Ensuring Acceptable Luma and Chroma range for broadcast

Can someone send me in the right direction for the workflow correct and professional for that? I'm usually provide work to other production companies, who handle the final CC for broadcast, but I am concern directly the networks on my current project and have worked in the Open EXR 32-bit so I need to make sure I'm OK when I restart 8 - bit. I specifically need limited 16-235 Luma, Chroma 16-240, which seems pretty standard form my research. The final result is still 32-bit in AE, while I was trying to get all the limits in the right place that I converted down to the delivery of 8 bits. Not sure if this is possible? I'm obviously a little green on the technical aspects of digital color, I have a thought in general familiar with the general concepts...

The main block for me at this point is that all the tools of luma and chroma seem to be measured using the scale of the IRE. Deliverables of individuals that I give are according to the YCC 16-235 scale.

This should help: on a waveform monitor, 16 = 7.5 IRE (the horizontal dotted line) units and 235 = 100 IRE units.

A vectorscope, chrominance levels should remain in the circle when the option bars 75%.

    Question:

    Background:

    I use 10 RoboHelp for Word, generating WebHelp.

    • In IE11, if the end user adds the web site to the compatibility view list, they all appear and function correctly, but my boss is adamant about not wanting the end user having to do anything to solve the problem.
    • In Chrome, I can get a table of contents and a non-functional search to appear if the user turns off JavaScript for the site, but this solution also violates the lists see also in help. Again, made my boss wants to not that the end user to have to do.

    His solution is just to generate using pure HTML, but then the search won't work in IE11 or Chrome (I'm not sure about Firefox). I are based largely on the research, when I'm working on the product, so I really don't want to lose the search function.

  • Re: specification for parameters of the project and the final delivery of the animations for broadcast HD

    Hi all

    I just finished reading the book of techniques of studio by mark christiansen and I have I have some doubts, maybe, someone working on similar projects can help out me, I hope!

    I live in a PAL country and I especially design and animate the graphics in AE with layers of shape, the illustrator files and psd files. I can work in a proyect for broadcast HD tv and some questions and insecurities had crawled in. I would describe who will be I guess than the workflow:

    1 - setting up the project in AE:

    Captura de pantalla 2014-02-14 a la(s) 14.44.19.png

    of course, the working color space should be consistent between applications. Linearize is important, but I Don t well grasp the concept.

    (2) my master composition:

    Captura de pantalla 2014-02-14 a la(s) 14.51.00.png

    Here, the choice of the frame rate should be 25/50 according to the... ? is just a choice if you work with live images of the hd cameras? apply to animations, graphics?

    And last question, which would be the preferred delivery format and the encoding of the file? I know that there is a wide choice, but if you have a set that s works for you and your customers then i´ll be useful.

    Also. If you have an article, you can recommend where there is an explanation very clear be appreciatted, it seems (to me) the deeper you digg I get more confused.

    Thanks in advance!

    You should check with the diffuser. Either they publicly publish their requirements or that they are in a contract. There is not one size fits all here. The best option for the broadcast work is to make a copy almost without loss or loss of your job as a DI (digital intermediate) and then compress the project specifications accurate diffuser using Adobe Media Encoder or another application specifically designed for video compression for delivery. The only time you ever look like an amateur is when you do not ask the specifications. I regularly get the same images different distributors in 6 different formats.

  • Adobe PDF Reader has support for broadcast all rendered document content in a browser?

    Adobe PDF Reader has support for broadcast all rendered document content in a browser? I have to make the document PDF in browsers using the streaming so that the user can see the first pages, while the rest of the pages in the document is loading in the background. Could someone please confirm if this capability of streaming is supported by Adbobe Reader?

    I tried below approach and noticed that the document is not rendered in IE at all (I see a blank page). However, in Chrome, I see the rendering of the document, but the content is not rendered correctly (I mean that some of the content is rendered. In addition, images and tables not is not made properly).

    Code snippet:

    =========

    Response.ClearHeaders ();

    Response.ClearContent;

    Response.ContentType = "application/pdf";

    Response.AddHeader ("content-Transfer-Encoding", "binary");

    Response.AddHeader ("Content-Disposition", "inline; exit = filename"+".pdf");

    Response.AddHeader ("Pragma", "no-cache, no-store");

    Response.AddHeader ("Content-Length", stream. Length.ToString ());

    Response.BufferOutput = false;

    const int bufferLen = 2048;

    ubyte [] buffer = new byte [bufferLen];

    int count = 0;

    While ((count = stream. Read (buffer, 0, bufferLen)) > 0)

    {

    Response.BinaryWrite (buffer);

    }

    Response.End)

    Adobe Reader has very sophisticated support for broadcast in a browser, but using this code, you have disabled.

    Your code offers you the PDF file in one piece - Adobe Reader has no choice other than to accept the piece in the order in which send you it.

    However, if you use a PDF by http URL, and it is optimized for fast web view and it is displayed in the browser window, and the agent viewing is Adobe Reader (usually is not the case with Chrome), then it will launch several requests to the server for the beaches of bytes according to the needs.

    It is theoretically possible for a script to support this, but the script must do a range support full http/1.1 byte, supporting several repeated calls. It's complicated enough that I have ever seen.

    If you can redirect to a URL, it will get done.

  • For dissemination of TVC video bit depth? (and the request for audio levels)

    Bit depth - does anyone know if the export to the maximum depth is a problem to stream TV?

    Export Settings-2.jpg

    I am about to download a TV spot 30 second to Adstream and want to get some feedback on the technical specifications before making, because they charge my client by upload, so no matter what mistake I make costs them.

    I have now a few new options PPCS5.5 and TEA that I didn't have before.

    Also, anyone know the audio level required for broadcasting... When I use Final Cut Pro suites for broadcast, I learned by direct feedack of Adstream it should be less than or equal to-9 dB on the counters.

    Timeline.jpg

    So currently I export the Audition sequence then finalize the audio with the "hard limit" effect to a constant level to-9 dB.

    By the way, if anyone wants to chuck in a few tips general progress be my guest, I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of people experience.

    Don't worry "bit depth".

    Just to confirm, Adstream has accepted the material that has been treated to a 'higher bit depth"without any hitch.

    It's kind of feeling...

    Summarizing my understanding...

    Checking the box next to "make maximum depth" will make the file using all data available for the file color, but will always be 'resigned' (as you say Jim) 8-bit according to the format... (this is exactly what happens if you choose to export to Quicktime h.264 as I do for broadcast). The size of the file to finish a little more grand, that tells me that there is more data (and quality) kept in the final video (as you would expect if you check the box.)

    Here's a snipit of the media info that confirms the final bit depth = 8bits

    Format                                   : AVC

    Format/Info: Advanced Video Codec

    Format profile: [email protected]

    Identifier of the codec/Info: Advanced Video Coding

    Bit rate mode: Variable

    Bitrate: 8 614 Kbps

    Frame rate mode: Constant

    Frame rate: 25.000 fps

    Standard: PAL

    Color space: YUV

    The chroma subsampling: 4:2:0

    Color depth: 8 bit

    Scan type: Progressive

  • Open the URL or file not working in Firefox and Chrome (_blank)

    In Captivate 8, I created an advanced where action if the student clicks on an exit button, we present a web page pop - up in a new tab with an investigation into the matter to our company Web site and also to leave the window that was running the online course.  The problem is that it seems only to create this pop-up window when the student uses MS Internet Explorer.

    We ensured that pop-up blockers are disabled when we tested Firefox and Chrome, but it does not solve the problem.  The PC used to test this did Flash Player loaded on them for Firefox and Chrome.

    I initially had my command output on the same page of action after a number of breaks, so I tried to move later on a different page and added more than action breaks, in which case it was a timing problem.

    Someone there to meet other this problem where to open a URL or a file doesn't seem to work Firefox and Chrome even when no pop up blockers were?

    advancedact.jpg

    I want to Captivate 9, but I can't use this version because they have made some internal changes and now my Javascript does not work properly.  Therefore, I must stay with Captivate 8 until they fix their code base.

    Thank you

    Randy

    These breaks don't do anything. They break just the timeline.

    Your JavaScript does nothing no more. You try to set a Captivate variable called 'cmi.exit' that does not exist. You must use:

    SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("cmi.exit", "suspend");

    You must also set the request of nav:

    SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("adl.nav_request", "suspend");

    If there is a problem with a popup being opened in Flash, I would put everything inside an external function. You can put it in the standard.js

    function myExit()

    {

    SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("cmi.exit", "suspend");

    SCORM2004_CallSetValue ("adl.nav_request", "suspend");

    Window.Open ("url to your survey")

    }

  • First Pro CC export for broadcast HD PAL settings

    Hello

    I'm looking for advice on the best parameters of export to prepare a video for broadcast in the United Kingdom.  I am familiar with the General settings to PAL, but it is the format/codec which I stem.  I looked on the web and on the forum and boards differ greatly.  Many people are suggesting H.264 as the best option to format, but on a recent project, a broadcaster refused to accept this format.  Probably a Quicktime with the H.264 codec would be not just better.  I was recommended a Quicktime .mov with ProRes 422 codec, but it is not available in first (unless I'm missing it!).  Or should I forget about Quicktime and watch a different format?  My images are mostly 2D animated (from Flash).  I used H.264 and Quicktime successfully for YouTube, but the side of things TV confuses me.  I saw advice also apply to the broadcaster, at this stage it is not a, so I want to be able to offer something that is more likely than not to be acceptable.  Thank you.

  • Can anyone advise me on the conversion and submitting CMYK for the first time?   (In a language that is slow and easy to please)

    There is more discussion on this subject (and opinions) that Carter has pills and I have read many of them... but I'm still confused and since I was less than 7 hours to solve this problem, I'm crying out for more help.

    1... I know that I need more to learn about this... but that does nothing my period

    2nd... This is a simple corporate Head-shot that is produced in a print magazine with an article written by my client.

    3rd... The Publisher asked for the photo to be in CMYK mode and since this editor is in the USA, my assumption at this late date is that the standard CMYK color profile - U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 produced by Photoshop is enough.

    I can be on the right track now, but I'm completely side stepping of Lightroom for all editing and staying in Photoshop in Adobe RGB (1998)

    At this time, when I click on view and choose a PROOF, CMYK is selected.  I don't know if it's accurate, or if the selection is premature.

    I plan to complete my edits in PS and then click on IMAGE, click MODE and choose CMYK.           Currently, for my editing process, it is set to RGB

    Hopefully save them as CMYK will be available after changing the MODE, but my save as feature currently available, available only ADOBE RGB (1998).  Also save a copy and a box to include diapers or not.

    Yesterday, when working on this folder, I clicked on the EVIDENCE and CMYK, but I didn't see any difference in the editing...  It maybe because I exported a ProPhoto since Lightroom file as a basis to begin by... I'm not sure, though.

    My concern is as follows... yesterday, I have saved in a CMYK file and it looked fine on my monitor.  I sent it to the customer (I chose the JPG extension) and when she had, the colors were OFF.  She sent the files back to me, and they were indeed average off...  He told me that it was not a matter of calibration of monitor between his PC and mine.   Which brings me to the last question... my monitor is calibrated "to eye" to a company of printer that I use for my regular photography - which worked great!    And unfortunately, at this late date, I can't get a profile of the printer of the editor.

    Thanks for reading all of this... I wonder if my current game plan is sufficient for this late hour...

    No Lightroom

    Edit in Photoshop in ADOBE RGB (1998)

    Keep selection 'PROOF' in CMYK, so that I have change

    At the end of my edit, click MODE and change to CMYK

    Save the file with CMYK to jpg.   (all other types of files are too big for the customer to manage e-mail)

    Am I missing something?

    There are a number of potential problems here, and it may not be at your end.

    First of all, it should be clear that CMYK is not so much a generic "image mode" because it is a description of the specific press conditions. If you produce final CMYK, you need to have the right profile. Do not use Image > Mode, use Convert to Profile.

    Given that, I wonder anyone who does not accept the Adobe RGB photographs for a magazine article, because it involves a process that doesn't is not correctly color generally not up to date and not managed. A typical workflow would today use InDesign, where images are usually placed in their original space of RGB whatever that is. Then the final conversion output CMYK is made as the last step, when you generate a ready PDF to InDesign.

    It helps if you know the final CMYK, because then you can the evidence for that so your file survives the CMYK conversion with the least possible damage (we're talking range cut here, not general color moves). But it is not absolutely necessary, that is why this workflow is relaitively safe.

    Thirdly, CMYK jpeg is itself risky, because several decoders of jpeg (in some software) is not a proper CMYK support. The result can be weird colors. This could well be the problem here, because it sounds as if your customer uses a non-standard workflow.

    So what to do? I would send two files. A sRGB as a reference, which is guaranteed to come out correctly. Then find a way to send TIFF to CMYK version if they insist, or ask them to try to open it in different software. Of course , you should have a calibrated and profiled monitor, but I agree this is probably not the immediate problem here. There is no particular reason that a CMYK file should return to the colors twisted if he opened and processed in color management software correctly.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    I don't know of another good way. But I don't see why you couldn't use this solution. It is the easiest and ellegant solution I've ever seen for flash embedding. And it's really really wide spread. Just open a site mega cool with flash since the greatest players and look in Firebug which load files... and you will see swfobject.as most of the time. To use it, you type really only this line of code:swfobject.embedSWF(myContent.swf, myContent, 800, 600, 9.0.0); and baam! you have flash on your site which takes care of users without javascript, and users with old flashplayer.
