  Just recently my iCloud, Gmail and Outlook IMAP accounts does not connect through the app Apple Mail on my MacBook Pro running 10.11.6. I get a popup error message and exclamation points appear next to each account that States the unable to connect to the server application. IPhone & iPad with the same accounts are fine, just my Macbook Pro has this problem. Connection Internet is fine. Suggestions?

  Recently downloaded and installed Win8, no obvious problems so far.

  I have several devices, iOS, Mac OS and PC, any connection to two different e-mail accounts. I recently started each of them using IMAP, rather POP, to collect mail from servers.

  There is a certain older e-mail that my mail clients have collected over the years as accounts pop. Some of these emails are no longer on the server, so the new IMAP accounts on email clients show them.

  So when I did the new IMAP account on my mac, I let the POP accounts in place, rather than remove them. I don't want to 'turn off' old POP accounts, because I could always not wanting to search emails stored there, but I don't want to continue the collection of mail from my servers.

  How can I keep the old POP accounts in my list of accounts on the left side of my Mail app, but put to retrieve any new mail the mail server?

  Move mail POP in "on your Mac" by creating new mailboxes and drag and drop. Now, they will be on your computer HD

  -with the help of a Setup from another existing SMTP account (no control in the Mail account setup dialog box)

  So I ask myself, what this warning is really all.

  Watch dialog box seems to occur only if:

  • There is an e-mail account, SMTP outgoing self-signed certificate
  • The new e-mail account uses the only existing outgoing SMTP Protocol

  This could be a default in Thunderbird 31.7.0, because there is only one such warning dialog to the configuration of the e-mail account that is used for reporting several different problems.   Assuming that your "mail"account is with Hotmail there is a better forum to ask for help on this subject.   In addition, 'characters' are called bosses CAPTCHA, so another way to get specific help would be to do a search on the web...
