• EA3500 responsible N750 of ceiling in my internet speed?

  I use the EA 3500 router through which my main computer is connected (wired) - wifi being disabled on this router (I have another access point elsewhere in the House).

  My ISP (cable) just upgraded me from 20 Mbit/s download / 10 Mbps upload at 30 Mbps / 10 Mbps last week.  However, my speed test keep (from this computer plugged direct into the EA3500) saying that I'm still 20/10...

  We have reset the cable modem ISP (ISP-driven), tried many other sites, nothing helps.

  Their technology has suggested it * could * be the router Linksys that would "put something" (unintentionally) to put a ceiling of 20 Mbps, since their modem indicate it is programmed for 30.  Now, I'm looking in the web interface of the router and do, indeed, the appearing speed test it displays a scale which stops at 20 Mbps...

  Is it really the case with this router? Or is there a setting somewhere in the router settings I need to change to allow for more high speed internet?...

  I would like to dismiss this troubleshooting step and move on...

  Hi, lanstrad. Are you referring to the prioritization of the media? If so, you can do one of 3 options. One, set the downstream and upstream to 0 bandwidth. Second option would be to re-establish the order of precedence. Turn off Finally, prioritization of the media. That should give you at least 30 Mbps or more. I hope this works. Keep us informed.   It does not matter if you are going to use the set up CD or you manually configure the linksys router. It depends on you if want to set up a Smart Wifi account but it is not really important if you create one or not.

  I had a router (EA3500) wifi linksys n750 chip to use with a scientific atlanta cable modem. Initially, I tried to set up on my girlfriends laptop but because the installation program REQUIRES wifi, she didn't. (the wifi on this laptop is down). He got up to 85% filled including having put in place the SSID and password. but failed to set up the internet connection. So I tried to put up with my laptop instead. I unplugged the modem and router for more than 5 minutes each, and then began the installation program. It reaches 25% and then asked to not be able to detect a linksys router. However, I checked my taskbar, and he said that I was connected to the router under the SSID I had put in place previously. So I tried the option "I have configured my router and want to connect to it", I entered the SSID and the PW, but still he could not connect. I used the reset button on the router for if all right to restore it to factory settings. Now when I try to install it doesn't have the SSID tthat had already together (the router is now identified as "Cisco 00259" or something like that), but it still fails to 25%. He also said that it cannot detect a linksys router. What is going on. I know that the Wifi is working on this laptop. I cycled the modem and the router enough times to be sure that is not the problem. How to spend it?

  The Setup program requires no wifi. Connect to the router with an ethernet cable and try again. If installation does not try to connect to the router with a browser to 192.168.1.1 and configure manually. The password will be "admin" without the quotes.

• Why some devices (like the PS3) connects through the 5 Ghz band? (EA3500)

  Just installed a Linksys N750 (EA3500) router (WAN - LAN Configuration).

  I have set the two broadband networks: 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz with different SSID and different WAP/WAP2 staff mixt.

  While some devices display correctly the two networks, I am facing problems with the 5 GHz band and wonder if it's the breath of some sort of failure:

  -My iPad offered the two signals and allow me to define the 5 Ghz band, but it is showing the weak signals and stall when loading Web pages; as soon as I put it instead on the 2.4 Ghz band, (standing at the same place, of course), what's up, excellent signal.

  -J' have a Mac Mini and the location of the PS3 side by side.  The Mac Mini seems to work perfectly in both bands, 2.4 or 5 - excellent signal. However, the PS3 has failed his test of connection and indicates that the signal is not noticeable on the 5 GHz. But connect as a wink on the 2.4 Ghz band.

  -Got on and off voltage signal of 5 GHz on a laptop; connected to 2.4 Ghz, everything works perfectly.

  -iPhone 4s: I can't even see the SSID of 5 GHz, but I get the 2.4 so Guess account...

  So I'm tempted to conclude that some devices can not just keep up (?) to connect on 5 GHz...  But... a PS3? ... Huumm... (but true: PS3 came out in 2006...)

  There are devices just wireless which are not turned on or is not compatible to work with a network of Ghz band. The WiFi feature may not be up-to-date or limited to only work with a network of 2.4 Ghz. In your case, you might want to check with Sony so PS3 can be updated to work with a network of 5 GHz.

  I had a Linksys WRT54GL connected to this router as 192.168.0.2, defined as a router (no bridge) and where other devices are connected.

  I am trying to replace my WRT54GL by a new EA3500.

  I used Cisco connect and the EA3500 successfully, but as 192.168.1.1 installation software.

  When I try to set the IP address as 192.168.0.2 on the base/Setup settings tab, disable the dhcp server, with or without disable NAT in Configuration / advanced routing, the EA3500 is Ok to change, but I can not connect or more ping with the new 192.168.0.2 address.

  Anyone know how to set the ea3500 as a second back with 192.168.0.2 (or other IP) and not as a gateway?

  Use the bridge mode. Do not use the LAN - LAN configuration with the new EA series routers. Bridge mode is supposed to do all that and better.

  Configure the type of internet connection in bridge mode.
  the value 192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0 static ip, dns & gateway 192.168.0.1

  wire the internet port of the main router.

  Do not forget after the change in your computer needs to get a new IP address of your main router, for example reboot to regain access to the 192.168.0 network. *.

  Hi, I bought an EA3500 to replace my WRT54G. I have setup my PPPOE WAN connection as my ISP asked, the same settings I used on my WRT54G. My local network is the default DHCP.

  Anyway, when my WAN connection is unplugged I can access the page of the router without problem. However, when I plug my WAN cable, I can view my router configuration page at all. All I get is an error message saying "gateway error". My internet does not work. He will take care of a few very privileged, such as the home page of my operator of mobile phone, but when I try to go on Youtube or my bank online, for example, I get a screen empty with "Establishing the secure connection" in the status bar of Google Chrome. It will also ping command prompt google.co.uk, but I can not access Google in my browser!

• Apple Watch unlock Mac Setup Frustration

  I own a first generation of Apple Watch and an end 2013 13 "MacBook Pro and last mac mini (i5). I went through the entire setup process to have my watch unlock my MacBook several times. (All along the) When I get to choose the button "Allow your Apple Watch unlock your Mac", it runs for awhile and then I get the "unable to contact Apple Watch" fast. It seems to be my watch because if I try and let the Apple Watch locked, she'll tell me to unlock, and then try again. Happens on MacBook Pro and mac mini in the same way.

  I tried to research on this problem and we tried all authentication reset to two factors for an agreement again all settings and turn it on again.

  Any thoughts?

• Setup various AE advise

  I have problems to get the maximum speed. My ISP is 150 MB and I have this Setup:

  Airport Extreme (6th generation) placed in the living room connected to the Ethernet modem (modem is bridged, no router). When I connect this way, it gives me 130-150 MB, which is fine.

  However, when I connect these devices all starts to vary:

  1. an other Airport Extreme (6th generation) is connected to the hand on. Expansion of the network. When I try to change the option expand Network turn off this airport restarts but never succeeds and gives me an error. The only thing I can do is add then reset again and then I can only use the extension of the network. This normally works very well but do not know what it might cause the heavy fall.

  On this second AE Ethernet port I have attached a Synology NAS with my music, and so on

  2. an Airport Express (A1392 3rd gen) that I now set to join the network to see if things would improve. This one I use for music and it has a smart thermostat bridge (Tado) plugged into the Ethernet port

  3. an Airport Express (A1392 3rd gen) which I used to use to expand the wireless network but have disabled now I read that the extension of the network makes the slower WIFI and I'm afraid the Express slows down the extreme speed AC but not sure about that.

  4. a Time Capsule from Apple (4th gen) which I use for backup. I disabled the connection here as I believe join or extend the network would be to ask questions. I have attached a few devices through Ethernet at the back of the TC.

  The various airports are in different places in my house but not more then 10 meters (30 feet) on the other.

  That Setup would you recommend in order to get the best speed in different places?

  If you extend the network using a wireless connection between base stations, it will be the first performance issue you will encounter. It would be preferable to extend it using a wired connection between base stations. This is known as a roaming network configuration.

  In this configuration the AirPort Express performs like any other client wireless on your Wi - Fi network. He also performed an Ethernet bridge wireless for the Tado. It does not perform routing functions, or it extends the network. In addition, please note that the A1392 is a base station 2nd generation 802.11n. There is no 3rd generation... yet.

  Yes, what you read is correct. Again, you can reduce the amount of the penalty to performance of a network using a network of itinerant type instead. This requires not all base stations to be connected by Ethernet.

  How this time Capsule is connected? Wired or wireless and other base stations? For the record, it cannot be configured to 'join the AirPort Express wireless network'.

  The implementation of recommendation would be a roaming network.
