ENVY 14-k124TX: SSD update for more storage (ENVY 14 k)

Hello

I have a 14-k124TX currently Envy and you want to upgrade the disk SSD 128 GB to 500 GB.

The vehicle currently has a samsung mzmtd 128 and I want to use a Samsung 850 EVO series. I opened my laptop and I'm confident on the evolution of Physics in the. I meausred the exsisting SSD and it corresponds exactly with the specifications of the new, so I'm also confident it will fit.

I'm after some advice on

(A) the computer will be able to use the SSD physcally (I'm sure it would but I better check)

(B) what is the best way to transfer the operating system and all my personal files and programs, I would also be able to buy an MSATA USB3 case if necessary.

Thank you in advance, all the tips

Griffin.

(B) what is the best way to transfer the operating system and all my personal files and programs, I would also be able to buy an MSATA USB3 case if necessary.  Download and use the tool to migrate data from Samsung and a usb cable to sata. The transfer will be quick and painless. Let the original SSD in place during execution of the migration and Exchange later in the new Samsung EVO 850.

Thank you in advance, all the tips

I have a Samsung EVO 850 and really like it.

  • SSD update for HP Pavilion dv8338ea.

    Hi HP'ers!

Searched around with no luck. My father upgraded his laptop with an SSD, but I'm not sure if it's a PATA or SATA.

Although I can't find any information about the specs on the machine, the section of the driver revealed he want to "Intel Matrix Storage Manager", which, according to the text, is «...» Intel Serial ATA (SATA)... »

Also (assuming that its SATA) it would work with a 250SSD? Or the size will give problems with the bios etc.?

    Thanks guys = D

The dv8000 series began to have PATA drives, but at one point in the production, they began to install SATA drives. This can actually take 2 hard drives, like the dv9000 series later. The way to know if it's PATA or SATA is to open drive Bay. This is the original SATA (SATA I) but the most recent disks SATA-III will be downclock. There is also a BIOS upgrade that allows him to take Core2 Duo processor and I think also improves some other hardware features and may allow 4 GB of RAM.

You must install this update of the BIOS in Windows XP or Vista... it does not work well if you have installed Windows 7.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

This manual presents the PATA drives. Look on Page 5-8. PATA drives have two rows of pins in brass, as shown in the manual. SATA drives have two black plastic L shaped plugs.

There is such a thing as a PATA SSD, but they cost a bit more per concert. HP never sold a lot of the dv8000 the information available here is a little sparse. They are very strong and robust machines however, and I still sometimes run through a service. With the GeForce Go 7600 graphics, it can easily run Windows 7 or 8 with active Aero.

Any form factor of 2.5 in SATA SSD will work and I recommend a Samsung Evo 850.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820147372&cm_re=Samsung_850_Evo-_-20-147-372-_-product

There is a link for all sizes available on the page. I recommend that at least a 256 and 500 are quite affordable nowadays.

Where do you live? Country only, please. I heard that HP Service centers will perform memory and SSD upgrades on these 'closed' systems but I don't know where all of them or what they would charge. You should be able to find a competent local computer shop to do. It does not put security at risk, but the warranty is not revoked if the work is done properly, without damage to the laptop.

  • HP Pavilion 15 not: SSD update for HP Pavilion 15 laptop

    Hello!

I use PC HP Pavilion 15 Notebok (F6C42PA #ACJ). It came with Win 8.1 pre-installed on a 1 TB HARD drive. I updated the OS to win 10 and now upgrade my HDD to SSD. I was wondering if TS256GSSD370S Transcend and Samsung Evo 850 is compatible with my laptop. Also how to enable AHCI mode? I don't see such an option in the BIOS.

    Thank you.

15 - n203tx is the model. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

The compartment access hard drive appears on p. 59. As you can see, it's a bit more involved.

Don't fall into the trap of overthink. The laptop is in ahci mode and you can not set otherwise. With Windows 10 an SSD will be automatically recognized as such and optimized. Your question only real tech is to get the software on the new SSD. After the back if you need some help with that.

The Samsung Evo 850 is my choice, but the Transcend would work too.

  • SSD update for HP nx9420

I am very satisfied of my computer laptop htough even there a few years. I would like either to increase the capacity of the HARD disk, real is only 40 GB or replace it with a SSD HARD drive kind. Can you help me with suggestions for both options? Also if I replace HARD drive it is necessary to reinstall the operating system or it can be done in a way esier? Thank you!

I also think that these classic HP business notebooks are some of the best laptops ever made. The hard drive is a SATA type (most recent) which means that you can replace it with one of the SSD commonly sold on the market. If you've been do with a disc of 40 gigabytes that you will think that you have died and ascended to heaven, even with a 128 GB SSD and the price of those who now is well under $ 100.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    Pages 5-6 to 5-9.

If you are satisfied with the way in which the laptop is running (any malware or such) so the best thing to do is just to clone the old disk on the new content using a "proportional resize. I use Acronis True Image Home combined with an external SATA to USB connector. Acronis is a disc of starting the program after it is installed on the computer. Use this bootable CD to start the computer and simply run the disk clone with sizing with the SSD connected externally via usb adapter, then swap the drives and enjoy the speed. With Windows 7 there are very little if anything you need to do to ensure that the optimized SSD.

    Here's a SSD I recommend:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820721107

It is an incredibly sweet deal at $71 with shipping for an order of 120 gig.

At this price, you can add the kit to upgrade $ 33 and still come in a little more than $100, which is where you want to be on an older laptop. The kit is all the hardware and software you need to clone the old drive to the new. The software isn't Acronis but does the same thing. Enjoy and good luck.

  • SanDisk ultra II 480 GB ssd update for macbook pro 2009 (5.4)

Hi, this is not a question but just some information that I wanted to let down as I was cultural for this search but could not find any info anywhere here or elsewhere online...

My 6 year old, 250GB internal hard drive died and I decided to replace it with an ssd, after looking at all the options and additional information about compatibility issues, problems of crash/stand etc. I decided (without a clue and fingers crossed) with the sandisk ultra II ssd 480 GB

So far so good, the mac works amazingly fast, no el capitan osx installation problems and no problems with SATA speed negotiation, turns the 3gps. It is like having a brand new computer!

    Conclusion: upgrade 100% recommended

I recently took a similar decision for my Mac Pro Tower silver server, install two 960GB SSD of this manufacturer (Sandisk).

The SATA 3 G bps Bus SATA Mac's limits you to a maximum of about 375 M bytes/second. Although this is a little slower than maximum speed than the SSD applications (on the order of about 500 cases of best M bytes/s), it is still fast enough.

Improving the speed on a rotating disk is so great, it is certainly useful.

Make sure that you activate the TRIM on your SSD. If ongoing 10.10.4 or later, you can use the Terminal command:

    sudo trimforce enable

(your password is not included, you will be notified that it is serious, and a reboot will be once the TRIM is activated).

  • Laptop HP 15-ay013nr: M.2 SSD update for HP Notebook 15-ay013nr

What type of M.2 SSD is supported in the HP 15-ay013nr laptop?  This unit supports the Samsung 950 Pro 512 GB SSD is like an upgrade?

This model can have a hard drive or a WSSD m2, but not both. There is a sign of Solid State Drive that fits the WSSD for the same space in the laptop as a hard drive or SSD of full size. From a SATA hard drive and the m2 plug into the connector as well, I would say that you should use a SATA M.2 WSSD and not a PCI-e version you ask. It is a new model with a processor of Skylake so not easy to find information, but here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    See p. 56.

So if you want the WSSD and you order the laptop with a HDD or 2.5-inch SSD, you also somehow locate the SSD card. Just, I would setup an SSD 2.5 inch because I think that the Council will be difficult to locate.

  • If I delete files that have already been uploaded on my Time Capsule for more storage in my Mac, will I still be able to have access to them, while I am connected with the TC?

I'm in desperate need of storage so I need to know before you start deleting all the files.

You copied the files on the TC directly... you don't mean in TM backups?

What files are you talking about because some applications are NOT supposed to work network... for example APA iphoto and photo storage.

You must also remember to backup... TM can back up files to a TC.

You may end up losing your files, so be very careful... It is better to use a fast USB... plugged into your computer and then add it to your TM backups.

  • HP Pavilion a6519f: SSD update for HP Pavilion a6519f

I would like to install an ssd in this pc along side hard drive, but when I went to Best Buy and told the seller that I wanted to do and was asked what brand and how old my pc had I said that it was old and not worth it I'd be better off with a new pc. I want to know if this is true or not, since I did some research and saw the old pc with an installed ssd works like new.

    You are the very welcome.

Which is great news, your PC has a setting to AHCI controller.

Make sure that it is set to that before installing the SSD.

If you get an SSD that is large enough, you may be able to clone the hard disk, but if the speed control is set for what else the AHCI on your current drive, the cloned SSD does not start.

I clean all the operating systems installed on my SSD.

With 10 windows that it was easy to install from scratch because you don't need a key product once you had installed W10 previously and it has been activated.  Just click on the option "I don't have a product key" at the beginning of the script install W10.

So I just add the programs and files that I needed.  A took about 2-3 hours for each PC.

  • HP spectrum 13-4105dx 360: 1 TB SSD update for HP spectrum 13 - 360 4105dx

We have a new spectrum HP 13 - 4105dx to the place of a damaged, but really need a hard drive in it - at least 1 to.  I realize that they will require to be of type m2, but need to know if the laptop will recognize the disc with greater capacity and specifications of what I should get.

We cloned the previous hard drive on an external 1 TB drive using Acronis and if all goes well, it will be too difficult to restore it on a new drive.

I see similar questions, but not for the 13-4105dx.  Any help and pointers would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hello

By some reasons, HP stopped publishing Service and Maintenance Guide for this series (the portable HP spectrum x 360 13-4nnnaa).  Probably because of this:

IMPORTANT! This document is for only authorized HP service provider.

My account, on page 28, we can remove the SSD M.2 and swap to a different example 512 GB, M2, disk SSD SATA3 supporting TLC part number 801504-001. There is only a single screw.

But because the book is not available for download now so I can't show you the link and its name. If you wish, please see an HP authorized service provider. They will help you upgrade to 1 TB.

    Kind regards.

    Hello

    1. No, it uses standard 2.5 "HDD and you can use 2.5" SSD standard,.

    2. No, no mSATA

    3. Yes, you can go for SATA III, it is backward compatible,

    4. Yes, this will void the warranty (you'll see how hard to get on the HARD drive).
