. click on properties

III. click on the Compatibility tab

IV. Select run this program in compatibility mode and select windows vista

Link for reference below: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

If the program or the software is not compatible with windows 7 and if you are not able to run the software in compatibility mode then you should contact the manufacturer of the software or program, as there is no upgrade or patch for Windows 7.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • Why do I get error of dwm.exe?

    Original title: dwm.exe error

I get an error dmw.exe does not. I went to msconfig and services have stopped and I can't start them. I've also done SFC/scannow, and he did not finish from 16 percent. I also made selective startup and it does not fix it. Now, I'm stuck with the computer not responding not to chkdsk/r, it is stuck on 4 of the 5 and the computer won't past and restart it back to the same screen for chkdsk.

    Hello

I need some clarification on the question to solve it.

    1. When did you get this error?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

The dvm.exe file is the Microsoft Windows Desktop Windows Manager and is a valid Windows file that must be running on your computer. He is responsible for the graphic effects such as transparency or the glass eye, the alt tab windows switcher Flip3D and manages the rendering of each window to display on your computer.

Can someone help me to look into this?
    Thank you
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,.

Remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

Possible cause would be due to out-of-date video drivers, corrupted system files, viruses or malware, faulty RAM, infection etc..

I suggest you follow these methods and check:

    Method 1: Run the hotfix:
Windows Explorer crashes randomly in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2638018/en-us

Method 2: Follow the suggestions in this article:
    Explorer Windows stopped working

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2694911/en-us

Virus scan: while the Virus scan, data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.

Clean boot: after a repair, be sure to put the computer to a normal startup mode.

Update on site: note this upgrade on the spot takes the same amount of time to do the upgrade as to reinstall the operating system. In addition, some of your custom Windows settings may be lost through this process.

Follow the steps and let us know if this helps.  If the problem persists, please answer and we will be happy to help you.

The cleaning tool Adobe CC didn't throw any errors, but a caveat:

Unfortunately, none of these things worked, still get the same error.

Interesting detail: the error message twice.

    Can someone help me please?

After hours, I finally found a solution:

Repair the existing installation of "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 updated 4"

    See post:
