  I have a Sansa e270, for some time I started to have problems with and it got bigger and bigger, until it reached when I start it it gives me just the welcome message and it freeze in the menu tart for a second giving a message (update of databas) and restaret Cesti and now I cannot connect to the computer. and here's the sequence of problems:

  1 - some songs cannot be deleted
  2-strange files appeard on the hard drive to mp4 when connected to the computer
  3 - I tried to delete all the files, but who killed the MP4 Player some how because I have wasnot able to play any song after this, but at least the system is running
  4 - some how now it keeps restarting itself whenever I press the button

  Hello, I am a former owner of an e280R and the current owner of an e270 and view. The e270 works much better than the view, but is currently a few issues that I can't seem to have difficulty. First of all, he can't fomat. I am trying to manually remove music files, but some of them have within them, files that cannot be deleted for a reason, and they are not system files.   Now I TAPED! with a lot of work, I founded the whole thing to do as a new... I just make a simple guide, I think it can be useful for many people, if they do not know LINUX.

  If the rom is corrupt or you did something wrong whith the flashing rom.

  you have to use LINUX, I use UBUNTU 8.10 Intrepid, if you are a windows user, you can download it.

  Here I give you a few options, the last one is to download the CD, but you can visit the Web site and select a download location.

  Remove disk 16 MB of your computer, wait for the confirmation to take it apart and disconnect the Sansa.

  put the button of BLOCKING (LOCK) in the unlock position, turn off the SANSA pressed the button to power 20 seconds if necessary, turn it on and it will report formatting the SANSa as a new one, erasing everything in it and you will be able to use it as the first time.

  NOTE: I tried everything first without the sansa.fmt to save all files inside, but he ran like before with the problem, and then I had to format.

• E270 freeze randomly

  I think I posted this in the wrong forum before, so sorry for the double post:

  I have an e270 I used for a month or two. Last night, it ran out of battery while I was playing it. This morning, I plugged into the car charger and tried to play music. He started, but it started to freeze at random times (in the main menu, the navigation through the artists or even during playback). Once it freezes, the only way to recover is a hard stop (hold button power for 10 seconds). Now, it happens every time I use it, in a minute or two to start. I tried to connect to my PC, I've done in the past with no problems. It connects and I see the file structure in Windows Explorer, but still, it freezes in a minute or two. It doesn't matter what directory I try to go to, it work for a few moments then completely freeze. Can I do to solve this problem? Thank you.

  If you have a v2 it'll be a Format option in the SETTINGS menu. If this isn't the case, then Windows can do. To connect in MSC mode, right click on your drive icon and select format...

  Make sure it is set to formatting in FAT32 system and do not select "quick format".

• R.I.P. E270? -Headphone Jack short

  Hi all

  My e270 has a short circuit in the headphone jack and the left channel is missing, unless I have move the plug.  I called Sandisk support to see if I could get it fixed, and what it might cost, but they don't fix them and recommend either to repair shops.

  I removed the back of the player and the four live few who appear to hold the inside of the front plate, but it seems to be something more now the whole player.  Do it just out of curiosity, because I am sure that I couldn't fix it anyway.

  Any suggestions on what kind of shops might be able to do this kind of repair?

  I think I'll try to install Rockbox - I can't screw it up more than it does already.

  I was happy with the player and would probably replace it with an another Sandisk refurbed if I find one at a good price online.
