Envy 17 M7 n100 series: HP Envy M7 n109dx Upgrade (Possible)

I would like to know all the possible improvements that could be made to this computer. I want to wake this computer if possible max.

I replaced the original hard drive in my n109dx with a 250 GB SSD. I actually did a clean installation if Windows 10 and eliminated all of the software included with the computer. I saved the original in case of warranty claims drive that should be returned the laptop. There is no way to install a drive of m2 in the slot of MB and they have to be recognized by the BIOS or Windows in the n109dx model. There is a current thread on this forum, I started earlier which is always updated about this particular issue. Apparently it's a BIOS problem, and HP has apparently no intention to activate this slot on the n109dx. You can add a second drive Bay available near the battery. Discussions are available about who settle on these forums as well. If you are looking for YouTube, there are step by step video instructions. I also replaced my DVD player with a Blu - ray player purchased from a third-party provider. It was $ 10 cheaper than HP and includes the correct façade. I don't remember the seller, I used, but I just google the model computer laptop and blu Ray and is the seller. Sorry I'm not more help with this, I just wanted to share my experience, because it seems you are trying to do what I did with my n109dx.

  • HP ENVY 700-527c: upgrading of power supply and graphics card, need help

You just bought a NVIDIA - GeForce GTX 970 4 GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card - silver/black for my HP ENVY, but the food I have in my computer does not support this graphics card. So I was wondering if I bought the Black Corsair - CX series modular CX750M 750W ATX Power Supply - if it could fit in my computer and function properly with the graphics card and all the rest of the computer.

Almost thought you made a mistake, but you do not have BIOS rev 8 because this unit originally comes with WIN 8. The GTX 970 attracts only 145W. Corsair CX750M is3.39"x 5.91"x 6.30".  It is profoundly in your case, without connectors.   You have so much room between the existing power supply and connectors for DVD?  NVidia recommends a 500W, I would say the 600W modular version.   Its depth is 5.51 ".

    So my questions are-
    1. how to know the compatibility that is to say, size SSDS based on my lappy, type of accommodation?
    2. what ssd you prefer for this laptop?
    3. other information that I should know before replacing?

    Hello

    Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03733656

Any good brand of 2.5-inch SSD SATA 7mm thick will be good. SATA3 is reverse compatible with SATA2, so need to bother in this regard. Your laptop has HM87 Intel chipset board, so probably there SATA2 or 3.

SAMSUNG SSD of 850 Evo is very good. It is SATA3.

Cloning disk SSD before replacement using the manufacturers Web site migration tools is a good option. I used the Samsung migration tool for my laptop Pavilion 15.

Prior to migration, perform a thorough cleaning of the drive:

A SFC scan to remove the corruption of the file system - option 2:

If necessary, do the restore health dism on it.

  • Envy dv7 Motherboard upgrade successful... sort of.

    Hi all

I'm working on a laptop HP Envy dv7 - 7227cl.  I replaced the motherboard and have now two questions... one is that the system requires an activation again.

The other is that the new motherboard will not charge the battery... It wasn't a problem on the old motherboard...

Battery test told me that the battery failed the test when you use hardware diagnostics from the bios.

I don't have another battery to test with.

I know that the original motherboard is a 682220-501 (part number of HP), and the news he gave me is a 682220-001... Could it be the problem?

Any other ideas on what to check?

    • NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 2 GB GDDR5
    • 750 GB HARD drive with 32 GB WSSD Cache
    • Ralink RT3290 wireless card (beginning to remove connections a few days before this happened)

Last night, I was using my laptop normally and he sat to play a game. During the game, he's dead, and not even think, I just returned it to my office for the next day.

Well, today, I rebooted it and went to turn it on and I have almost nothing! The power light stays on and the hard disk activity is solid for about 2 seconds then turn off. The screen is blank, there is no blinking or beep codes and the WiFi light does not change color indicating that the computer has at least started.

Being a computer scientist, I removed the RAM and reinstalled it. That did not help. I also tried to boot without the hard drive is connected. That does not help either. I also tried the Win + B BIOS recovery with my hard drive and a USB drive and no luck there dry. The last (possibly) worst part is... I removed the RAM and lit without it and still, no code blink or beep.

At this point, I believe that my laptop has a failed motherboard, but I'm just checking from now until I have the chance to call HP support if there is anything else I can try. My warranty expires in three weeks only, if at least it happened before, not after.

In addition, no one knows the direct phone number to the HP support which is on the ground in the USA. I never had a good turn-out speaking with the support of offshore and would like to work with someone who can help me better right off the bat.

    Thank you!

  • Envy 17 M7: Warranty on refurbished HP Envy M7 n109dx

I bought a HP Envy M7 renovated on Amazon n109dx and I noticed that even though she was supposed to come with a 90 day warranty, he arrived at expiration. Is it possible that I can get the 90 day warranty. I just received it today in the mail.

You mean that it shows as expired on the website? Did you sign up with HP? The system is based on a date of end of warranty alleged based on when the device shipped to the seller. If she is on the shelf for a while this date can come and go. The warranty period is 90 days after delivery to retail in order to keep all your documents and if a warranty claim is in place (hope not) you can prove the date of delivery.

I am looking to update my graphics card between a GeForce GT 635 a 960 GeForce GTX amp.

I was wondering if my computer would be able to support it, and if the card would fit well inside?

    Intel Core i7-4770

    CPU @ 3.40 GHz

    12 GB of Ram

    Power: 460 W

    Greetings,

Your PC BIOS will support the map.

You need a 6 connection pins on the map.

The card is a double slot and 9.5 inches in length. Check your turn measures and make sure that you can install a card double slot.

The food is fine, as long as you have a connection to pine trees six or eight available.

    NVIDIA provides an adapter.

Disable secure boot. Enable legacy start.

    See you soon!

  • HP Envy 13-d001no: upgrade SSD on a new HP Envy 13 m2

    Hello!

I just got my HP Envy 13-d001no. As I expected I really enjoy them until now, but I am interested the upgrade to a faster SSD with more storage on this subject. I'm looking at two different drives, namely the Samsung 850 EVO m2 and the Samsung PRO 950 m2. Both drives are m2 (2280) form factor, but they differ in that the EVO 850 uses a SATA 6.0 Gbit/s-interface while the PRO 950 has a PCIe interface.

I am not fully aware of the differences between these interfaces. I know that PCIe allows faster speeds, but they are both compatible with the new HP Envy 13? I find anywhere which interface is the exact shape of the SSD factor currently installed and I don't want to take the risk of buying a new drive only for him is not to adapt or not to work on the laptop.

According to the HP ENVY laptop (model numbers used: 13-d000 through 13-d099)-Maintenance and Service Guide of, this model supports the following:

    SSD drive
    Serial ATA M2 storage
Support for the following SSD drive configurations:
512 MB M2, SATA-3, support triple cell level (TLC)
    256 MB M2, SATA-3, support the TLC
    128 MB, M2, SATA-3, support the TLC
    128 MB, M2.2280, SATA-3

On this basis, it would seem that the Samsung 850 EVO m2 is the correct upgrade for your computer.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

My laptop is Hp Envy 14k011tu. It has a graphics 4400u graphics card intel which is quite bad for the games. I wanted to upgrade. Then someone can suggest som egud graphics cards under $ 100.

    Concerning

    Mehul_Mishra

Sorry, but you operate in a misunderstanding.  Your PC is a laptop computer and, unlike desktop computers, it uses no graphics "cards".

Instead, it uses graphics 'modules' - and what makes these different, is that they involve the graphics chip is soldered to the system board.  This means that you will need to disassemble the entire PC to replace the motherboard just to change the graphics chip.

This would have to do to an HP Service Center - which means that it will cost you easily several hundred dollars, maybe more replacement laptop in its entirety!
