  • How determine if a Windows Live team, send "Account Alert" is real or spam?

In the (not so distant) past, I received (and completely) ignored mail, I was unable to discern really came from the Windows Live team.  They claim that they are overcrowded and eliminate people have hotmail email accounts and I was among the elect.  I'm afraid that this may be spam comes from (1) the past, similar e-mail unanswered, I received I did not had any effect on my account remains open and active and (2) if they are in fact compensation on free accounts, why then contain a list of very personal information to be completed and returned to them?  Can someone please help, because I don't want my account to be closed?  Others receive similar emails?  Any insight and answers are greatly appreciated.
