There is another thread that seems to have a few discussions around that. Not specific to this update, but in general this error 80070020:
A lot of people have been resolved by disabling the protection in real time for their AV application (BitDefender has been mentioned a bit).

Winsdows Update Error 80070020 updates yesterday against MS
This happens only with 975560 KB that is related to MS10-013 and claims to be a critical update.
All other updates are correctly loaded.
There is no error message - just the fact stated that this update failed to install after reboot. - because it could be linked to another program at the same time?Support center suggests from windows with a clean reboot and it does not work
It then suggests a reboot in safe mode and it also fails to load the update in question.
I use the 64 bit version of Windows Vista.
Since the update is indicated as being critical, that I was wondering if anyone had the same problem or has a solution to load the update. TKSYou receive error 0 x 80070020 when you use the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site to install the updates

The Microsoft/Windows Update errors and updates failed.
I just had to make YET ANOTHER Destructive full restore my win Vista PC, regular and continuous errors and problems caused by who knows what and the fact that the system restore never worked once in 10 years of friggin! My PC tries to run Win' Vista (SP2) and all the new updates that are applied after SP2. I also run Norton Internet Security (fully updated). I would like to re - install Office 2007 again once more, but I'm reluctant to until I get an answer to the following problem, because whenever I have re-installed Office 2007 I get Office update errors as well. I do not yet have enough away with this recovery to even think about re - install "other apps" again. My problem is that a heck of a lot more than several updates that were 'available' over time since I bought this pc (which didn't even have SP1 on it when I bought it new), do not have more than several times. Finally, it seems that these updates failed stop appearing as 'available '. Currently failed updates are: IMPORTANT: KB974468; KB2729449; KB2742595; RECOMMENDED: Windows Live Essentails 2001. OPTIONAL: Bing Office 1.3.1. also failed (the current version is 1.3.3...).
My concern about all these multiple failed updates is that if these updates ARE important, whereas they should, and at the very least, not failed to install the first time which must be installed with success the next time. There are at least 40 + other these updates on my pc (of all types) who failed the first time, but succeeded (according to Windows Update), the second time. After doing a search and try to install these updates above manually from the Microsoft Download Center, I got a response that these updates "are not" or "are blocked by another condition on my computer. What 'State' is probably I wonder? Makes me think anyone or whatever decide an update IS important for a particular system is wrong either (and the update is NOT important at all) and so it does not yet appear in the list of "update available", or it IS important and there is another unknown or error "NO that does NOT exist. preventing the update to be applied. I say no because maybe this unknown error also cites a number of error that is not found by the completely useless online "windows help and support!
If an update is NOT or is no LONGER available, then why hell is he always recommended! ??? In all cases, "Windows Live Essentials 2011" settles, and looking for 'help' by selecting "get help with this error" I am taken to the "windows help and support" line (which doesn't help at all). That's because this 'aid' shows only 26 'results' and NONE of them include error numbers (800706... and two instances of 66A) city. ANY help will be VERY much appreciated (epecially on the part of MVP, who have been a great help in the past) cordially Andy Bob :) :) :) :)
Let's start from the beginning.

DMA2100 - with error "network error" firmware update fails
I have a DMA2100 with firmware 1.1.0.
I use 802.11n Wi - Fi connection.
The DMA2100 connects to the Media Center of Vista computer and has access to the internet streaming media, so I know the network endeavours of the DMA2100. What is frustrating is I can't update the firmware, it takes about 1 minute and then I get a message saying there is a network error, error. I can't figure out why.
Any ideas?
I hope the new firmware will allow me to play all divx file and not only some Divx files.
Thanks for your help.
Hi DragonFather,
I've previously read online that the Wireless does not update the firmware if you have enabled encryption. The short answer is to change to wired in the DMA2100 and then connect it via a wired ethernet connection.
Regarding playback of divx/xvid files, I have the DMA2200 with 1.1.0 firmware (I think I need an update too). I was able to play almost all the files I throw at it. The only problem is when a file is encoded in Xvid, but the FourCC information are something other than Xvid announcement, DMA does not understand how to play, even if windows can. Once I have change this information to "xvid" file works perfectly! The program to change it's Avic100 (it's name, I'm at work right now so feel free to correct me), so have a search on google for it and see if that helps.
Try it and tell me how it works for you!
Good luck

I have the Microsoft product identifier. How can I download it turn it on for my Lenovo thinkpad?
Hello Tina,
Thank you for the update.
As you said that you run refresh and reset the computer this is the reason why the Microsoft Office application that you have installed has been removed after completing the refresh as the applications that came with your PC or you installed on Windows Store will be reinstalled automatically, but all the apps you have installed other Web sites and DVD is deleted. Windows puts a list of applications on your desktop after you refresh your PC.
After reset, all of your personal files will be deleted and your settings will be reset. All the apps the East came with your PC will be reinstalled, but other applications or programs will be removed.
So, you will need to reinstall the office application and see if that helps.
Hope this information helps. Otherwise, feel free to write us again for more assistance, and we will be happy to help you come.

Cannot install windows update, error: 80070020
Original title: 5 updates Windows do not install KB2507938 KB2532531 KB2555917 KB2533623 KB905866
Since 13 July, Windows Update suggested I have install these updates. I agreed and they are then downloaded and installed... or so I think. When I turned off my computer at night, the updates fail and say they will try again the next day. This happened every day since. They simply won't be installed and code Error 80070020. I checked and my Windows Vista Home Premium installed Service Pack 2. Any help would be appreciated!
All the best,
MaryHello
