  • Can't access ESXi host after VLAN for MGMT has been implemented?

    Hello

We run ESXi 5.1 and recently to get our network

Network administrator has received only 5 VLAN for MGMT vSwitch.  Since then, we are not able to ping on the ESXi host, or access in vCenter.

He received different VLAN for vMotion and vSwitch and VM.

Just would like to ask your advice what changes I need to do?

    Hello

That doesn't sound right. You have 3 different vSwitches with 2 ports on each, so you can not the team together on the side of the switch.

This would have been right if you had a vDS with 6 uplinks and various exchanges by the feature that you do not.

You have need of the network is to set up 3 different teams one by vSwitch and to start with that you have the management must be in the access mode so that you can retrieve with your ESX box connectivity.

Also the vMotion didn't need to be mode trunk you'll only of vMotion. Data (VM) must be master.

  • Cannot access ESXi server via network

    Hello world!

We have a HP C7000 Encolosure with 4 BL460c Gen 8 blades in front size of it. Back size of the C7000, we have 2 SAN Switch, 2 switch HP BLc GbE2c layer 2/3 and 2 Onboard Administrator Module.

Everything is working fine with IP addresses like this:

    OA active:

    IP address: 172.16.0.253

    STANBY OA:

    IP address: 172.16.0.254

    Server Blade BL460c Bay 1:

The IP address of the ILO: 172.16.0.10

    Server Blade BL460c Bay 2:

    The ILO IP address: 172.16.0.11

    BL460c blade Bay 9:

    The ILO IP address: 172.16.0.19

    Server Blade BL460c Bay 10:

    The ILO IP address: 172.16.0.20

We can ping pc that connected to the port of ILO on Onboard Administrator (OA) IP addresses above. (I can it call PC MANAGE?)

Continue, we access OA via Web https://172.16.0.253 use of , then Console integrated to control 4 Server blades. We have mounted image ESXi 5.1 U1 and successfully installed on 4 servers blade.

We manually config IP address on each ESXi Server (like this):

BL460c Server Blade on Bay 1 as server ESXi 1:

    IP address: 10.0.0.11

BL460c Server Blade on Bay 2 as server ESXi 2:

    IP address: 10.0.0.12

BL460c Server Blade on Bay 9 as a server ESXi 9:

    IP address: 10.0.0.19

BL460c Server Blade on 10 Bay as a server ESXi 10:

    IP address: 10.0.0.20

Now we can ping server to another server ESXi ESXi 1. I mean 4 Blade Server can ping together.

    BUT:

-We can not ping servers to blade PC of manage (that PC connect to the port of ILO on OSTEOARTHRITIS. In this scene, MANAGE PCs has the IP 172.16.0.100/16)

-We unplug the network cable from the port of iLO, then connect it to the port number 24 on HP BLc GbE2c LY 2/3 switch, then address IP of the PC to MANAGE the 10.0.0.100/24 value. Always the same, can only access servers

Can someone explain to me how to access this server (ping, http, etc...). Do we have to config switch HP BLc GbE2c LY 2/3? We read many many guide on the HP website, but they have not mentioned about routing or switch to configure

    Thanks in advance!

    It's my mistake!

My servers have 2 connections FlexLOM. That a connection has been enabled for 'network management' in ESXi. I do not understand, then I activated 2 connections. That cause outside the network can not access them.

I just disabled a single connection and everything works perfectly.

    I thank everyone!

  • SSH access ESXi 4.1.0 fails

    Hi all

I have a problem with SSH access on my server ESXi 4.1.0. The problem is that it keeps it all the time.

Precesely more, I go to the tab "Configuration", "Safety profile", "Properties", "Remote Tech Support (SSH)" and configure the server running (I tried all three options). Then and for a few minutes, I can connect to the server using ssh, both with the root and non-root users. But after a few minutes the ssh server stops.

I have no idea what's going on. Could you give me a hint to solve this problem?

Thanls a lot for your help.

    Kind regards

    Agustin

    Hello

    Welcome to the community

But after a few minutes the ssh server stops.

Right, this is due to default security setting that stop ssh after a certain time (don't remember what are the exact numbers). If you want to enable SSH permanently you need to go to the screen of the ESX console and enable SSH from there

  • Basic question: access ESXi through 'tools '.

I recently installed ESXi 5.0 on a new server that I put in place and I find that I can't access the machine I thought I could.  I am very familiar with the functionality of VMWare workstation and Server, and obviously it's going to be very different, but according to what I am learninig, but it seems that you can't do with NO configuration of the virtual machines via the console itself and require some sort of client or tools in order to have access.  Could someone please point me in the right direction, whether for a tutorial, tools or even a post on the different forum which starts at the beginning and goes through the process of installing multiple virtual servers from scratch?

    TIA

As soon as you get a valid IP address, point your browser of choice to the IP address of your ESXi host, here, you can download and install the vSphere Client.  You who will use to connect to and manage your host.

  • Access ESXi virtual computers via Web access.

    Hi all

I used VMWare Server 2 and like to make a desktop icon that accesses VMs via the VMWARE-VMRC. EXE plugin.  This is an attractive interface.  Is it possible to do the same with ESXi virtual machines?

    Thank you

    Rick

No, ESXi does not support the web management interface.  Server 2.0 does, like ESX and ESXi not.

  • TV Tuner and Erro r0X80070005: access denied

I have improved my Tuner from Hauppauge TV to Hauppauge 2250.  The two have worked flawlessly, until today.  The tuner no longer works, Media Center said, due to disk space.  I released a disk space and WMC says "the conflict. Device Manager indicates that all is well.  When I have to Admin.Tools/Services/WMC receiver Serice properties and try to start, I get "error 0 x 80070005: access denied."  Any suggestions to fix this?

I solved this problem by going to Windows features, uncheck Media Center, turn off the computer, install the tuner Hauppauge 2250 card, restart the computer and install the drivers on the Hauppauge site.  In the Windows features, I checked Media Center, restarted the computer and is returned to the Hauppauge site to complete downloading the drivers of Media Center, etc.. I restarted the computer, open Media Center and went through the configuration of the TV Signal and the tuner works now.  Not sure it will work for everyone, but for now, it works for me!

  • Cannot access ESXi host in Vcenter after moving to accommodate different subnet

I moved a different host EXSi 5.5 on a new subnet at a physical site.  The host has been identified by IP not the DNS name.  After the start of Vcenter, I realized my mistake.  The host is always identified by the old IP so it appears as disconnected.  I was hoping I'd be able to simply change the identification of IP address, but have not been able to see how to do this.  I also tried to remove the host (this configuration has a data center and a host), but I can't do it.  I can't add the host (with the new IP address) I get an error message that the data store is identified with the original host.

Is there an easy way to this?

Welcome to the community - you need to remove the old entry in your inventory (using the command delete inventory) and then re-add the ESXi host FULL domain name.

I also moved it to a more appropriate forum-

  • Cannot access ESXi host to download the vi client

Just installed ESXi 3.5 on an HP DL360.  After that installation went and changed the configuration of network and account/password root via the console.  Now, I want to install the vi client.  I point a browser on my laptop to my ESXi 3.5 hosts and get a context connection.  I assumed that I would use my root account and the password, but it does not work.  How to do this?

    Never seen anything like this.

Please check the ip address, subnet mask and gateway you have configured.

If you use the host name of the ESXi in the browser, also make sure that solves the correct IP address. (nslookup YourHostName)

The connection popup shows the name/IP of the ESXi host.

BTW: What DL360 generation do you use. In my lab environment, I'm under ESXi 4 U1 on a DL360G4 without any problem.

  • To access ESXi 4 Update 1 custom server from dell MD3000i iSCSI SAN

    Hello

I'm brand new on VMware ESX/ESXi products and for the most part, no.  I configured several machines virtual with server 1 and 2.  I am trying to connect a virtual ESXi 4 server in a SAN and starts to become very confused about what I can or not do.  I hope that someone here can break it down for me because I couldn't find the answer to my specific questions.

    Here's how I'm Setup:

I have a Dell PowerEdge R710 with ESXi 4 Update 1 'Custom Dell' (whatever that means) is installed.

I have a Dell MD3000i SAN using iSCSI with a pre-configured dedicated virtual disk.

I would like to create virtual machines on virtual disk said.

I think that ESXi 4 is completely free.

It seems that to manage the server, I need to use 1 of the 2 products.  The Vsphere client or web application of VMware Go.

    If I use Vsphere:

I have the ability to add a type of storage through the user interface.

I'm on a 60-day trial. I thought that it was free.

If I configure my iSCSI via Vsphere and then the eval expires... what happens?  All jump on me and then I have to purchase a license to get it back?

    If I use VMware go:

It seems I don't really have any options to do any kind of configuration iSCSI in VMware Go.  I do?

I also have a XenServer that is configured in this way and it's all free. I wanted to try the bare metal of VMware solution, but now I wonder if I'll have to go back to Xen.

Can someone please relieve me of my confusion until I have to pull the plug on this experience.  Maybe direct me to the proper documentation on how to configure what I need with what I have at the cost free-is possible.

Thanks a lot for your comments and have a wonderful weekend!

I'd go by QuickStart Webcast and Webcast ESXi Webstart to help get a better understanding.

Here is a configuration to the MD3000i http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/solutions/esx_storage_deployment_guide_v1.pdf guide

  • "this host is not no matter what networks of virtual machine, or you don't have the permission to access ' ESXi V4

I'm sure I'll be stupid on this one, but what does do to ensure that networks of virtual machine?  I get this message when I look at network/properties of a VM adapter 1.

When the virtual computer runs, my network card think the cable is disconnected.

I went to the host properties and of course there is a 'Virtual Machine port group"and a"VMKernel Port", both connected to my physical card.

I don't see anything obvious on the network are disabled or anything like that.

Please give me a hint?  Virtual machines to run it, but without any network connectivity.

    Thank you

    Joe

I had this on the virtual machines that I moved from VMware Server 2.0. I found that there is no entry for the "ethernet0.networkName" in the .vmx files Server 2 (and probably Workstation) do not seem to care and connect ethernet0 to the first configured network. ESXi 4 all confused. So for me, the solution was to add

    ethernet0.networkName = 'Hand Lan'

for each file .vmx before adding them for ESX. If you have already added the machine, you will need to remove it before you edit the .vmx file.

  • Access SSH ESXi 4 without BusyBox

    Hello.

Is there a way to access ESXi 4 via SSH otherwise than with BusyBox?

We use Paessler PRTG monitoring and it has a "SSH VMWare ESX (i) disk sensor" which basically connects via SSH and did a "df". When I encountered a problem with the sensor they simply said "PRTG does not support BusyBox.

    See you soon.

It does not appear that they have tested with ESXi.

http://www.vm-help.com/esx41/developing_for_ESXi.php - on this page, I have a link to a few other pages on the development of public services for ESXi.  It is link to compile busybox.  New version of Busybox include the-P option with df.

    Copied from this thread;

    http://communities.VMware.com/message/2067067#2067067

You must open the ssh ports in the firewall of ESXi.

In vSphere Client check the host-> Configuration-> Security Profile-> Firewall-> properties

and select "SSH Client" If you need to scp connections outgoing resp. "SSH server" If you want to enable incoming connections to PCs.

  • Access remotely with CLI?

    Hello

I am relatively new to the use of CLI.  We have ESX 3.5 and I wanted to know if it was possible to use the CLI to execute commands remotely on the ESX Server?  I want to uninstall the agent of Lab Manager 2.5 x of each of our ESX servers remotely so I don't have to get into the office.

I downloaded and installed the CLI and I can run commands such as

    vicfg - nics.pl - xx.xxx.xxx.x - username "root server" - list of password "xxxxx."

The command I want to run remote is "uninstall - agent.sh" console.  I can do this via the CLI?  If Yes, what is the correct format of the command?

    Thank you

Welcome to the forums - the CLI remote is only used to access ESXi not ESX - using putty, you will be able to run the uninstall command - but don't forget that the root via SSH login is disabled by default so you will login as a normal user and su - to root -
