• EPMA deployment of the change of name to ASO app, data erasure

  I am a little puzzled by the behavior of my ASO cubes because when I rename a member and deploy via EPMA, associated data member is cleared and I get a message in the log that looks like this:

  The restructuring converted [343163] cell entry and removed the input cells [18]

  
  

  Recover data from smartview on the renowned Member shows that the data has disappeared. The same is not true at my BSOcubes/planning apps. This goes against what I read in the SER60 and various messages in the forums - the ASO very happy movements facing cubes - we miss the 11.1.1.3 version - everyone knows the same thing? Or may be able to point me in the right direction for a work around - for now I export export reloading and editing to work around the problem.

  Is not a defect, any change in an ASO led to the erasure of the cube data. As the calculation of the data and roll (aggregation) arrives in a different way to ASO compared to BSO. You will need to follow the EAS so to preserve data in ASO!

  Studio is a tool of command loading. The Studio deals with renaming is actually to clear the plan

  (remove all members) and then reload all members, which the renamed (for example, D004134_FCL1), the contour.

  So when "clear plan" happens, the link between the cells and the metadata (members) are broken.  Reloading members can reconstruct the link for these cells whose intersection are members (not renamed) reloaded to the outline. But the renowned members will make these cells who still remember the 'original' members to lose the link. Clients need to reload the data each time that they rebuild contour.

• EPMA deployment hangs - last recorded entry sysout references deleted member

  Hi, we are on 11.1.1.3 and using EPMA to a planning application.
  We have removed a level 0 entity member. Now, we can get EPMA to deploy on essbase/planning. We have disabled create and update outline boxes in an attempt to simply update the planning and it still does not work.
  The last entry recorded in the file sysout EPMA member references that deleted us. The deployment takes normally 2 to 3 minutes.
  There are no entries in the planning pending_xacts table.
  
  How can we determine what is the problem and how to solve?

  pending_xacts is no longer used, I think it has been used last 9.2
  Is a process of active workflow, this can generally cause a problem if you try to remove a member from the entity that is part of a workflow process, the system may hang.
  If it's a question of workflow, then stop the workflow and remove the Member.

  Is there a newspaper that will tell me if the person making a selected application of EPMA planning deployment option 'create' or 'Refresh '?

  Take a look in the diary of essbase applications, you should be able to track down, although it will probably show only the configured account between planning and essbase.
  In the log, you will see something like
  Order received [database Delete]
  ......
  Received command [create database]

  I added a dimension of market and product to one of the BSO application iin essbase using EPMA 11.1.2.0 and when I try to redeploy the application options deployment, post, duplicate, delete, and compare are whitewashed.
  
  I need help on this

  It is a problem in 11.1.2. Try this:
  -Go to the Shared Services and the role of "Manager Application" of the user/group making the deployment
  -For some reason, the role is granted automatically even if you are the owner/creator of application
  -Disconnect, reconnect and try again

  Hi Igor,.

  There is a new property of Consolidation of EPMA with dimensions customized in 11.1.2.3 PSU 700 and 11.1.2.4.  Sounds like you applied PSU 700 11.1.2.3 or transformed the classic or imported artifacts of 11.1.2.4 earlier.  In any case, to resolve the problem, highlight each of the custom in the library of Dimension dimensions and view the properties of Consolidation.  Set the field size in the order you want as shown below.  Note: the "From" currency dimension must have the value 1 and the size of currency 'To' must have a value of 2.  The others can be in any order.

  

  Redeployment and you should be all set.

  Couple notes:

  -in 11 GR 2 you do not select a module as Source/target in the page Wizard. (not sure where is it defined yet)

  -do not follow the old tutorial, instead that follow for the new version:

  OWB 11 GR 2 OBEs.

  And I guess you have to give permission to your schema specified target to select your source.

• EPMA planning App - deploy is "stuck".

  The deployment of our planning application, our Essbase server is down (due to a further question from app). Essbase is back up now, but my EPMA deploy is stuck at 9% (and has been for two hours). It is obviously not yet deployed, but I cannot redeploy. Deploy the option is grayed out. I can not even drop and re-create the application, delete is also gray.
  
  I tried to restart EPMA, but that did not help. Any ideas on how I can 'take off' my deployment?

  Hey Jake,

  If you have a look at the AwbConfig.properties file that is located in \Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\EPMAWebServer\webapps\awb\WEB-INF\conf for tomcat

  If it has not been updated there will be a line

  DEPLOY_PENDING_TIMEOUT_MINUTES = 480

  That means, it will not delay until after 8 hours, if you change the timeout to a lower value such as 15 and I hope, restart services of EPMA will notice that the timeout period has passed and reset the properties of the application.

  I'm trying to deploy EPMA by following the steps described in John's blog: http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2011/10/loading-to-epma-planning-applications_02.html
  
  I noticed two notes about schema/database relational:
  
  1. to create the application, first make sure that you have a schema/database relational intended to receive the planning application.
  2 as "Deploy when you're done" has been activated displays the window to deploy, if no data Source has been created, it can be generated at this point.
  
  I am at the second point, asking me to create a data source. Is there a way this can be done without the involvement of our dba? I'm trying to understand if the EPMA could create a source of data on the fly. I think that the answer is no, John pointed out that you must have a schema/database relational intended to receive the application of planning prior to deployment of EPMA, but I always wanted to check.
  
  We just hope that we could have more flexibility and we can save time when creating data source does not imply our dba.

  You really need a separate/db schema created for each application you deploy, it's the same as if you go the classic route as EPMA deploys just at the same place stands a classic

  What is the difference between EPMA and Essbase Studio

  ^ ^ ^ It's a little confusing, isn't? As far as I understand the role of EPMA, it is a way to share dimensions and common data between several products Oracle EMP including Planning, Essbase and HFM. In fact, I don't know if other products live in EPMA. What is EPMA not have is a great way to supply or manipulate the dimension and fact tables (or files). Oh, there are tables of the interface, but you will write the code/use the utility of dimension EPMA to load dimensions. I must say that I never tried to load through EPMA data so that someone else will have to pronounce on it. Once the dimensions are built, you can deploy Essbase (and other products) of common and specific to the database dimensions.

  Studio is the tool you will use to go against a data warehouse, or something terribly close a data warehouse to build Essbase databases. Just for Essbase - HFM, planning, etc. are not the targets of the Studio release.

  What gets confusion / intriguing, is that when EPMA deploy Essbase apps, it uses Studio under the covers to do. So the interesting implementations where people use Studio (which is much more flexible than EPMA because it is a development tool as opposed to a dimension/data management application) to read the tables, EPMA interface (and as far as I know, the EPMA base tables) and create Essbase applications like that.

  If you think that there is overlap, I agree with you, but you can see that they are not the same.

  And a really need Essbase Studio?

  ^ ^ ^ Do not use Studio to build Essbase databases. You can go hog wild in EAS with loading SQL rules if you want, even if at some point it will be probably easier and simpler to build in the Studio. Although the Studio has been mentioned as the replacement of EAS for awhile, I suspect the effort required to build a database in Studio will keep around for quite a while EAS or Studio Lite will be out. There is a lot to say (sometimes) for the incredible flexibility EAS/Essbase-Studio requires a more methodical approach and EPMA has a very formal set of standards and methods.

  Phew, I'm sorry, I wrote a book on this subject and I bet you get a lot of differences of opinion on that.

  If you are interested in the Studio, you could do well to take a copy of 'Look smarter than you are with Oracle Essbase Studio 11' of Glenn Schwartzberg. I don't get a penny from the sale while I was among the writers of copy (Hey, I got a mention in the acknowledgements). It's a good book and an excellent introduction to the tool.

• Failed to create application - error 405 method not allowed

  Installed 11.1.2.1. Tried using EPMA deploy abort Getting about with the method not allowed error. I tried using classic and make the same mistake. Some details said "Server error in Application" DEFAULT WEB SITE/HFM ', "cannot be displayed the page you are looking for because an invalid method (HTTP verb) is used." Any thoughts on possible causes?

• EPMA 11.1.2.4 unable to deploy HFM App

  Someone at - he struck this problem. We run EMP 11.1.2.4 and created applications through EPMA, HFM. Validate it removes any error. Yet when try to deploy we get this error

  "Failed to retrieve product details to deploy the application." This message does not appear in the newspapers in the Web session in the library to the Application.

  Any information appreciated.

  Well, the problem seems to be that a disconnect be EPMA and HFM. Her only we could find was that to solve down the HFM HSS (Epmregistry), scheme of EPMA. If you perform an export of your SSP metadata LCM and deployment, you can recover most of your settings. It's as bad as the 8001 error when adding or changing the connections of DB of Reporting financial.

  If someone hits the big problem here is a solution.

  1. make a LCM Export of your instance.

  2. remove the HSS, the EPMA and HFM schema. This may mean go in SQLDeveloper or TOAD and the abandonment of the views, sequences manually.

  3. run the HSS, EPMA, HFM configuration.

  4. selectively import the HSS and the deployment metadata.

  5. for all components not imported not do a redeployment.

  6. restart all

• 'Unspecified error' when you deploy by using EPMA

  So far, the symptoms include (11.1.2.1 Version):
  
  • When you create a new Member account with the same properties as his brothers and sisters, the application will validate, but abandonment of deployment of an "unspecified error".
  • If this member is removed the application will be deployed successfully.
  • I created a member of different account in a separate part of the hierarchy, with the same properties of Member exactly like his brothers and sisters and get the same "unknown error."
  
  The same error occurs when you try to add a new Member, not just a new account.
  
  The associated transaction log deployment has failed is below:

  Please kill the HsvDatasource.Exe, HsxServer.Exe and also Security.Exe CASE process in windows Task Manager on all servers applications HFM and Redepoly the Application.

• Impossible to deploy feedback and dynamic calc (property data store) to the cube of the essbase EPMA (BSO).

  We use the Hyperion 11.1.2.3.500 version. We have EPMA Essbase, Planning.

  Currently, we are facing 2 problems with application essbase (BSO) EPMA.

  1. the comments which are available in EPMA are not able to deploy to Essbase. Once we click on deploy option is giving in the success and also to give that error

  "Error affecting comment (account-12345) Member Accountxxx (3375).

  I ran into a similar issue.  You have first accounts second period?  Then try in first period and account.  It cleared my problem.

• EPMA Batch Client full deployment Option

  I want to request a HFM "deploy full" of active EPMA, how can I pass this parameter to the EPMA batch client?

  According to the responses of oracle support, this option is not available from the command line.
