Empty file in Windows Media Player

Hello

so, I'm having a problem with this file will not disappear in my Windows Media Player 11. It is empty, I can't do anything with it. I can't delete, play, rate it, edit the information - nothing.

There are no negative effects because it is there (at least), it's kind of annoying. any way to remove it? and how would he had there?

You probably need to reset the library to get rid of this file. To reset the library, follow the instructions for WMP 11 on XP at http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary . Note the reset of the library will make you lose all the counts to play and possibly ratings too. Tim Baets

    Hello

Do you have an error message when you try to play with Media Player AVI files?

Codec is available, the Windows Media Player installed on your computer, and then bed file. However, if the codec is not available on the server (for example, because)

  • Play AIFF files in windows media player

    Hello

I'm reading some AIFF files in windows media player. I get the error message "Windows media player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file."

As WMP supports AIFF files I guess it's a problem with the codec.

Is there a solution out there that I can play the files?

    Cheers, Matt.

Where are the files? Are you sure that they are in the AIFF format?

You can try to install FFDShow . If this does not help, please open some of the files in GSpot , this program will signal the audio codec used in the file. Then, you can report this codec here.

    Hello

Error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:"). »
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported by the player or not supported by the server.
If you encountered this error by clicking a link on a Web page, the link isn't valid.
If you encountered this error by typing a URL in the open URL dialog, try opening the file using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").
The following is a list of protocols supported by the player and the correct URL syntax examples:

    (a) MMS://serveur/nom_fichier (for example, a file with a .wma, .wmv, .asf, or .mp3 extension)
    (b) http://server/filename
    (c) rtsp://server/filename
    (d) mms://server/sami.asf? SAMI = http://server/sami/sami_demo.smi (SAMI file)
If the Player supports the protocol you used in the URL and you can't always read the content, check that the drive is configured to use all of its supported protocols.

    To configure the protocol settings
    (a) in the Player Windows Media, on the Tools menu, click Options.
    (b) in the Options dialog box, on the tab of network in the Streaming protocols area, select all the checkboxes (Multicast, UDP, TCP, and HTTP) Protocol, so that a check mark appears in each.
    (c) note that the supported protocols can be used only to distribute digital media files. Windows Media Player cannot be used as a browser.
If the fixes above don't work, you can rename the folder of information network for the drive so that it can rebuild its information network files after restarting it.
