Equium A60 sees a burner

Unfortunately, more help is needed with my Equium A60 after earlier missing CD\DVD drive fault. Thanks for the help earlier, I had my return cd drive in 'My computer' and it does not read CD...

Today, I tried to put some mp3s on a known working CDRW and my DVD burner is not seen. I get an error message saying that you do not have a cd burner... I have the CD Creator 6, which I was using before ok, too much is not a recorder on my laptop.

I can no longer format a blank CD - r or drag and drop on a CD - RW formatted previously.

Any ideas anyone. ?? Thanx. !!

Hello

in 'My computer' with the right button on the DVD drive, and then select Properties. Check whether, under the tab recording, CD recording is activated.

Good bye

    Hello

My toshiba equium a60 will no more DVD burn.
Can anyone help? Or I need a replacement dvd writer? Cheers ron

    > I need a replacement dvd burner
It possible s that CD/DVD drive failure and that only the new would be useful.

But first, you should try some common solution opportunities.

-Try using different media DVD because not all CD/DVD are compatible!
-Try to burn the DVD with another burning software (for example Nero Burning ROM)
-Remove the drive from Device Manager CD/DVD and restart the laptop. After restarting again the OS should install the drive again.
-Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

If all of the procedures of this will be not useful so the replacement drive would probably be necessary.

  • Equium A60 sees no 80 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive

My Equium PSA67E has the latest version of the Bios 1.90. It comes with a 40 GB hard drive.

When I did it I replaced it with a 80 GB seagate momentus 7200 RPM drive. This is fine for about 6 months. Recently I started to laptop and it does not recognize the 80 GB seagate drive?

If I put the disc in the event of external drive I can write and read. It works very well in 2 of my friends laptops; but my own bios do not now recognize!

I tried the PC world where I bought it and they can't operate in this laptop. What could change? Now only the old 40 GB drive, not happy :(

    Any suggestion is welcome.

    Hello

In my view, there could be either a bad connection between the HARD drive and the controller or there is something wrong with the motherboard for laptop

Have you tried to insert another disc (for example the old 40 GB HARD drive) HARD to check the functionality of the Board and the HARD disk controller?
    Please do it.

  • Burned DVD - Equium A60 playback

Hi guys, I was wondering if someone can help me. I have an Equium A60-692 with a Pioneer DVR-K13A CD-ROM drive. The current problem I have is that whenever I insert a DVD that was previously burned, not only by my pc, but others that the CD-ROM drive is unable to read. DVD, that I created in the past that worked very well also stopped play. All I get is the orange led flashing first and then rest it perminently on resulting in a failure in the dvd playback. The player plays original DVD movie very well and plays also any form of cd. Do you think the reader is endangered or is there a setting that has been changed? Any help on this would be greatly apreciated.

    Best regards Richard

    Hello

It's not easy to say why it of not possible to read the burning DVD.
You log out of engraving? Sometimes the medium cannot be read because the sessions of burning are not closed. But this is only possible if you burn CD/DVD several times.
The second possibility could me not supported way. You must use different media.
However try to remove you drive the Device Manager and reboot the device. The operating system should recognize the drive again. Well maybe this procedure will solve this problem.

  • Re: Equium A60 PSA67E - can't burn new disks

I'm losing the will to live now. Could someone help me please.
    I have a 2004 Equium A60 PSA67E-00400C8J.
It reads and writes on DVD RAM RW and DVD ROM and CD RW that have pre files written on them.
But, I can't get to see a new brand.

I place several brands in the draw, closed and it works ok until you get auto white screen as you might indicate the contents of the file, but when I try and 'drag and drop' for her, he said: "there is an unknown problem and files of continue to fly in the air for always (10. (, 15, 20 minutes) until I get advice and "Cancel". Nothing is transferred at all. In desperation, I look at 'properties' for the drive and blue on the slice of cake, telling me the disk is full.
Each new disc! several brands! all the same. I'm close to throwing out the window.

Please please experts with suggestions would be welcome. I'll try anything.
I know much too little for this and all officially released I've read seems to be written for a much longer young and sends me off the coast in total confusion. It took me an hour to reach this post on this forum, but I'll try.

Please take pitty and talk in terms of Janet and John if you offer tests or responses.

Thank you very much in anticipation

    David

If I understand your question, your CD/DVD drive cannot burn new disks.
    Is this good?

What discs can not be burned? Are these discs copy protected?
Have you tried different burning software?

I use Nero and I think it s better combustion of the program.
    Recommend to use.

  • Equium A60 - Shutdown, cracking and burning smell

    Hello!

I have a laptop Equium A60 and today, while using it I heard a noise 'dry', accompanied by a strong smell of burning. The PC also stop and 'popping' continues for a few minutes.

The case and the battery have been cool and since I was able to restart the machine and use access files, burn on CD and internet access so it seems to work OK, but my question is what happened? Someone at - it ideas, which went pop and caused the machine to stop?

    Hello MrBump

I put t know how old your laptop is all why this happen. Please contact the service partner and let check the device. All of a sudden shutdown is especially the reaction if the unit is not properly cooled.

To prevent damage more equipment allow control of the device. If the warranty is still valid, it will cover all costs if there is a hardware malfunction.

    Good bye

  • Equium A60-155, don't 'sees' new HARD drive

I have an old Equium A60-155, P5A67E and tried to install a new drive hard - one Samsung 120 GB, 5400 RPM IDE.
However the BIOS (ver 1.90) is not 'see' and has no auto-detection option I see either - in fact it has very few options for anyone!

The existing drive (original) is a Fujitsu 40 GB IDE.

The 120 GB should be not OK, below the barrier of 128 Gb? - but would be using a suitable HARD drive utility (-Samsung offers a version of OnTrack) to make the drive HARD smaller 'look' for the Bios, be any help anyway? Is that the new drive faulty? Any other ideas?

    Any help is appreciated!

I agree with you and think that 120 GB should be recognized correctly. It is not easy to say what the problem is here. BIOPS value default settings and check again. If the same problem persists, try using a different HDD with 80 or 100 GB to see if any of them will be recognized correctly.

Problem is that you have limited options with all this and that he cannot do much. Either it is admitted or not.

  • My opinion on the Toshiba Equium A60-155

I've had an Equium A60 - 155 during almost a year now and I'm quite impressed by it. For £730 I paid for it, not worth it.

I had to increase the ram with another stick 512 for another £60 as the laptop does not work even with the standard 192. By that, I mean system breaks down, abnormal system responses, spontaneous reboots, system files/missing features, anti-virus program, just basically a machine unreliable, unusable failures.

I will say that now the extra ram is installed, the software is more stable and most previous problems disappeared. But Toshiba is expected to have delivered it with 512 MB in the first place!

And the battery on this is terrible! There is barely even a laptop! On a good day with battery all the saving settings on max I get about 50 minutes of it--and Yes, a year ago, when it was new, it would last together 30 more minutes at about 1:20. At the point where the thing was started in Windows and you install to work, it is for food then you might as well forget about asking him and always run from the network.

How Toshiba charge that kind of money for a laptop that has this kind of performance? There is nothing on the laptop that can justify this money... the graphics card? Average. The processor? Celeron - enough said. The motherboard? Standard. The battery life? Laughable. The DVD burner? A bonus, but not worth the extra money. The size? Large.

Just that there is more that I could do about it I wish and Toshiba could be made aware of the misery that they have caused me (and probably many others) during this 'portable '.

    * Note to the mods - please do not remove this post once again. Why do you feel the need to remove it anyway? Send me an email.

I don't want to sound harsh, but you shouldn't really complain if you had bothered to check the specifications before you buy. Regarding the system crash that you can't just blame Toshiba is much poorly written drivers in XP bugs bugs in the BIOS firmware. Make sure you have XP installed with all the latest service packs for updates also updates BIOS (there has been 3 since I bought my A60-181) and if you want to try a different operating system to install Linux or use a distribution like Knoppix bootable CD.
The battery life on laptops are poor, in general, I have seen some rival brands that quoted 1.5 hours but that the technology for you and having a processor Celeron doesn t s helped no more. That said that 50 minutes seems short for load complete so I recommend to contact Toshiba and see if they replace.
The Admin of this forum is probably done only by ensuring that all messages on this forum to help are useful asking the nature. Making negative comments about products Toshiba on a Toshiba forum isn't clever but if you have a problem, then ask for help instead.

    see you soon,

  • White with vertical lines colored on Equium A60

    Hello

I'm new on this but really need your help. My laptop is around the age of 18 months and has always worked well. Last week, I plugged modem broadband via Ethernet cable and configure the broadband services. A few minutes after doing this, when I looked back to the screen, he went all white with vertical lines colored it. I rebooted the machine etc and that's all I ever get now. As soon as I turn on, it will just right to white with these colored vertical lines.

I tried to connect an external monitor to it and that works very well. The laptop is a Toshiba Equium A60. I'm worried that the screen is burned, it is possible for a power surge or something like that to go down the Ethernet cable and the screen shot?

    Thank you

    Adrian

Display features has nothing to do with the Ethernet cable. Test with external monitor is very good, and on this way, you can see if the graphics card is perhaps responsible for that.

From your description, I think that the view is the problem. Of course, just intensive display test can give more answers.

  • Equium A60 do not start

    Hello

My Equium A60 primer not. Once the power is on, the Toshiba screen after, nothing else happens. The screen shows that the light is on but nothing is displayed. Fans are working and go to market and stop at intervals.

During the boot and hold down the F8 key, I tried to load safe mode, but the machine stopped by what follows the on-screen...

    multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system 32\ntoskrnl.exe
    multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system 32\hal.dll
    multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system 32\KDCOM. DLL
    multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system 32\BOOTVID.dll
    multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system 32\config\system

Anyone has any ideas on where to find a solution to this. Is it software or hardware releated etc.

    Thanks much for any help.

    Hello!

In my view, this could be a problem with the drive HARD or Windows.

First of all, I would like to check the HARD disk:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. You can then the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

If the HARD drive has no error I would reinstall Windows with the recovery because you disk as no access in safe mode.

    Good bye

  • Sound recording works successfully, but will be no recording CD or DVD - Equium A60

I have been successfully burning CD and DVD (same discs) for two years and suddenly he stopped. I run Checkdisk and defragmented, tried with short filenames etc under the guidance of another forum without success.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

In my opinion, it is not wonder if something stops working after so long. This path is not easy to say anything because we don t know what did you do with the device (your personal configuration) or applications that you have installed. As far as I know done recording part of the recovery image and only if you install OS again everything should work again.

Otherwise definitely delete Sonic and test the drive with the other burning software.

  • Drive recovery for Equium A60-157 PSA67E

Has anyone got a copy of the disc recovery issued with an equium A60-157 PSA67E as I am trying to get this laptop for work and unable to get its hotkeys control and be able to work.

I think I've worn out my wellcome with Equium forum and technical appeal but it's somewhere I myself lack of understanding on this subject.

I loaded all recent downloads listed on their site, but always impossible to get these functions to work.

So can you help me please...

    Hello

Why you n t install a new Windows OS on this laptop?
Missing drivers can be downloaded from the page of European driver of Toshiba.
    All drivers are available!

The recovery disc can be ordered for this model of laptop because it s too old.
Clean install OS Win + drivers is therefore the only option

  • System failure-Equium A60 won't boot to the top

    Hey guys & gals
for the first time using this site and need some advice!

    I have a toshiba laptop
    "equium a60 model PSA67E-No.-00200D8J.

Ive had problems with my start up! I get an error message saying: I have a missing driver!

    read the MSG error-"system32\drivers\ntfs.sys".

    Also get message...

"windows was not start because the following file is missing or damaged:
    system32\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys ".

Unfortunately I can't find my original CD boot disk & I don't want to lose the files saved... not too good sense when it comes to problems with this...

If anyone can give some advice please, it drives me crazy! Laughing out loud

    Alan.

    Heyho,

looks like you're in big trouble. I think the only chance to backup your files is to get some linux live CD (knoppix, ubuntu and mandrake) and an external hard drive to copy the files to your hard drive internal to external hard drive attached.

The best way would be to ask a technician or a guy who is VERY familiar with computers to backup your data.

After that you need to reinstall your operating system but without the recovery CD, you are out of luck. Then you don't have a lot of options.
One of these options is to look for startup disk or how to call it: "restore CD". If it is not available you should contact an authorized local dealer servicepartner toshiba and get a new recovery disk. The last option is to buy a Windows XP or to ask someone (family, friends, the one who) for a Windows XP to install.
