Editable region can only be changed in Code view

I recently upgraded to CS5 and launched a new site today (first one I built from scratch in CS5). As usual, I built a model. In this model, I did two editable regions. The first is a div called PageContent. I did the whole div editable. It goes the same for the sidebar DIV. When I create a new page in this model I can change only the editable code view areas. I get the symbol "unauthorized" in Design view.

The page is fully editable in CS3 in design mode.

To facilitate the display of code from that page is http://Bryant.melanieadcock.com/index.html

CSS is available at http://Bryant.melanieadcock.com/bryantstyle.CSS

No idea... seems to be a software problem. I have updates.

  • File format which can only be changed if reviewed by customers?

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could please tell me how to save a file HAVE so that no one can change the content?  I need to show a person something I designed, I don't want it to be editable, but I want to preserve the high resolution, etc..  I tried to save it as a JPEG and reopened the case in artificial intelligence, but I managed to change it, and all edges was shredded, even if I deselected "smoothing".  Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you!

In general, you would Save A Copy as PDF without the option of maintaining Illustrator Edtiability in the dialog box to save the PDF file to send to a client to review.

Such a PDF can be opened in Illustrator, but the content will be "dumbed down" of simple objects. not native AI content. Very cumersome to work with.

If you do not really trust your customer... Well... you need a new customer. Beyond, pixelation, as you did by exporting as a JPEG file is an obvious option because it warns the recipient being able to edit the objects in the file, because there is no objects; It's just a raster image. But JPEG is a lossy compression format that adds ugly artifacts.

I don't want it to be editable, but I want to preserve the high resolution, etc.

You can export any resolution raster image you want. If the goal is just to review, an image of the screen-res is often suitable. If you want the Viewer to be able to zoom in to read the body of the text, etc, then just decide how much zoom you want them to have and your resolution of rasterization of figure.

If you don't have a copy of Acrobat Pro, you should get an and become familiar with it. You can lock a PDF file. It is not protected from serious thieves, but should suffice in most cases.

I tried to save it as a JPEG and reopened the case in artificial intelligence, but I managed to change it

If you export a JPEG file, then the JPEG format, no, you were not able to edit the document in the sense of editing the objects of IT. The JPEG format is just a raster image. If you open it in a raster imaging program (Photoshop, etc.), then, of course, you can change the pixels. It is far from a native file editing to HAVE.

and all of the edges have been shredded, even if I deselected "smoothing".

You seem to be back on your understanding of "smoothing". 'Aliasing' is in staircase building staircase inherent to raster images. Think of it this way: a raster image using pixels stairs to pretend (as an ' alias'), a diagonal border. "Anti-aliasing" is an algorithm that "blurs" edges pieces to cover up irregularities.

  • Editable region model

I have a site driven by a model - with several hundred files below. Wonderful - can save a lot of time - UNTIL - I found that I did a small typo error in a javascript menu bar in one of the editable regions - only, I discovered this AFTER I had developed all the dependent files. Now I can't change the correction and publish it to ALL the files of dependants - OR what I CAN? Naturally, I don't want to have to enter and individually change EACH single file so I can avoid it!
    Can anyone help?

    > OR WHAT I CAN?

Your only hope is to follow this procedure-

    1. write yourself a big NOTE which says - never use templates with more of
about 100 child pages. Strongly consider using server-side includes when you
    navigate beyond the 50-file mark.
    2. write yourself an another big NOTE which says - never put your navigation
elements in editable regions. Consider using server-side includes for
your navigation if you use templates or not.
    3. use search and replace to the level of the site to find the current typo and replace
    with the text desired.
    4. write yourself an average rating that says that all - javascript menus
are Rogue Devil and should be avoided.

    Now, you're all set. 8)

  • Change Security Code

I have a BT Home Hub 4 connected by radio to my lap top. I could change the admin. Password.

However, I can't change the security key Code. Every time I enter a new key Code and click on apply, I get a screen message "are you sure". I click Yes and lose the internet connection. Also comes with an Ethernet connection.
The wireless network adapter is up to date and work correctly.
So right now, I can only use the key Code manufacturer default. Any ideas please?
    Thank you, wicket T.

Odd. Do you mean does not change the key, or after its change you get cut?

I just got a HH4 and allowed me to change the key, so I don't think it's a "characteristic of the system' (as BT can call :-)).)

Have you tried to reset the HH4 and leave? http://BT.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/11386/~/how-do-i-reset-my-BT-Home-hub-to-its-factory-settings%3F

You can get a better response in the forums of BT, if you have not already tried it. http://community.BT.com/

Something which possibly might affect it (I don't know but his is worth a quick look) is that I noticed that there is an option check for ' Sync with 2 .4GHz: ' (use the same wireless SSID and the 2.4 GHz wireless key) you are changing one but not the other?

Success counters are usually the worst way to do this. The best way is to

  • Can't change an editable region

    Hello

  • After applying a template to a page, the design mode is empty - I can change only in code view.

When I apply a template to a page, it's fine. I can see the elements of the page in design view and code view. I can edit the page and upload it and everything is fine. However, when I save the page under a new name or close the page and then reopen the design mode is empty, the code mode is normal. I would like to be able to see the page in design view and cannot. I don't know what to do. I hope someone has an idea for me. Thank you.

I use PS CS5 and pages are ASP.

I was opening a page, then application of a model (dwt) him - then ' record as. I now create a page that you mentioned, and that's fine. I saved and closed and then reopened and things are visible in Design view. It will take a while to redo this page and others - but it seems that it will work. I had hoped to just apply the template (I thought that I had done it a while ago), but perhaps it does not work. ?

    Once again thank you.

  • Can spry menu cause editable regions?

Hello. I have two questions menu spry that I hope someone can answer:

    1. I use a horizontal menu spry in my template for my navigation bar (pictured below). But I would like to make the "Menu" tab Middle an editable, so that I can change its destination of links on certain pages of the subsites. Is this possible? I tried to insert an editable region in the spry, but Cree Dreamweaver warnings against me and, when I went anyway, the navigation bar broke out on my pages.

    narBar example.png

    2. I want to only the 'Previous' and 'Next Page' tabs to display on some subpages (and maybe to hide tab "Menu" way). I do not think that an optional region will work in the spry, so I tried just type the new tabs on each side of the menu spy. But, once again, Dreamweaver got mad at me and broke my navigation bar.

Any suggestions on how I can either work around? Or sprys are not otherwise flexible? I was wondering if I could create two different navbars and make the two optional regions, but still, I don't think it's possible.

Thanks to all those who can help you.

    Hmm.

I've never considered part of an editable Spry menu bar, but you can do it. Simply ensure that you delete it or don't overlap the necessary code, and I think the submenus will be problematic.

When you want to change a menu item, do it in code view, and then select all the contents of the list item:

  • Point 1.1
  • This way, you will be able to change the link and the text of the item...

If Dreamweaver warns you that you are working in a block element, don't you worry about this. You know, and it won't hurt anything in this case.

There will be other ways to build local versions of the menu. If you need the submenus, you must remember to add some class designations, which you certainly can do it if you're careful. I personally would opt for several different menus controlled from the style sheet. It would be a bit more complicated, but then you don't have to remember to go to all the pages to set the menu. I don't know your project, so I couldn't say if it would be a great loss of time or useful. If you were to use the same menu on several pages, it can be useful. If each page is different anyway, make your way!

    In addition:

I did a modifiable menu item and the code looks like this: each editable region will have its own name.

    Hi kuentin,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    (1) - what do you mean you have only 1 user account?

When you set up Windows, you will need to create a user account. This account is an administrator account to allow you to set up your computer and install any programs that you want to use. And that's why the user account you are using is the administrator account.

There is no way that you can create an administrator account, or by using a Standard account.

    (2) are you having issues during installation of the software or opening it?

    (3) what exactly happens when you try to open the software application?

    (4) should be codes error or error messages, if any?

    (5) what software are you trying to install or open?

  • How can I change the appearance of the characters hidden in the code view?

I'm talking about DW CC 2014.

    Use unicode characters

    U + 00 has 0 (nonbreaking space)
    and
    U + 202F (narrow nonbreaking space)

Well, I don't want to use entities for several good reasons. These reasons should not be the subject in this thread.

When I turn on "Show hidden characters" U + 00 to 0 is shown as a "°" in light grey.

U + 202F appears independent of "see hidden characters." It is presented as a small black square with a cross inside.

The font that I use in the code view is 'Source Code Pro', but the choice has no effect on what I'm talking about.

If you want to reproduce this, you can just choose the wikipedia unicode characters:
    https://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitespace_character

In the big picture, fourth column.

    Two questions:

    1

How can I do DW to hide the U + 202F, when I disable "Show hidden characters"?

What are the config files in DW 'hack' that, please?

    2

    How can I change the layout of U + 00 a 0 and U + 202F?

What are the config files in DW 'hack' that, please?

Example: I would like to choose a different location for U + 202F because the "small square with the cross inside' is intrusive. It makes reading difficult.

Thanks a lot for your help.

If a developer or something from adobe reads this thread. Please take my question as a desire to feature for future versions of DW.

This is a quality characteristic, when different types of spaces are supported.

Some of these spaces are very important for a typography exzellent.

I'm sure that someone knows how special characters are handled in Dreamweaver, but if it is controlled by an editable file or hidden deep in the bowels of the software, only an Adobe engineer is likely to know.

Public information on the integration of media in Dreamweaver are in this blog post from Dreamweaver: next generation of Dreamweaver: Adobe Dreamweaver Team Blog.

I feel that the idea is to combine the best features of media with Dreamweaver. As the blog post suggests, there will be a public beta. When that happens, people will have the opportunity to say what they do and don't like. If enough people make the compelling case for X or Y, there is a chance it could be implemented (or maybe not).

  • Can I change the code in the css files

When I learned HTML, back in 1999, I learned to make my website in Notepad. After that, I bought Dreamweaver and using since ending with the very old Dreamweaver 4.1 is I think or something like that. No CSS at all. Using this ancient DW, could change the code anywhere right in the code view or by using Notepad.

With this new DW, can I change the CSS of this part by typing my code here and the code of the edit page?

    Deb

With the help of a model can be a good starting point because it gives you ideas that you can adapt. The problem with using a model is that the CSS may be complicated or badly written.

A solution that many people find useful is to obtain a model of project seven (PVII). They are not cheap, but they are of very high quality. I did use a PVII model for many years, but they used to come with detailed instructions on how they work and what to change. I imagine that they always do.

On the other hand, if you want to learn to do yourself, the best approach is to experiment. A very good free resource for learning CSS is CSS-tricks. If you find lessons learned useful videos, CSS course by James Williamson on lynda.com are excellent. You need a subscription to watch courses on lynda.com, but you can get a free 10 day trial which gives you access to all the courses (I think there are about 4 000 in total). Disclosure: I'm an author of lynda.com, so my vision of the quality may not be impartial.

Regardless of the approach you take, be prepared to make regular efforts. I started to develop websites more than 20 years, in the early days of the web. It is still a young technology and is developing at a rapid pace. I'm still learning, and I realize that I only started to scratch the surface. When I started first of all, it was common to do everything yourself. Nowadays, many people specialize in one area because it became impossible to know everything.
