Email to Smartphones blackBerry & browser

Hi all

I'm new to RIM devices and would kill my Nokia E61i and buy a BB "BOLD" instead of him. But I have a problem maybe little: I use a service provider that do not support push-mail services. Most of the time, I use my cell phone to write emails to Germany and other European countries.

As far as I have read some tests and produces leaves the 9000 "BOLD" is a fast software and web oriented mobile device.

Anyway... my questions are:

1. can you use IMAP instead of Push-Email with the Blackberry Bold?

2. the BB able to perform 'smart' GSM/UMTS/WLAN switches or what I owe this preset?

3. some testers say 9000 "BOLD" needs a lot of time to open internet sites (even with HDSAP or UMTS)-is this true?

Sorry if some questions were answered in other threads. I tried searching but did not receive the necessary results.

Thank you for responding.

Kind regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel and welcome on the blackberry Forums

1. can you use IMAP instead of Push-Email with the Blackberry Bold?

Yes

2. the BB able to perform 'smart' GSM/UMTS/WLAN switches or what I owe this preset?

Yes, for example, if you set the wifi for your home and you have wifi, turn on and you leave the House, when you return, the wifi connect automatically.

3. some testers say 9000 "BOLD" needs a lot of time to open internet sites (even with HDSAP or UMTS)-is this true?

No, but depends on what is the fort of the signal when you download something.

    Question... ish

Since I've updated my Blackberry last night to the latest version (plugged into my computer for the first time since mid-January) I had a problem with my Blackberry browser. He seems to have changed and only use the MediaNET browser now. All I know is that I hated the MediaNET browser in the past, and I loved the Blackberry browser before I updated my phone. I can't put more reuters.com as my home page.

How can I fix this and restore my browser to the way she was before the update?

    Hello vinitoblue,

Welcome to the community of BlackBerry Support Forums.

To specify the browser you use on your BlackBerry smartphone go to Options > Advanced Options > browser. Under the default browser configuration, select Internet browser.

    Thank you

can anyone help, pls? Thank you

Open your BlackBerry browser > press the Menu key > Options > Cache and clear your browser's cache (you can even clear the cookies as well, same place).

Now do another reboot (turned on, battery pull, etc.)

  • Interference of Email of Smartphones blackBerry with Outlook calendar

Having replaced just my Treo with a Blackberry Tour, I am new on the Blackberry and this forum.  If I write in the wrong forum, or if my question has been answered before, please point me in the right direction.

One of the first things I did was to get my Treo calendar in Outlook, then get the BB to synchronize with Outlook.  Everything worked well.

I then added an email account @vzw.blackberry.net.  A few days later, when I tried to sync with Outlook, a whole bunch of my calendar appointments are removed from Outlook.  Even when I set up the synchronization to replace all data in Outlook, I found myself with appointment my BB which were not in Outlook.  When I looked at the details of the meeting, the top line has an entry "synchronize with."  Nominations that backed up specified Synchronize, otherwise, those who didn't get saved of the Synchronize said on vzw.blackberry.net.  If there was a way to change the target to ' sync to ', I find.

So I deleted the e-mail of my BB account.  I have synced again and everything worked fine.  The details of the appointment is no longer display an entry ' synchronize to.

Can someone explain what is happening?

Before you do anything this either, that I recommend making a backup of the device.  That way if something is wrong you can recover your data.

You do one of two things.  Once configure you the email on the device, you can go to Options > Advanced Options > Book Service and remove the maintenance book which said: "your [email protected] [CICAL]" which will remove the e-mail address of the calendar.  Don't forget that if never return you service directories (or your provider), you will need to delete it again.  The other thing you can do is to 'move' to all calendar events.  In the Calendar Options where it lists "Default" and "@vzw.blackberry.net" just type the letters m-o-v-e and it will change the appointments of the default base for the calendar calendar of @vzw.blackberry.net.

    Then try the synchronization again.

  • Smartphones blackBerry browser icon goes to the email settings

I had trouble getting my emails to go to my BB.  In trying to fix this, it seems that I've changed something with my browser icon.  When I click on it - it takes me to the e-mail settings screen.

A strange thing about this - I can't click Cancel to get by.  I have to click on goodbye.

    Any ideas?

    Two options

1 reset the device with the phone turns on, remove the battery for 30 seconds and reinstall again.

2-reset the theme, go to menu, options, theme and default reset

Hello and welcome to the community!

Since you're on BES, you really should work with your BES admin... they have a lot of things and it is possible that they apply an expiration that you aren't aware of the control.

  • Email to Smartphones blackBerry & Wifi - overseas

    Hello!

I'm about to head overseas and must take my blackberry with me for calls/texts. I have currently push my emails on my BB but wonder if you can assign so even if the phone is turned on - emails will only check if connected to a Wifi hotspot or if there is some kind of send and receive some option? I'm still to upgrate to "BOLD", but it's my plan...

Basically, I don't want huge roaming charges, but want to be able to check my mails when connected to wifi...

Thank you in advance for your help!

It's true.  Data services refers to any BlackBerry data such as browsing, e-mail or application data.  Make sure prior to activation of your services data that you're connected to Wi - Fi.  If you want to make sure that no data is delivered through your connection to the Mobile network, disable it before you activate your data services.

Its a bit of a workaround heavy but it will certainly do the trick!

  • Email of Smartphones blackBerry post software update problems

    Morning

I'm having problems to make my mails to work as a result of the last update of software 6.0 Bundle 2949 - my passwords, which I enter correctly request the implementation of e-mail and all I get is sorry, unable to continue your session. Please log in again.

I tried a hard reboot and still no joy.

Thanks in advance for your help

OK... so I suggest that the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) remove and return Service directories

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If this isn't the case, then you should contact your provider of wireless services for formal support.

    Good luck!

  • Emails from Smartphones blackBerry via Wifi

    Hello

I have a BB 9700. I live on the Seychelles and the packing of BB here is very very expensive. I'm looking for a solution to receive my emails (not necessary even push, traction would be enough) through my WATER at home. According to my investigation, I discovered the following

-To be able to receive emails on my BB, I always need to sign for the package of BB. Is this correct?

-My BB will always look for the faster connection. So if WIFI is available, it will go for the Wifi. Is this correct?

This means, I can sign up for BB package in order to receive emails. I would use the dataplan then not to receive emails. I check my email at home through my Wifi and NOT use my very expensive data plan. Yes the TI disadvantage that I pay a monthly fee only to receive my mails via Wifi. Sounds stupid, but I don't understand an alternative.

Is there another possibility? Can I install on my BB to another email program and set up to receive emails by connecting directly to a server pop3 (gmail) and through my Wifi?

    Correct, also.

Sorta OK. While the connection uses the WiFi connection, you always use services of BIS, which provides your month of membership.

It is not really one 'good' other choice, other than access to your Web mail server via WiFi Hotspot browser. Who won't be no pushing or pulling email on your device, you'll just check the Web server. Not a great alternative in my opinion.

    Another option is Funambol.
