Effects of blackBerry Smartphones of the option "Wipe Handheld"

I am a new user with a Curve 8330 refurbished.  I need wipe contacts of the former owner, addresses, photos, etc. of the device.  I find the option "Wipe Handheld" under Security--> General Settings Options.  My question is whether this action only deletes the data entered by the user or will also remove all complete applications that have been installed by my company.  any thoughts?

The option to wipe Handheld only deletes user data, not applications. Is that if you select the option to include the 3rd party applications.

Clean your device remotely, then call your carrier to cancel your SIM card if you do not download charged for anyone else using your phone.

To restore the data on your phone, use the BlackBerry Protect restore option or the same option available in BlackBerry Desktop Software.  It will be easy to do using one of data backups, you did.  Make backups of data by one of these methods already, I hope?

Hello and welcome to the community!

I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

    • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior continues, then well... think what happened just before this behavior started? A new application? An update? A theme? Something else? Think carefully that the slightest change can be causal... and try to undo all that was.

But if the behavior continues mode without failure, you may need to consider more drastic measures - WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload and the process of reloading OS 'skeleton '. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup of your PC... Please see the Backup link in my sig auto on this post for instructions.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones do a security wipe and now cannot set up my email!

    Hello

I did a security wipe on my Blackberry Bold 9900. I managed to restore everything, however I can't seem to configure my email address (which is a Yahoo address). I get the error message that it has not been possible to connect to the server.

I also raise a problem with my BBM, I am able to send messages, but can't send any to me. This problem also comes after clearing security.

Everything worked fine prior to clearing security.

Hello and welcome to the community!

After an update, I still propose that the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If this isn't the case, then you must seek formal support from your mobile service provider.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones WARNING: Do not wipe your Alpha Dev with early release BB10

    Just a quick warning,

I had to spend BBID on my Dev Alpha running the latest alpha BB10.  The instructions inside BB10 advise you to do a security wipe.  DO NOT do this.

Life Dev Alpha at the beginning, you can enter a problem when you have a secure erase.  This has caused your device is unusable, and you had to install drivers and force a debrick manually.  This trick WILL NOT work on the alpha version of BB10.

With the Alpha BB10, make a secure erase deletes all your applications and access to these applications.  It also removes the options and settings screens.  It removes access to everything other than the browser.  Try to start the option screens in any method of causes a failure like the application options can not be found.  It stops also send USB signals, which means that the Device Manager / application loader can not detect a USB device at all.

The application loader custom RIM will reject any connection USB with an unrecognizable PIN (your PIN is not passed when it is blocked like that).  This prevents the it to your Alpha Dev rewipe.  In addition, Blackberry Desktop Manager (who will recognize as a dead BB device) will attempt to reinstall the OS so that your Dev Alpha turns off.  However, as we know, the BDM cannot actually move to the BONE.  Which means that it will not work.

I haven't checked with Dingle Bay to see if I can manually get the OS to an earlier version, but this is probably the only way to save your Alpha Dev with BB10 and a secure erase Insider.  Will post here updates as needed.  I have just this Chuck in a box and ignore it, but my 64 GB PB also died this week (out of battery power). I don't want to send "RIM" for repair, because they will out simply swap with a new stock, and I want to keep the data on the hard drive.  Because of the way that the battery works with the motherboard, make a backup is not easy with a dead battery.

    See you soon,.

    Ed.

    My mistake, double post.

  • BlackBerry smartphones RECEIVES the MAILS to FOLDERS other than Inbox

    Hello world

I have this problem that I'm trying to work around. On my yahoo mail, I've created rules for certain categories of emails coming. These rules to move messages that meet the criteria for folders that I created.

Now I have yahoo mail configured on my blackbery device but not to receive emails from other folders. All I get is emails that appear in my main Inbox folder.

Through the settings on my phone and can't find an option or a setting that can help me solve this problem.

    Ideas anyone?

    * I'm using BIS service

    Hello

using BIS, it's the processing order:
    1 your Y! mail server receives e-mails
2 your Y! mail server applies the rules
3 your Y! mail server sends messages from the Inbox to your server of BIS
4 your BIS server sends the emails to your BlackBerry smartphone

Therefore, there is no way to do what you want using Yahoo!.

I can suggest you see if it is possible to have the rules applied subsequently (I don't think it's possible with the electronic mail of Yahoo!).

If you want to automatically move messages into folders and have them on your device, you must use an e-mail provider that allows it. To this day, I know Microsoft Exchange can (in a corporate environment) and Google Mail (because the records are considered labels).

HI and thanks for your e-mail... Yes, we use a blackberry enterprise server server... but anyway

I tried many different methods without success. Finally, I found a solution.

    It's the recets:

    (1) create a backup of Office Automation in the desktop client

    (2) wipe the blackberry device

    (3) Re-install the account in the blackberry device

    (4) restore the backup of the office... but PreAttetion here! way in advance... one by one the various option in the list of control... because when I tried to do a restore complete (all at the same time) the problem were the same

I don't know if there is a better alternative... but in this case, it was very good.

  • Switching devices blackBerry Smartphones using the Desktop Manager

I just got my Torch 9800 replacement since my first only the battery was drainning (apparently a common problem).

Until I returned my old Torch 9800 I backed up and also used the device switch option in Desktop Manager. When it asked me to connect the new device, I unplugged the old camera, he took to the shop orange and then plugged my new camera.

Then an error has occurred and asked me to update the software on the new device. I did it... and then when I use switching devices, it asks me to connect the current device but the problem is... I don't have the camera more.

As I backed up all the data, I did a restore. He restored most of the data, but it has not restored my apps.

Any idea on how I can do?

I hope it is interesting all that.... and I get a better battery life this time!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Ah... never mind. While the device switch Wizard can indeed move a few apps, the backup/restore process does not have applications. So, in the State you are in, you must go to the source of your applications and re - get them. If you by AppWorld, the process is very smooth:

    • KB17625 How to install or transfer has already purchased apps from BlackBerry App World for BlackBerry smartphone

If you have from other sources, then you should see if these sources are a simple way for you. I hope you have good record of all your activation keys... and some will indeed have to be regenerated some developers to attach the key on the BB SPINDLE, which is now different since you have a new device.

    Good luck!

  • SOS Urgent of blackBerry Smartphones ~ having a Pocket wipe now see application required kernel message

OK, the scenario is as follows. I have a storm 1 (i.e. do not use to others to have a SIM Pay As You Go in there) I'm giving away. Before doing so, I did a wipe handheld by going to advanced option > security options > wipe etc. to bring the handset to the factory settings (or so I thought). Before this rag, I had OS v5 on the device, but missed me the browser and configure the e-mail configuration settings. So to get this right, I decided to downgrade the OS to version 4.7, then reinstall the v 5 but on decommissioning that I now see on DM message to Applications of BB base for version 4.7. But the Basic Application component is not highlighted for me to download. So I then try to download the v5 and receive an error message saying that I need to be an active user of blackberry to get this upgrade. This isn't something I've seen before and when I 'x' out of it I'm still able to get to the download screen and it looks like I'm getting the download through the DM, but then at the end of the process understand same Core required Applications.

So after all this babble question is how can I get this device back to the State it was in when I bought it. That something has obviously gone disastrously wrong somewhere and I can't fix it.

And another question what would happen if I deleted everything that is said to be installed on the BB to the DM so that I could make a clean re-installation. Is that feasible?

J_Klass, you did it the right way. Wipe the appliance will remove books from the device that enabled the internet browser and the configuration of the e-mail. When a new user/owner registers the device on their service provider, they will earn the e-mail configuration icon and internet browser.

Hello and welcome to the community!

I suggest the following, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If any stage does not properly complete, proceed to the subsequent steps will be useless... and you will need to contact your mobile provider for formal support. It's their network that your BB is unable to communicate with, after all.
