Equium L40 - 10Z hard drive click on stronger than habit/expected

Is a hard drive stronger by clicking on a fault? It's not weird scraping noises or anything like that, just the regular clicks, but they are stronger that I'm used to! I would say a good 2 - 3 times stronger than my old laptop. I should talk with the store (I bought only yesterday) or it is part of the design? Thank you.

Hi Adam

I m 3 notebooks different owner by clicking similar appears on one of my notebooks.
It of certainly one from HARD drive, it seems for a year, but the HARD drive and the laptop works properly without any escapes

But I have already noticed a head-crash HARD drive on my other computer. So you should be careful
Don t forget to backup your important data, because this could be a beginning of the end of the HDD notebooks!

Good bye

I can't find drivers for my laptop, the specification is indicated above. I have windows XP with service pack 3 installed and the system is unable to install drivers Realtek High Defination or audio drivers Realtek AC 97 ". I even tried the latest drivers version 1.86 but not its use.

I read the other posts on this forum and have tried the other model audio drivers as well, it seems that after running the installer from several other realtek audio drivers for windows XP THAT is of no use. I even tried to add material manually through the Device Manager and have to install these drivers for realtek high definition audio and the realtek ac 97 audio drivers.

Of course, this helps the drivers to install, but windows cannot activate the material with an error code 10 with a note of explanation on behalf of the driver in Device Manager.

I also tried to install the drivers of toshiba A100/A200 without exploitation, however, I read somewhere that there is a windows XP patch that is required to be installed, so that windows detect the chip high definition, which is on the motherboard. If one can provide a direct link to a driver with the .inf file that will have the information for the material, or if someone can advise (or provide a link for) according to microsoft update is required for windows XP, in the appropriate hardware detection, will be really useful.

I'm also sorry for my bad English I'm unable to articulate with the type of problem, I faced. But if anyone knows of a solution and additional information is needed, I will be happy to provide you with everything I know.

I'll be very grateful to anyone who helps address this issue. Looking forward to a positive response :).

    > have windows XP with service pack 3 installed
To my knowledge, that the XP SP3 is not published official. Only a beta version is available.
    Then go back to SP2!

    > the system cannot install drivers Realtek High Defination or Realtek AC' 97 audio drivers
Realtek AC 97 audio driver is not compatible! You must use the driver from Realtek High definition.

    > Of course, it helps the drivers to install, but windows cannot activate the material with an error code 10 with a note of explanation on behalf of the driver in Device Manager.

The problem is that you have not installed the MS XP patches that are necessary to get the sound working.

  • Equium L40 - 10Z goes dead after leaving her alone for a while

    Evening,

I noticed a problem shortly after buying my Equium L40 - 10Z. If I leave it to the top, but don t he use for a period of 3 to 5 hours or more, the laptop is still on but there is no hard drive activity and the screen is blank. Nothing I press on including the power button it will wake up. I have to press the power button for 6 or more seconds then release, then turn the laptop back on. I tried to recover the laptop using the DVD provided without result. I have my settings of power to the maximum, but I changed it so that if I close the lid, it was nothing happens as long as the laptop is plugged and it doesn t hibernation.

    Any thoughts?

    Kind regards

    John

Looks a bit like a hardware problem.

One question; have you noticed this problem immediately after installing the operating system from the recovery CD?
Please check it and do not install any 3rd party software/programs because it could have a negative influence on the operating system.

If the laptop is not response after using the Toshiba Recovery CD you no doubt contact the ASP in your country for a control.

If all goes well, it is not a serious problem.

    Good luck

If you do not have to replace it, there should be a recovery partition on this drive to make recovery disks and use to reinstall Vista.

Contact the manufacturer to find out the exaxct of keys to press start to start the factory of this partition recovery.

For a small price, you can also buy a set of recovery of them discs to reinstall Vista.

  • Hard drive clicking - Satellite-U940-100

    Hi people,

I bought a new computer laptop just 5 days back and I hear a noise clicking a few seconds apart. Here's what it looks like: [https://soundcloud.com/user506186265/toshiba-u940-clicking-sound]

Can someone help me diagnose the sound, what is it and why it is happening?

In this case every hour and is troubling in a quiet environment. Because I intend to keep the laptop for more than a few years I'm afraid that the hard drive won't be able to very soon. If I can't solve this properly before November 20, 2013 I intend to return to the where I bought the laptop.

    Thanks for your help!

    I agree with Timox
The sound seems to create a HARD drive head during the read/write of data from the hard drive.
This is nothing unusual. As mentioned by Timox; some HARD drive are stronger, some are quieter.

In case you want to change the HARD drive in the future: I recommend you choose an SSD.
It s much faster and SSD drives don't produce sounds

  • Hard Drive Click / Clack / Parking every minute (hear for yourself)

I'm officially rename noise clickign from hard drive to a DELL TORTURE DEVICE.

I'm literally a few days back from my brand new laptop M1530 due to this noise. It's the thing the stronger on my entire computer... in fact, the strongest sound from any computer I've owned since the dawn of time.

BUT I can't decide if it's more or less annoying than the WHINING coming from the CPU... God, I hate dell

in any case... Here are a few cool records the click. They were recorded with a directional microphone sitting ontop of a hard drive backwards. The constant buzz, you can hear in the background is the M1530 fan.

    clack1.wav

    clack2.wav

    clack4.wav

    clack5.wav

In the recording, it may seem like this sound is low... but believe me... That's at least 5 x stronger than the normal drive access sounds... many times stronger than the spin-down the drive startup sound will do if Power Options (DIFFERENT of THE PARKING) turns.

I discovered that the MAA (acoustaic management) does not work on SATA. This is in agreement with the fact that NONE of the three settings in the bios are making a difference in his hard drive (derivation, quiet, performance).

Reference Dell will return a $1,600 on their hands, if it is not fixed soon

    Hello

If your laptop comes with a HDD of 80 GB then you ve got a good chance a 100 GB or 120 GB HARD drive would be supported.

  • Cannot install recovery image on my Equium after upgrade HARD drive

    Hello

I just installed a new hard drive for my Toshiba laptop Equium I contacted Toshiba who informed me that I could mount up to 1 TB, I opted for with a 500 GB at halfway.
After installing the drive I inserted the disc of recovery after a while, it was loaded with the operation completed successfully message. Next message put in place windows could not configure windows to run on this computer hardware. Then windows could not complete the installation to install windows on installation, this restart of the computer...

At the end of the restore process a message tells me to remove the recovery disc and output as soon as I get the laptop stops and doesn t re boot automatically. During the next restart windows message Vista starts for the first time then the cycle starts again. I tried to reload several times recovery according to the instructions, but not good.

    Any help much appreciated

I put t know which model of laptop you have, but if the recovery image is Vista, it must be quite old model, maybe Equium A200.
To be honest I didn't experiment with the upgrade of the HARD drive on older models, but I can imagine the image recovery are a problems with hard drives with huge capacities.

Display please model name and which HDD you inside now.
By the way: if possible, try to install Win7 using Microsoft installation disc. I m it will be safe works without any problem.

  • Hard drive clicking noise Satellite P100-240

    Hello
I bought this laptop a few months ago. Recently the hard drive was made of the sounds click thud when left idle or when it is used. Once there it usually starts guard going. Sound louder than normal sounds of hard drive activity and occurs every few seconds. Everyone knows about this problem? It is likely is a sign of mechanical defects and possible disk crash, or is this a normal phenomenon? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Daniel

Well, maybe it's a beginning of the end of s.
Be careful and always make backups!
My hard drive was cut there's dead several months! I noticed a low crackling inside. After restarting again the BIOS didn't recognize the HARD drive! It was an accident of the head!

So, as mentioned above, be careful!

  • Satellite L40 - no HARD drive not detected in the BIOS

    Hello

I need some advice here. I have a Toshiba Satellite a colleague here, type L40 - 14N. She wanted to run the Toshiba Recovery CD procedure to get back original configuration... system was going way too slow and all that, no other problems. Anyway, she's not very experienced and one way or another the recovery failed.

Problem is that the system does not detect a HARD drive now more for some reason any. Not in the BIOS, not during the procedure of Toshiba Recovery CD if I start it now. I also tried a Vista installer retail and loaded drivers SATA raid as mentioned on this forum. Without success, no HARD drive detected.

It's weird, because nothing essentially. Any suggestions how I could solve this problem and get the HARD drive online?

If the HARD drive is not detected, the installation of recovery will not work and also a Microsoft installation disc.
The HARD drive should be detected in the BIOS, otherwise that an installation is not possible.

However, it seems that the HARD drive is defective because the BIOS peut t detect it.
If your laptop is in warranty got a local ASP or you change the HARD drive by yourself.

  • Equium A60 - Max HARD drive?

    Hey, forum noob here.

I know this has been asked before (see [here | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=119435𝊋], [here | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=81428𓸔] and [here | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=136793𡙙]), but I have yet to see a definitive answer, so...

What is the biggest HARD drive I can put in an Equium A60? Anyone know?

(Processor is Celeron 2.8 GHz;) Current BIOS is version 1.8 c).

NB. this a 2nd or 3rd hand reconditioned machine. The insignia on the bottom says "TOSHIBA EQUIUM A60 PSA67E-00300C8J" but SystemInformationForWindows tells me that it is a Satellite A60. So maybe someone has used a disc re - install from a Satellite A60 at some point. I don't have if this is important - I mention this it just in case...

TIA. Any help would be appreciated.

    Tom

Just if someone has tested, it can offer a definitive answer. Of course, nobody has played with such things but let's be realistic.
Equium A60 comes with IDE ATA 6 HDD SATA not. AFAIK these HDDs have limit on 136 GB or something like that. So I think that you can use all the disk up to 130 GB.
In my opinion, you can use maximum 120 GB IDE ATA HDD. I'm not 100% sure, but if you use the more big HARD drive is more than 136 GB will not be recognized.

So much about the theory. ;)
I just hope someone can confirm or deny my theory on HDD max.

    Bye and good luck!

  • HARD drive click after update Bios on Satellite A100

    Hello.
I just did a bios update for my Satellite A100 PSAA9, and after that I started to hear a few clicks on the hard drive, from time to time. They appear very often, but I would like to know why they started!

The bios update was published in 26/11/2007.
Does anyone have the same problem?

    Thank you.

I put t think it has something to do with the BIOS update.
I put t don't know how old you HDD is but maybe that click concern only the HARD drive hardware problem

There are several times in my HARD disk created similar clique and sounds but it s runs great
I didn't noticed any hardware problem however, we cannot exclude a hardware problem and therefore, you should back up important data to prevent the files from damage.

    Best regards

Hello there, I am hoping that there is someone out there who could give me a little advice!

I have a laptop Equium A200-1VO, but unfortunately I need to replace the hard drive. He currently holds a 120 GB drive, but I wonder if the laptop could face if I replaced it with a capacity of 500 GB? Otherwise, 350GB?

I agree with Akuma. Satellite A200 can manage with drives of 250 GB and more.

  • How to install the sound drivers and graphics on my Equium L40 - 10Z?

OK here is the deal, I have everything works pretty well except the sound. Its the map analog Inc. I have on this laptop and not the Realteck one. In my opinion, he's also under the name of SoundMAX. Summer looking for the driver on google for hours now, if someone can tell me if they have managed to get their functioning and how?

Also on the graphics, I'm not fussed, but if anyone has any info on this, it would be great.

Someone knows the specifications of the chip, card mother etc for this laptop, so I can download the drivers for the chipset.

I use Windows XP Service Pack 3!

    Thank you
