EBS 12.2.4 on 12 c RAC EXADATA

Hi Experts,

We are trying to install EBS 12.2.4 on 2 shared node APPL_TOP & single DB node. The default DB is 11.2.0.3, we expect the upgrade to 12.1.0.2

After upgrading DB to 12 c, we have a plan to convert this node 2 CARS & migrate the db to Exadata machines.

Could you please help us know the Metalink migration of 12 c to exadata & 12cRAC with 12,2 EBS on Exadata.

If possible please let me know your suggestion to achieve this.

Thanks in advance.

  • the ebs 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3 on IBM AIX 64 upgrade

    Hi experts,

We have ebs 11.5.10.2 currently, simple installation (db levels and applications on the same node) node
We intend to upgrade to the latest version 12.1.3 on 11.2.0.3.0 RDBMS.

    I need your help for the following queries;
-is it possible to configure the ebs (levels of db and apps) using RAC (only available to 2 nodes, each node must hold levels db and apps?)
-What is the required minimum nodes if I deploy on my ebs environment rac?

could you please help me with the docs needed to deploy a successful upgrade?

    Thank you.

the current environment of EBS is IBM AIX 64 single node installation.
the new topology must include 2 nodes with IBM AIX 64 > holding the DB as RAC level
and the application layer should be migrated to Linux 64.

In this case, you do not need to migrate the database and you just need to use a different OS for application-level nodes.

the measures on the current node,
    1 - upgrade 9.2.6 to 9.2.8 DB layer
    9.2.8 to 11.2.0.3 DB layer 2 - upgrade
3 - passage of the application layer, of 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1
    4 - crossing the 12.1.1 to 12.1.3 App

    Sounds good.

I will later propose the db for oracle RAC on a new nodes with the same IBM AIX 64 platform diffenet
5 - Install the grid and the db on the new nodes
6 - import the Pb of the old node upgraded to the cars db

I still need to read good to find the best way to go through a successful upgrade.

Once you upgrade 11i to 11.2.0.3 data base, lay the R12 software on new Linux machines and complete the 12.1.1 upgrade. Then upgrade to 12.1.3 release. Once you are finished with the upgrade of the application migrate the database of unique to the RAC node.

    Thank you

  • Please give your opinion

    Hi all

I get to level my r12 ebs 12.0.6 to ebs r12 12.1.1 on environment RAC OUL5x64.
    2 middleTiers and 2dbTiers.
    the upgrade takes long enough.

    Issues related to the:
When finishing upgrade on the first level medium (12.1.1) and ensuring that everything is in place and functioning.
what I would do is to clone the first level of way for the second level of way (not upgrade the average second level).
I think it will save me a lot of time and avoid a lot of headaches patching.
Please give me your impressions on this method.

    Kind regards
    Tom

    Tom,

If this path seems valid to me, I think it is not supported by Oracle. With the unified concept of APPL_TOP, you should have identical copies of files on both nodes of application layer, but again I think not that it is supported (connect an SR to confirm this with the support of the Oracle).

In my view, it is not easy with your current configuration to have an identical copy (a cloned instance) to estimate the time of upgrade. However, you can review the documents referenced in the following thread to reduce the blockage time.

Something like below but I don't know how make the function analytical in use the 'previous' value is calculated just.

    WITH PURCH_SOURCE AS (

Do you need to get 1,000 songs?  In the sample results, you seem to 4 343 parts.  Do you really have this number stored on each row in the purch_source table?  That seems like a very bad design.  As the number you get to need is not an attribute of the source, I don't think it belongs in the purch_source table at all.  What will you do if different lines have different values for qty_to_fulfull?  The query below takes the highest value.

You have 20 suppliers, or you have 6?

I think you want something like this:

    SELECT qty_to_fulfull, purch_source, price, qty_on_hand

    BIGGER (LESS (qty_on_hand

    qty_on_hand

    + MAX (qty_to_fulfull) ON)

    -SUM (qty_on_hand) (ORDER OF PRICE

    purch_source

    )

    )

    0

    ) AS qty_to_take

    OF purch_source

    ORDER BY price

    purch_source

    ;

When 2 or more rows have exactly the same price, the above query uses the first purch_source (in alphabetical order) first, but you can use anything you want to as a tiebreaker.

Thanks for posting the sample data in a usable format; This is really useful!

You were on the right track, thinking about analytic functions for this.  You can use the OFFSET to get the total amount of 2 lines, but, in this problem, you need to get the total amount of all the lines so far, not TÉU 2; in other words, you need a running sum, what does the SUM function analytical.

  • Use of indexes is not recorded in v$ object_usage...

    Hi all

A few days ago, I posted a question to see if table scans / index deemed "used" index followed its use.

Now I have a bit of the opposite question: I can't seem to get clues to "confess" v$ object_usage they been used!

    I tried this on two systems: a quarter-rack race Exadata V1 11.2.0.2 BP7 and a 11.2.0.3 (vanilla) running on AIX 5.3

I can't make it work on either, despite the fact that I have activated it for 900 non-unique index on the Exadata machine and 300 on the AIX 5.3 database. The two are producing, so I expect high activity levels.

That's what I did. Maybe I did something wrong. Surely that I did.

The control of its use on the index WE - I did yesterday
    ALTER INDEX schema1.decentsizedtab_nu-idx1 MONITORING USAGE;
Find the name of owner or table on which the index is based. When I run the present, nothing crazy is returned. It is a unique, valid, index that has not been analyzed since June 2010. It is NOT partitioned, NOT temporary and NOT invisible. Segments were created for the index.
    SELECT owner, index_name, index_type, table_owner, table_name, table_type, uniqueness, status, last_analyzed, partitioned, temporary, global_stats, visibility, segment_created

    SCHEMA1 DECENTSIZEDTAB_NU-IDX1  COL_3               3
    SCHEMA1 DECENTSIZEDTAB_NU-IDX1  COL_4               4
So you would think that would use the index, especially if I give this move a bit to use it...
    EXPLAIN PLAN FOR
    SELECT /*+ INDEX (schema1.decentsizedtab_nu-idx1)*/ col_1, col_2, col_3, col_4

Once this is completed, we will check the object_usage view $ v to see if it has registered using the index
    SELECT *
    FROM v$object_usage;

    No rows returned.
LOL. Nope. Bitch index tracking! *

I have not considered the fact that exadata was involved (unloading, etc.) to perform this operation somehow, but as I said, I tried this with an Oracle database restart a single instance and I see the same thing.

It is a real pain because I have 50-60 patterns in the Exadata database AND I am logged in as SYSDBA - surely, I should be able to see everything in v$ object_usage?

Here is the definition of v$ object_usage

    select io.name, t.name,
           decode(bitand(i.flags, 65536), 0, 'NO', 'YES'),
           decode(bitand(ou.flags, 1), 0, 'NO', 'YES'),

      and i.obj# = ou.obj#
      and io.obj# = ou.obj#
      and t.obj# = i.bo#

The predicate: io.owner # = userenv ('SCHEMAID') is that which limits the output to the current user.
If you can connect with a login adapted, you could create another view that eliminates this predicate, perhaps adding to the selection in the io.owner list #, or even join user$ on io.owner # u.user = #, for example

    select u.name, io.name, t.name,
           decode(bitand(i.flags, 65536), 0, 'NO', 'YES'),
           decode(bitand(ou.flags, 1), 0, 'NO', 'YES'),
           ou.start_monitoring,
           ou.end_monitoring
    from sys.obj$ io, sys.obj$ t, sys.ind$ i, sys.object_usage ou, sys.user$ u
    where i.obj# = ou.obj#
      and io.obj# = ou.obj#
      and t.obj# = i.bo#
      and u.user# = io.owner#

  • Migration to exadata - DB_BLOCK_SIZE

    Hello
We plan to move our DWH, 5 tera 11 GR 2 database running on a Linux machine rac exadata 1/4.
We are running with 32 K block size.
Our statements must use FTS, and index number is low.
We want to get your advice if we stay with the size of 32K block on the exadata machine or install on exadata database machine with 8K block size.

    Thank you

If you are able (have the time and resources available), test the 8 KB and 32 KB would be the best thing.

I've never tested (all my clients use 8 KB blocksize), but I'd be surprised if 32 KB would make much difference in performance.

So if you have the opportunity, I would stick with 8 KB on exadata.

  • Need help on design for 2 EBS with RAC environment

    Hi all

We currently have 4 servers with 256 GB of RAM, 1 TB HDD and 8 cores. Our requirement is to configure two EBS 12.1.3 with DB RAC environment. We want to take advantage of these 4 server to accommodate the two EBS since the configuration of the server (application server 2 with HA and 2 DB for RAC servers) are quite high, because the concurrent users on each EBS are not more than 200.

So our problem is as below:

Say we have these server 4A, B, C and D. We have 1 create multi instance node, with DB on server A & B (CARS) and application on the server C & D. Now if we want to install the second case, with the same architecture on the same servers that we do.

    (1) use the same grid infrastructure and create DB for 2nd instance cluster even. (how?)

    (2) install another grid infrastructure and create totally another cluster for this instance.

You can do the following for a case of BSE, and perform similar operations for a 2nd on the same grid. Check after the link. He detailed information EBS on RAC Setup

I can't find any other relevant document where there are performance problems and possible solutions.

I'm sure that the people would have taken this path... ghoulish someone please provide input as to what measures we should take to make sure that we don't encounter unforeseen problems.

    Know your opinion.

I'm not aware of important performance issues at the top of the 12.1.0.1 of database with R12, and I believe that if you apply all the patches in the following docs, then you should be good. If you have specific concerns, please do not hesitate to share with us.
