• Interruption of the connection with EA9500 & BO3

  I noticed since the installation of the new EA9500 router, I get connection interrupted while playing call of duty game BO3.

  I updated the firmware and restarted the modem cable too.

  I don't understand why I'm getting this.

• Disable Remoting on EA9500

  How to disable remote access on the EA9500? The firmware help documentation mentions an option to disable access, but the option is not present in firmware. Port 80 is open on the side WAN.

  WiFi Smart does not use port 80 for remote access. It is a Cloud Computing service, so I don't think that all ports are open for remote access. Instead he communications with the Linksys cloud server directly.

  Port 80 could be opened by an IP camera or computer to your network if you have UPNP enabled in the EA9500. To test this disable UPNP on the router and restart.

• Linksys EA9500 LED problem - a solid blue line

  I had the EA9500 for a little more than a month without problems and the strong performance.

  Just yesterday, I noticed that the extreme left LED is a solid blue line on the top and the bottom of the white LED.  So the white LED is there (al that strong white LEDS is there), and above and below the left LED is a solid blue line.  It has been published.

  I restarted the router, it just comes back.

  I checked the router diagnostics and everything seems OK.  My son says that he has wireless connectivity problems, but I don't know if the two are related.

  I can't find a source to tell me what it means to the blue line.

  Any ideas?

  The blue LED when the EA9500 is running indicate a device connected to MU-MIMO which is very cool and high technology.

• Linksys EA9500: FTP issues

  I recently bought and installed a Linksys EA9500 V1.1 running the latest version of the software package (1.1.6.173418).  Overall, the router performs as advertised with almost an improvement of the order of magnitude of speed on my previous router network.  However, it has some quirks that I can't work around.  With a bit of luck, I'm too stupid to configure the settings of the router correctly, but I suspect they are limits in firmware.

  Question No. 1: the FTP server cannot use TLS or SFTP; Passwords are sent in clear text over the internet

  When I try to connect to my router, either from the local network or remotely from the WAN IP address I am unable to connect with active TLS.  Therefore, the user name and password is sent by plain text that could be easily intercepted by someone using a packet sniffer.  This is not a big problem on the local network, but is a serious risk to security connecting from the internet.  At least with TLS, the communication should be encrypted, but it does not appear to be supported by the firmware. am I missing a setting somewhere?  In turn SFTP would work, but it doesn't seem to be an option to activate the SFTP, just a power switch for the FTP setting.  Is there a way to change the default 21 FTP server port to another arbitrary port?  This would at least make it a little less obvious to the casual observer.

  It would bypass the first question I have a unix machine on the internal network that supports SSH and SFTP, and can get in the car to the routher via samba.  Port forwarding can redirect ports to that machine.  I have 4 network security cameras which internal download motion events via FTP on the network.  Through the firmware of the router I can only turn ftp 'on' or 'off' without additional control.  Is there a way to restrict FTP to only the LAN and preventing access over the WAN?

  Alternatively, is there any support for the DD - WRT firmware as with the WRT1900?

  Don't you did everything correctly. The points you mention are not part of the design of the Wifi chip. Without encryption of FTP or the Restriction on the ability of LAN.

  I have this will forward to the genius of Linksys as a feature request.

• Two extensions of the range RE7000 with EA9500 router works not so well...

  Everything works very well with a RE7000, but when I add a second RE7000 (needed for another part of my house with weak signal), the 5 GHz band is confusing. By "confusing", I mean that you can however connect WiFi, but for some reason Internet access are not available.

  If I remove the second RE7000, everything works fine. The 2 GHz band works very well with one or two RE7000 in use. It is only the 5 GHz band that merges with the two RE7000 in use.

  I found this article on activation of the 802 - 11r option, hoping he can solve the problem, but this option does not appear on my page of RE7000 configuration settings:

  There are good reasons to turn the direction of the band. For example, you have an old extension wireless or wireless bridge. These devices normally don't like it if changes there AP. Some extensions of the line like the RE7000 with the new MU-MIMO and transparent roaming can work very well with the direction of the band, but I have not tested this point.

  If you disable band where you do all the unique SSID. In this way, you can divide your devices among SSIDS so they don't all connect to the same SSID. This should contribute to the performance.
