EA8500 with WRT004ANT

Hi, anyone tried the WRT004ANT with the EA8500?

Any improvement in the coverage?

If Yes, little about how much is improving?

Thank you.

  • How can LRT224 and EA8500, I use them together?

I work at home and need to have a VPN configuration to access our servers.  My home network is already a linksys EA8500 with wireless support.  My House is wired the outlets that are CAT6 and I have several desktops using electrician and several wireless mobile devices.  I also have a switch Linksys 16/Gb port SE3016.

I want to be able to keep the wireless support and also to use the LRT224 for my VPN configuration.

Is this possible?  If so, can you someone let me know how to set up from out of the ISP modem?  Or perhaps point me to a document that describes in detail what to do?

I have the information to make the VPN settings to the servers of my work, but do not know how to integrate the LRT224 into the rest of my home network.

    Hints, links, popular procedures.

    Thank you, Rob.

You could use EA8500 as a wireless access point and connect one of its LAN ports to a LAN of LRT224 port. The LRT224 will be a WAN port, connect to your modem. This way the firewall/NAT running on port WAN of EA8500 is not used, and server DHCP of LRT224 is one that provides IP addresses for all devices in your network, including Wi-wired and wireless.

While you set up EA8500, it is advisable to configure a static IP address to the IP LAN of the EA8500, so that you can easily access the web interface of admininstraitve more late for things like changing the SSID (network name) or WPA2 preshared key (network passwords).

  • How VLAN 2 x EA8500

I'm running a (main) EA8500 with a fiber using LAN and WLAN modem (no comment box) and all is well.

It's a great piece of equipment.

I intend to set up an another (secondary) EA8500 for young people and their friends.

I would like to the secondary image on a second subnet / VLAN to separate entirely from my primary private subnet, only allowing the internet traffic and traffic between the jobs on this subnet.

As there is no coverage of the main EA8500 in this part of my home, the secondary EA8500 will be wired to a port LAN from the main EA8500.

I'm aware that separating ports LAN from the main EA8500 is to set up a VLAN, and as I am a novice in Linksys - and VLAN in particular - I need help, set it up and would appreciate any help and suggestions I can get.

Can someone tell me how to put in place?

    See you soon

VLAN on the EA8500 is strictly for special configurations of access provider Internet.

I recommend buying a LRT214 or the LRT224 to do the Routing and isolation of VLAN for this application.

  • Disconnections of VPN with EA8500

Strange problem. Connect remotely via VPN to the office. Whenever an explosion of data traffic on my home network to any user (for example start-up Skype or streaming, or even log) my VPN interrupts the connection (reason code 631 - port disconnected by the user). This behavior is completely reproducible. I can reconnect the VPN and continue working until another burst of network traffic causes VPN to drop again. It is easy to see the relationship by running a continuous ping (-t) on the Desktop server when connected to the VPN.

Windows 7 PC, gigabit ethernet/WiFi at home and an EA8500 network. Internet connection is fiber 200 / 20 Mbps.

I spent weeks playing with the firewall settings, change the router settings, open ports and replace the network but the problem just disappeared when I replaced the Linksys with an older router. I returned all the firewall (Norton) PC back by default settings after changing routers and VPN remains stable.

Any thoughts or is it just a faulty EA8500 router?

  • New technology on the EA8500 MU will benefit users with older technology

I'm looking for some advice REGUARDING the new EA8500... If your not sure if your devices are supported on the new MU technologyt then

1 - How can you check your devices to see if they support the MU technology which offers EA8500. ? And

    2. I guess because it is so new, that all my devices do not have this ability and if I'm right is there an advantage for me to upgrade to the new EA8500? I like the idea of the function (multi-user) and think that it would improve my put through, but I am running windows 7, several (I pads, I have Mac, IPad mini Apple air, several every years) as a smart TV AND SMART THERMOSTS. Running ON a linksys EA4500 and I've been jumping this new Ea 8500 migh speed things up a little bit for me. Also have a very slow ISP run 10 mbs

Thanks for advice or technical knowledge that might steere me in the right dirrection

    BJT...

Thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly... My current setup is mostly wireless with just the smart TV cable.

the other devices are all wireless. The EA 4500 router in a back room unfournitureitly but I get good signals upwards to the second floor and given that my ISP only pushes 10Mps using my p/c desktop and a laptop computer sony running windows 7 and the two using a usb adapter type N 900 AE 3000 , pc tracks fairly quickly with no drop-outs... The problem seems to occure when I'm at the same level as the router using an I Pad air and Mini or 3rd gen.or an Apple laptop look old for many years. The answer is horrible... Although my I touch gen.will 6 same in thoes receive locations that the iPad and computer laptop air apple don't work well in. It seems that the Androids have the same proublem... Of course, the Smart connected TV works fine with no dropouts.

Once again thanks for your time... And I'm going to start looking for the plug on the devices. I thought maybe a signal extender?

PS I shared the concert using 5 g hz or 2.4 at different times and it doesn't seem to help... in fact when I try and choose or change of 2.4 g to 5 g Ipads don't see the 5 g on occaisions network a lot...

  • Connection lost with printers in Linksys EA8500 (EA8500)

    I have a HP officejet 8500 a more printer

my router previeus more than a day ago was great to work with the printer.

Now on this new router and my printer keeps losing the connection to my mac cable

Printer is wifi 2.4 GHz only (or wired = do not use for the moment)

I booked an address of the printer, but still lost conection.

I tried 20 MHz only = same result

I've implemented the new connection to the printer = same results

I tried Auto and g/f = only the same results

    I tried 2 channels = same results

    WPA2Personal

same name as the old router

Evertime I change something in the settings wifi it works then minutes can not find the printer.

    Please notify

My IP address of the printer does not change when my computer can not find her pinter.

I think that I thought about it.

I reset the network connection to the printer. then used the configuration on the printer wizzard and his works always.

If that was the problem so I blame this router Asus leftover junk that was in my printer.

I tried the wizzard configuration before and used a static IP address.

If you don't hear from me, the cure was = on the printer to reset the network connection.

Also please can I have the menu advanced for this router?

Not that I want to change anything, I'm looking for more information about the network.

    Thanks to you all!

  • Ask questions about the functionality of EA8500 MU-MIMO

    Dear Linksys

I bought EA8500, and it arrived today.

I have two questions about the functionality of MU-MIMO of EA8500 AP.

    1. I want to compare the performance between SU-MIMO and MU-MIMO, but there is no option to control this feature in the router admin page. Is that one of the possible ways?

2 EA8500 supports 1733 Mbps wireless speed, but it resembles the speed of 1 Gbps ethernet cable.

This router supports really speed 1 Gbps ethernet? or y at - it an option to support more throughput as the aggregation of links?

    Thank you

Hi, hyeonu. For your first query, it is not possible because there is no option to disable the feature of MU-MIMO on your Linksys EA8500 router. In addition, with regard to your second, you can get a higher throughput of 1 Gbps since this is the maximum capacity of your ethernet connection.

  • No IPv6 on EA8500

    Hello

Very useful advice, I received (see here), I bought an EA8500 router. I am really happy with it and surprised by the improvement he made on my previous installation.

Now, IPv6 is something that I can't go to work. Because my ISP provides a cable-modem/router, I connected my router to the ISP router, with, of course, a different IP address. If I connect a computer to the ISP router, I can get IPv6 traffic: report http://test-ipv6.com/ is everything is OK, and ipv6.test - ipv6.com is accessible.

However, any computer connected through the device of EA8500 fails to get IPv6 traffic. The report of http://test-ipv6.com/ is red on the IPv6 test and ipv6.test - ipv6.com isn't reachable.

I know almost nothing about IPv6, so I don't know where to look. Clues?

    Thank you!

    R.

    @mrgou

Before you enable IPV6, you must gather the following information from your ISP: prefix network installation, length of prefix, relay of border and IPv4 address Mask Length. Once done, order the link here on how you can configure IPV6 on your router.

  • The EA8500 supports DHCP Option 60/61?

    Hello

I was wondering the EA8500 can be used with sky fiber Pro service to the United Kingdom? Obviously I would need to extract the username of the SR101/102 and then intend to use the modem Openreach VDSL2 with the EA8500 (btw brilliant router) but after some research, I understand the router needs to support DHCP option 60 & 61 in order to connect with the sky. The EA8500 does it take?

    See you soon

    psycho

Linksys engineering has notified me that the EA8500 is not compatible DHCP Option 60/61.

Filed a feature request in support of these DHCP Options. Lets hope it is approved and included.

  • EA8500 put in place the problem

Current nine EA8500 to install it on a system Win10 (fully updated).  Router works through internet modem signal cable to the computer.  But the computer can not find the router.  I tried 192.168.1.1 via a browser (PW 'admin').  Can not find the router.

Checked the address IP address of the computer and it only is not the IP address of the router.  Tried ipconfig/release times logged in and unplugged the cable modem (but connected to the router).  Restarted the computer, reset the router, tried the button manual WiFi on the back of the router (no SSID when the light is on), has attempted to access linksyssmartwifi.com (get message that 'my Linksys router requries series EA Smart WiFi Firmware', so that the router is not be seen via the site web eihter.)

It's as if the computer does not know that the router is there.  Was chatting and they basically walked me thorugh the things that I had already tried.

    Thoughts?

Connect the computer directly to the modem ISP. If it works then computer and the ISP connection is good.

Then with the ISP modem unplugged EA8500 connect the computer via Ethernet and LAN port and see if you get an IP address. If you don't get an IP address, the EA8500 is probably defective and I recommend swapping\RMA for other EA8500 to the store of purchase.

The IMO the EA8500 is an excellent router.

  • EA8500 best configuration PS4

    Hello

Two days ago, that I bought this blazing fast EA8500 linksys router specifically to optimize my gaming experience.

What happened I have worse performance with the new router than without it.

I use connection fiber with up-down/100/20 Mbit/s speed and 3ms ping to my first jump.

I am fill the alcatel HAVE I-240w-A coming from my ISP and setting the PPPoE username and pass on my router EA8500, left settings are just that out of the box one, I'm on the latest firmware update 1.1.4.171079 of the router. My problem that I face a lot of delay and interruption while playing on my PS4 console, specifically Call of Duty Black Ops 3, when I disconnect the EA8500 and connect directly to the i-240w-A all the questions are not there, experience is flawless, I'm MAD, how I could buy an expensive router and get worse performance?

I use a wired connection with the EA8500 and alcatel in Ontario

There are many parameters to adjust that perhaps the real reason is, I want to know how to correctly configure this router to optimize the performance of game on PS4 on wired connection, I never use wireless on my PS4.

Sorry for my long subject, but this question makes me real frausterating...

Thank you very much in advance,

Hi, Huthayfa1. You can take advantage of some of the features of the router to maximize the performance of your PS4. QOS is now the prioritization of media. This feature allows you to give priority to some of your devices, such as the PS4. For more details, see this link: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=140043

You can also open the ports for your PS4 to a more stable connection. For more information on this topic, see this link: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=138535

    I hope this helps.

    Hello brooksm549,
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I got your message which, since updating your iPhone 6 to iOS 10.0.2 your iPhone stops when it is 40% and the power to empty very quickly. I understand your concern with the iPhone turn off and drains the battery. I recommend you to review the use of the battery to see what app contributes more to the battery drain. The following article will provide you with steps on how to check the use of the battery:

On the use of the battery on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

When you get the new iPod, you can use iTunes on your computer to select and synchronize the music you want on it, in the same way that you synchronize your current iPod - your iTunes will recognize them as different devices and will remember your choice of synchronization for each, it will not (unless, for example, you restore the backup of your current on her iPod) put the same content on both.

(I asked for your post be moved to the iPod Touch forum, where you have posted is the iPad forum use.)
