Linksys EA9500: FTP issues

I recently bought and installed a Linksys EA9500 V1.1 running the latest version of the software package (1.1.6.173418). Overall, the router performs as advertised with almost an improvement of the order of magnitude of speed on my previous router network. However, it has some quirks that I can't work around. With a bit of luck, I'm too stupid to configure the settings of the router correctly, but I suspect they are limits in firmware.

Question No. 1: the FTP server cannot use TLS or SFTP; Passwords are sent in clear text over the internet

When I try to connect to my router, either from the local network or remotely from the WAN IP address I am unable to connect with active TLS. Therefore, the user name and password is sent by plain text that could be easily intercepted by someone using a packet sniffer. This is not a big problem on the local network, but is a serious risk to security connecting from the internet. At least with TLS, the communication should be encrypted, but it does not appear to be supported by the firmware. am I missing a setting somewhere? In turn SFTP would work, but it doesn't seem to be an option to activate the SFTP, just a power switch for the FTP setting. Is there a way to change the default 21 FTP server port to another arbitrary port? This would at least make it a little less obvious to the casual observer.

Question #2: FTP server cannot be restricted to the single LAN traffic

It would bypass the first question I have a unix machine on the internal network that supports SSH and SFTP, and can get in the car to the routher via samba. Port forwarding can redirect ports to that machine. I have 4 network security cameras which internal download motion events via FTP on the network. Through the firmware of the router I can only turn ftp 'on' or 'off' without additional control. Is there a way to restrict FTP to only the LAN and preventing access over the WAN?

Alternatively, is there any support for the DD - WRT firmware as with the WRT1900?

Thank you

Mike

Don't you did everything correctly. The points you mention are not part of the design of the Wifi chip. Without encryption of FTP or the Restriction on the ability of LAN.

I have this will forward to the genius of Linksys as a feature request.

  • Linksys wrt1900ac - FTP address changing constanty - it drives me crazy!

    Hello!

I enabled the FTP server. Everything works fine, BUT:

How can I stop the router from its address of the FTP server constantly evolving? This is the first 79.222.11.35:21, then after a few days 79.222.18.68:21 and so on.

Every day is different, which means that it is difficult to work with. This behavior is costing me a lot of nerves and brings a lot of trouble. I have stock for customers on the hard disk that is attached to the wrt1900 and I myself can not access data when I need it. The irony is - I bought the router due to its internal functioning of the FTP server, but now - it is unusable.

No idea how can I stop this?

    concerning

PS: I do not know if this is relevant: the hard drive is powered by USB and goes into standby mode if you do not - I like this behavior.

    Answers to your questions:

    1. This means that I can't basically give someone a direct link to its share on the FTP Server internal wrt1900ac?

Yes all I KNOW with the Linksys Firmware Ver.1.1.8.161917 the FTP server does not allow access to the WAN (Internet)

    2. which means I need a ftp server or NAS extra homemade for that?

You can flash OpenWRT McWRT and have access to the server FTP WAN on the WRT1900AC

    3. the Linksys WRT1900AC supports the DynDNS.org, TZO.com suppliers and NO - IP.com . Which means that I have TO use these providers and nothing else?

Yes, but with OpenWRT McWRT you can use any provider.

Use the well known to start default settings. I recommend only change the SSID and passwords of wireless security until you become more familiar with it.

Wireless information is not provided in the router, the user interface, but you can get that from the connected devices.

  • Linksys EA9500 LED problem - a solid blue line

I had the EA9500 for a little more than a month without problems and the strong performance.

Just yesterday, I noticed that the extreme left LED is a solid blue line on the top and the bottom of the white LED. So the white LED is there (al that strong white LEDS is there), and above and below the left LED is a solid blue line. It has been published.

I restarted the router, it just comes back.

I checked the router diagnostics and everything seems OK. My son says that he has wireless connectivity problems, but I don't know if the two are related.

I can't find a source to tell me what it means to the blue line.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

The blue LED when the EA9500 is running indicate a device connected to MU-MIMO which is very cool and high technology.

  • CUE 2.3.1 backup FTP issues

Receive the following error message when you attempt a backup through the GUI of CUE, "failed to connect to the backup server: 550 failed to create directory.". Permission denied. »

CUE is to achieve the correct backup FTP directory because the file history.log was placed in this directory. Not sure if it has something to do with the FTP software we use - FileZilla.

Normally, we require that it be able to create directories in the pathname specified as the backup location. I think very little, it will create a directories Configuration_1 and donnees_1 (the number may be incremented until however in many cases of backup configured; default 5, I think). The best thing to do would be to check the filezilla logs to see what he tried to do when it was denied and then create these directories.

Problem: Dreamweaver displays a good connection when the connection test, the FTP log shows a connection, but when I look in the directory of the file to the remote server, it only shows the folder for one of my subdomains with .bash files listed. All the other files in this subdomain are there, but never updated, even when I manually upload files to GoDaddy with their web-based file manager. • CS3 FTP Issues in XPSP2

Recently upgraded to DW CS3 on my laptop and desktop, running DW MX2004. Both machines are XP SP2. I have a problem (in all the hosting companies I use, 1 & 1, Omnis, etc.) where my FTP puts will be excessively timeout. I have to click the X in the background file activity window to cancel... and then disconnect the component files... then cancel this operation as well. I wait for 20 seconds, reconnect, and then I can put it--after he tells me on a synchronization problem where I have to click Yes to. This happens 60 percent of the time on the desktop computer, but only 3 to 5% of the time on the laptop.

Also, when I have to cancel the set, my web server displays only a blank page until I can complete a put option. This includes pages that were correctly loaded before... they 'disappear.' I waited to see a Dreamweaver via Adobe Updater update...

He works with passive FTP mode... but once I close DW, then reopened, he was back to the same old, same old. I failed it and set it to Secure FTP - now, not only works, but it's three times faster.

Thanks for all the help - made me try the right stuff!

  • problems loading swf to a remote server

    Hi all

I have problems loading SWF to my remote server of Mr. There is no problem loading all my other SWF files just straight up. I get a message telling me that Dreamweaver is having a problem connecting to the remote server and it times out. I can load up the swf using cpanel. Does anyone have advice helping, what happens if something can be done to address the problem

    Concerning

    Paul

    Hi Paul,.

Use to troubleshoot Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-ftp-issues-dreamweaver-cs5.html. (cs5 is similar I think).

BUT in any case I'm not a friend of a detailed diagnosis. This is one of the reasons why I prefer an external FTP program. The difficulties with which we must fight encourage me in this opinion, especially because we are always looking for experts, we charge a 'jack of all trades '.

For this reason, for example, manage multiple Web sites or download my files and sometimes the reverse, for a necessary download from my server or use a "sync a whole site", I use FileZilla (cpanel I don't even know). It just seems easy for me to keep track of all transactions accurately and generate or easily reflect the desired tree structure.
First and foremost, FileZilla has a function (translation of my German FileZilla), called 'compare the list of files. Here it is possible to use the time of size or change file as a criterion. There is also the possibility of 'hide identical files', while only those files that you want to redact remain visible.

And even if it means that you need to install a new program, I am convinced that there is an advantage. Here is the link to get it and where you can read information on how it works:

    http://FileZilla-project.org/ and http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Tutorial#Using_the_site_manager

    Mac: Mac OS X
    http://FileZilla-project.org/download.php

Of course, you should also access data to reach your server.

    Good luck

  • WCV54G & new firmware & FTP from Linksys

    Hello

just got a WCV54G and thought I would check this forum for any word experience. I had a good idea here, but I can't seem to find answer to what firmware V510 intamac is and if its best to install this on the 2.11 firmware?

If the FTP server is down, anyone know where I can download 2.12, 2.15 and intamac V510 firmwrare?

Each week, I use to update one of my sites.

    Help, please... Thank you!

Have you tried to use a distinct and 3rd party FTP client? If you can successfully connect and download to aid what he would suggest process FTP of Dreamweaver is messed up. And unfortunately, this is not surprising as it may seem, it is a part of Dreamweaver, I can meet quite regularly problems with. You can try to play with the site settings by using the Advanced Options tab, which will provide you with some additional settings for the FTP and see if that helps. Otherwise, you will have to just work around it with another FTP client.

  • Download issues of FTP files using safari 9.1

Using other browsers (chrome and firefox) I can click on a link that will download a file FTP on my macbook pro. In safari 9.1 however I get an "unknown error" (NSURLErrorDomain: - 1). The link that I use is ftp://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/databases/genenames/new/tsv/locus_groups/other_alt_loci. txt. I tested this link on other former Mac (safari 6) and the download of the works. I also emptied the history, the web of data, wiped the plists in ~/Library/Preferences associate with safari (IE "com.apple.Safari.plist", "com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist" and "com.apple.internetconfig.plist") and deleted all the files under ~/Library/Safari but still no joy.

I left wondering if there is a bug in some other situations somewhere or wether 9.1 safari just may not download files ftp more.

I think you'll have problems trying to do it on Safari. Please see this discussion > can not download files via FTP

Try it on Firefox or Chrome.
