Editing the text in InDesign CS3

I am trying to edit text in an older InDesign file.  When I try to edit the text, the text cursor changes places pointed outside delimiter to a round and I can't select or change the type.  What is the change in the appearance of the average slider and how to change the text?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

This could explain why the tool moves to type on a path. ID think that you want to add more text on the lines. If the file has been saved with the text you entered, you're sol save a version of type without a modifiable version is about criminal (and we will not go into why you should describe the text initially).

  • Editing the text in all PDFs

    Hello

    I am very new to Acrobat and try to edit text in some of my documents, but can't seem to be able to do. I use Acrobat X Pro and I use the tool "Edit the text of Document", but the cursor does not change its text editing cursor. I tried to open other documents in PDF format and it seems that I am able to edit the text in PDF files, but not the text in others. For that I'm editing, I did the function of "recognize text." I can highlight text and even look in the document for some words, but can't seem to change the text. I can choose the text to delete or put a comment in them, but still can not delete a few words/letters & retyping.

    It's really frustrating, because these documents are the only reason why I wanted to Acrobat X - if I can edit a few words on them.

    Help, please!

    Unfortunately, it is hidden by default in Acrobat 10. To access the preflight check, click Tools, and then you will see a very small icon/button in the upper right of the Panel. Click on it and select 'Print Production' in the menu dropdown. The printing Panel opens and you can select the preflight. The document open, select the "Embed" fonts in the list of 'Corrections PDF' and click 'Analysis and fix' button at the bottom right.

  • How to place an image inline with the text using InDesign CS4?

    I'm writing the first draft of an instruction manual how two for some software.

    I'm writing the manual directly in InDesign CS4 and making screen shots that I'm making progress. I format the screenshot in Photoshop and export it to a JPG file.

    In InDesign, I double-click in the text box where I want to insert the image, go to file > place, get the picture, then press on open.

    Usually InDesign inserts the image at the cursor flashing in the text, but sometimes what happens is that no picture inserted and everything after it disappears. I get several empty text boxes and need to Control-Z to get back to where I started.

    Now I can put the image outside the text box and then manually move it to the text where I want to go, however when I export the file as HTML, then I need to manually move it to the appropriate area in Dreamweaver (when the image is placed inside the text box to the flashing cursor, the HTML file shows the image in the right place).

    I was able to insert the line in file with the text to a new paragraph mark, but sometimes InDesign doesn't let me do. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

    I don't know what I'm doing to prevent it from placing the paragraph mark and the blinking cursor (which is where I want it to appear).

    This is a recording of screen 54sec of my actions:

    http://storytechnician.com/temp/idcs4-place/

    Steps to follow:

    I double-click inside the text box

    I place the image

    everything goes

    I have a few pages scroll, and then return to the starting point

    I have to scroll through a page or double-click inside the text box then press return a few times, and the previous image, I put in this way is automatically pushed to the next page.

    I go back to point of original departure, try again, and it does not work.

    I've done it before, but now it does not work. I don't know what's happened prevents him from online to the location of the cursor.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

    It seems to me that the image is too wide for the frame. You can place it on the editing table, scale in the size, then cut to the Clipboard and paste it into the flow of the text.

  • Change the headers and footers in the 'manual' Template InDesign CS3

    First of all, I would like to apologize if this is the 100th thread started on this.  I tried, in vain, for the answers, I need and I'm at my wit's end.

    I'm quite new with InDesign, so I opted for the model 'Manual.indt' create my manual.  My manual will make about 35 pages before adding images.  I was able to put the text where I want it, but I can't understand how to change the 'LOREM IPSUM' that occurs in what I assume is the header area which includes page numbers.  I played a bit with the display of frames and notice that there's a dotted line instead of a continuous line frame, but I have no idea what it means.

    I have read the help manual and followed the instructions to make a header, but I was not able to make the changes I need.  Maybe I shouldn't be in the header, but I don't know.

    Also, on page 2 in the middle of the right column, a part of the text has this light gray background behind it and I can't understand how to apply the text I would it effect. I tried to copy and paste, but it doesn't work. Please help me edit this template and create this manual!1.jpg2.jpg

    A line dotted around the Lorem Ipsum indicates that it is on the Master Page. Edit/gain access to a master page have the pages Panel and double-click on the icon of master page located towards the top of the Panel.

    If you are unable to select the area of the gray box, it's probably a net of paragraph. These are commonly used for underlining text, but can also been thickened upwards and compensate to appear as a box behind the text.

    To add a rule above or below a paragraph, select the text, choose nets of paragraph from the paragraph Panel menu or the control panel menu, and enter the appropriate options in the dialog box.

I added the event listener and the doAutoSave () function.  This version, I have "trial" activate only before I save the value.  But my eventlisteners do not work. any eventlistener I he saves as soon as the Document is opened, if a change has been made or not.

    if ( t2-t > 1000 )  {
      t = t2;
      doc.save();
      }
      }
      var myIdleTask = app.idleTasks.item("autoSave");
    if ( !myIdleTask.isValid ) {
      myIdleTask = app.idleTasks.add({name:"autoSave", sleep:100});

    I have also provided a script months ago that was able to detect changes in stories so it can show a number of characters 'real time '. so if you find this message, you will see how you can merge the two.

  • editing the text in the string does not change the distorted text!

    I have the text in a basic text box. I applied a string in base to give a higher arc. Okay, now I want to change the size of the text.

    I select the text and reduce the size of text in the character palette - nothing happens.

    I double click on text box that isolates the text, double click again to select the text, drag to select all the text, then reduce the size of the text in the character palette. the Red preview reduced but when I click, the distorted text is always the same size as before!

    I'm sure that just by clicking on the text and by reducing the size of the text (in the character palette) worked before...

    Try the object > envelope distort > edit content.

    The size can be changed by editing the envelope (the text is always dimensionnera to the size of the envelope.

  • Background color for the text in InDesign

    Hey there ' All! I use InDesign CC 2014 and I need help!

    So I do a quick reference guide that contains headers that are color coded. Changes in content in this guide based on what product it is inserted, if I want to have these headers to be mobile. Normally I would just make a text box color that I need, but it is a GREAT text with a lot of text box.

    I tried the shape with the color of my anchor header, but then my head disappeared. Court to reorganize spacing each time, what can I do to make sure I'm not have in order to align the text in the header of the boxes any time there is a change? IOW, I want these colored boxes to move with the text. For example, using the chart below, if I add a number 3 to my disengaging Cruise Control, I don't want to have to respace AUTOPILOT and move the colored area. Make sense? I hope so. Thanks for any help!

  • Reverse the text in InDesign

    How the color of the text reverse when it is in front of a different color?
    That is to say white text turn black when it passes through an area of white.
    Is there a way to create this effect in InDesign?

    You can do this in several ways: depends on what you want to do.

    Character styles (you play with color and underline).

    Anchored frame ("overlay" effect (French version)).

    A way that I like:

    You want, for example, treat the words in the text, and you want to do it quickly.

    You insert a grep style in your paragraph style. For example:

    I use a small [Javascript] that, once the selected Word inserts, before and after, both markers defined in grep style. Your Word is instantly processed (with a thin space before and after).

    You can also use it to treat the same word (for example, home') in the batch with a regular expression:

    Research: Home

    Replace: ~.<>

    Enjoy!

  • Editing the text in the pdf

    Am, change the text in a full color book large pdf file of 296 pages.  Each page has a mix of text and images-I can edit text on each page, but on some pages that the text edit tool won't let me select the text I want to change - as if it isn't there and is considered to be an image, despite the fact that is a separate text box - can not understand why I can easily edit text which is next , but not the text of a few centimetres more far overall. Am baffled by this.  Attached jpg to show WORLD SWORDS PRACTICE FILE 180.jpg layout of the book.

    It the tool select text does not work, then it is not text. You really do want to be change the text in a pdf file if it can be avoided at all. It's just a problem ticking. It's ALWAYS better to edit the original document and then regenerate the file. If there are customizations with the buttons and fields that you do not regenerate, so you can replace the old page of the PDF with the new page as a new pdf and avoid all the problems that come with editing text.

  • Editing the text in an image

    How can I edit text in an image without changing the font or colors?

    Hey there mike-tram!

    Well, if you do want to change the font or colors in your image, you can change the size and position of your text.

    This is a picture I have with a text layer. Right now, I don't like the direction or text size.

    First of all, I need to select the text layer. In your layers below Panel, select the text layer.

    Select the text tool in the toolbar below show.

    By highlighting the text of my text layer with my text tool, I can change the size of my text.

    In the toolbar above with the type tool selected, you can see a place to change the size, as shown below. I'll change the size from 150 to 72pts here.

    The size of the text below, is now smaller than 72pt.

    To change the posistion of your text, select the tool moving, as shown below.

    With the move tool, you click and drag where you want the text to be located. You see, below, that I moved it to the center of my image.

    I hope that answers questions you may have. Below I've included videos that show MORE options with the modification of the text.

    enjoy,

    the text box in the Muse leaves me no xhange the wording of the menu option

    The text in the menus can only be changed directly if you have the type of menu set to manual, otherwise you will need to change the names of the pages themselves in the view plane.

  • Editing the text in the text captions

    If a text caption is selected as an object (the handles are showing), a double click on the text of the legend gives an insertion of text so that the text can be changed. It also opens the properties panel. Y at - it a shortcut keyboard or another workaround to get the insertion of text without having to open the properties panel at the same time?

    Select the legend, and then press the F2 function key. This will place the cursor in the text of the legend and it will not open the properties panel.
