  I currently have my verizon email account installed perfectly to microsoft outlook.  However, I can't send messages to my godaddy account through outlook.  I have changed ports, ssl requirements, and get an error message or a request reiterated by microsoft to enter my username and password.  I called godaddy without result.   If you reinstalled Vista without saving your messages, they are gone, unless you have kept a copy of messages on the server. If it is a POP3 account, you must have done this choice. If it is an IMAP account, messages must be on the server.

  Call your service provider. User name and password have been identified and given by them. They have records.

  Try going to tools | Options in OE and set it as default value for it.  Also in Internet Explorer go to tools | Internet Options | Programs and set as default OE it as well, or click the reset web settings button, if it is present.

  You can download, install, and configure Windows Live Mail again or use Windows Mail, which is the default email program in Vista.

  How to set up Windows Mail.

  Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider); They provide your broadband / dial connection.

  Ask them to:

  1. your username with them

  2. your password with them.

  3 incoming mail POP3 server.

  4. the outgoing mail SMTP server

  All the settings that you need to come from them, not Microsoft; and they are usually happy to help you set up your e-mail program.

  It is relatively simple as you use and that you want to use WLM.

  You will need to copy a folder from where it is (the old installation) to another place where you know it will be (for example on your desktop)

  The folder is c:\users\your user name\app data (if it is not there, see the note below) \local\microsoft\

  At that point you will see a folder named oddly enough "windows live mail" copy on your desktop

  If you don't see the app data because it is invisible atm.  To make it visible, you need to go to your control panel > folder options > view > change to hidden folders (see figure)

  

  Once you have mail backed up on your desktop (or where ever) drag the folder from the desktop to the location for the new WLM (once again we C;-... just like above).  Just make sure that WLM does not run in time.  What wont be imported, it of passwords and rules.

  Accounts and data should now be in the new WLM when you open it.
